Friday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Just after noon here on the east coast. I’ve been getting things ready for the furnace guy due to arrive soon. I shut down the furnace so it cools down for him to work. So that’ll be a good part of the afternoon. Temps are in the mid 40’s and tomorrow supposed to get to be 60 but wind and rain so will be another inside day. I need to buy a couple pairs of jeans but just couldn’t get up the nerve to go shopping yesterday so ordered on line. Guess if they don’t fit I’ll have to send them back. Sure don’t like shopping for clothing that way but it is what it is. There are no standardized sizing so it’s a gamble! Staying safe is paramount right now with thee numbers increasing in this area. Not even comfortable with having the furnace guy coming in today but this is important so I have heat all winter! Sue, looks like you are having more snow! Could you turn it off before it comes here? Please?! I’ve enjoyed seeing all the Christmas decorations, I haven’t done any decorating for a long time. Since I go to my kid’s homes I figure I don’t need the hassle anymore. Okay, that’s it from my world today! Hope everyone has a great day. (Just reread this and apologize for my grumpiness!)

Afternoon All, sunny and nice. Sharon, your post is being followed by a lot of grumpy. I have been having technical difficulties with the internet. I HATE the local provider because you spend hours on hold. I tried for hours to contact them online yesterday without success. I went to bed so agitated I’m surprised I slept. On the phone early this morning (Martha your picture helped a little) After holding 30 minutes I got the sweetest woman. Maybe it helped when I said sweetly “ I am 85 and this company is on my last nerve”. I decided I can no longer deal with this crap so will pay what I can. A repairman is coming tomorrow and the woman boosted internet speed and knocked $30 off monthly cost. Forgot to ask for how long but will worry about it tomorrow. Still feeling grumpy left to pickup order at Walmart. Rolled down the car window, cranked up the radio, just me and BB King toolin down the highway. Eating chocolate, bins still scattered around and I will think about them tomorrow too. Oh! After doctor visit I am now wearing compression socks and getting them on is a whole other grump. Lol. Be safe

I need to make a grocery store run before the weekend so will do that his morning. I played around with some music on my echo show yesterday and now when I vacuum I have something upbeat to dance to while I work LOL

Sharon, I seem to have a bad attitude most of the time. There is always something going wrong.

I got Pinky's pill down her and the drops in her ears. One down and 13 to go. Glad I don't have a camping trip planned until next month.

The trash hasn't passed yet so I finally remembered to throw the small heater in the bathroom away. It quit turning and would turn it's self off after only working about a minute. The big bathroom is on the North end of the house and is the coldest room. I have a small heater in the old house that I bought for the camper but never have used. Thank goodness it was up high and didn't get wet from the last flood.

I was going to go to town but supposedly the roofing company is on the way with the material. Hopefully I will have a new roof next week. Then I will have to find someone to replace the ceiling in the kitchen and bathroom. I don't look forward to that.

It is overcast, very humid and still 80 degrees. We have a front coming through tomorrow with a chance of severe storms. It is already very windy.

Good afternoon ladies!

Sharon, I hope by now the furnace guy is there and has the furnace ready for another winter. Shirl, you amaze me with the things you do and still keep your sanity. Karen, nothing like dancing with the vacuum. Lol! Martha, I hope you get the roof done and the ceilings, too, without too many problems. I heard about the severe storms in so many areas and hope you are spared. I always worry about Sarah, as Huntsville has some terrible storms.

We're above 80 degrees today and I'm enjoying the warmer weather. We just got back from the grocery store in the Villages and had other stops in the area, but now we're home. Happy Hour is at 5:00 followed by a concert by 3 for the Road Plus 1. We heard them last winter and it's worth going back for another plus we get to mingle with friends and hopefully make some new ones. Our friend, Brenda, had a bad fall here a couple days ago and has 4 stitches in her lip, a broken nose and two black eyes besides lots of bruises and soreness.

Take care & stay safe.

