Last Day of November

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Last Day of November

Postby Irmi » Tue Nov 30, 2021 7:53 am

Good morning ladies! It was a chilly start to the day here in central FL and the temperature dropped to 38 degrees as the sun was coming up and it's almost 40, but the good news is we'll get to 70 this afternoon and into the mid to high 70's the rest of the week. Because of the cold weather, I didn't go for my morning walk but hope to do that later in the day. Brenda will be moving to a campground much closer to us tomorrow, so hopefully will be able to spend more time with her before she leaves. Judy mentioned the Thanksgiving weekend traffic and it was very heavy on I-75 Sunday. We usually hit the heavier traffic on our way home from church but this past Sunday, we got caught in stop and go traffic at 8:30 A.M. almost all the way to church. It was just crazy. We walked into church just in time for me to walk up to the organ at 10:00 to start the service. Needless to say, we took the scenic route home and it was smooth sailing all the way back. Enjoy the last day of the month!

Good Morning IrmI and all who follow. 38 is a bit chilly for FL. We got above freezing for the first time since Thanksgiving Day yesterday. Supposed to be staying in the upper 30’s to low 40’s for next few days than back to normal temps for this time of year which are in the upper 20’s, low 30’s. The dogs and I enjoyed a nice 2 mile walk yesterday. We have about 4-5 inches of snow on the ground now and rain/snow showers expected to be scattered around the next few days. The snowmobile trails open tomorrow and I know the Snowmobilers are anxiously waiting for more snow. The ski resorts have fired up their snow guns and are covering the slopes in hopes of opening, some may maybe this weekend. On average, They can cover the slopes with about a foot of snow in about 48 hours providing conditions are right. 28 degrees, low humidity and light to no winds. It’s an amazing sight to watch when the snow guns are running. Looks like a virtual snowstorm over the resorts. They will keep making snow till Mom Nature takes over and fill in when she doesn’t.

As fo me, I’ve just been busy with some errands, but mostly staying home and puttering with the woodcraft projects. Planning to put the Urethane on the Christmas ones today and they will be finished. Wil put them out when weather permits.

Had an appt. with audiologist yesterday and decided to get another hearing aid for my left ear, rather than get the old one I had been wearing in my right ear for past 5 years repaired. There is a difference in that one and the new one I have now, so decided to match them. Hearing in my left ear is all but gone, but wearing the loaner in that ear for past two weeks, I’ve noticed some sound vibrations occasionally. So will bite the bullet and ordered one. Will pick it up Thursday. They have changed so much in the past 5 years.

Found out that my favorite snowmobile jacket brand has been discontinued, so back to the drawing board. I washed my older one that I have had for a few years and use when I do snowblowing and it literally started falling apart. So into the trash can. I have another one I can use but it’s a Carhart and those are not waterproof, but will do for now. No problem in dry snow, but the wetter snow sticks to it. I might get some Camp Dry or fabric waterproofer and apply it though.

Martha, you can call Humana and renegotiate a new rate. I did that with my Prescription coverage when they were going to raise my rate too. There are different coverage levels for prescription depending on how many you need. I like you, I only have one.
But for now, I ned to get moving here. Want to clean house this morning and then back to craft projects, plus a doggie walk of course. Tomorrow Thry go to their groomer for baths and trims. Have a nice day all.

Morning All, overcast and chilly but suppose to clear. Got up yesterday and felt like I had been hit by a truck, stiff and sore. Guess my body didn’t like trudging through plowed fields to get tree branches. I had to get the branches out of the Foreester so wrapped them in a tarp, tied it, carried across the parking lot, thru two doors, into the elevator, down the hall, in my door, out the balcony door. My homemade Swag was a disaster so went to Michaels for greener to fix. One small sprig of greenery was $14.95. Their wreaths were 40% off so I bought a wreath. I have come to the conclusion that my mind still does not realize what my body is capable of doing. :) Fairy lights are on friends porch so will pick them up today on way to Walmart for pickup. #2 daughter offered to bring bins of my Christmas tree and decorations this coming weekend. Will try to have hair brained idea of balcony tree finished by then  After Walmart pickup will sit in the recliner and act my age. Be safe

Good Morning, I'm attempting to post one more time:) Irmi I'm glad you found a back road home from church Sunday! Sue I wondered what the ski resorts did when the snow didn't cooperate! I would like to see them use the snow guns.

