Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Thursday January 20

Morning All, cloudy 39° rain turning to snow. No special news. Heading to hair appointment with wild socks and purple cane. Hoping temp stays above freezing until I get home. Sheila, you need one of those throws with arms to keep you warm. Be safe

Morning Shirl and all who follow. Our high for the day was over an hour or so ago. Topped at 49 I believe. It'll continue going down all day and overnight. Only calling for rain but with temps at freezing in the morning, I wouldn't be surprised if we saw some snow.

Nothing exciting here. Shirl, my socks aren't fun like yours. Pouting! But I admit they help keep me warm right now.

Sunny here and pretty brisk breezes expected later. Temps have reached 60° during day and high 30's at night. Possibly be warmer with north wind.
We had a exciting day yesterday. Son found a lump which immediatey bean to hurt as he palpated it. Because of his history of a similar while only age 4, which became a surgical emergency, both our internist and his urologist advised ER right away. Entered ER at 4 pm. I managed to convince them that because of his memory issues and I was no virus threat due to vax and they let me stay. Saw Dr, then hour or so later ultrasound for over 40 min, then wait, then labs, then wait, and wait. Finally about 10 after 8, we were called back and told he has a cyst, which likely ruptured plus a pretty nasty UTI, so sent home and told to pick up antibiotics today and follow up with Dr. At least his pain subsided some. I have cranberry pills, so gave him that and some colloidal silver and soon as I'm dressed will head to pick up antibiotic if pharmacy has it ready.
Have just a few things to get out of my hutch today, then the last 20 or so square feet of floor can be finished! This is phase 1, the insurance phase! Next I have to begin going through and emptying pantry, cleaning shelves I haven't been able to get to in years, then put in fresh can goods which are in sunroom stacked. It's been a long time mess. Then I'll clean all cupboard doors and Sean will assess which need light sanding and refinishing. I'll be glad to get the insurance $$ back in my account. I'm really looking forward to the next project, finishing my sunroom!
Well, I better get busy here. Everyone have a good day.

Good morning,

Predicted 46 and rain. Haven't seen rain but snow is melting off the roof! Sun just came out!

Velda, so glad it was just a cyst! We've had a couple scares like that in my family. Monica had her CT scan and they found bone chips floating in her jaw and gums!

Clinic is continuing to bill me more than my co-pay. So frustrating. Snow clean up is laughable. Email yesterday all parking spots accessible - think she should have walked outside to look first! Guy with skid loader came 4-6 a.m. when cars parked so he couldn't clear sites and she took his word that all was done. Duh! I did pickup my grocery order and headed back this afternoon to do my own shopping. So glad I hadn't tried to walk over to the store - slippery mess.

With all the crazy weather, everyone be safe!

Just got back from running errands. Since those of us on Medicare cannot get free tests each month as can those with private insurance, I picked up several in home COVID test kits. I will also not get the free ones sent to each household because I do not have a household!! I really want to keep a few kits around in case i need to test myself if I find out I have been exposed. I also am planning on seeing a cousin down here and need to test myself before I see her because she is helping to care for her brother and his wife, who are both immune compromised and not doing well.

Also, Barbie, before you ride your new bike for the first time with the battery on, ride it a couple of times just as a regular bike. I say this because these bikes are very heavy and may feel different than a regular bike. Also, if you have pedal boost, they can get away from you if you hit a gravel patch. Stick to clean, paved roads for a while. I let a lady try out my old bike a couple of years ago in an Oregon state park, and she lost control of the bike and broke her wrist. I have not loaned any bikes out since then. When I got my new bike and gave the old one to my DIL, I told her to ride it without power for a bit to get used to it. Did same thing with each of my grandkids last summer.

Anyway, this advice goes for anyone getting a new electric bike. Also, make sure you ride with a helmet. I always do because I figure at my age, I hardly need any brain damage!! I am even considering getting some knee pads!

