Sunday December 26

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Sunday December 26

Morning All, 50°and sunny. We survived another Christmas. The family Christmas Eve dinner was wonderful. As usual we brought up the past and most of it pertained to my parenting skills. :D The great grands kept looking at me strangely but then I never had to be mean to them. Lol oldest daughter won the ugly sweater contest. She sewed battery operated lights on her dress. She glowed all night. She is planning a butterfly garden. Her daughter gave her a metal garden sign that had a picture of her father and one of his silly rhymes that made his young children scream with laughter. We were building more memories. I feel exhausted so plan to do absolutely nothing for the next few days. Be safe

Shirl, I do nothing too often now. I'm not sure I'm any less exhausted on those days. I do feel I'm becoming my mom more and more at this age. She wasn't a big TV watcher, but it was always on. For a few years in my RV I didn't even have a TV. Now, if I'm in it, except when I'm in bed, almost always the TV is on. Background noise, I guess. I've discovered two over the air stations here that spend days playing one after the other shows of various series (CSI, Chicago Fire, Blue Bloods, etc) and I never watched them when they were on, so watching now, kind of. Then there are the reality cooking shows, that I watch on Roku. I guess mainly mindless stuff. Even the movies I pick to watch are mainly mindless.

Just think, one week and this year is over. Maybe I'll decide to put my mind to work again. Maybe.

Good morning all. Yesterday turned out to be just another day for me. Son told me my step granddaughters had been around their dad on Tuesday and on Wednesday he felt bad, tested positive on Thursday. They did a home test yesterday morning which was negative but after much thought I decided to opt out of dinner with them. Not sure that I totally trusted the timing of the testing so ended up deciding it just wouldn’t be worth taking the chance. So I took advantage of the 57 degree day and when it wasn’t raining I did a couple of things outside and messed around in the rv. Ran the generator etc. Kind of a bummer of a day. But things happen sometimes. I just hope all is going to be okay with the girls. Luckily they are vaccinated but the numbers are super high in the county. I have no plans for today, just see what I decide to get into! I have plenty to keep me busy if I decide to get into something!! Hope everyone had a good day yesterday and that you can do something enjoyable today!

Good morning. Was tired of listening to the news people telling us snow was coming. I said I will believe it when I see it. WELL, went to let the dog out this morning and whoa, we have 4 inches of snow and it is still snowing. The flakes get big for a while then go back to the small ones. I don't really care as I have zero plans to go anywhere. They say it will last into tomorrow, we shall see. But it sure is pretty, that part I like.

Had a nice quiet day yesterday and didn't do much. Today will be more of the same after I do a few housekeeping chores. I need to find something to watch on the tv. I am still trying to watch Heartland, and I like it but there are 14 seasons and I am only on season 4, so I get a little bored with the same show. Think I will just look for a movie and not a Christmas movie.

Had breakfast so now time for a shower and get it together to start my day

Good Morning, I survived Christmas and we had a very good dinner with our friends. We had my favorite chocolate cheesecake and there was enough left over that we brought some home. We took the puppy and her small crate and she did great. She did bark a little once at a beautiful fluffy cat that was almost three times her size. The other dogs amused themselves in another room chewing on antlers. It was the warmest Christmas on record her at a balmy 72 degrees!! After so much time not being able to socialize much I find it rather exhausts me. I came home, took a nap, had a bit of dinner and then slept through most of Call the Midwife!

Had to add this picture. Pippa plays with all her toys but seems to favor this raggedy bear. I think she looks like she is saying "see my trophy bear"

It made it to 80 yesterday but is only 78 so far today. The weather people talk about setting records but don't know if we did. I survived another Christmas too. Yesterday I woke up with a headache that lasted until about 3:30 so was glad I didn't have to cook. I'm making up for it today. I probably get about 20 emails a day with recipes. Most get deleted but sometimes I see one I want to try. This morning I saw a recipe for a one serving of scolloped potatoes so made that. Since the oven was hot decided to make Beth's cranberry things, kind of. I didn't have puff pastry so used crescent dough sheet. They would be better with puff pastry but they won't go to waste. Last week I was wanting to make some of the Spicy Ranch Crackers. I couldn't find any of the mini crackers so bought a bag of oyster crackers. I made them too except left the red pepper flakes off. Those things are too hot. I should be good, snack wise, for a while.

