Cloudy Tuesday Morning

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Cloudy Tuesday Morning

Postby Colliemom » Tue Jan 04, 2022 8:45 am

Good Morning from the 45th. Cloudy and 24 degrees out there. Supposed to go into 30’s today and then back into teens for highs. Another storm coming, but only 1-3 inches for us. The last one missed us all together, not even a flake. There’s only about 2 inches on the ground right now. Heck, there’s more snow in AL the up north here. Sounds like a mess on tbe East Shore too.

Shirl, glad to see you got the hang of picture posting. Love the pictures of Luca. Most dogs love snow. I don’t have a way to reduce my pics either, but as Beth said, bigger is better for phones and I think they bring out more detail too. Martha, your brothers phone issue reminds me of the time we had same type issue after we moved up here. Every time it rained, the phone would get all crackly and then a Day or so later, it would be fine. Phone company couldn’t figure it out either, checked the lines and everything. Was talking to neighbor down the road and mentioned that problem. She told me that a pole by them had been hit by lightening awhile back, hmmmm. So next time we had to call out the phone company, we mentioned it to the repair guy, told him which pole it was. So he went up the pole and lo and behold, the lightening apparently cracked one of those glass insulators they have on the poles. So every time it rains, it would fill up with water, short the phone line, then when it quit raining, it would dry out and things would be fine. He replaced the insulator and end of problem. Maybe your brother might mention that to the phone company. Could be an insulator causing his problem too.

Finished my sign project and reinstalled the sign yesterday while the sun was out. Now on to other things. Have stuff in the house I want to do. Thinking of getting some estimates on having lower half of bathrooms tiled or maybe just one for now. I really want to get that big garden tub out of my one bathroom and a regular tub installed. So will see which way I go. Finances, as usual will dictate that. Need to find out who can do the tub thing and it’s cost. But for today, it’s clean house, put a few new decorations in my ladder as took the Christmas parts off and give the fur babies a nice long walk.

Morning Sue and All, a sunny, cold 29° today. Our county is usually very good clearing roads after snow storms. Night time temperatures are a concern and I have an eye appointment tomorrow. Sue, having fun with the picture posting. Looking for anything to do except read the news. It’s my brother with the phone problem. I imagine his problem is the same as your neighbors. Heaven forbid someone checks on top of a pole for a lone senior citizen. They manage to deliver his phone bill on time. I really get aggravated when seniors are dismissed. Of course there are seniors who are stubborn and stuck in their ways. I can’t grab him and shake him like I did when we were kids. Lol Making a pot of chili for dinner and freezer. Be safe

Sue, I think you should sign your artistic work. Maybe a tiny collie image down in the corner. Lol

Nice job on the sign Sue!

It is 36* this morning so I have decided to stay in bed rather than go play golf! I would need mittens and ear muffs out there and I don't have any. They need to move the play time to 1:00 when it will be in the 50's. Supposed to start warming up to the mid 70's later this week.

I want to put away my Christmas stuff today. Will contact a couple people who inquired about haircuts and see if they want them today too.

I felt pretty good at work yesterday. Took some Pepto before work just in case. My shoulders are both feeling good now. Am very happy about that! My lower back has been bothering me but I think I discovered the cause of that. My side of the bed that I always sleep on is sagging and has an indentation where I sleep. I filled it in last night with some extra memory foam pieces I had so that helped. I will need to turn my mattress around tho so I can sleep on the other side of it where it is level. Makes me miss my airbed since I never had that issue with that one and I could make it as soft or hard as I wanted/needed.

We were busy at work yesterday afternoon. My co-worker and I talked about paranormal stuff in the morning. The day went by fast. I was gonna post on here last night but fell asleep while reading the other posts.

Linda headed out the other day and is now in Yuma for awhile. Sure was fun having here here and being able to spent time with her again. She is eventually heading to Iowa and has an apartment rented there to move in to. She still plans to travel but not full-time anymore.

Since I am back to cutting hair again, I am probably going back to my Plan A, which is to wait until next year when I can retire and start collecting SS. I will still work part time in the winters here and then take the summers off to travel using the money I earned from cutting hair during the winter. The only catch is coming up with the money to get a van, trailer or small RV to travel in. Need to start saving for that now. (Plan B was to sell the house, buy an RV and hit the road full-time. With the way things are now with all the Covid campers out there  , I don't feel comfortable with that plan now). So Plan A it is.

Enjoy your day!

