Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Monday December 13

Morning All, sunny and a cold 36°this morning. I still have a pot of herbs on the balcony so covered them last night. I moved the pot and the fairy lights branches came on so a problem solved. Searched for a solution to the Amazon Prime video problem without success. In frustration texted #1 gd and her husband asking for advice. They are both pretty tech savvy so we chatted back and forth. Still frustrated I searched the exact problem using exact details, IPad and entire error message. An answer popped up. I am forever amazed, who writes all this stuff. I wonder if I search my many ailments a solution will come to make me feel 70 again. Lol Turning off “background apps” in settings seem to solve the problem, I think. Anyhow, watched prime and had a nice beef stew dinner so yesterday was a good day. Be safe

And it’s Monday again!

Postby Colliemom » Mon Dec 13, 2021 8:26 am

Good Morning on this Monday, December 13th. Clear sky as the sun starts to rise. Beautiful day yesterday, but windy. We are having a bit of mild weather most of this week, so snow is on the melt. I spent all afternoon outside yesterday between doing a quick run over my drive with my small snowblower, to clear off the couple inches of wet snow we had during the night. Sun has now completely cleared it down to bare blacktop. Then I put my gnomes back in the garage ladder as I had taken them off when I changed from summer to fall decorations. Have them and the ladder decorated for Christmas and Winter. Will get a picture later this morning. I did take some pictures of our sub entrance area last night with the lights on. Looks very festive. Will post them in General Talk

Watching the continued coverage of the deadly tornadoes on Weather Channel. Amazon Warehouse employees are accounted for and 6 were killed. Amazon is making sure it’s employees are taken care of and will decide what to do about the Warehouse. Preliminary investigations are showing that may have been an EF3 tornado. Estimates are that the one tornado was on the ground for 225 miles, making it the longest one in U.S. history. They are also the most devastibg ones in Kentucky history.

BJ, Pippa is so cute. I’m sure she will start eating pretty soon. She’s had a lot of trauma n the past few days, being taken from her litter mates, flown on a plane and then landed into a strange house with strange people and dogs. Piper threw up on our way home when I got her too, but she bonded with Molly pretty quick and I didn’t have any eating issues.

Not sure what we are getting into today. In a way, should go for a ride while the weather is nice. Need to go down to neighbors and put their trash out and might run down and pay my property taxes while I am out as just got the Winter tax bill. Need to get stamps to mail Christmas cards too.

So, gues I will get moving here. Hope you all have a nice day.

Like you I am always a little amazed and then thankful for the ability to get useful answers using the internet for research..... I just have to remember to use it.

Waiting this morning for Cindy to arrive from Columbus with her "Player" and another younger bitch, Dusty. Jane and I will carefully throw our paraphernalia in the van and off on down the road we will all go. Destination: Orlando. All the dogs will show in the All Breed shows on Wednesday and Thursday. Friday, however, is Player's day to see what he can do in the Owner Handler National show. He ended up ranked #2 in the top ten but we do believe #1 dog will be there, also. Player does have the waggiest tail on an English Cocker!

I'm heading to the Smart Salon in Walmart shortly for a haircut. It's way past time but I can only cut my hair myself so many times. So time to chop it all off. Then I'll let it grow till after I get to Utah again (just chopping my bangs as necessary) when I'll probably get a perm to let the season there.

Tina, have a fun trip and I hope the waggiest tail comes out on top.

New to Roku, don't be scared, but I've used questioning the internet a few times for things with Roku. Mainly because it's faster and easier than going into their site. One of my apps I use on Roku seems to get quirky... Not Roku's fault. I learned it needs to be disconnected and reconnected occasionally, by disconnecting Roku. Go figure. But it works every time. Love that other people have had the problem and share their solutions. Amazing how many YouTubes are out there just to show simple steps to solve so many frustrating things.

Sue, I look forward to your post with pictures.

Shirl, you may have tried posting while I was still adding pictures. I usually put one in, submit it and then back out of my post so I can go back to Maintenance/Tech Issues to get the link to post the pictures without losing my post before I finish it. I don’t think I can copy and paste more than one at a time. So doing it the round about way.