If I could get the PBS channel over the air I could probably cancel Direct. I'm watching Midsummer Murders. It's a rerun but I don't remember much about it because I am usually on the computer so don't pay a lot of attention to the TV. I think I just want the noise. The weather channel is probably on as much as anything. Some friends from our horse days said on Facebook that their son will be on Yellowstone tonight. He's a cutting horse trainer so will probably be shown working cattle. I don't even know what channel Yellowstone is on or if I get it.

Sharon, sorry you didn't get to see your family for Christmas. I need to go mess around in the rv and do some cleaning. I keep watching the weather to see if there might be a freeze coming. I need to go winterize the camp. It would probably be fun to go for New Years and there will be fireworks. Where I live I seldom hear any and if I do they are not near.

Good afternoon!

A lazy day - I can relate to the 'do nothing' posts. :) Will watch Seahawks just because they will be playing on snowy Seattle field. :)

Friday the kids asked if I wanted to go for a scenic ride. Some of you have seen the video on FB of my daughter and I trudging through knee deep snow back to the car after getting to the perfect picture spot. What fun! They brought me home and a while later Alan texted to see if I wanted to spend the night at their house so they came and got me again. Yesterday he fixed a wonderful ham dinner. He got an air fryer for Christmas so will be fun to follow his 'education'. The kids both bought 'first Christmas married' ornaments for each other which were very sweet. Just before time to come home, snow started between their place and mine. I was happy when we were all home safe. I could have driven, but would really appreciated not having to do so last night! Plus I came home with leftovers plus two kinds of turkey soup Monica made!

Martha, I just caught the tail end of Yellowstone since it was recommended to me by Linda's friend, Lori. Too much cussing in it tho. I started watching 1883 after that, which is the same family but starts with them heading west in a wagon train years earlier. Sam Elliot, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill... Looks like my kind of show but runs too late for me, so I turned it off.

I managed to get packed up after work on Friday and headed up to 29 Palms to visit with Linda and her friend Lori for Christmas. Had a nice gentle rain all night long at home on Thursday night, but up in the high desert they got heavy rains. Luckily most of the flooded roads were clear by the time I got up there.

We went out to Denny's for dinner and Linda paid for all of it. We all had really good meals! Drove around to see some lighted homes and spent a few hours later just talking before heading to bed. Yesterday, we watched the movie, "Mama Mia" and then had a nice rib roast, baked potatoes, and pumpkin pie for desert. I wanted to leave by 3:30 so I could get home before dark but ended up not leaving until after 4:30. Lots of traffic heading back. There is a winding mountain pass down to the valley from there that I wanted to not have to do in the dark, but it turned out not too bad even with all the traffic. No crazy speeding cars. Then once I was at the bottom, the winds were crazy!! I had to keep both hands on the wheel to keep the car as much in my lane as I could! The freeway was the same way! Luckily, most of the traffic on the freeway was heading towards LA and I was heading the other way. Got home safely around 6pm but tired. Fell asleep by 8:30. The wind howled outside all night long!

Worked today from 10-4. I figured it would be really dead but we were very steady all day! WM was a zoo too. Just relaxing tonight. My right shoulder is still sore and I could really feel the strain on it when I was doing fades, where I really have to push the clippers close along the scalp to cut the hair almost to the skin. I am sure I will feel the effects of that tomorrow. The other gal I work with (besides my manager) is very nice. She is fairly new out of school but seems to be pretty good already. My last customer today came in 10 minutes before we closed and had long, super kinky curly hair! :o She also had her young son with her who is very autistic, so she kept having to get up and chase him around the salon and get him under control. Needless to say, we didn't get out of there on time. But that is the way it goes sometimes.

Sharon, sorry you didn't get to be with your family for Christmas but better safe than sorry! Just not worth taking that chance. Hopefully, you can get together with them later for a do-over.

