Last Saturday of November

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Last Saturday of November

Postby Colliemom » Sat Nov 27, 2021 8:45 am

Good Morning. Some were wondering where I am, well, I’m still here. Been spending my waking hours working on the Christmas wood cutouts. Want to get them done, so I can put them out. I finished the last one for our sub entrance last night and now will paint the backs with exterior paint and once that dries, will apply Spar Urethane to protect the fronts. I took down the Thanksgiving ones yesterday. Now I can start doing some for myself to decorate the ladder on the garage and put my winter decorations out next week. Wednesday marks the first day of Meteorological Winter, so time to decorate for that season and throw a bit of Christmas in the mix.

Winter is definitely upon us here. It’s cold and a bit snowy. 24 degrees right now, real feel is 18. About a half inch of snow and more coming this weekend. No biggie, just light accumulations. So you gals out East can expect some chilly weather.

Enjoyed reading the Thanksgiving posts. I had one all made up, but lost it and didn’t have time to to redo. But I wanted to say that I too enjoy the companionship of this group and all of you wonderful and caring ladies. Although I sold my trailer, thank you for the encouragement to take the plunge and get into RVing. I can now look back at the places I went, the people I met, the things I saw and most of all the friendships on here, some of whom I have met in person and others just here online. We area diverse bunch from all over the country but the love of travel and RV’s is what brought us together. Think of the GTG we could have if we were all together, the conversations and laughter would be non stop

So, with that, I am going to be on my way. Think I will head to town as I’m looking for a new snowmobile jacket to wear on dog walks or when using the snowblower. I sent the parka back as it just seemed like there wasn’t enough insulation in the sleeves even with fleece under it. Decided the snowmobile jackets are the best for winter walks, being outdoors etc. as They are windproof, waterproof, abrasion resistant. They don’t have hoods, but I don’t use them much anyway as they restrict side vision. I have my winter hat collection. Been wearing them for years as it’s a sport I used to participate in. I have another parka for running errands, church etc.

So have a wonderful Dsy everyone.

Morning Sue and All, chilly 36° this morning and sunny. Guess it’s time to get the snuggies out. Thinking Christmas here. I have mentioned that Garden Answers is my favorite YouTube garden show. I have coffee every morning with Laura. :D She made a Swag, I made a Swag. Hers looked great, mine was not. I need nice artificial greener which I do not have. Will try Michaels on Monday if they have any left. Laura also wrapped branch’s with fairy lights and stuck them in a container. I have a huge pot from the monster tomato plant so plan to do the same for the balcony. My brother lives on 16 acres and half in woods. We are going to take a walk tomorrow and look for the perfect tree shaped branch for my pot. Will see what else I can get into today. Be safe

Sue, good to see you post. My brother sent me a picture of his new snowblower. It looks like a big machine. They don't have snow yet but he is itching to try it out. I told him he better be careful what he wishes for. I have seen pictures of his yard with 4 feet of snow.

I use to have holly bushes that made good decorations but they were so aggravating that we finally pulled them up. It was hard to control them. My grandmother would send holly and pine branches to a friend in New Mexico for Christmas. She loved how green Louisiana is.

I saw pictures of the campout in North Louisiana. Everyone is sitting around bundled up with hats and gloves. I'm happy to be home in short sleeves and bare feet. lol It's 58 and overcast. The radar shows rain all over Texas so it will probably be here later. I would like to go to town because I'm bored but the traffic will probably be worse than yesterday.

Sue, I'm looking forward to seeing your Christmas and winter decorations. I'm in awe of the talent of you and so many others on here.

Martha, I'm not getting rain, but did have a few sprinkles this morning. I'm looking forward to the sun. These temps would be fine by me if sunny. That said, today's temps are up, high low 60's and tomorrow I get my wish. Sun and back to the low 70's.

Shirl, I'd love to see pictures of your branches with fairy lights. I love the idea and pictures in my head from the description.

Ty and I are just being bums again today. A couple people stopped me on my walk yesterday asking if I was ok (after I didn't go the Thanksgiving). Now they made me promise to let someone know if my sinuses and asthma kick up enough where I could need help. The friendliness of the folks here is the main reason I wanted to come back. So far these are mainly different people from when I was here last, but that vibe remains.

