I'm Baaaaaack...

,

I've missed reading and posting here! Looks like it'll be a forever chore to play catch-up!!

We had our first round of visitors here at The Blue Marlin (which was good), then a day and a half to get ready for our Christmas present from the kids - a 3 night stay (starting this past Thursday) at some great cabins in the Shawnee National Forest (which was good), and now a bout with something really icky creeping all over my torso (which is not so good) - I'm going to guess either shingles or hives. We're just home this morning and I'm taking Benadryl like it's candy. It helps some, but mostly puts me to sleep, which is where I'm headed as soon as I post this! It ruined the trip with the kids. Big, fat BUMMER!!!!!!! Oh, well - c'est la vie...

I am very sad to hear about Echo! Now, THAT's a bummer. I hope all turns out perfectly for her. It's good Kelly is there with her! Echo, get well and strong soon! Lots here sending prayers your way!

Missed reading you all...

Glad you got to get out into the "wilds" for a few days. I had shingles 1/1/2 years ago and it tends to follow the nerves, gets pussy and can be very painful (mine wasn't, luckily). If it is, benadryl won't help, you would need to get the antibiotic used for shingles and within a short length of time, so if you think it might be that, you need to get it diagnosed. It never occurred to me that I had it, but my girlfriend recognized it by the end of the week. Since then I've had the immunization shot.
I agree that if you miss more that a few days, it takes awhile to catch up-we sure are a chatty bunch. carold

Hey Mitch, glad you're baaaaaack! I was wondering what happened to ya! At least you were out trying to have a good time, sorry it didn't go better. Now I'm still wondering about BluePineCones, where's she at?

Well, it now appears that 4 of the kids/spouses have some sort of rash - differing opinions of poison ivy, unknown, chiggers, bedbugs, shingles! When our daughter called me with the "Bedbug Theory", I freaked. My bed linens, mattress pads, pillow cases and covers are all being washed in really hot water. I vacuumed our mattress and did a close up inspection of the mattress seams. YUCK.

Now, don't scroll down if you don't want to see what my back looks like...someone (Sparkle?) will scream, "MY EYES, MY EYES!" It's really gross, and unbelievably FAT! Jeez, we women are hard on ourselves, aren't we? The front and both sides are equally disgusting...

Sorry, but I'm LMAO...maybe a better turn of a phrase would have been 'gets filled with pus, or 'become pus filled' '????? LOLOL...there are many more on the tip of my tongue, but I'm going to just keep my mouth shut and say good-night! :D Maybe it's the benadryl/cortisone/wine cocktail, coupled with 2 nights of very little sleep (only scratching...)????

PS: Could THAT be the proper spelling, or is there another way - maybe one 'S" ? I just did a search and that's really not a word you want to Google...

I don't think it's shingles - specially if so many have it. I also don't believe it's bedbugs - as those are usually smaller and concentrated in certain areas, where yours seem to be widespread. But with it as bad as you've got it, I think you need to see a dr tomorrow and make sure. I'm certainly not a dr and could be wrong with both my "I don't thinks". Ouch, I itched just looking at your back.

Now, I'm glad you're back, but want you back without itching!

Doesn't look like shingles to me either, they itch, then hurt so bad you would be on heavy duty pain pills or morphine with that many places. I don't think bedbugs makes that bad of places, you could Google that, I'm guessing chiggers rather than poison ivy as they look more like bites. I hope you plan to see your doctor tomorrow. So sorry I know you must be miserable!

Get to the Doctor! It doesn't look like shingles to me either...I've had them and they seem to be more concentrated and much smaller bumps..but a lot of them concentrated in one area not as wide spread as you have. Dang that looks like it would make you miserable. Whatever it is...sure hope it is something that you can get over quickly.
My mind works like lightning...one brilliant flash and it's gone.

Not shingles, for sure----bites of some sort. I notice they are where your clothes/bathing suit was? Did you go swimming at those cabins? Maybe something in the water that got under your clothes and bit? We have a critter in some of our lakes and rivers up here that burrows into the skin and stings, but can be removed with a brisk toweling off after coming out of the water. I think they come from fowl wildlife in the waters....can't remember the history and don't have time to try to find info now.

But, no matter what, you all need to get to a doc and get some topical stuff to put on them to calm them down and keep them from getting infected. Also to avoid ODing on Benedril!

Keep in touch and let us know what the final diagnosis is! Makes me itch just to look at it! (And why would you all get poison oak or ivy under your clothes? That doesn't compute, either!)

Mitch glad it wasn't just me, I read that 3 times before I realized what was being said. Hope you get that under control soon. I got out in the sun and had a reaction because of a medication I am taking, it hurt and itched too. But went to dermatologist and she said that was what it was the meds reacting because of the sun. Won't rush back out in the sun again.

Yep, have to agree that they look like some kind of "bug-bites".....skeeters, fleas, and spiders leave marks like that.....and a trip to the Dr. today would be the thing to do.... ;) Hope you get some relief soon, Mitch.....
