Thursday January 13

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Thursday January 13

Morning All, overcast and 34°. Drinking coffee and pondering. Need more jugs for winter sowing. Thought about recycling bins scattered around bur the picture of elderly woman with a purple cane and wild socks rooting through bins doesn’t seem like an option. Sadly the Christmas tree will come down this weekend. Nasty weather coming Sunday and it is cold so a good time to pack up decorations. Going to daughters and plant the 5 jugs I have, get the trash can/storage container out of the car and that will be my chores for the day. Making a batch of vegetable beef soup in the crockpot for dinner. Will add a little orzo to thicken since I like to chew my soup. Be safe

Why doesn’t the smiley faces go where I want them?

Morning Shirl! It's going to head back into the 70's here today with sun and basically no winds so I'm heading out shortly to enjoy this. As for smileys they will insert where ever you are in the post when you click on one. :D voila. They insert as text which appears in the post as the smiley you clicked on.

Martha and Judy, I bought a few premade HEB meals I've not tried before. I'm looking forward to them. They have lots of put together with recipes for cooking at home, but I'm too lazy. Either way, much less expensive than eating out and I pick good healthy options. Doesn't stop me from the junk I also eat, unfortunately.

I've also just signed up for a meal plan, again with premade meals to be heated and just need heating. I'm looking for this mainly to hope to use when I go back to work this year. Long hours and lazy me lol. This plan had great reviews so I'll find out when I get my first delivery if I keep it. I'll have to pause it when I'm traveling for the few weeks. If I was staying here I might not have decided to try it with the great meals HEB has, but nothing like it where I'll be. I'll not be using it for every meal but it'll be nice to have some things I probably wouldn't fix otherwise, too. Without all the extras that I have to find uses for or throw away. I hate throwing food away.

Beth a couple of my nurse friends have ordered the meals as they are working lots of 12hr shifts and no time to cook. They said some are really good, others not so much but they are picking their favorites to order next time. I haven't had any incentive to cook much lately. Still not feeling up to par, no energy. Haven't been eating much but that needs to change I know. So this morning will have a scrambled egg and muffin. I have been keeping my fluids up tho, trying to flush this crud away LOL It will be 3 weeks on Saturday, it is time for it to just move on. I have things I need to do!!!!!

Beth, my smileys do post where I want them, they go up at random points in my message. They use to behave but no longer.

Beth, did you sign up for Freshly? I had that. The food was very good. Reason I quit was the food piled up as I couldn’t eat it fast enough, and the packaging drove my daughter nuts. Way too much ice packs. For me, price was $10 per meal. I liked the spices they used and chicken was always well cooked. Lyn

Good morning Shirl and everyone else! Been reading posts. but not much happening here that hasn’t already happened. So one day pretty much the same as the last. We’ve had, finally, a couple of sunny days so pup and I took advantage yesterday and went to the store and for a walk. And will try to get out today for a walk. I’ve been watching the weather and looks like Sunday we’re forecasted to get. 8”-12” and a bit more Monday. I have my annual checkup scheduled for Monday late morning but debating on rescheduling it. This was made a year ago with the doctor so imagine they won’t be able to reschedule with her anytime soon. On average I only see her about once a year and if any other need to call them I see one of the PA’s. Gone are the days of being able to see primary doctor whenever needed. Guess it’s good I’ve been fairly healthy! But sometimes I almost prefer seeing a PA! Anyway, I’ll wait and see what really happens with the weather and keep or cancel as this storm unfolds. I need to go out to the gorge and double check the snowblower and check to see ho much gas I have in the can. It’s been a few weeks since I checked it. Have I mentioned I don’t like winter? Time to hibernate! Sue, wish I could enjoy it like you seem to!
But just don’t think that’ll ever happen! Tina, glad you made it to FL for some fun. Beth, laughed at your comment about staying warm in bed! That’s sometimes where I like to be in the morning but Rascal thinks he needs to go outside when he thinks he needs to! And he lets me know! He goes out and takes care of business and comes in and takes a nap but by then I’m up! So that’s about it from my little world. Hope you all have a good day and stay safe. Oh my, several of you jumped in before I got posted! Karen, hope you start feeling better soon. Interesting thought Beth, about ordering meals. I’ve gotten so when I don’t want to cook I just fry up a couple of eggs or something similar!

Lyn, this is a new one to me called Fresh n Lean. My biggest concern is that I don't pick the meals, they do. But I'm giving it a try. I can skip weeks, etc any time. And I'm going with vegetarian meals for now. I can change that anytime, too. But it's almost always meat that I buy and cook in the pressure cooker and have way too much left over and fills the freezer, so I figured I'd have a good combination. (And I liked the choices in that category.) Only time will tell.

Here's a pic of some I got at HEB yesterday. The shrimp and chicken are fresh and shrimp will be part of tonight's dinner. But I just cook them. Back one precooked.

Karen, I worry about you. Hang in there!

I have not tried any of those meals, mainly because I do not have an address! However, I do enjoy some of the frozen meals from Trader Joes, and will try the HEB stuff when I next go to Texas. I like these things because I get very tired of my own cooking and am too lazy to cook a lot, although I think I will make bread this afternoon.

I am looking forward to my trip to the UK because of a place called Pret a Manger, which translates to "take-out." Everything is organic and made at each store that morning, so it is very fresh. Usually, I do not care about things being organic, but in this case it means things made from whole chicken breasts instead of chicken lunch meat. Ditto for ham sliced from a real ham instead of pressed and formed ham. Also they have fresh-squeezed orange juice and pastries! They have great salads, main courses, sandwiches, desserts, and side items--a little expensive, but still cheaper than restaurant food and very good tasting. In the UK, a lot of people do take out which is not fast food, so even department stores such as Marks and Spencer has a terrific take-out department with a wide selection of fresh foods and drinks.