I had my eye appointment for cataract surgery yesterday. We were there for 3 hours and some people waiting didn't wear a mask and during the last hour all but 2 chairs were full so no social distancing. The doctor had his mask untied on the bottom so it sort of hung across his face. I never saw anyone wash their hands or wipe off equipment. There was an open, filled to the top, waste basket in the rest room. I just have to hope they did clean when not observed but from everything else I observed I highly doubt it. My first surgery is scheduled for January 6th and the total cost will be $6,000.00!! for the multi-focus lenses which is up $2,000.00 from 2020. They said because I chose an upgrade I was responsible for the entire amount. They also told me being sedated was an option!! Had they told me that I would not have delayed having it done so long in 2020. Needless to say I was exhausted after the ordeal and I am still freaked today hoping neither of us become ill.

I think this photo might have caused my earlier attempts to post be unsuccessful so will try it again. Pippa is in front with the brown eyebrows.

It got down to 40 last night but it's going to get into the 70's today. It's suppose to be in the 70's and 50's at night all week. That will be good camping weather. I got my present bagged up so need to bring it to the camper. My finger is still swollen a little from whatever stung me. I hope I don't run into it again.

Sue, there have been winters that people have set up the snow machines and made snow for kids to play in. Of course they charge to do that. It's not often that it's cold enough. It snowed a few years ago for our Christmas campout. Someone was up at 4:00 am and started texting everyone. We were all out playing in the snow.

Beth, I love HEB too. I am going to go to one of the Texas RVW campout if they ever have one closer than San Antonio.

Sheila, I saw your wreath on Facebook and it's beautiful. You would get along with the ladies in my camping club. They always have crafts going. I usually manage to stay out of that. I tried painting rocks one time and that was a disaster.

I got Mr P to come just inside the front door and eat some of his special food this morning. It's hard to get him to eat it because he usually runs from me and the other cats want to eat his food. That is one goofy cat. I can sit on the porch steps and sometimes he will come sit in my lap. Most of the time when he sees me he runs.

My kneeler bench came yesterday and it's great. Makes it so much easier to get up.

Really nice to wake up and be able to look at the ocean in front of you. I have a good view on the right, but some shrubbery on the left. Wish it were not there, but my view is good, regardless.

Made some banana nut bread last night and am going to cook two turkey thighs today. Got too much food in refrigerator, but it fits, if tightly. Will be better as soon as I eat a couple of things.

BJ your pup is so darn cute, in fact they all are. I am sure you cant wait to bring her home. You Floridians are chillier than we are LOL Shirl I hear ya on the mind is good but the body just doesnt like to cooperate sometimes. I put up my outdoor Christmas lights last night and I was very pleased with how they look. I have them on a timer so dont need to remember to turn them off and on each night. I have another string of them to hang but it got dark last night and I needed to see what the heck I was doing.

Had company over the weekend so spent a little time catching up on everyone's news. Just had breakfast and now time for a shower and get this show on the road.

Pippa is adorable. Oh I bet you can't wait to have her home!

Well, I should have ordered the kneeler bench. I struggled getting up several times yesterday and today my upper thighs are killing me! I suppose it's a sign I need to exercise more, not buy a kneeler lol. I'm buying the kneeler!

I went to HEB today but didn't have the time to really look at everything I wanted to (because I stopped at Dollar Tree first and bought a pint of ice cream). That said I hope the ice cream is good and Judy, after you mentioning portion sized meals I took a quick look and bought a few. Reasonably priced. The ones I purchased were already cooked, just needing reheating and one I bought was hot to eat. The hot to eat was a brisket sandwich with fries. I cut the sandwich in 1/2 once home and threw 1/2 the fries into my air fryer to crisp them up and that was a delicious lunch. Still have the other half for tomorrow. Yes, I could have eaten it all, but I shouldn't and am trying to be good. They also have several varieties of meals with the meat, veggies, etc that you cook yourself. I didn't grab any of those today. As I said, I was in and out quickly. I hope the $1 ice cream is decent. I'll try some tonight.

BJ, all those issues would scare me. And it's my understanding that part of the surgery is still covered. I'd check with Medicare. They still had chairs covered and not usable at the clinic I went to last week and the one man who came in unmasked was immediately given a mask. I was pleasantly surprised to see very few unmasked people while shopping.

Thanks Beth, we are excited and a bit apprehensive to have her home! it has been a long wait! I will call Medicare! I was really surprised at the unmasked and other conditions as the last time I went it was really clean.

Beth, I'm surprised so many people are wearing masks given Texas's governor's stance on masks and vaccines. A lot of people in South Texas are probably not Texans.

She is a Havanese. I think one came in second at the dog show last weekend. This is a picture of the first one we had. I will keep her in a shorter coat I have enough trouble keeping up with brushing Emma!!

This Congressional area is blue. Probably many of the winter Texans are not. Most of far south Texas is blue. Many/maybe most of the residents are descendents of the original Mexican settlers. So probably more real Texans than the others.
