Monday January 10

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Monday January 10

Postby Shirlv » Mon Jan 10, 2022 9:30 am

Morning All, sunny and cold 31°. Still haven’t unwrapped the fairy lights. It was warmer yesterday but the rain soaked the balcony. Looks like a few more days of really cold days before we are back in the 40’s. I had a three way texting conversation with my two daughters yesterday. I texted I was sorry as a young person I laughed how some older people dressed. I told them I got the purple cane and was wearing wild design compression socks. I’m known for loving polka dots so mentioned I saw a cute polka dot bucket hat in a catalog. The oldest daughter text to the youngest “you take her to the next eye appointment”. Ungrateful kids. I do wear solid black compression socks for eye appointments. Lol Gotta keep laughing.
Tina, hope you have reached decent weather. Judy, hope you are having a better day. Everyone, stay healthy and safe.

Morning! Late morning but still morning! Another damp chilly day here, but I'll take it. I mean how can I complain when my damp chilly still is in the 50's? And only lasts a couple days. Other than getting Ty and I exercised, it'll be a cuddle up and hot chocolate kind of day. I slept in, so the day is disappearing quickly. :)

Anne, I just got an email from Motorola and it looks like a lot of their phones are on sale again. Maybe check to see if the one you're interested in made it back on sale?

Good afternoon ladies!

Wow, so much has been going on with all of you, it's hard to keep track of everyone without taking notes. Velda, your kitchen/dining area is going to be so nice. Sue, I love your new tub! The wider opening enhances the entire room. Karen, it's so good knowing you're finally feeling better. Barbie, you too. I hope that by the time you return to work, you'll feel better yet. Tina, that is so exciting that you're on the road to visit Liz. Shirl, I am looking forward to the jugs of butterfly plants you're sowing for the family. Beth, I'm glad you got your propane filled and that your weather isn't any worse. Judy, I hope you're recovering from your dental surgery. Cheryl, how are things going for you? Lyn, I always enjoy your posts. Carolb & I mentioned you this morning in our weekly call. BJ, it's good to know you're not in as much pain. I know I've over looked so many of you, but it's not intentional.

We're in the low 70's today but a cold front will be moving through tonight and we'll only be in the 60's tomorrow. It's back to wearing lots of layers again. We know a few people that have tested positive for Covid, and ordered a large package of the KF95 masks that are on the way. Stay safe.

Good morning. Nothing much to report here except I am still alive. Still not feeling great but a little better each day. Still have my cough but it is improving. Weighed myself today as I do every Monday .....so this is a perk, I have lost 9lbs. The Rescue unit was next door this morning at my 92 yr old neighbors house, I didnt dare go over still being sick. But they did not take her with them so apparently all is well. Her neighbors on the other side went over when they pulled up so knew they would help her if needed. I will call her this afternoon. Still isolating myself. I still dont need anything at the store that cannot wait another week.

Had a scambled egg and half a small avocado for breakfast. Sipping on orange juice, gotta have my vitamin C. Shirl my lights are still up on my front porch but I am going to unplug them later today and take them down when I feel like it.

I stayed up late watching YouTube videos last night. So I ended up sleeping in late this morning. Am feeling a little better and my temp is normal now.

When I got up and looked outside my kitchen window, I saw three cats on my deck. Gray Kitty was laying under the Christmas tree, Spooky was on the steps, and the fluffy black and white kitty (aka Snoopy) was drinking from the bowl. He is a real mess!! He is the one who was in that fight in my driveway awhile back and I found fur and blood all over. Now he has one ear pretty much ripped off! It is a fresh wound and has fresh blood around it and looks bad! I took some photos of it with my camera. As soon as I find the cord to hook my camera up to my laptop, I will post photos. Luckily, all three of those cats get along. Not sure who Snoopy is fighting with. If he won the fight, I sure would hate to see the loser! I would like to catch him and get him neutered. Would maybe calm him down and hopefully keep him from fighting with other cats (or whatever!). I think he is still living under the house across the street.