Tooth is mostly behaving itself. I had crepes for breakfast and will have soup for dinner.

I finally got the motorhome washed. It was still too windy but I tried to stay up wind of the water. I washed the sheets so will go make the beds and put the motorhome up. I noticed that the road service guy didn't put the hub cap back on right and I couldn't get to the valve stem. I'm lucky I didn't lose it. Supposedly he put 75 pounds in and my gauge says 70. I hope it doesn't still have a leak.

I have thought about ordering some of the ready made meals but I need to cook what's in the freezer before hurricane season. One of the ladies I had lunch with yesterday said Kroger has the pre-made meals. We don't have any Krogers near here but she stays with her grandkids in Dallas when they are out of school.

I have my Meetup meal tonight at a seafood restaurant. Seafood is my favorite to eat out and not have to cook it. Maybe I can get on the road early enough to stop at TJ Maxx. Not that I need anything from there.

Just hanging out here in Florida and taking daily dog walks with Liz and Thistle. Getting some reading done and several small projects. The kayaks were loaded this afternoon for a river paddle tomorrow. I have been listening to my favorite NPR station from Ohio. It makes the what Floridians are considering chilly weather feel just fine. The sun is shining and I have whatever layers are needed and not freezing which is more than I can say about Ohio. Lark is delighted to find her friends Liz and Thistle and has a memory of most of the trails. Jane is adjusting to this new life of walking and sniffing.

My day's gotten away from me. Please see my post in the general room about Karen (retiredhappy).

Judy, I'll be in Utah for 7 months and I'm hoping this will help me eat healthy, etc. So trying it for a few weeks now will tell me if I continue and just pause it or drop it. Fingers crossed it works how I'm hoping. They did contact me today that they are working at making their program more easily designed to choose specific meals, but, to be honest, maybe I'll eat some things I normally would skip. It's good for me to have some change!

Lyn, I'm also planning to change to an every other week delivery just so things hopefully won't pile up.

Hopefully I actually make it out tomorrow lol.

Good afternoon,

Tina, happy you and Liz are out and about! Karen, 3 weeks is way too long, but glad you are doing better.

Given the huge pile of snow, I can't see what progress they are making, but I have seen two pieces of equipment and a dump truck. Temp in the 40s and sun was out earlier so roofs are dripping. Saw one man having to help his wife step down off snow in the vicinity of the sidewalk out front. I had thought of going out to look at progress, but that changed my mind. Sheila, I bought Yaktrax that go on shoes for slippery conditions. I haven't had to use them yet, but pretty sure I learned about them from Soos years ago. As much as you are out and about, would probably be a good idea. I got mine from Amazon, but I imagine stores in Jackson would carry them.

Just finally had lunch. I have been busy! I got all the Christmas stuff put away under the house. I took out a whole pile of empty bins from that area first. I will just keep the ones that match since they stack well. The rest I will use for stuff going to the thrift stores. My deck is now clean and back to normal. I went thru all my beads and just kept a few of the colors I like and am donating all the rest to the thrift store. Someone who likes working with pony beads will be very happy!

Got the trash from inside and outside and flattened out all the cardboard boxes and got all that hauled to the dumpsters.

Cleaned up my golf cart and put a For Sale sign on it. It has really gotten run down looking from the heat and sun so, along with needing all new batteries, I don't expect to get much for it. I guess the cost of golf cart batteries has gone up a lot and 6 of them cost over $1000 now. Am hoping I can get enough money to buy an e-bike. I found one I really like on Amazon for just under $700.

Been mostly cloudy today with a few peeks of sun. In the 70's so is very comfortable.

I found out that the lady who owns the house across the street, blocked the hole that the cats were going thru to get under her house. So I don't have any idea where Snoopy Cat is living now so that will be harder to figure out where to put the trap tomorrow. I am not expecting much success in trapping him :(

Just remembered I left the ladder out in front of the house. I better go move it before someone thinks it is a freebie.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

When I bought that shrimp I told myself I'd split it into two meals. All the way up until I opened the package today. Ha. No complaints and I'll buy it again. I cooked it perfectly in the air fryer and had it with Mexican corn. So good. I will miss HEB... A good reason to return here next winter. (I picked up a pulled pork sandwich for $4 there yesterday too... That, minus the top bun was lunch.)

Beth are you talking about just making it out of the motor home or are you going some where?
I went to bed and actually turned off the light for me fairly early (2:00) as I said early for me and slept just up for a potty run and woke up just a couple moments shy of 12:00 totally amazed and it was a deep sleep didn't hear the alarm did hear the tv and didn't hear mom moving around she even got the step stool and put some vases away... we had lunch actually instead of breakfast  hmmm Shirl not sure why you are having problems with the smiles they seem to go where I want them to... had to add that smilies just for you lol
so I just didn't do much today... read scriptures and then sat down and worked on my Swedish Weave finish the one row .... I had stopped the row the other day as I thought that I had done something wrong and I was visiting on the phone some times I can multitask just didn't seem to be able to do so with that row... so today I pick it up and continue on and glance back not sure how many I had done but looked back and SAW IT my error :o  and had to pull out what felt like a lot!!! but you know it seemed to so faster going back than it did going forward..so got back to my oops un did it and went forward finally finished that part of the row was going to do another but decided I was pushing my luck.... I will hopefully work on it tomorrow. Mom got one of the bills for the hospital so she wants to go into the hospital and talk to them about making payments I told her if she did she had to wear a mask properly not on her chin or wrist... I suggested calling the hospital but she would rather talk in person...
we will see if it happens tomorrow or not...
sure hope that Karen heals from her stroke and Karen 3 weeks is way too long for a cold to hang on so take it easy and recover
you all have good day
