Monday December 20

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Monday December 20

Morning All, 37° and sunny. No wind so is a nice day. Picked up Walmart and I did get the turkey breast. I chose 9-10 o clock which was good, it was getting busy as I was leaving. Stopped at bank and then Walgreens for gift cards. I read that it’s possible for someone to wipe out you bank account through a gift card. Don’t understand how but got cash at the bank to buy cards. Lol. Very few people in Walgreens were wearing masks. A new to me scam was a phone call that said I was a winner for paying my utilities bills on time so call this number. I am getting so paranoid it is no problem for me to just stay home and feel safe. Stay safe

I think it's Monday, or, hope I haven't missed a day! I'll do some research as I have not heard of gift cards accessing your own account. It's chilly but slightly brighter at moment outside in foggy northern California . I'm going to read a few things, then head to Curves. Sean will be here in hour or so to continue floor. I need to get gifts delivered to neighbors and sons gifts wrapped. Have a good day everyone.

Velda, I think I played in church yesterday, otherwise I lost a day, too! Lol! We have a chuck roast on Steve's Big Green Egg and we've invited Brenda to join us for dinner. The meat has been on since a little after 7:30 and we're cooking it low and slow. We have a cold front moving through and only supposed to get into the low 70's today, but I don't think that will happen. Happy you folks out west are getting some much needed rain. We attended an open house yesterday and someone brought some cookies called Hot Buttered Rum cookies that were so good. I may post that recipe later in the recipe forum as they're easy to make and oh, so good!

I had to do a double take, also. I changed your header, Shirl.

I made potato soup yesterday and am about to heat some for lunch. Yum. I have both a small Sam's Club order and small Walmart order to pick up tomorrow. I didn't realize Sam's Club doesn't have a minimum. That made my day because I didn't want to go in for 2 items (I know others would basically appear in my cart). And that's my exciting news.

Afternoon all. Cloudy, breezy, 33 here. Time to check into the daily “Foodie discussion”. Today seems to be Butter rum cookies

Shirl,I was out an about this morning too. Took a plate full of cookies up to my vets office along with a Christmas card. They like all the others have been having a rough year. Just wanted to let them know that I along with Molly and Piper appreciate them. But by same token, I don’t like the having to wait in the parking lot while the vet sees my dog. It’s been almost two years since I have talked face to face with a vet. BuI I know they need to keep safe to be there for our pets.

Also made a quick run to store as forgot milk and eggs yesterday, then to Lowe’s and Home Depot to look for shade of orange paint I wanted for my next project, which is cleaning and repainting our subdivision name sign.

Shirl, I get a crazy scam call that’s bugging me too. They are calling with this, Hello, I’m calling with AT&T/Direct TV. Your account now qualifies for a 50% discount. Kindly call us at thus and such number between this and that, Pacific Time message. Yeah right. I don’t even have AT&T or Direct TV. So they can keep playing with my answering machine. Eventually they’ll get bored and go someplace else. The scammers are trying to catch some holiday overwhelmed, not paying attention or looking to save money persons.

So now I am going to take my two pets for their daily walk :-) Molly is beginning to give me the moans, which will be followed by the barks if I don’t get moving. She has me trained very well.

Good afternoon...now. I was up and at em early. Got to the grocery store at 7:15 not many there. I got everything on my list and a lot more LOL I wont have to leave the house to shop now for a few weeks. I picked up a turkey hindquarter to use this next year. I still have 2 others so this makes 3. I am not a huge turkey fan but I enjoy it once in a while and not several days worth. So this will be perfect and the leftovers I can share with Jerry.

Sue I get that same call and not sure if it is really Directv or not as I used to have it a few years ago. But since I cut the cord and just stream now I just delete it. AT&T owns Directv now that is why you see the AT&T/Directv Doesnt do much good to block it as they have umpteen numbers to use but I block and delete.

Irmi dinner sounds great. I am doing fish, green beans and some french fries for either dinner tonight or tomorrow. Chewy delivered my 14lbs of dog food today. Been having trouble getting the 2 1/2 lb bags so I just ordered the large bag and will drag out my foodsaver and package it up in smaller packs and it still stays fresh. I usually get it at Petsmart or Petco but they said it was unavailable so ordered from Chewy.

We have off and on rain today but not too cold 51 and no breeze BUT our temps are dropping for the weekend. Will have to see what that brings.

Thanks Beth, don’t know what I was thinking. I remember checking for the date. Glad I remembered today was the Walmart order. Lol Waited for Karen to tell me what to have for dinner but already mixed up Sheila’s tuna for a sandwich. Porch friend dropped off her homemade candy and received a tin of Pecan Yummies from a friend so I’m good. Martha, daughter checked Sam’s didn’t have coconut cake. Now I won't feel so bad eating my ugly one.