Snowmobile clothing is amazing because as Sue pointed out, it is windproof, waterproof, and fairly lightweight in spite of being very warm. I remember spending all day out on snowmobiles in below zero conditions and still being warm. I had big, thick boots, and my elbow-length mittens were leather and stuffed with down. Add a knitted full head and face mask and a helmet with a face screen, and I was fine. Best thing about my first one-piece snowmobile outfit was that it had a drop seat in the back so I did not have to undress in the woods to use the "facilities."

I still have photos of my youngest son falling asleep as I held him as he sat in front of me on my snowmobile. He was only two at the time, and my mother was very upset at us taking him out so young, but we had her stick her hand down into his snowmobile suit and feel how warm he was. Often we would have to stop for half an hour and spread him out on the seat to finish his nap because it was hard to hold him as he slumped!

Heading out to Walmart's to pick up some dinner rolls and a ham since I am tired of turkey already. Still have some thighs in the freezer if I decide to have some next week.

took me a bit but I got caught up!!!
Thanksgiving was busy and when I got back to dear daughter's was too tired and if possible was even more tired Friday so although I opened up and read a couple of posts I gave it up
Called my mom on Thanksgiving in the evening she didn't even realize that it was Thanksgiving not sure if they just didn't mention it or if nothing special in food or her mind set wasn't there...
we had a nice Thanksgiving day all of my kids were there... not all of the grandkids though... and my son in law in Idaho didn't come as he had to work...had plenty of food turkey was really yummy it must have been a small on as there were no leftovers... it was spat-chocked and smoked... I'd always thought that you would taste the smoke but didn't so guess that was a misconceived idea... we played a game of murder you take a old murder case go over the evidence and see if you can figure out the murderer .... don't know if they are factual murders or no but it was fun... guess you can subscribe to it and get a game a month... we also played a game of MEME
then Friday I opted out of going to Hill Air Force base Museum... dd had gotten some ticket for her husband for something and she was going to hang out at the museum well I just wasn't up to it then got a text to see if I'd take the girls down to SLC for swimming we were all meeting for a swim night at dd's motel so thought ugh will have to drive eldest gd here decided to go so I still didn't drive... I told her I drive often enough that when I can let someone else drive I do so.. my dd asked when do I drive??? I thought of those trips down to Q and back and this summer around town and all of the times I'm by myself and have to drive just cause when I'm around them they do the driving doesn't mean that I don't drive... :?
after swimming we all went to a mall area (it's an outdoor mall) I wanted some Fluff the world market didn't have it lots of walking around was so tired when we got through we went to one place to eat and they had already closed so I decided to walk to a near by restroom... hear my dd call to me uhg don't make me stop... I yell back they are closed have to go to restroom... and hurried on got to the restroom and they were putting up barrier I said NO NO NO pleas NO they let me in... what a relief that was... we then went back and went to PF Chang's first time was really good
today was a laid back day... did go to a grocery store... but other than that not done much other than my 2 rows and finish the hot pad gave them to dd
so that has been my three days...
think I will leave for Jackson on Thursday need to been in Lander on Sunday so might go to church then leave to drive up afterwards...
my grandson fell and cut the back of his head got two staples in it so they didn't come swimming with the rest I didn't come prepared to swim...
well it's late I don't know if I'm courting a cold again or it's the pollution getting to me... if a cold will hate the cold even more... I rarely catch anything sometimes that change of the season cold but not even that all the time...
it's late need to go to bed
you all have a great day and I am as well so thankful for this forum and those I've met on here... the opportunity to visit will all of you

Another unproductive day. Well, I did finish a library book and started on another one. I reheated the turkey slices in my toaster oven and they tasted much better today, more like turkey. :D Made some mashed potatoes and green beans to go with it. No gravy tho. :( I also forgot about the Hawaiian buns I got. Have had several helpings of apple pie and ice cream tho! Not the best apple pie (WM) but good enough.

I am trying to avoid turning on the heat at night but finally had to last night for a bit. Otherwise I have an extra blanket and am wearing my new fuzzy PJ's.

Got a text from a guy I know in the park here about getting a haircut at the salon. (He is a snowbird and wasn't here last year). I told him I retired from hair cutting and am working in the Cannabis business now. I don't really like this guy, so I kind of blew him off. He didn't reply to my text back.

Think of the GTG we could have if we were all together, the conversations and laughter would be non stop
I am pretty sure we don't have nearly enough bail money to cover the whole group!

It is really late for my bedtime! Gotta hit the sack! :o
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