Good Morning, The sun is in and out here but snow and much colder weather on Thursday. Of course that is the day I'm scheduled for cataract surgery. I watched a great video from the Mayo Clinic showing how to put eye drops in successfully and it was really good. It also showed how to apply light pressure to the insides of your eyes for 5 minutes so the medications don't get into your system! The surgeon told me I don't have to have the sedation but... I called the surgical center to tell them I had forgotten to add one of my medication allergies and they didn't have any of that information! I asked about what the surgeon had said about the sedation and they checked and said probably not possible!! I am very allergic to valium and and the answer I got was they don't give you much!!!! So now the doctor and anesthesiologist are going to chat!! Needless to say I am even more nervous!!
Judy sorry your dental work was such an ordeal!! Great sign Sue. Shirlv hope your weather improves soon.

Sue, you did a great job on the sign. I would so love to get my big bathroom remodeled and get that garden tub out of there. I am going to have to find a plumber to come work on one of the toilets. The tank won't hold water so I had to turn the water off to it. I tried putting a new gasket but that didn't work. This house was built like they build RV's. They cut every corner they could. I'm just glad it's well insulated and my electric bill is low.

We missed the freeze last night, it only got down to 34. It looks like the sun is trying to come out.

Sheila, sometime post your recipe for butter chicken. I have found two brands of butter chicken frozen dinners but I'm sure homemade would be better.

My filing cabinet came yesterday and it fits where I wanted to put it. It came in the mail. Seems like something too big to come USPS. The box shows a two man lift but they sent it out with the lady that delivers the mail. I had to drag it up the steps. It's just in time to change over to the new year. I put 2021 in the bottom drawer so won't have a file box in the floor until I get through with the taxes. I burned 2007 papers to reuse the file folders.

I need to start my list for the campout this weekend. This might be one of my favorite campout, only a 10 mile drive to Abbeville. I have never stayed at the city owned campground. The hosts said the "theme" is Silver and Gold? I don't have any cloths that glitter anymore. They are furnishing two meals and I'm sure we will eat out at least once. The restaurant that Abbeville is famous for has $3 Bloody Mary's on Saturday. I found out the last campout we had here that I can't drink 2 of them.

Barbie, I think plan A sounds better to me. I don't think I would be happy without a home base I could return to if I needed to. I like to take trips but am always happy when I turn onto my road. I am bad about driving too long when I'm headed home because I know they have to take me in. lol

Hi ladies!

Sue, I agree with the others that you do good work and like the picture of the collie Shirl left on her post. Sheila, I would like to see the recipe for the butter chicken, too.

We got down to 39 degrees early this morning but we are already above 70. We should top off around 73 both today and tomorrow. Like where Shirl is, our former home in MD got snow yesterday.

Barbie, like Martha, I like your Plan A, too. When we sold our home, we put the money from the sale of that into a separate account in case we ever need it and fortunately everything else we have is paid off. You'll figure out what works for you.

Brenda is coming this afternoon to discuss some day trips we'd like to take while she is here. She's so much fun to be with when we get together.

Continue staying safe.

Been a slow morning around here. I am very tired of being sick!!! But I think I feel better today. I did go down and get the mail and will probably throw in a load of laundry. Our weather is just rain rain and more rain. This weekend is supposed to be nice tho. I dont have much of an appetite so just had some hot cereal and juice for breakfast. Maybe just some soup later. I am drinking alot of water tho, trying to flush out the bad juju.

Barbie I was always grateful the alphabet has 26 letters, ya know, just in case I need them.
I need to take down my Christmas porch lights but not feeling the love to do that today. I am happy just sitting in my recliner with my heated throw and water. Such an exciting life I am leading right now.

I think I've gone through the whole alphabet a few times lol. I have people shocked that I have the lot and casita but am planning another winter (or more) here in Texas. That said, I changed sites this morning and am all settled in, watching TV.

Sue, I agree about your sign work. Always great. And I do love Shirl's idea about a collie picture for a signature. I bet everyone there would know immediately it means you.

Whoever mentioned chili, I pulled some out of the freezer and doctored the portion I fixed last night, including making it a chili mac. What I didn't realize was how much I put in that freezer bag I thawed. I usually do single or 2 servings. This will give me at least 3 servings and since I thawed the whole thing out, you know my dinner for today and tomorrow lol. At least I can change it up. No macaroni tonight, for example.

We're up to 72 now. Probably today's high or close to it. The next 2 days back to low 80's. If all goes well, no need for AC or heat for a few days. But I've become a wimp. If it's not warmed up enough when I get up I turn the heat up for a bit while I get dressed, etc.