My excitement for today was having trouble getting to sleep last night, and then at about 5:30 am, opening my eyes and seeing a small frog climbing up the wall next to my bed!!! I keep the TV on most nights, so could see him/her in the dim light. Let me tell you that there is nothing that wakes you up faster than having a critter on your wall about a foot from your face!! I jumped up, got a paper towel, carefully wrapped him up, and tossed the whole thing out of the motorhome door! However, that ended whatever sleep I had, so I just took a couple hour nap. I accidentally left the passenger’s side window open for a couple of hours two nights ago, and I suspect he came in along with the dozens of mosquitos I had to track down and zap that evening! Florida certainly does have its critters! Just finished a two-hour nap.

I went out and picked up several at-home COVID tests, just in case. I am flying to Ohio on the 28th and staying until the 4th. My kids from California will be there on the 28-30, but I need to get the bone graft done on my tooth on the 3rd. I am tempted to skip the whole thing but I am fully vaccinated and boosted. Also, if I don't get the bone graft done soon, I will not be able to get the post inserted in April and the tooth implanted in late June. Otherwise, I will have to fly in from the West Coast next fall. But the news is really scary about this new Omicron. All my kids and grandkids are fully vaccinated, except for youngest has not had booster since she just got last vaccine in late September. We are all going to do at least home tests before coming and maybe while we are there.

It rained all morning and the sun didn't come out until about 4:00. A messy, cold day.

Judy, I had some excitement with a green frog yesterday. One jumped on my leg when I was in the bathroom. Good thing I have a strong heart. That was the third one I have caught recently. I don't know how they are getting in.

Hot Buttered Rum cookies sound good. Like I need more cookies. lol My pears came Saturday and I'm enjoying them.

I get the calls about my Direct account too. I don't know what they could do if they get your account number. I know I'm not going to get a discount and they are not getting any personal information. I just block the calls and they use a different number.

I never could find any turkey thighs this year and I tried every grocery chain. I still haven't decided what to cook for Christmas. My son called today whining because his girlfriend wants him to go to her mother's with her.

I either need to order some dog food or go to Petsmart in Lafayette. I'll see what the weather is tomorrow.

I looked up the Direct TV scam and this is how it works. They want you to prepay 7 months of your billing with an eBay gift card. Money you would never see again.

My first day back went good. Several very nice customers and good tips.

After work I did some shopping in WM. Got a few more Christmas gifts.

I have tomorrow off so will go play golf in the morning and then need to bring my car to my mechanic. I was told that my tail light and turn signal in back don't work. My car is also starting funny so I need to get those things looked at and fixed.

There is a lady who sits inside the entrance to WM right in front of our shop. I watched her for hours as she reminded people coming in that they needed to have a mask on. Many of them just kept walking into the store. Only a few put on a mask or turned around to go back to their car to get one. I felt bad for her. She sure tried hard but I am sure she was afraid to push it. You just don't want to piss people off since you don't know what they might do.

I finally got my live trap today! Yay! Just gotta find out when the next TNR clinic is so I can get it set up the night before.

How much are the home Covid tests?
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

it is in deed Monday and garbage is out .... I actually accomplished all that I sent out to do today not much of an accomplishment as there wasn't much on that list...
going to get groceries tomorrow and niece and nephew's are coming over tomorrow night for "the soup" haven't made it yet put that is what we are having tomorrow night along with salad ought to come up with a desert but not sure what it will be... nephew isn't into chocolate so would really need to figure out something else... who can not be into chocolate perhaps we can eat some of the ice cream :o clean out some of the freezer...
dd's quitting her job is on hold they told her they really want her to stay what would it take to make you stay she countered with what would you offer to make me stay.... well everyone that is anyone is on a two week vaca so they will get back with her after her two week vaca so sounds like her quitting was short lived...maybe
sounds like mom's pt will be over this week hopefully all of the paper work will be finished so she won't have to return to brother's house... to finish it up ... like I told the nephew and niece I've really appreciated the reprieve so guess it's my turn again... I still have a BA with my other brother though... we were at the funeral mom's on water pills so is on the go a lot... and who had to walk her to the restroom?? couldn't the daughter in law have at least offered??? want to get some motion lights for inside the house had we had them we wouldn't have had the issues over the past couple of months...
guess the renter of the meth house next door got a stiff sentence not sure what it was but niece told me and they both seem to be in the know of what all is going on... I expressed not understanding how there was lights even Christmas lights were up... guess it was simply the officer's looking for stuff then it will go into clean up all the dry walls have to be removed as well as carpet ect then they will have to test the boards to see whatever the owner is a very nice couple live else where and the guy was doing a lease to own thing so they haven't been here to the house in a very long time... the house and property is worth a cool million and it's not that great of a house..... they may have a better view of the grand  than we do...
will be starting the next to last section of the afghan I'm working on need to look for yarn in blue, pink, orange and yellow pastel colors shouldn't be to hard except for the orange it might be a trick
well I've rambled on long enough you all have a great night
