ALASKAN EARTHQUAKE??

Postby Nasoosie » Mon Jun 22, 2009 3:40 pm

I just heard on the news of a sort-of strong (5 point something on the Richter Scale) that struck just a bit ago near Anchorage. Any of our Ididaroad travelers feel it?

From what I can tell, they are in or near Fairbanks - at least Beth, Liz, and Carol. That is a good distance north of Anchorage.
Also just saw a report that no serious damage or injuries have been reported.

Yes, they are probably too far north to have felt it. Although Ron, who is on his way to meet up with them again, did feel it! He knew right away what it was as he has quakes regularly where he comes from.

Earthquakes happen so frequently up there I'm sure they'll experience at least one.

Yep, AK gets a lot of earthquakes, rarely with damage. Also, yep, LIz, Carol and I are still in Fairbanks and didn't feel it. I just checked into a park for tonight. Liz and Carol will most likely join me after they get the generator looked at. That is the deciding factor. I'm ready to move on from Fairbanks! Although Walmart was glad to see me.
