Wednesday December 15

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Wednesday December 15

Postby Shirlv » Wed Dec 15, 2021 9:28 am

Morning All, another sunny cool day. No special plans for the day. Wrapping all the small items for great grands stocking is on the list. Funny how my children loved tearing tissue paper off little stocking stuffers after you strained your brain to find the perfect large gifts. Want to visit the local deli to get ideas for what I will buy for the Charcuterie board. The deli no long prepares the boards but hoping for good suggestions. Be safe

Good morning. Woke up to no internet. So couldnt turn my lights on with Alexa....tragic LOL Couldnt find an outage online (using my hotspot) so called and got a very helpful lady. They just had an update last night so my Modem wasnt talking to my Router. She checked and the modem was all good so just had to unplug, leave off for a couple minutes then plug back in and after a few minutes I was back online. Whew. I wanted to watch the news road report. Good news today, no issues with the roads so I am good to go to Medford. I still wont leave until later in the morning.

Wednesday from Orlando

Postby BirdbyBird » Wed Dec 15, 2021 9:52 am

Made it to Orlando yesterday about 5 in time to stop at the Convention Center and set up our grooming equipment. Then it was on to check in at the Red Roof. We only have four dogs with us and three of them went back into the van for their night kennels. Sleeping g was much more restful for a Cindy and I. I will definitely get over 5 miles in before the day is over. I am already over a mile just settling in this morning. Everybody have a fine day out there. PS: I enjoyed my sandals yesterday evening.

Karen, safe travels. Tina, glad you arrived safely. Just wanted to add I do keep everyone in my thoughts but between reading posts and posting replies I forget what I read.

Another do nothing day. Frosty, the great white hunter must be taking the day off, he is still in bed. He usually wants out first thing in the morning and heads across the road to the pasture and woods. It's 80 and looks windy. The weather channel is showing the flash flooding in California.

Tina, enjoy the warmer weather. Good luck with the shows and don't walk too much. I know when I'm getting ready for an RV trip I can do 12,000 steps. It's no wonder that I have leg cramps when I camp.

Shirl, the local grocery store has a big refrigerated case with cheese and meats that would be good for the Charcuterie board but boy is it expensive. Sometimes I will try one of their cheeses to see if I like it. I know for sure I don't like goat cheese. Sam's has a bag of assorted, individually wrapped cheese that I like but every time I pass Sam's the parking lot is full. I just don't feel like fighting it for a bag of cheese. I know cheese wouldn't be the only thing I would pick up.

I need to vacuum because I'm tire of walking in cat litter. My litter boxes are large plastic totes with a hole cut in the end but they can still manage to scatter litter all over.

Karen, safe travels and no snow in the passes.

A day late and a dollar short. Just found out there is an Italian market in Easton that caters the perfect charcuterie tray. I already placed an order with the local deli with the help of a very pleasant woman. I have never made a board so will be a good experience but I will keep the market in mind. Catering was expensive but much easier. Lol

Shirl, do you look at Pinterest? Tons of ideas for Charcuterie boards as I have spent time looking! :D
Rain is off a bit yet today. Strange, I watch and follow our Sacramento area northern California news and have seen oohing notable about flash flooding. Makes me wonder about Weather a channel ! We got a bit over 3 inches rain during last storm, very welcome, but not a drought breaker, nor a flood maker!. I thnk we are between 10 and 12 inches total since last spring of rainfall.
I am finishing my electrolyte drink before heading to Curves. I'm at opposite end of the house from where Sean has power tools going, removing damaged underlayment , scraping floor where needed and replacing , before pouring leveling compound. Once that dries, floor install begins. Needless to say, I'm anxious for that stage!
Karen, hope you slip between storms to Medford and back as more wet and white stuff is predicted coming our way! Yesterday as the Sunday storm crossed the Sierras, headed east, it brought snow down to around 2500 ft, so about 2200 ft above my elevation. Welcome and no catastrophic reports of mud slides etc reported so far.
I have most of my Christmas shopping done. My 2 grands will begin receiving Amazon packages tomorrow. Grandson expressed interest in rock polishing and Grandaughter in art/drawing. So he got a rock tumbler and supplies and she got an assortment of markers, pencils, paper, blank cards, etc. My son, their Dad, will get cash towards his new winter service (he's a Deputy) boots or whatever he wants to spend it on. He says boots are on 4-6 month back order!!!
I gotta run, but will stop by later. Have a good afternoon all.

Lunch break... Most of the flooding and mud flows that I saw on the news were around Santa Barbara and fire areas north and east of LA.

One of our new guys quit today. He was pissed about the speech yesterday. He is actually a very quiet guy who just sits with his ear buds in and works diligently. He does excellent work and is fast. So they are losing a great employee. It really was only one gal here who was loud and spending a lot of time on her phone all day, so they should have just talked to her privately instead of coming down on all of us.

I only have two days left after today to deal with it all. Funny how things can go from great to bad so quickly.

The snow on the mountains is so pretty today! Got another storm in the works for next week I guess. Every little bit helps. Just could do without the wind.

Have a good day!