Time for bed...I should sleep good again tonight. I have to now sleep only on my back since I can no longer sleep on my right side. I am a side sleeper by habit so that is hard to keep from rolling onto my side during the night. Took me a long time to learn not to sleep on my left side too.

it was a normal Sunday went to church game home and because mom hadn't taken her morning pill we had breakfast/lunch a bit latter.. she actually came to find me to see when it was going to be I thought it was an hour after taking if but seems it was only 1/2 hour.. so got up and made pancakes bacon and eggs didn't like the pancake mix gave it to niece it just was heavy .... pancakes aren't meant to be heavy
I know with me the tv or radio is for the background noise... when I'm in my home the radio is on till the tv comes on and if I'm boondocking that isn't until evening for a couple of hours... then it's back to the radio which at night is a battery powered one...
I would like to try those brie bites as well hopefully I will try to remember to get the puff pastry something else I wanted to try with it if I can remember what it was that is...or where I saved it so I can find it...
my eldest daughter and her family got snowed in over in Idaho they are hoping they will be able to go back to Utah tomorrow... guess it was a combo of wind and snow that closed the roads and other routes weren't any better... my third dd was going to come over with her son and his family today but the pass was closed and the main road through Driggs and Victor was zero visibility so they didn't come... however nephew was able to make it back to Jackson said was horrible but they made it...so goes snow in the highcountry... I made the comment to my brother about how low Palisades Reservoir was he said Jackson Lake is even worse... we so need to have snow this year.... or there maybe no Idaho potatoes... as a lot of their irrigation water comes from those two bodies of water... we all rely on water from the biggest mammal to the smallest thing ... we need to use whatever means we use to communicate with whomever we believe in and ask for the needed moisture
mom asked what the agenda was for tomorrow me I don't have one... I read scriptures today took a nap and didn't hear my phone... then realize that I'd not been hearing pings of any kind so went looking some how it was put on do not disturb.... how does that happen???? I didn't do it
well you have a great day enjoy the relaxing day tomorrow I hopefully will

Sounds like most of you had a nice Christmas. Not what we would wish the day could be, but doable. We're pretty good at winging it.

Our day was good, too, considering we were 1 meat and potatoes only person, 1 vegan, 1 vegetarian, and me - I eat almost anything. Christmas evening No. 1 son and I watched The Wizard of Oz on a PBS channel! When the boys were young we had to watch that movie anytime it came on so I was just about able to say the parts along with the actors! It's been such a long time since I had seen it that I enjoyed it. I'm one of those crazy folks who likes Hallmark/Lifetime movies. I like happy endings. When my hubby died those movies saved me from sliding into a deep funk that first Christmas. I agree this year's batch aren't as good as the older ones. I really like Hallmark Movies and Mysteries best, tho. Wish they would have more of the mystery series ones but they seem to only do one or two of each a year.

Martha, give us the one serving scallop potato recipe.

Drove to Hillsborough River SP--here for one night and flying out tomorrow to Ohio, via Atlanta. Just as I got here, I got a call from younger son. He and his wife and three kids and older son and his wife and two kids drove to their dad's in Michigan to visit for a couple of hours. Unfortunately, older son got a really bad pancreatitis attack. He has had them off and on for several years, but apparently, this was a really bad one. So younger son and his wife took him to big hospital north of Detroit. Actually, it was one they were both born in.

Younger son's wife drove all five kids back to Ohio--luckily, they had taken two cars. Hospital admitted older son and tossed his wife out at 8 pm. Younger son took her back to Ohio because all their clothes and things were there. I am guessing she will drive back to Detroit tomorrow, although who knows if hospital will even let her visit. Younger son asked what to expect, and I will able to fill him in a bit because I once spent 4 days in hospital getting left knee replaced, got sent home with an diagnosis for my abdominal pain as constipation, then readmitted within 12 hours for acute pancreatitis and spent next 13 days there. Total 17 days in hospital, including Christmas Day, in 2006--yuck. They were all planning to fly to DC on Thursday, but I am guessing that is off. Just wish they had been able to get him to Cleveland Clinic instead of having him stuck in Detroit!

I will get to Cleveland about 6 pm tomorrow, and luckily had scheduled a rental car. Not sure what is happening, but at least no one has to worry about picking me up from airport!
