Wednesday here in Sunny Florida

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Wednesday here in Sunny Florida

Postby BirdbyBird » Wed Jan 19, 2022 8:48 am

Good Morning all. I am planning to head out to Nan's today and see what we can come up with. We may or may not need bail money. Good news on my misbehaving door latch. Apparently my 20 year old RoadTrek has a child lock on the side door. I was due an easy fix so I thanked the vehicle gods for that. Later came the interrogations of the canines regarding what they knew about the situation. They claimed innocence and without nose prints to prove difference the investigation had to be dropped.

Barbie, my recommendations for nail trimming is similar to what you have already heard. I have used human nail trimmers for tricky nails and I have used the "wrap then in a towel" system. It helps. Between the complaining dogs and the complaining cats over the years I can pretty much ignore the verbal trash talk and suggest that they suck it up because they have a good home and a good life. The only behavior I take seriously are the critters that actually try to bit. The dogs that went there got muzzles and the cats got very carefully wrapped in towels..... Luckily The current critters are all more resined as Velda explained it.

Morning All, a sunny 36° morning. While I still remember, Happy Belated Birthday Barbie, hope you ordered a helmet too. :D Judy, glad your stitches have been removed. Karen is feeling a little better. Life is pretty routine here so nothing to post. More snow coming my way so will just stay home. The maintenance people here have sidewalks and parking lots cleared in record time. Of course we do not usually have as much snow as Anita. Tried a new Mac and cheese recipe, was quick and good. Tried to post and couldn’t so either I have tapped or clicked the wrong button or Apple is making me more secure. Lol Will work on that. Be safe

Last sunny warm day here for awhile. Tomorrow starts highs in 40's and 50's with a good chance of rain everyday for 5 or so days. I'll become a bum looking for dry spells to walk Ty. I keep comparing the weather here to what is be experiencing in Benson. Both have plusses and minuses, both with considerable plusses for me. Nice to know I have choices.

Meantime, I will get some long walks in today and do laundry I believe.

Love your canine interrogation, Tina.

I stayed for a few weeks at my site, but am not spending the winter there. I'm at a private park in south Texas this winter.

Probably not going out today. Been trying to catch up on making appointments at doctors and such for April and May when I am back in Ohio. I tend to try to squeeze stuff like that in while I am there. Also, cancelled my plane reservation, car rental reservation, and dentist appointment!! Yea, again!! Also, planning my drive out west in late July. I've got a couple of cheap COE campgrounds I want to get into, and I know that these particular ones fill up fast.

Enjoyed my pizza last night for dinner, so guess what dinner will be this evening? 8-)

Good morning!

A sunny day! Trying to move the hibiscus around to get as much light as possible.

Tina, glad you found the reason for the door problem, but sorry no one looked guilty! :D Beth, rainy days are so good for being a bum. Shirl, I hope you get enough snow to be pretty and then melt quickly!

The car has been dug out! Snow was up to my knees. We got enough cleared so I could get it out and moved to a better location to finish clearing it off. Alan and I were on opposite sides of the car working on the roof. He has a longer reach and all of a sudden a large chunk came down next to me. :o I told him he found a way to get rid of his mother-in-law in one easy scoop!

Placed a grocery order to be picked up later, but I'll also go into the store for a few things - mostly dairy with expiration dates.

BJ, have you had an update from your friend regarding Covid in Ireland?

Everyone be safe!

Tina, glad your door lock was an easy fix. I had a 2003 Ford van and had to fix the door lock in the driver side door, the side door and the back door.

I was tired of staying home so went to Lafayette. Got a pair of the Easy Spirit shoes I like. I had finally thrown the oldest pair away because my toe was sticking out. I noticed that there is a new Skechers Outlet that opened up next to Bed, Bath and Beyond. It was across a main street and I didn't feel like finding a light to get across the road. I'll check it out next trip. Went to get gas at Sam's and drove around until I could find a parking place I was willing to walk from. I was going after a bag of the cheese I like but of course I spent $140. Got a wheel of 4 kinds of cheese besides the one I went for. A pan of enchiladas and a pan of twice baked potatoes that I'm going to divide up and freeze. I found some Chicken Tikka that looks like butter chicken that is served over rice and some naan bread. A box of crab cakes and a bottle of bright, sweet cherry moscato wine. They can sure make wine sound good. lol At least it has a cork instead of a screw top like most of my wine. I sure must be looking bad, everyone wanted to help me pick up things. A lady helped me load a bag of cat food. I had to quit buying cat litter at Sam's because I was afraid I would mess up my shoulder more.