Irmi,
Please give Brenda our best and warmest thoughts for healing. Darn wish we could all learn to bounce better at our ages but the miracle of healing is still to be appreciated even if we get darn impatient waiting for the aches and pains to subside and the purple bruising to turn to green and slowly even so slowly fade...... Every time I am at the doctors and they read off that lists of questions...including the one "Have you fallen in the last....?" I knock on my wooded head and hope to extent the times I can still say "no". Because it has happened before to most all of us and we know the probability of it happening in our futures.....

Oh, Irmi, give Brenda my love and healing thoughts.

I placed a Walmart order later yesterday and picked up today. A couple things showed low stock, but I got everything. I'm sad to admit that I manage to buy extra even for pickup. Therefore it isn't the saving for me it used to be.

Being in a dry climate for the last several years, my fridge never iced up, etc. Ha, I couldn't figure out why a box in the fridge was wet. Today reorganizing after I got home I discovered the tray to catch moisture was totally full and frozen. It's been years and humidity since I've seen that. I think I'll be checking it weekly or even more often now. I've started running the AC more to keep the humidity level lower inside. I'll just have to suck it up for the electric bills. Tomorrow the temp drops again so I'll probably have windows and door open and the air on if necessary for the humidity.

No need to be sorry about grumpy. I think I am fairly often in my posts. Luckily we all understand and commiserate. I'd rather you post, even when grumpy, than not. So keep the posts coming.

I have a zoom meeting coming up on the next hour for the board of directors at my Benson property. I rarely stay for the whole thing, but keep telling myself I should. It would help off my hearing was better. After the 2nd or 3rd time I'm confused because I can't understand something, I log off. Here's hoping this one is better.

Irmi, please tell Brenda I am thinking of her!

Martha, before I forget, yes, you can get replacement bulbs for the ceramic tree. Amazon has them or probably a do-it-yourself ceramic store. I have the one my mother made - 1962 I think. Both my girls want it, but I think the older one figured out her attitude wasn't gonna get it so she made her own (posted on FB)!

Tina, you addressed the FB issue so well! I always wish I was as articulate as you are! So many times you put my thoughts into words. I've done a lot of 'hiding' of things I don't want to see.

Sheila, I used to see your previous night posts the next morning, but I look for them at night since your world is a bit topsy turvy. Keeping good thoughts for you and your mom.

Shirl, I wore compression knee highs on the European flights - didn't think I'd get them on the first time! And I have groceries to put away, too, but I need to go to Safeway first.

Monica picked up Wishing Tree tags at school. It's middle school so they all want gift cards. We met at WalMart yesterday evening for bags and candy for the gifts plus baking supplies. She wants us to bake Sunday since football is on early. I used to do a lot of baking for social, work and family, and she eventually started baking. I don't need it, but will be fun to have some favorites. The girls used to send me Christmas boxes with cookies, but with rising costs of postage and my enlarging hips, I asked them to stop.

Still haven't finished my tree! Went to the garage and found more ornaments - wish I had counted as I hung them.

Oh, and still no snow here except higher up! They keep saying it's coming. Have a good weekend!

Yesterday was another quiet day at work, luckily. I get a lot more work done that way. But by the end of the day, my shoulders and back were really sore! I decided to take today off since I needed more time to get things ready for the craft sale tomorrow.

I went to the bank this morning to get cash for the sale, then to Hobby Lobby for a couple things that they didn't have. Ended up at Walmart and got what I needed. I stopped by the Great Clips shop there to check out their broom. Last time I had worked there for one day, they had a heavy broom and by the end of the day, my shoulder was really sore from using it all day! They have the same heavy broom, so I bought a new lightweight broom to use when I start working there. My manager was there so she had me fill out paperwork. She included on two forms that I am excused from doing any blow drys and styles. I will have Tuesdays off so I can get back on the Ladies Putter's League. Yay!! :D I asked her how much she is getting in tips there now and she said about $100 per day, which is really good for being in Walmart. When I figured how much I would make per month there, compared to the pot shop, I figured in the tips on the low end ($50/day) just in case. Good to know it will be more once I get my clientele built up some.

Now I need to start making the golf stroke counters. I picked up a little Christmas tree at WM and plan to hang some of the counters on it for display at the craft sale.

