My point was that even though 57 degrees may not be cold compared to New York right now, it is too cold at 8:00 pm when it is very windy for a 1 or 2-year old to be outdoors for hours dressed in only shorts and a thin t-shirt. Most of us adults were cold even with jackets on. I was not the only person to notice the many poorly dressed children, especially on the little ferry boat coming back to the campground last night--two barely walking toddlers with no jackets or even long pants on when most of us were wearing sweatshirts or jackets.
And Disney, along with many places these days, does not allow "emotional support" animals. (Nor do they allow small horses or pigs as companions anywhere on their properties.) I understand that this woman may have needed emotional support, but I was looking at it from the dog's point of view. It is not kindness to any animal to dress it up in baby clothing and wrap it in layers of blankets to hide it so it can ride around in a basket in a theme park. It would have been much happier being taken for a walk, running around in a park, or given attention in some "doggy" way, like being brushed. And while some dogs can tolerate very small amounts of ice cream, and a lot of people do feed that to them, it is not the best treat for dogs who cannot digest the milk fat. I love animals of all kinds, but I think they need to be treated with more consideration sometimes from their owners.
Off to Animal Kingdom for an even colder day--high of 48. At least it is a little sunny.