Barbie, it really does seem like it was good timing to have the job offer back with Great Clips when you did. This place keeps getting crazier.

Ty and I got told he isn't allowed to pee on trees inside the park today. I normally walk him outside the park, but if course, the time we are inside he decides to pee where the manager doesn't want him to. Funny though, nothing in the dog rules mentions that. Not really a problem, just should be in the rules if we'll be chased down for it. Yes, I'm being grumpy. I like it here including this person but believe you can't follow rules you don't know exist.

Today's tasks were to take back a shirt I bought and get a white one to go with some mint green shorts I have. Tried a dozen different colors of green and none matched, so found a nice white one. Also, picked up some groceries--getting harder and harder to decide what I want to eat. I did get some beets and a dozen medium eggs to pickle with them. Also a package of hot dogs and buns, just for something different. Believe it or not, it took me 2 hours to put everything away, although that included time for hard boiling the eggs and making my dinner. So now the floor of the motorhome is empty of all the grocery bags, and I managed to fit it all inside the refrigerator and freezer. Both have been really full, so got only the minimum so it would all fit in! They had some really nice-looking Christmas cake rolls, but no room for anything like that!! Besides I have half a cheesecake in the freezer that needs eating.

Have been wearing long shirt and long pants outdoors, except yesterday for a quick trip to the dumpster, but somehow got four new mosquito bites! Also ended up with bruises on my left arm and one on my head from my hooking up RV in the dark on Monday night! Just kept banging into stuff, including hitting my head on my mirror.

Had a good, fun text chat with my friend at the college who took over my online classes. College is private, but non-profit, and is having financial problems, so they cut several more faculty and the entire marketing department! It seems students are not wanting to take classes in person, though they do all want online only. So my friend is happy to have taken over my online classes because they always fill before classroom versions. She relayed some of the semester's funny spelling errors--for example "perversely" instead of "previously." And on a final evaluation of the instructor, another said she should give everyone more "leave way on the grammar jazz." I told her I did not miss grading papers at all!!

Beth, Sugar and I would have a problem at that park. I don't think I could keep her from peeing until we got out of the park and I can't carry her. Some people like to come up with stupid rules.

Barbie, as others have said you are getting out of that place just in time. If they had any sense they would realize what a good employee you are. They might not be in business much longer.

I ordered my step daughter some cookies and pears last night and had to order some for me. That's the way I Christmas shop, one for them and one for me. :D I actually got two Christmas cards mailed today. I have 4 boxes of cards and I never remember what card I mailed last year. Hope they can't remember either.

I complained about having to go the bathroom often when I went to the doctor. I don't have any burning but they called today and I have a urinary tract infection. He called in a prescription for antibiotics. Guess it's a good thing I decided to have a checkup. My mammogram is on the 23rd. Another Christmas present for me.

Luckily I'm near the exit and it's nicer walking out there. But you'd be okay. We can walk in the park and he can pee in our site, but otherwise I have to keep him in the road (and now away from trees). I never let him in other people's sites except a couple people who invite him in. But it's still stupid lol

We had some nice rain today. My AC will be coming on tonight if I want to sleep. In a few days nights will be cooling off more again. I laugh that I can go most of the day with only the AC a few times to keep the humidity down inside but at night I need it because I just don't sleep well warm. How the heck did I sleep in the hot humid summers I grew up with and we didn't have AC?

Someone I grew up with, didn't know well, but did know most of our childhood, contacted me today because she found something from the 1964 in things from her father's papers and it had something my dad wrote on the front and then something about her father on the back. Very cool. She photographed both pages and sent it to me. I love that technology has brought us back in contact with people we never probably would have been again and things like this can happen. I emailed it to my sister who got a big kick out of it, too.

After lunch, things got crazy like usual with everyone talking and laughing and having fun! I got pulled into it too. I learned that you don't tell a room full of Hispanics that you love Taco Bell! They will never let me live that down! It actually got really funny! We all still got a lot done but had fun in the meantime. If the owner was watching the cameras, she was probably fuming! I don't care since I am leaving anyways.

When I got home, my neighbor lady was trying to get bags of groceries out of her car. She is handicapped so I ran over to help her bring the bags up to her door. As I was doing that, I saw a couple more of my ornaments that were in a corner on her patio behind some potted plants! :o

Did a couple haircuts for a newly retired couple and then went to WM to pick up another Christmas gift. As I was leaving there, I just about hit a couple kids who ran in front of my car while I was turning left at a dark intersection. I didn't see them until my headlights caught them. I hit my brakes and stopped within inches of them! Scared the crap out of me!

Apparently, Walmart didn't get the memo about the new statewide mask mandate that started today, since there were no signs on their doors about having to wear masks. There were a lot of people not wearing them, including quite a few of their employees. I ordered some new masks on Amazon that match the colors of several of my pants I will be wearing at Great Clips.

Martha, we were talking today about the crappy quality of what we are sending out. The joints (blunts) we were sending out yesterday are about $60 each and are so not worth it.

I found out today that the Greek woman I bought this house from, passed away in August from Covid. Very sad.
:(

Gotta wrap a couple gifts yet tonight and then off to bed.