Yesterday there was a little rain here and there across the valley, not much tho. And some wind, mostly north of here up where Linda is staying. It started off sunny and cool this morning but now the clouds have moved in. No rain expected today tho. Temps went from 15* above normal for the last few weeks, to 10 degrees below normal this week and next week. Barely above 60* for highs. There is snow on the tops of the mountains today tho. Another storm system moving in next Tuesday with quite a bit of rain expected. We'll see...

When I looked out my kitchen window this morning, Gray Kitty was sprawled out sleeping in front of the food dish and Spooky was curled up under the Christmas tree! So cute! I hated to disturbed them but I needed to get going to the bank, etc.

Rolled down the car window, cranked up the radio, just me and BB King toolin down the highway...

Love that image!! :D

Irmi, so sorry to hear about Brenda! Hope she heals quickly! I was lucky with my fall last week, no bleeding or bruising, just scraped the skin on my forehead. I am sure she will be sore for awhile with all that!

Time for lunch and then get busy with my beads! Have a good day!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Barbie, I’m a firm believer in being kind to yourself. If you work in a hospital you work lots of holidays. I never planned to go out New Years Eve. I set a place in the dining room, good dishes, candles, boiled a lobster, baked potato, salad , glass of wine.and BBKing (I like blues). So BB and I go back a long ways. Lol. Open car windows, loud music and a back road where you can step on the gas gets rid of the heebie jeebies. Stepping on the gas no longer an option for me, darn lol. Today I got a thumbs up at a red light. Guess he likes BB too. Or maybe the sight of a crazy ole gray haired woman playing loud music made him smile. It’s the holidays so pamper yourself if there is no one to do it for you. You only go around once.

I didn't have a very productive day........oh well. There is always tomorrow. I just didnt feel the need to go to the grocery store today for so few items. Lots of things just jump in my cart of their own free will LOL So, since I am leaving Wednesday anyway for my eye doc appts I will just shop when I get home. I have plenty to eat here so will just make do.

Now I have been wondering what "special" gift to buy myself for Christmas. I like to buy something I dont "need" just "want'. It is kind of a fun thing to do because last year was all NEEDS. Right now I am looking at Espresso machines as I do love my lattes and mochas. So far tho just looking.

Had to go out and fetch my trash can as it was garbage day and there is definite chill in the air. In fact it was darn right cold. So came in and made myself a Hazelnut mocha. Not the real kind an espresso machine can make but not too bad. Time to find something to watch on Youtube TV. I really like that streaming service and it gets better all the time. They added two more channels today. I am sure they will increase the price soon but it is still cheaper for me than cable. I also added the Amazon Music app to my tv and now I can stream my playlists on the tv. Pretty cool actually. Soon I wont have much of a reason to get out of my recliner LOL The more I play around with the streaming apps the more I find I like them. I just used to have Hulu and Netflix and didnt really understand the streaming channel but I am getting all dialed in now. Probably not a good thing ha ha

So sorry to hear about Brenda taking a nasty fall. I know I have only had one pretty bed fall several years ago. didnt break anything but bent stuff. Had an abrasion to the forehead and 2 black eyes and a very swollen hand for a couple of weeks. But I survived.I am careful so that I do not repeat that experience.

We have a big storm coming in tomorrow and supposed to dump up to 20" in the Cascades, YAY Ski resorts might get to open unless there is too much snow ha ha but we really need the snowpack so I am rooting for lots of it, even tho it means rain and wind down here in the valley. I have not said one bad word about the rain this year. And usually I have lots to say about it LOL we need it so I am focusing on that part.

We have storm and tornado warnings for tonight that are supposed to be really bad as temperature is dropping fast. I really hope we don't have to go to the basement in the middle of the night.

Shirl I just saw some easy on compression socks that zipped up the sides in a Hammacher Schlemmer catalog.

Tomorrow is the big day!! I hope the weather doesn't delay the flights tomorrow! Toby knows we are up to something and does not want me out of his sight.

Sorry to hear about Brenda. I hope she heals fast.
