New Years Eve 2021

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

New Years Eve 2021

Postby Shirlv » Fri Dec 31, 2021 10:20 am

Morning All. Going to be a rainy weekend on the shore. Family likes to give me restaurant gift cards for Mother’s Day, birthday, etc. They are so appreciated. There is a nice rib restaurant close by and I have a card. The card covers two meals so will order carry out and deliver one to my brother. We are staying home so will make New Years a little special. I for one will celebrate the end of 2021 and pray next year will be better for all. Sheila, I bought floating flooring for my rv but it wasn’t installed before I sold it. Buyer was a diy guy and looking forward to the renovation. I found a video on good ole YouTube for you to watch. It’s posted in Maintenance. Hope it helps you make a decision. Always fun to watch. Other than food delivery no big plans for the day. Be safe.

Here's my wish my sister shared with me this morning and I want to share with all of you.

Good morning. I think I am coming back to the land of the living............slowly. Dang it has been a week but hoping the worst is over, I have plenty of food and drugs so I am good ha ha
Hard to decide if it is a cold virus, "the virus" or the Flu virus. They all manifest the same way. I am thinking cold or flu as I still have sense of taste and smell. In any case I will not be going anywhere soon. Making soup today and some jello. Will be a nap later also. Shower is still up in the air. I took one yesterday and it kind of wore me out so we shall see.

Wishing everyone a Happy New Year and I am looking forward to 2022. Just for kicks if nothing else.

Karen, sorry you have been sick. The covid cases have really gone up in Louisiana and I probably shouldn't be going to a restaurant or Walmart. We are waiting to see what the Governor is going to do about masks. Guess I don't need someone to tell me I should be wearing one.

I need to get dressed and go to the grocery store. I didn't pick up any cabbage yesterday. I like smothered cabbage but don't think about cooking any except on New Years. My yard could stand to be mowed. The grass isn't growing much but the weeds are. Harold would say that whatever you do on New Years you will do all year. He made a point of riding. Maybe I should mow today and not tomorrow so I don't have to mow all year. :)

Good morning, Karen. Sorry to hear that you have been so ill, glad to hear you are beginning to feel a bit better.

I have been reading that the current variant that is rushing around does not always manifest with loss of taste and/or smell, but features night sweats instead as a kind of added "bonus". And severe fatigue. But not in all patients. . .

Here's hoping that you continue to improve and are soon feeling back to normal.

What a time this has been - for all of us.

Stay well, everyone.

Ouch, ouch, and ouch!! I hurt all over! I feel crappy, tired, have a headache, and hurt everywhere, especially my upper arm where I got the injection. Better this, than actually having Covid, tho. I just took another Advil. I think I will stay in bed all day and just chill. Lola likes that idea too. I read that I should try to keep moving the affected arm with exercises a couple times a day. Will try.

So, obviously no plans for New Years Eve here. Both stray kitties are sleeping under the Christmas tree this morning. I may have to leave it up all year!

Karen, sorry you are sick. Maybe take a sponge bath instead. Or just stand in the shower for a minute or two and then get out. Either way, will make you feel a little better. Soup is good for colds too!

I have my baked spaghetti to eat but not feeling very hungry. I took one little spoonful last night just to test it and it is just as good as the regular spaghetti, but will be easier to cut into small servings.

Sunny and will be about 60* today, same for the rest of the weekend. I am sure the mountains look really pretty and white but I can't see those from here, just the smaller ones behind our park, which are too small to get snow most of the time.

Sure glad I don't have to work for 3 more days! I got a couple of text messages yesterday for haircuts here in the park but will have to put those off until Tuesday.

Have a good New Years and lets hope 2022 is better for all of us!!

Beth, I liked your sisters wish! Sorry you are sick Karen and hope you are on the mend.

Several of my family members have some form of Covid. I'm not sure how they tell the difference. My older brother refuses to wear a mask and of course did not get the vaccine. He and his wife, who says she was vaccinated, have it. Brother was refusing to get tested but guess finally they both felt so bad they went to ER and were given the infusion. My niece and nephews families got together and now several are ill. My younger brother was vaccinated but didn't get the booster and he's been sick. I doubt seriously if any of them quarantined. Older brother went to Cracker Barrel yesterday of course without a mask. I haven't seen them in over two years and don't plan on it any way soon!

One of my friends from grade school had to evacuate her home near Denver last night. The 100 mile an hour wind suddenly stopped or her home would be gone.

Happy New year to all, I'm sure we are all wishing for the pandemic to be over!!!

