Snowy Sunday!

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Snowy Sunday!

Postby JudyJB » Sun Jan 02, 2022 9:49 am

Sitting in hospital this morning and saw doctor. Son is slowly getting better but several days away from getting out of here.

Also woke up to two inches of new snow. Have only sandals with me (I know) so got feet wet. Had to brush car off — first time in ten years!! Made it to hospital and ladies at check in said I should have socks and I did I want a pair but I said no thanks. But got up to area near sons room and nurse handed me pair of socks!!! They had called ahead!! Busted.

Drove here from Cleveland yesterday and will head back there around noon. Want to get there before dark. Got dental appointment tomorrow morning.

Afternoon All, cloudy and mild today but 6-10” of snow predicted for tonight into tomorrow. Haven’t had snow in a long time so something different. Just spent 1 1/2 hr on hold with Verizon and finally just hung up. When it rains my brother has no phone service and this has been going on for 42 years. He has no service and calls me from neighbors to call Verizon. He lives in the boonies, surrounded by woods so no cell service. While on hold I sent an email to our county commissioners asking for help. Brother is waiting for hospital call if his scheduled surgery is canceled because of Covid so needs a phone. Would think the amazing Verizon could fix the problem in 42 years. Guess they haven’t heard of duct tape. Judy be safe and put on the darn socks. Lol

Judy, I could easily see myself with only my sandals. But I would have accepted the socks without question. Nice of them to get you some.

Shirl, my first workamping job (2006 in New Hampshire) I was told not to expect a cell signal. I had AT&T at the time so decided to check with Verizon (even though the owner told me his Verizon cell phone didn't work at the CG). Verizon told me in no uncertain terms that they had cell service there. Luckily I decided to get there before switching (cell service was not far away). Verizon had out and out lied about their service to try to get me to switch. Funny thing was I could hike up a short hill in the cg to get a signal and check messages, make calls, etc. I was allowed to use the cgs office dial up internet service for my computer lol those were the days. It's terrible that they aren't getting your brothers phone working. I hope as I write this that it's up again.

Nothing going on here today. Was windy as all get out over night and the cold front moved in this morning. Still windy but not as bad. I went from one of my lightest weight sundresses yesterday to leggings and a long sleeved heavier dress today. My neighbor was supposed to pull out today, but as of now is still here. I'm guessing she's holding off until tomorrow. I would be.

I'm changing sites Tuesday. I'm not sure why we picked Tuesday, but did lol. I've talked to the owners about the possibility of returning next year and we looked at sites that I could have other than the one I'm in). It's a catch-22 as there are things I like about my site but I also couldn't back in (well wouldn't want to) without help because with one of the trees, I have to fold in my driver's side mirror, for example). If I come back I want to be able to take some couple day trips with the rig and be able to come back easily. I didn't expect my favorite site would be available (it's not) but I had 2 other choices from the available list that I picked. Yesterday they asked if I wanted to move to one of those (the person left 2 days ago from that site) and I said yes. If, for any reason, I don't like it, they'll hold the 3rd site available for me to select. Sites here are, for the most part, small. Old park, etc. But I like it for various reasons. So move I shall do and see if this site checks enough of my boxes.

This is going to be a mixed up week for me. Yesterday felt like a Sunday and today is Sunday. Yesterday it was 81 and tonight it's suppose to be 28. I was out covering up faucets and the wind was going right through my jacket. I told Sugar her walk was cancelled. Wednesday I have a meeting if I don't forget again and camping Thursday.

My phone is AT&T and my tablet is Verizon. Sometimes one will work and not the other. I can't make a call on the tablet but at least I can get on line if there is a signal. You almost have to be able to see a cell phone tower to have a strong signal so they are not going to put towers where there are few people. Until recently my sister had to stand on her front porch to get a signal and then it was still iffy.

I'm cooking a meatloaf in the slow cooker mostly to see if I can. In case I ever want to make one when I'm camping. I saw a recipe on Facebook that called for a Meatloaf Seasoning Mix. I looked for some at the grocery and found 2 brands. I don't know if that is something new but I had never seen it before. It is up to 160 degrees in 3 hours so should be done in another hour.

I woke up after 10 hours of sleep with high hopes of maybe getting something done around here. An hour later I was in the bathroom... :o . Not sure if that is a side effect from the booster or from something I ate yesterday. Took some Pepto so that helped some. Have been laying on my bed all day just watching YouTube videos about a ghost town in CA that a guy bought and is restoring.

So that has been my day.

Back to work tomorrow and then Tuesday off.

OMG, Barbie! I LOVE this guys YouTube channel (Ghost Town Living. Right? - https://www.youtube.com/c/GhostTownLiving). I have been a "subscriber" of this channel for quite a while!

SO interesting! But. . . I don't know if I like it or not when he ropes down into the abandoned mines that seem to be all over the place there - 900 feet straight down into one of them! Absolutely gives me the willies, that's for sure!

MUCH better than any fictional tv show one might watch, IMO.

What do you like the best about these videos, Barbie?

Martha, I, too, felt like it was Sunday yesterday. So was thinking when we talked I'd be moving sites Tuesday would be tomorrow tomorrow, but then at some point today I realized it was Sunday today. Yep, I've been totally confused. So good I don't have to be any where. Holidays can sure mess things up, especially when not working.

good thing it felt like Sunday otherwise I wouldn't have made it to church
we have a different schedule instead of going at 9 we now go at 11:30 out at 1:30 sure cuts down on the nap lol had visitors today so that cut down on it more... will get used to this new schedule I'm sure... was going to go to Idaho Falls talked my niece into taking me however in case she couldn't gave dd the list she was able to get the stuff so no need to go.. niece and family is going to come for supper... not sure what I'm going to fix but it will be chicken something as that is what I pulled out of the freezer... butter chicken sounds good will need to look and see if I have all the ingredients... if not perhaps chicken alfredo or angle chicken haven't had that in forever but think that one calls for creme cheese and don't have a full brick of it... hmm going to have to do some thinking
it is so cold you will get tired of that phrase before I start warming up it seems like I'm never warm it's up to 10 it was during chat 8 as we were talking about the weather so looked at that time.... however it's suppose to change weather alert is on for tomorrow night... guess we will see. guess we could do chicken noodle soup or chicken corn chowder but it seems like that soup is all I make when they are coming :o
you all have a great day
aren't sandals the thing to wear in the snow? did so today

Anne, I watched quite a few episodes. I felt so sick when the motel burned down! That guy really has invested so much of himself into the town and to see how devastated he was, was heartbreaking.

I love the mine he was in that had the blue/green rock with all the crystals! I would have gotten chunks of that for sure! When he was going into those mines by himself, I had to remind myself that he obviously got out alive or the video would not have gotten posted. I sure wouldn't be caught dead going into those mines! (except maybe the crystal one).

I wouldn't want to live there but would love to visit and take a look around. I love old buildings, cars, etc and the history of the wild west and gold rush days.