But I now have a pic of the garage ladder and my bench.

Sue, if I rode past your house I would smile. An original, cheerful holiday greeting.

Just a quick addition to your note on Roku - once in a great while (Roku is really reliable) your tv screen might freeze, or (as some have said, you might get "the purple screen of death") which means that your tv screen is purple and no amount of jiggling the Roku box, or pushing buttons on the remote will help at all. If the remote seems not to be working, first replace the batteries.

If new batteries don't work, do this:

Totally unplug your Roku from ALL connections - (power, HDMI cable, the works) until you just have a bare Roku box sitting there without anything plugged into it. This causes a forced reset of the Roku box. With everything still disconnected, count - slowly  - to 50, then plug everything back in.

It will then (more than likely - I have never had this method fail) be working again.

Love my Roku!!

Oh my! I totally agree, Shirl.

Sue, this is really lovely. The only thing I don't like about it is . . . that I don't live in snow country, and don't have a garage like yours on which to create such beautiful decorations.

Sue, thanks for posting!

Waiting in a very long Blue Beacon line for a truck wash. It will probably take an hour to get in there, but then it is only ten minutes and they do a good job. RV is covered with salt from facing the ocean for two weeks so it really needs it. Headed to Myakka SP but have to stop at an Amazon hub to pick up two packages before they send them back. Need a few groceries but will probably not have time. These winter days are just too short!!

Also glad to see Northern California is getting some rain. Napa has had two inches so far

Hi ladies!

Beth, I didn't recognize you with your new hair cut and it's very becoming on you! Sue, I love your decorations at your house and at the entrance of your development. Velda, I hope your handyman stopped by.

Steve & I spent yesterday at the friends house that we traveled around the country with and got home this morning. It was a fun trip. It's hard to believe that Christmas is so soon but am looking forward to playing Christmas music in church.

I think Carolb stays in touch with Alice and will ask her how Alice is.

It's been sort of warm in central FL with daytime highs in the low 80's but the mornings are only in the low 60's. So I walk with my friends wearing jeans and a light jacket.

Good afternoon all! My furnace guy just left a few minutes ago. He didn’t make it Friday due to his service call list so we rescheduled for today. In light of all the other news happening it is just a small setback and not worth fretting over. He cleaned out the flue and apparently it was really full of debris so that’s a huge help. Then we turned the system back on and we both ran around the house adjusting radiators. I had turned furnace way up to get it heating fast and now the house is really warm! Both up and downstairs! Now I turned the thermostat down to where I usually have kept it and the true test will come! Plus having these warmer days isn’t a real test either. Not that I’m complaining! We actually had sun all day today! And supposed to be the same tomorrow! Beth, your hair looks great! And Sue, your garage decorations are really cheery! Tina, hope you have a good time at your show and being in FL. Rascal and I are taking a break right now. I think he exhausted himself trying to keep up with all the up and down so he’s beside me napping. And I’m drinking a cup of coffee as I write this. Need to decide what to fix for dinner soon. I have leftover chicken that I can use so just deciding what to do with it! So hope you all have a great evening and I’m happy to hear everyone here are safe from the horrible tornadoes that hit.

Good afternoon. Been kind of busy this morning. Putting a piece of furniture together I ordered...and believe it or not all the holes lined up perfectly, all the screws were there amazing. Oh and the instructions were very easy. Then vacuumed (my never ending task), swept the floor, put out a few more decorations then taking a box to the Donation center, breaking down my cardboard and of course laundry.

We are having a winter storm right now. Snowing on all the passes and hills. Chains required on hwy 199 over to the coast. Rain is steady, I have some waterfront property right now in the back yard. Hmmmmm maybe I will need an ark. I need to head to Medford on Wednesday so hope the weather improves before that as I have 4 BIG passes to go over to get there. I will just watch it closely

I love all the decorations Ms Sue has put up. Heck I put some lights up on my front porch and called it good LOL they look great tho just not like Sue's. Tina have fun at the dog show, I know several people heading there also.