Just ran out to get an x-ray of the bone around the tooth that they will be doing a bone graft for on Monday. Might have to delay my trip home an extra day because they want me to not fly for 48 hours.

Son is doing a bit better. Scan showed what we expected--an irritated pancreas. They gave him a little food and it caused pain, so they are putting in a feeding tube--yuck. I will be heading there tomorrow morning, with plans to get there by about 1 pm. Will spend the night and then come back on Sunday night.

Sheila, here is a link to one pill reminder. They have quite a few, but some of them just set off an alarm, and don't dispense anything, so you might to make sure you are getting the one that would be best for your mom. I think you are trying to control her Tylenol, right?? Would her doctor allow her to also take something like Aleve to fill in the times when she is in pain but can't take any more Tylenol?

Karen I hope that you begin to recover your health and strength. I have to admit that I had a day or two of worry after I made it back from the National Dog show in Orlando. We wore masks and avoided restaurants, etc., but boy was I wiped out for about two days and worst than normal.... Not other real symptoms so I have chocked it up to exhaustion but it reminded me of last winter when I was no more than a slug on the couch and when I was finally able to take showers I would have to take in a stool to sit on and then collapse back on the bed or couch afterwords.

And Judy, hope all goes well with the work on your implant. Your continuing story regarding your son gives me flash backs to last winter also.....and too many weeks with a feeding tube up my nose and down the throat and through the stomach....with the pump working day and night. Hope his body begins to quiet down the inflammation and begins to heal. I know that I don't ever want to be that sick again.....It is not a good way to lose weight.

I was feeling pretty good most of the day but now am feeling bad again. I took another Advil. My temp is almost 100 now. Feeling achy again and tired, and my ears are ringing (which happens when I have a fever).

I did get a couple short books read today and am on a third one but too tired now to read any more. I did have some spaghetti for lunch. It was really good. I think I will put some of it in containers and freeze it for lunches. I doubt I can eat that whole thing this weekend, especially with not being very hungry. I will have a little more tonight tho.

Had my bedroom window open all day and enjoyed the cool fresh air coming in. I read about the terrible fires around Denver! How Awful! One right near Boulder with 1000 homes burned to the ground. Winds in the 100 teens blowing it all around! :o Another fire near Estes Park and one just south of Denver. So many disasters lately! :(

Might watch the ball drop tonight and then go to bed.

Gotta remember to say "RABBITS" after midnight!

Barbie, that looks like a lot of spaghetti. Thanks for the rabbits reminder. Hope I remember. Hope you feel better.

There are fireworks going off way to the South of me. It's the first time I have ever seen anyone shoot any down here. I can just see a little of them over the trees. It takes about 5 seconds to hear the bang after I see the fireworks so they are a long way off. If I was that interested I could probably drive to where I could see them better but there will be some on TV later.

Been another quiet day here. Took a shower and just kind of collapsed in my recliner for most of the day. Now the dog thinks this is the greatest thing. She is going to be sorely disappointed soon I hope. I have housework and laundry to do so I need to get better soon. My biggest issue now is a relentless cough. Taking cough drops but they are all gone so now resorting to tea with honey, that actually seems to be working. It is always worse in the evening for some reason. Jerry will pick me up some more tomorrow as he is going to the store. He can deliver them to the porch, I sure dont want him to get whatever I have.

My cousin in Calgary is freezing -11, -13, -11 the next few days this week BRRRRR pretty sure it will be dropping down into the states soon. We are going to be 27° and 29° the next couple of nights. I like no minus sign in front of those temps. Will continue to just kick back this weekend and hopefully be much improved next week.

Barbie that spaghetti pie looks good. Never heard of that before. I hope to watch the ball drop at 9pm this old lady hasn't seen midnight for many many moons. Judy hope your son gets better soon, no fun for sure. I actually hate being sick. Very frustrating for sure. I want instant cure but that doesnt seem to be happening this time. But I am feeling better, no nap today, will just go to bed early. I will try to remember rabbits. Hope not alot of fireworks or gunshots tonite. Emma hates any of those loud noises.

Son still does not have a feeding tube, don't know if he really will get one. His biggest problem is falling asleep and then not being able to push the button on the pain pump. I cannot understand this, because when I had pancreatitis in 2006, I was on IV morphine, and they just came in and replaced the IV every 10-12 hours. They asked how much I wanted, and I was comfortable nearly the whole time. I know the purpose of the pump was to give the user control, but I never took the full amount. My son keeps waking up in pain every time he falls asleep.

Tina, you certainly were really, really sick. And it sounds as if it has taken a long time to recover.

I am heading to the hospital tomorrow--long drive but need to go.