**Judy, get a bottle of L-Lysine! That will heal up your mouth sores in a hurry! I use that when I either burn the inside of my mouth, bite my tongue or cheek, or get a cold sore. Heals up in a day or two at the most.
I love grilled cheese and tomato sandwiches! :D
Catherine, sounds like you had a trip of a lifetime in Paris! So wonderful! Can you take your dog for long walks on the beach there? You both get more exercise that way!

Not a lot of energy so far this morning. I will start on getting the Christmas stuff off the deck and put away. Need to put all my beads away from making the golf counters. The lady who organizes the craft fair wants to know if I am participating in the next one next weekend. I only sold 6 counters so I will not do that again. I actually think I will give the whole box of beads and string to the thrift store and just keep the counters I have already made in case I want to give some away around here.

It is warm but overcast today. At least the temps are more normal now in the 70's. I hear more people out walking past my house in the mornings now.

I have never had chicken and dumplings. The one made with chicken noodle soup sounds good tho. I had chicken noodle soup yesterday. I pick out all the chicken tho because it is really gross! They use the leftover God-knows-what pieces in there!

Need to get Lola's feet soaked and cleaned today. She never cleans her feet so they get really dirty. Her nails are long too so those need to get trimmed. I got some wipes for her fur. She cleans herself occasionally but she gets real dusty when she is out on the porch so I got the wipes to clean off some of the dust so she doesn't have to lick that off when she takes a bath.

I guess that is it for now. Enjoy your day! :D

Good afternoon -

Still piles of snow and a possibility of a little bit tonight. They are adding extra help, bringing in bigger equipment and a dump truck tomorrow. 20 National Guard have been brought in to help with snow removal. Mountain passes are open for now. People with flights out of Seattle were in a bit of a pickle. Watching for UPS which is probably futile. Package out for delivery Wednesday went back to the barn that night! That seems to happen a lot here.

Neighbors upstairs have apparently forgotten someone lives below them. Didn't hear much before, but now they have me jumping often when they drop bowling balls or whatever they are doing!

Thus ends my complaints for the day. :)

Sheila, your ornament suggestion brought back memories! Our first tree was flocked aluminum with 2 shades of pink ornaments! Good suggestion - thanks.

Daughter saw doctor for swollen, painful cheek last month. By the time approval for CT scan came, whatever was gone. Swollen lymphnodes below her jaw and a lump on her neck so she is having the scan today. Her sister-in-law is having tests for cancer today.

Shirl, you crack me up! Those under the weather, feel better.

When you get that much snow, they can run out of places to put it all. Then they have to come in with trucks to haul it somewhere else. We used to get snowbanks so high that you couldn't see around them at intersections to see what cars were coming. At the malls they would pile the snow up at one end of the parking lot so high that it wouldn't completely melt until June or later!

I washed Lola's feet. Boy were they dirty!! Now she is upset with me, even tho I rewarded her with a little canned food afterward. Still need to clip her claws but she is still wet and grooming herself.

I found the cord to transfer photos from my camera to my laptop. :D So now I am transferring them over. I will post photos of the Thousand Palms Preserve and Joshua Tree NP where Linda and I went while she was here.

Here are the pics of Snoopy. That ear has got to hurt pretty bad!

Hi ladies! Believe it or not, I was actually going to check in today but time flies. :?

Major progress at dad's today. Everything is gone! Well except for the 1st edition books that is. I may be able to donate them to Domenican University. They're the only college left in Illinois that has a library science program.

The Junk guys came and took the 2 remaining couches, chairs and kitchen set. And my cousins son who is an electrician and lives next door took the Hi-Fi stereo. His wife wanted it but I told him if he can get it working, he can probably get $3000 for it. Newly weds always need money. All that's remaining is the bed I'm sleeping on. Lots of echos in the house now.

Also made 2 appointments today. One to get the camper out of storage mid-April and then another a few days later to get it dewinterized. A couple days in between to load up the camper. Hopefully I'll be on the road in May as long as the majority of Financials are done and income tax is complete.