Afternoon all. We got hit with the storm on Sunday night into Monday with about 6”plus here in town. I had an 11 am appointment for my annual check up but decided it wasn’t going to happen! The soonest appointment with my doctor then is Sept! So said no problem with seeing PA. Seems I see them more then my doctor which is fine with me. I managed to pull out the snowblower and got the driveway clear and it looked like neighbor’s daughter do the sidewalk. Missed the plow from the church to see if he’d do the mess at the end of the driveway so I managed to get enough off the top that I got my car out. Then yesterday we had 40 plus so did more of it in between taking Rascal for his annual checkup. Poor boy got blood drawn and 3 different shots. This was the first visit and I was impressed with them and Rascal seemed comfortable with them. Plus I was expecting a bill like I’ve had in the past but it was much less. So that was a nice bonus. And vet said for a 13 year old he was in pretty good health other then the weakness in his legs. She was a ready to help him get up a couple of times but I asked her to let him do it himself and I was ready to help him if he needed me. He did it by himself. He doesn’t pop up like he used to but as long as he can do it I think it’s best. And his chiropractor thinks it good for him to use the muscles.
My youngest is off for 5-10 days with either a sinus infection or Covid. Said he started feeling bad Sunday evening, took home test yesterday morning (negative) and stayed home. Video call with doctor yesterday and is scheduled for a test at their facility tomorrow. Interesting that doctor said people vaccinated are presenting with sinus like symptoms and he’s chronic with them anyway. I haven’t been around him since just after Christmas so if he has it I’m in the clear. At least from him! At this point I’m hoping for sinus infection for him rather then the alternative! Had my chiropractor appointment today so that does it for appointments until Monday so I can just stay home and out of this cold. And it’s supposed to get colder over the next several days. But supposed to have some sun so I’ll just stay inside and enjoy Hope those of you that got hit with this snow are shoveled or plowed out. Seems when I read about some of you in the warmer weather I ask myself what I’m doing here….then I remember why I’m here! Stay safe and stay warm!

Ran errands, got a haircut. The temperature stayed at 37°so only rain and a few snow flurries. I didn’t need a cane and decided to wear solid black socks. Wild socks would have fit right in at the beauty salon with the young woman who has have her head shaved and her hair on the other half bright pink. Beth, do the socks have any effect on your breathing? They help me so I am trying to determine if it’s related to my age, medical issues or just me. Since it cloudy, rainy, snowy and cold I stopped for carry out shrimp lo mein and won ton soup. Having a pasta party today. Stay warm.

I got all the pipes and faucets around the house covered. Just hope it doesn't get as cold as predicted. I don't remember what the lowest was last year when Texas and Louisiana had the hard freeze. I could have done this yesterday when it was 77 instead of today when it's 43. I still have to take the trash out so will give Sugar a short walk.

Shirl, your lunch sounds better than mine. I tried one of the Sam's enchiladas and I don't recommend them.

I have seen a few women fall with regular bikes at campouts so I'm not going to try one. If I had somewhere to carry it I would get one of the small 3 wheel scooters.

Shirl, unfortunately I'm not noticing a difference. But they are the only socks I've used since getting them and except on hot days, I've been wearing them. They can't hurt!

Martha, no hard freeze expected here, but definitely cold. And the wind today made it feel really cold. That said, in a few days it looks like we'll be back closer to normal for this time of year. And those are my perfect temps, 60's and 70's.

I had one of the first ebikes. I just can never get used to how uncomfortable bikes have always been for me. And I just can't ride them on streets, regular or ebikes, and feel safe. So it didn't last long with me. I sure understand why many love them, though.

My electric bikes do scare me occasionally, but I am very careful. I have had some fantastic experiences on them, seeing places that I could not see with a car or RV. One of my most memorable rides was through back neighborhoods in Salem, MA, where there are enormous three and four-story homes (mansions) originally owned by sea captains and their families. Another time was in Key West, Florida. The traffic there even for cars is almost always awful, but I parked my motorhome in the state park and rode my bike through the back roads of Key West, exploring a couple of neighborhoods that are closed to regular traffic.

However, I still have the scar from the scrape on my left ankle that I got when I fell in Napa and had to be rescued by some nearby auto mechanics. I think one of the three-wheeled bikes would be terrific, as would one of the three-wheeled electric scooters!

Quite a few years ago, when I was teaching in a classroom, two of my fellow faculty members came into the copy room one evening before class--one in a wheelchair and the other on crutches. Both, independently, had been trying out inline roller skates and the one in the wheelchair had broken his leg, while the one on crutches had just broken her ankle. I decided that night NOT to try inline roller skates!!!

Our temps have been in the 20 low at that wind chill was like 10 from what the weather person said...
went to the store picked up all that I went for and lots of other stuff as well... which is what I usually do... we have actually 3 grocery stores one is a Koger one an Albertson's and one a phooey can remember the other one more of an organic whole foods that might be it... I favor Smith's (Koger) for most of the groceries it's cheaper and know the store better.. so then I had to stop at Albertson's for the stuff I didn't find and for the RX that I needed to pick up for mom... had someone ask me where he could find tea suggested he look in the aisle with coffee he then asked if I knew if they could find sweet tea I said I doubt that there would be any other than he might check the bottled tea might find it there this was all asked in a southern accent  he didn't need to tell me he was from the south  first clue??? the accent then the sweet tea
my youngest gave me a top I thought for my Christmas/Birthday gift told her today that it was really big on me wondered if we could exchange it she told me that it was a poncho oh well that puts a different slant on things  although it still makes me look huge!!!
I think I would like a 3 wheeled bike more than the normal bike or ebike haven't been on a bike for I bet 60 years... if not longer... :?
you all have a great day
