Lightly Snowing Saturday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

I'd be afraid to take anything off that tree because it might fall down! And, I think some people have just too much time on their hands, like the lady I used to know decades ago who was known for using q-tips to clean that little ledge on the baseboard trim in her house!!

Had to run out again today to ship the teddy bear I got my aunt. I also bought her several little tubes of handcream, but it is really hard to buy for people in dementia care. Her birthday is Dec 31, so I also got her a nightgown, but have not shipped it yet. If I send it too soon, she will not know it is for her birthday.

Traffic has been bad around here, with tourists and the holiday coming up, so I found a small strip mall with a new Publix in it nearby. Not a big Publix, but nice nonetheless, especially since it is nearby and not in overly busy Sarasota proper. I killed a lot of mosquitos last night, more just before I went to bed and one or two in the middle of the night. I just kept walking around with my good flashlight and my bug zapping wand. They are a lot dumber than flies, luckily. However, I found a few more very small bites this morning and washed them off, as the articles say to do, then put cortisone cream on them and took some more Benadryl pills. I am hoping that dosing my system early with anti-histamine will keep my reactions in check.

I want to take a tram tour and boat ride on the state park lake, and also go to Marie Selby botanical gardens, but will wait until this coming week when it will be cooler and I can more comfortably wear long sleeves and long pants. 86 here today.

How do you prevent the parchment paper from lifting in the air fryer and scrunching the cookie dough into a big lump. They tasted ok but looked strange. Lol

Oh wow. That is spectacular. My guess is, there is a styrofoam cone under there. Yes, Shirl, would be interesting on how to keep it cold. Course if you live where I do, all I would have to do would be just wrap it up and set it in my garage for a while  Perfect refrigerator. I set my cookie sheets outside my windowwall so they will cool down quicker, then a quick washing, fill with pressed cookies and keep the production line going.

WooHoo! I "WON" the Ebay bid on the cookie press! So excited!!

Can't wait until it gets here!

LOOK! In a green box, JUST LIKE I REMEMBERED!! Stainless steel, JUST LIKE I REMEMBERED!!

I haven't set eyes on this thing (well, at least one that was just like this one) in AT LEAST 40 YEARS!!!

And. . . here she is (these are the photos from the Ebay listing - I don't have it yet): :D :D :D

Sue, thank you so VERY much for starting this thread. This is like a dream come true, a flash back to my childhood, a find of a cherished item so very long gone but never, ever, forgotten!

Sue, this would have never happened without you. I am truly moved beyond words.

And. . . maybe best of all. . . is the long-remembered, and longed and wished for (and fool-proof!!) RECIPE "Basic Recipe for Cookies", which was always on the outside of the box (so was NEVER written down) - when I lost the cookie press, I lost the recipe - FOREVER, or so I thought.

But, now, again, here it is!!! OMG!! FINALLY AND AT LAST!!! :D :D :D

I know the recipe is a bit blurred in the photos - when the item comes in the mail I will write it out for everyone to see and to use. OH, THE SWEET SWEET MEMORIES OF SO VERY LONG AGO!!!

What a day!!! What a day!!! :D :D :D :D :D

Thank you, Sue, and ALL!! of you! Each and every one of you keep me going with your daily correspondence in these so very troubled times. I can't thank all of you enough.

WELL, I see we have some bakers amongst us. Unfortunately I didnt get that gene either. I like to cook but baking doesn't excite me. I make a few things but if anyone is expecting a box of homemade cookies from me they will be sorely disappointed LOL I am not much of a sweet eater anyway. Occasionally I get a craving for something but usually just want it once or twice at the most so give it away. I didnt bake anything today but maybe tomorrow.

I give Emma Heartguard Plus and they are chews, so no pill pushing here LOL She has been on Heartguard since 10 weeks old and she likes the chews. Martha how do you keep all those pills straight LOL I am sure I would be mixing them up. I cannot believe Christmas is this weekend. Where did 2021 go?? This is kind of scary how fast the time is flying by. I know I am on the downhill side of that mountain but I really dont want to pick up speed like this. I know I have more behind me than ahead of me, but I am okay with that.

Cookies look fantastic, you can email me 3 or 4 please. Anne so happy you won the bid, how exciting.

Shirl when I make cookies I dont use the parchment paper. For that obvious reason you found out LOL The air gets under it and blows it up.

I enjoy baking which is a good thing I assigned myself pies for Christmas dinner...I got so much input that I just went a head and planned the menu my eldest did talk to me a bit my middle nada my 3rd put input in about pie flavor's so if they don't like it oh well!!! I do need to check with mom on what is her favorite cut of ham besides the bone in...
about ready for the cup of hot chocolate it's just so cold... I don't think it got out of the twenty's again and looking ahead it's going to be in sigle digits not what I want... at all
thinking back I think mom had a cookie press but remember it having a international sound what country I don't know possibly Swedish??? and I don't know why but it wasn't a big thing for us... now mom's had dipped chocolates!!!! been years since I've done it myself...but so good... your butter cookies are they like sugar cookies?? Anne that is just great that you was able to get the winning bid... and Sue they do look great
didn't do what I should have done..... but that is ok nothing earth shattering at all...
I too had Shadow on the chewable's one year the clinic changed the brand he hated the new brand when it came to getting a new batch (I usually got the 6 month supply I think) when I went to get I said I sure hope it's not the same brand would much rather have the Heartguard... they said we went back to them... so glad
not sure yet what day mom will be coming back and if she will have to go back for more home health... guess I will find out some day... but betting it won't be till Weds or Thurs.

I started watching the golf tournament after I posted here earlier. It was great to watch Tiger Woods playing with his son! They were dressed alike. The tournament had lots of the older famous golfers playing with their sons or grandsons. Also the top female golfer of 2021 was playing with her dad (she is very young!). I love watching the tournaments that are more for fun than for serious competition.

I fell asleep on the couch as soon as that was over, so I didn't get much else done. I fell asleep again tonight watching TV so am already in bed. Tomorrow morning I am meeting Linda at a nature preserve in the desert about half way between where she is and I am, for a short hike. We both have other things to do tomorrow afternoon so will make it a short day.

So Anne, how excited are you REALLY?  Glad you got the cookie press! I would like to see the recipe too. I am sure that it is the same one my mom used.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

I'm laughing at the weather. The high tomorrow will be 30 degrees lower than today's 85. So when I wake up in the low 50's (for the last several days the lows didn't get below 70. I won't miss that at all.) I can expect it to stay there all day. So tomorrow I'll make the potato soup. And I'll eat it for a few days while the temps slowly go back up and then by Thursday the 80's should be back.

Now my problem is that I've been staying up later every night and sleeping later every morning. But that's always been me. I was so proud of myself for not quickly falling back into this. Oh well.

Anne, I'm as excited as can be that you won that auction!

Heh. Sorry about all of that.  It was quite an amazing day.

I think maybe looking at the coming two-year anniversary of the pandemic is finally getting to me. Geez. Two years. . . who would have thought?

Or maybe I just like to "indulge".

Anyway. . . Simple pleasures for simple minds. :D