I should have stayed home and finished wrapping the rest of the water pipes. It's suppose to get down to 26 Friday night. It got up to 77 today but tomorrow it's going to be cold.

Martha, it seems like my weather quickly gets to you. We're in a winter weather watch (freezing temps, icing roads, etc) Friday morning. So watch for it.

Ty and I took a couple good walks today. I'm hoping to sneak at least one in every day if rains hold off long enough. I'll dress warm. Otherwise I have TV and books to keep me company. I got laundry done and intend to work on eating the frozen stuff and getting my freezer down so I can fill it with things I can't get this summer (like some of the great HEB shrimp).

It was nice to see some of the birds along the canals today.

the problem with wrapping up in a blanket when it comes time to using both hands to type the blanket gets dropped and the back is always not covered so cold... we actually got up to 26 today!!! I'm sure out in the sun it was warm... but I don't do that or try not to... tomorrow I will need to go out and get something either that or find something in the freezer to thaw... it's full but not sure what I want to fix... we did have soup tonight took and cut up one potato cooked and then added the left over soup to it... turned out to be just the amount needed... as there was no leftover's now except for some oatmeal and a small amount of peas/carrots mixture we don't have food left over.... that is always a good feeling but won't take me long to change that...
was it Tikka Marsala Martha? that is really good as well... my dd really likes it
feel like I accomplished something today vacuumed and watered plants swept the floor should mop it but the mop is in the garage and probably frozen as I think it was wet when I put it out there although it may not have been...
got out my Swedish Weave and discovered a couple of dirty spots... so aggravating called my friend to see what I should do we decided to go ahead and finish working on it then clean it before I do the fringe part as the washing can make the fringe not looking great... since I am giving it away I want to have the fringe look good... so got a couple of half rows done
we had someone come from church and clean off some of the snow off the garage roof really appreciated the help...not that I was going to go up and clean it but it is one worry out of the way...
you all have a great day

Dr visit was short. Just to update my meds and then set up some future appointments.

Stopped at IHOP afterward and had breakfast. I love to eat breakfast out. I don't like to make it at home. Tastes a lot better than I can make it.

Went to watch the Karaoke at the clubhouse pool this afternoon. A couple of the singers were really good, but most were awful! I guess maybe it would sound better if one was drinking alcohol, but for me, I finally had to leave.

I got an email from the woman (Gloria) who I am rooming with for the gourd festival. She asked me if I would like to be her assistant on the first day of the festival (Thursday) and I could also participate in the class for free! Unfortunately, I would have to try to get another day off from work to go there a day earlier. And the class is way beyond what my current abilities are (woodburning and carving) and I don't have all the equipment I would need to work on the project. It would be fun to just be her assistant tho and watch how it is all done. Not sure I can get another day off from work tho. Will see...

One of the male cats (probably Snoopy) has been spraying on my slider door and screen door so I had to clean that since it was pretty stinky! Got that done and also sprayed down the filters from my AC units. I painted one coat on the gourd I am working on. They say that if you want the paint to show their true color, you need to paint the gourd white first (since the gourd is light brown, it can affect the paint color), so that is what I did today. I am waiting to get the pigment powders I ordered to mix with the green paint I will put on next, that will make it a shimmery/metallic. I should get the powders on Friday. This is another experimental gourd project so am hoping it turns out the way I an envisioning it.

Am about ready to head to bed. Back to work tomorrow. Will be working the next 4 days. Didn't get much done the past couple days like I had wanted. Was asked to do a TNR trapping on Friday but I have to work on Saturday so wouldn't be able to pick up what ever cat I caught and brought in on Friday night.

I made a reservation at a motel in Laguna Hills for the weekend after next when I meet with Gloria about sharing the room for the gourd festival. I want to explore more of the cove beaches around Laguna Beach on Sunday before heading back home. Saturday night I will head to the main beach to watch the sunset. It is a great place to watch a sunset!

Shirl, I am ordering a bike helmet on Amazon.

Have a good night!

Sheila, in my younger years I used to do quite a bit of crochet, but I haven't a clue what this "Swedish Weave" is that you are always talking about.

Care to post a photo so we can all see? :D

Thanks.