I think it's time for Ty and I to go check out the birds.

I need a caregiver. Don’t know what activities other people my age do but am going to give myself a heart attack. I have had the ROKU box for a good while. I have to be in the right frame of mind or out of my mind to tackle technology. It was a chore just moving tv, finding the right holes for plugs using a flashlight. Then started working on setting up using remote to type in information on the tv screen. Sentences flashed on the screen faster than I could read them. They would then say since you didn’t answer and flash another sentence. I haven’t a clue what I signed up for and I only wanted free channels. I think I named ROKU in my Will. If I signed up for one particular news channel I will shoot myself. I turned off the tv and Will turned it on again in the spring. Going to play with my IPad and watch YouTube gardening. Geeezzzz

Very rough night and weird day. I had a lot of pain yesterday in late afternoon and evening, so I took half of a vicodin, but it did nothing. So I took a whole one just before bed. Slept from 12:30 am to 2:30 am, but then woke up in pain and spent rest of night and morning in pain--not just the jaw, but all the way into my eyeball, I swear! And half of my face is swollen, so I look like a weird chipmonk. Got maybe another hour sleep between 11 am and noon, and called dentist. Got appt for 1 pm, went in, but he said swelling was expected. He told me he opened up the gum very widely, and stuffed as many bone particles in as possible to close the hole that went from where my tooth went to the sinus under my eye. Said that was a lot more extensive than gets done for most people, hence my pain and swelling.

I wonder if that hole in my sinus, which he said was quite large, has been causing me to be so stuffed up? Can you have a sinus infection and not know it.

Anyway, headed back to Florida tomorrow morning. Will be nice to have sunshine and warmth.

Shirl, I can so relate to your Roku experience! While I was on the road, smart TV became a thing. :o Connecting accessories was an experience. Happy you are able to post photos!

My goodness, Karen, I didn't realize your 'bug' had held on this long! Glad you are feeling better. Monica was exposed to Covid by a coworker yesterday.

I'm back to jumping from one project/chore to another. They sent an e-mail that snow plow would be working here this afternoon so good time to uncover cars. Well, lesson learned and next year I won't let it pile up. I got some of it off and shoveled out into the driveway for plowing, but I'm not a youngin' anymore! Didn't measure but guess 14+ inches. Walked down to the garage and started the Sling.

Highways and mountain passes have been a mess the past few days with accidents and closures.

Everyone be safe!

Thanks for your compliments everyone. I won’t take credit for that sign as it wasn’t of my doing. It’s a sign the POA had made a few years ago to replace one that got stolen. At that time it was a very dark brown with green routed letters and trees. The green on the lettering wasn’t really visible unless you were close to it though. One of the Board members got it lightened up a bit with some lighter green paint. About 5 years ago, the Board President who was my across the road neighbor, suggested to the POA Board that maybe it be repainted with the current colors. A resort near here has those colors on their sign and he really liked it. Course their sign is fancier being a business. So he offered to repaint it and I offered to help if he wanted. He painted the white and gave it to me to do the trees and lettering. This summer it was starting to look a bit faded and in need of a facelift, which I did. My New Year’s gift to the neighborhood.

All this talk of chili on here got me hungry for some. Just bought some ground beef to freeze, so made a pot of chili for supper. We are turning into Foodies

chili does sound good... but mom doesn't like beans and I gasp don't like chili without beans  and I hate making two meals for two people...
for some reason the pellet stove isn't igniting this room (living room) is always cold regardless rather it works or not... but need to figure out what to do .. that room only has residue heat from the other rooms without the pellet stove running
it is a nice sign Sue.... I'm sure that it brightens up the neighborhood... while we were in Island Park camp hosting Larry didn't like the signs that the signs for the campgrounds were not looking great so he took it upon himself to repaint them .... the forest service was muchly appreciated. Even now when I drive through there they still look so much better...
called my friend today just for a chat 2.5 hours later we hung up so there went my day... didn't accomplish anything at all but visiting with a dear friend...and a few other things... but not much for the day...
In many ways I wish that we hadn't sold our house but it was what we had to do in order to RV.. my plans are still to go back to Q rather it is this winter or not... hopefully we can figure out what to do for next winter so I can go down...
think I am going to go make me some hot chocolate... might head to my bedroom earlier than it's been I like Murder She Wrote but after about 2 hours ready for respite after that...
hopefully tomorrow I will post the recipe... but it's full of calories one of those once in awhile and one that you just don't want to know the nutrients of it... :o :o
you all have a good night

I think you are very wise not to sell your home.
