Hello From SUNNY Bryce Canyon

Postby jemek » Mon Jun 22, 2009 4:54 pm

We made it Bryce Canyon on Sunday...a little later then planned...
How to share our Sunday Trip..
Lunch at Wendy's 32.00 dollars
New set of tires for trailer 700.00 dollars
NOT having a blow out on the interstate: Priceless

We pulled in to fuel up in Beaver, UT at the Flying J. They have full service..someone comes out and washes the windows, etc...
Well he noticed one of the tires looked like it was getting ready to go. There was a tire place right next door. Less just say when they pulled that tire off you could see the bald on the inside and even the steel belts. We have a photo on DH's camera..off what it looked like when they took off the rim. We were lucky as they said it most likely would not have made it another 50 miles. That would put us up on the Hwy to Bryce. The other tire on that side was also showing some signs of separation ...so we figured might as well as replace them all..since we have so far to go. They were the original tires and we had figured we would be replacing them by next year. The rest of the trip has gone fantastic.

We have done a few hikes, took a free bus tour to the south end of the canyon. It was a 4 hour trip, but it was worth it...I enjoy learning more about the area and hearing stories of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.

I am currently doing Laundry. DH and the kids are swimming. Tonight we are going to hike down into the canyon for one of the shorter hikes about 2 hours.

Tomorrow we will be back on the road..but only have 50 miles to go. We will go to Glendale. Once set up we will have lunch and then pack up dinner and have dinner at the Coral Pink Sand Dunes. Then on Wed...we will spend the day in Zion Canyon.

Sounds like a great trip. Those "little" expenses are just part of the "if I want to RV". We just had a flat tire on our toad and bought 2 new ones for the front. Love the area you are in. Enjoying your trip, and if you have the capabilities (not ability, I know you have that ), some pictures-PLEEEASE. carold

Well, I never!!! I fueled at that Flying J in April and had to wash my own durn window!!! Oops, as I typed this realized it was Cedar City. My bad. Can blame it on CRS and old age?????

looking forward to the pictures :P
I'm so glad you didn't have a blowout on the highway, that would have been
awful.

This is the third year I've been at the Grand Canyon and I still haven't seen Bryce or Zion. I'm waiting for a suitable visitor. Hate the price of tires, but it is a good feeling driving along knowing you've got good rubber underneath you. It sounds as though you got your money out of the other set. :D

Carold, do you think Sparkle really meant suitable visitor or visable suitor?

I suspect Sparkle meant either of the above, Vickie!!

I see that Beth posted yesterday morning, and it was good to hear from that group. I hope Liz got her generator fixed once and for all. I never get on here in time to do the morning thing, and now it's Tuesday morning so I hesitate to write back on Monday morning's thread! Anyway, here I am, about to get dressed and off to school for my last Tuesday until September. YIPPEE! This week is going by fast, I must say.

Beth, did you feel the earthquake yesterday? I suppose I could read the other posts and find out, which I will do right now!

Happy Tuesday to you all!

Soos, answered you in your other post.

Sparkle, will I be suitable - come fall? I've been and would go again. Will have to see what the weather there would be in November??? And if it can be fit into my vast plans - I do know that I have to get near Phoenix at some point this fall/winter for at least a few days/week.

Kris, your trip is wonderful - even with those tires. And, yes, I'd much rather you not have had the blowout. I had, like you, the plans to replace my tires - was within a few hundred miles of the end of the trip when they would have been replaced - when I had one blow - and do quite a bit of damage in the process. Hope you went back and thanked the guy big time for noticing! Love how you listed it with the Priceless tag used by mastercard :)

I won't comment on the 'visitor' BUT can tell you that Zion and Bryce were lovely the first week of Nov last fall. Kind of chilly at Bryce though!

jemek....I have another idea for lunches.....baked potatoes with chili and cheese......or did I all ready say that?
