Thursday January 27

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Thursday January 27

Morning All, just a quick note. An undetermined amount of snow headed this way. I am as ready as I can be. Storm and family matters makes life a little chaotic at the moment. Will be back when things settle down. Sharon hang on.

Got up early and went to Urgent Care. Got there a half hour before they opened to make sure I got in right away, which I did. Got another prescription so will pick that up later at WM. Good thing I went early. By the time I left, the lobby was already full!

I have a haircut to do at 10 and then will go pick up my prescription. I have several people in the park wanting haircuts so will have to work them in somewhere in the next week.

Shirl and Sharon, hunker down and stay safe from this storm! Sounds like a doozie!

I think I will work on the laundry and kitchen today, as well as work a bit on my gourd.

Have a good day!

It's chilly (36 overnight) and sunny here. I feel for you who face the big storm coming. Do be careful and stay safe.

Good afternoon Shirl, Barbie, Velda & all that check in.

Shirl, I'll be thinking about you & Sharon as the front hits your area. Barbie, between working fulltime and the haircuts you do on the side, you are one busy woman! Velda, I think I mentioned before that I went to Curves for ten years, until the one I was going to closed. Besides enjoying going there, I made lots of friends because the same people went the same time I did and I still stay in touch with them. Karen, are you feeling back to normal again? BJ, I'm enjoying your Pippa stories. Martha, will you be hit with this front coming through? Beth, keep enjoying the breaks in the weather so you & Ty can walk. Sheila, you have your hands full and I feel for you. Anne, where are you?

We're going to be hit with very cold weather this weekend from the nor'easter hitting the east coast. At least we won't be getting any of the snow. We had friends we know from MD visit yesterday afternoon who are wintering in FL at the last campground we stayed in for 3 winters before buying here. We talked non-stop the entire visit. Brenda is coming this afternoon and will join us for a pea soup dinner and she will be bringing a salad.

Good morning. Happy to see everyone is prepared for the weather in their area. It was 30 this morning and has now warmed up to 34. And of course foggy. I think I am getting a bit better each day. This is the longest I have ever felt this badly. Since Christmas day. I am still coughing but not as much. But sometimes it is like a spasm and I have hurt my ribs just coughing. Some days it is a bit productive, others just a dry cough, but persistent. Not much energy yet but I have been trying to do a little something each day. And I am feeling much better than I was, so guess things are looking up. My appetite is better just in small doses. Barbie hope the drugs fix you right up. I am going shopping tomorrow for just a few things. Some fresh fruit, and some salad fixins are sounding good. That is a good sign.

Good morning!

Will be watching the nasty weather in the East. Going on noon and 30 degrees here with lows in the teens. People have decided it's too much trouble to pick up after their dogs.

Sheila, you may rant all you want - I think we all do our fair share. :D Karen, that bug needs to leave! That's a long time. I totally understand you not getting tested, but hope it's not Covid hanging on since you had the shots. Irmi, I have family in Ocala not happy with the cold. Happy you had a visit with Tina, Nan and that Brenda could be there, too! Shirl, hope your brother is doing well.

Finally have the overlock machine set up for a project and began putting a genealogy book in order. Time for some fun things! I just had a call from my grandson who just returned from the Middle East. Turns out there was confusion along the way and they will be stationed in Anchorage rather than Juneau in June. He expects to be there 4 1/2 years. I was glad I hadn't gotten in the shower yet or I would have missed his call!

Be safe everyone!

Good afternoon all! I was going to post earlier but a friend stopped by and we set here and visited for quite awhile! Rascal and I were happy to see her! Then a call from my friend down in Myrtle Beach so it’s been a busy and fun afternoon! It’s looking like this huge storm is going to miss us and that makes me happy! Shirl, you’ll probably get more of it then we do. Still supposed to be cold and a bit of snow tomorrow that doesn’t seem to be from the “big” one. What we’ll get is from the west and the lakes. This morning was really cold and it’s only about 21 now but at least the sun has been out most of the day. That always makes me feel better. Sue, I heard you about the winter gear but so far I just layer and have a warm pair of boots. For me it works since I don’t think I spend that much time outside in the cold! I have an extra long coat that my sister got years ago for her daughter and it hung in the closet for a long time so Sis gave it to me and that’s my go to when there’s wind. It’s super warm and I tease my niece that she can’t have it back now that she lives in Toronto! It certainly not the most stylish but it sure is warm! I do need to find a mask type thing that covers my face more then my scarf but then I say that every winter and just haven’t done it! Well, suppose I should start thinking about something for dinner. I still have some leftovers so I think that’ll be it again tonight! Didn’t get the housework done today that I planned on doing but always time for good friends. The housework will be here tomorrow! Have a good evening and stay safe.

Got the haircut done and then went to WM to pick up my meds. I left without shopping :o and headed to Kohls to return an Amazon item. Then stopped at a couple more stores before heading home. I must have been more in the napping mood than a shopping mood because the only thing I came home with was a pillow! I didn't even buy any chocolate, altho I did pick up a candy bar while in line at Kohls but put it back before it was my turn to check out. :o I did stop at Taco Bell for lunch.