Can you believe I may have up to 7 income tax returns to be done this year!? Two to close Ma's estate, two for Dad and two for my stepmom. The trusts can't be closed until I can get the properties sold (IL & FL). Then my own taxes. Geesh! My head spins sometimes just thinking about it.

That's it from me. And that's enough! ;)

Cheryl, good luck with your paper work. Just when I think I have everything finished something else shows up. Last year my CPA told me that the IRS thinks estates should be finished in 2 years. Well, no one had told me that. I will have to file another estate tax return for 2021. I think the DMV has opened back up so I need to see what I have to do to put the horse trailer in my name. I had forgotten about that and need to get rid of it. I'm surprised the DMV is open now since there are 29,000 cases of covid in the state and there weren't near that many months ago when they closed.

Shirl, it looks like your daughters have your sense of humor. My sister and I would have to get rid of some of the things our mother would wear. I have shirts with holes that I wear but try to not go to town in them. The cat Christmas overalls were the wildest things I have worn in a while. Today I saw Mardi Gras overalls at Walmart. I'm not going to the February campout where they will be celebrating Mardi Gras or I would think about getting some. I need to look for my Mardi Gras t-shirts.

Anita, I saw the snow pictures on Facebook. I'm glad I don't have to deal with that. I wasn't happy today because it was only 58. It felt colder than that because it was windy. I haven't put the motorhome up yet because it needs to be washed. I might try to do that tomorrow if the wind isn't blowing like it was today.

Barbie, will the spay and neuter place treat injured cats if you can trap them? That ear looks bad. There is a antibiotic shot that lasts for 2 weeks that my vet gives sometimes.

I took Sugar for her annual check up this morning. They wanted a stool sample and couldn't get one so wanted me to leave her. I went back at 5:00 and she still hadn't pooped. That means I will have to try to get one in the morning and bring it to town.

I got gas at the new Walmart gas station. They had completely torn down the old one and dug up the tanks. It now has a small indoor area but not much in there but snacks and drinks. It will be easier to get to the pumps with my motorhome.

I contacted the TNR lady and she said she thinks it is earmites. I doubt that because of the severe damage. However she did get me a spot at the Humane Society to bring him in on Friday, if I can trap him. We'll see...he is pretty smart and wary.

It has been 6 hours since I washed Lola's feet and she is still shaking each paw as she walks!

Hi Beth! Thanks for thinking of me. Yes, just checked, the phone I had wanted is now back on sale (LOL - that didn't take very long!). Unfortunately for Motorola - or fortunately, as the case may be - in the meantime I bought a different Motorola phone that is about $300 (!) less than the one that is again "on sale" (at the same price it was before).

I just needed a phone that could take "macro" photos, so I could use it to photograph items from my hand-made jewelry hobby. I am "building a store" on Etsy for my jewelry. It's being a lot of fun! I might post a link when my store is further along.

The new phone that I got seems to be getting the job done just fine, but it is a bit of a steep learning curve - smart phones have really changed a lot in the last five years. . . LOL. Who knew?  It's also nice to be keeping the extra money in my pocket (that is, off my credit card  )

Thanks again, Beth! :D

Anne, I'm glad you got a phone and like it. There is a more expensive Motorola I'd like, but I also was cheap... Got a less expensive one on sale and over a year later still love it. There's actually only one thing it doesn't have that I'd like, but never had that feature before so don't really miss it lol

Barbie, from your pictures I don't think ear mites either. But I hope you can catch him because he needs help. And thank you for all you do with these cats.

Ty just had his last potty break and is now upset because I didn't go straight to bed. Unfortunately this could mean my having to take him out again when I do. But I should know better lol

I got a text earlier tonight from my manager saying she needs someone to work for her tomorrow because one of her sons got injured at school today (was sent to the hospital!) and the other son tested positive for Covid. So she has her hands full! She was the only one working tomorrow. I told her I would work if she could find someone else to work with me. The new gal said she would work too. I have a feeling I may have to fill in for the next couple days as well. That's OK. I need the money and I am not scheduled again until next Monday. I did remember that I had a haircut scheduled for tomorrow at noon with a neighbor so I went over and tentatively rescheduled for Wednesday.