I also stopped at my local tire store. A few weeks ago they quoted me $100 for two new tires. Today they quoted me almost $400 for 4 new tires. I am not good with math, but that doesn't make much sense to me. Am gonna check with Discount Tires and see what they have. I need at least 2 new tires since the front ones are pretty worn. Will get 4 for the right price.

So now I am trying out my new pillow. I always think I finally found the perfect pillow but after a few weeks, it either flattens out or gets lumpy. I always say that if I finally find the perfect pillow that is still perfect after a month or so, I will go back and buy 6 more for the future. That perfect pillow has eluded me so far. This one is a $40 pillow that I paid half price for. We'll see...

Tough day here with the weather...almost 80 degrees, sunshine and palm trees swaying in a light breeze. :( Just don't know how much longer I can stand this!   (Sorry, just had to join you all in whining about the weather. I didn't want to feel left out :D  ).

Anita, I had to look up an overlock machine. I had never heard of that. What are you making?

Yes, Sheila, rant all you want. I know I get pretty put out by some of the things my family does. My sister wants to sell the land we inherited but can't find the time to see about getting the paper work straightened out. I'm not going to drive 3 hours to see about it or hire a lawyer.

Irmi, I don't think I'm going to get much from the cold front. It might get down to 30 Friday night but the weather looks pretty good for the next week. Hope the weather is not too bad for Judy's Disney visit.

I have a mess going on in my office. Yesterday I pulled a lot out of a shelf unit and started going through it. I threw away about 10 old phone books. I am filing papers and burning some. I have notebooks for user manuals, motorhome maintenance bills and campground papers. I had started the notebooks but wasn't keeping up with the filing. There a bunch of old magazines that I had saved, probably because there are recipes in them. I don't know why I save recipes when I don't cook. lol

I looked on the Nike website for the tennis shoes I like but they must have quit making them. The web site only has 488 kinds of women's shoes. The ones that looks the closest to what I want are $130.

It's time to walk Sugar and put the trash out before I forget it.

Martha, I'm not making anything exciting at the moment. :) I finished the edges of a 'curtain' to cover the open shelves in the laundry at the end of the bathroom. Bought fleece for a throw so will finish those edges next. Years ago I made a lot of holiday/special pillowcases for the 4 grandkids. Looking forward to doing some tablecloths and cloth napkins. My daughter needs holiday tablecloths that fit her table - then maybe I'll get mine back. :) This machine is not nearly as nice as the one I had - gave it up when I moved from 5er to camper.

Barbie, I've had good luck with memory foam pillows. They design them now for your sleeping position, but mine is generic.

Barbie, I buy cheap pillows because I haven't found any expensive ones that last longer. I figure I'll just replace the cheap ones without guilt. Because of allergies I don't get feather pillows, but if I were you I'd spend on a quality feather pillow.

I did get my fridge defrosted this morning. It needs it now often in the humid temps than in the desert temps. That said it still goes fast. I have it down to a science lol.

Martha, I'm getting more rain but it looks like a few good days this coming week before temps drop again.

And, Sheila, rant away!

I go in stages so no rant today... maybe
before I forget that air fryer would it heat up sweet and sour pork or chick or shrimp so that it's not soggy?
I decided to stop and pick up some Chinese food and wasn't overly pleased with the reheat (I'd gotten it at lunch time for supper it's cheaper then) so nuked it and it was just soggy not very happy about it...
got to the store and the Chinese place and post office I've been looking for the bill for the tv/WIFI/land line and it wasn't there... so text brother and told him that she hasn't received one since she has been here... so he checked and two months over due .... yikes and it's due on the 6 th of the month so I explained to mom that it must have gotten lost and the best thing to do so it won't be late is to give brother the information on the check so he can pay the bill over the internet... he text back Hallmark is saved!!!
did a bit of my Swedish Weave today is one of my brother's birthday wish I could say that I remember how old he is  I have a hard enough time remembering my own kids birth years  I am the eldest then about 18 months later my brother was born then about 2 years after was another brother and about 2 years later is the 3rd brother then I had a sister and then another sister and then a brother who was still born and my youngest sister passed away in an accident with my dad... now why I rambled on about that I have no idea  but I don't recall what year the 3rd boy was born I remember one time that I wish him happy birthday he said something like he couldn't remember when my birthday is and I said something about 5 days before yours
guess I ought to close wish you all a good day we would welcome a nice snow storm it would be warmer then... it's a -5 according to the phone at this moment ugh have I mentioned I am cold?????

Sheila, I reheat most everything in my air fryer. If it's in a sauce you need to put it in an oven safe dish for the air fryer. Chicken wings or fried shrimp can go straight on the rack (but I use a liner for air fryers to make clean up a breeze).

Sheila, I would thing you could heat pork, chicken or shrimp in an air fryer. Mine has an element in the top so food is kind of broiled. I like french fries very crisp so if I get something to go that has french fries I bring them home and cook them some more in the air fryer. The air fryer is the only way I cook steak and hamburger patties now.

Just heard that 3G phones and other 3G technology will soon be obsolete and no longer work. Not sure if mine is that old or not. :? Will have to check.

I fell asleep just after I posted on here earlier. Slept for 2 hours. My new pillow must have felt so good it put me right in LaLa land!
