Tropical Tuesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Tropical Tuesday

Good morning to all. Surprised no one has opened. There is good Mexican coffee and pastries available. Weve already been out to breakfast, stopped at the laundry which wasn't open 1/2 hour after their posted time. Oh well, will go back later. Put gasoline in the Jeep 69 liters to the tune of $1,650. about US$80 gas is expensive here too. 18,50 gallons Now we are waiting for the Jeep mechanic as the AC quit cooling. Also thinking about fixing the back windows so they will go up and down again. Depends on price and if he can do it.
Yesterday we went into Centro to a really nice restaurant, an old old home, sat in the patio for breakfast. Had crepes stuffed with bananas, sweet cream cheese, walnuts and caramel. YUM. Each had one and coffee only US$14

Remains hot and very humid here. Pretty much stay inside during middle of day. Lots of new things to see and do here when it cools down some.
Last night our view for dinner. Image
Rough life.
Take care every one. We are waiting for all of our Canadian friends to get here. Most are on the road now.

I was going to post this in “General,” but since it’s to give those who view it a good laugh today, I decided here is best. I suppose many have seen this in the past, but it’s timeless - Abbott & Costello “Who’s on First?” It really shows what comic geniuses they were.

This came up due to something similar that happened recently on Fox News. It was the Laura Ingraham show and she had no clue when the contributor mentioned a Netflix show called “You” and she had a hilarious on-air “discussion” with him.

I went to the dermatologist today. Froze some things. Biopsied one. Instead of freezing my nose and an area above my lip she wanted me to get a topical prescription. She thought it would be inexpensive. Ha. The freezing is completely covered by Medicare. My prescription plan doesn't cover this topical (except applying my payment to the deductible, which unless I get terribly ill, this will most likely be my only prescription). So I pulled up Goodrx, and brought it down to about $45. The pharmacist had already called to see about getting a different medication, but I accepted the Goodrx price before he was called back. I must say I was pleasantly surprised when the dermatologist's office called me soon after to see what we could do. I told her what I had already done but said next year we'll stick with the freezing unless this is really that much better. I know it's going to turn the area red because she said I could wait until after the holiday if I wanted. Lol. I'll survive whatever it does.

I just boxed up my big air fryer as I want it with me next summer and won't be returning here before then. I'm arguing with myself that I should leave the little one here. But the big won't fit where I store the little one so I'm probably better leaving it there or who knows what I'll put in place of it.

With meats being so expensive I was lucky to find a couple different discounted 30% off packages at Safeway after going to that pharmacy. Now I need to pull my pressure cooker out tomorrow and take one of the packages and make some kind of stew to then repackage in single servings for the freezer.

Well, I have officially bought up all the turkey thighs in Destin, FL. I went to two different stores and got two packages of two thighs in each store. (A couple were small.) Cost was only $3.29 per pound, so total bill for 8 thighs was---wait for it---$22! That will easily last me 8 or 10 meals, so I was happy with that. (I looked at steaks, but it looks like you need to take out a loan for those--ridiculous!)

Of course where to put them was a big issue when I got home, especially since I also had bought two packages of Dove ice cream bars. My freezer was stuffed, so I emptied it out and defrosted it. I hate that job and wonder why they cannot put a drain hole in it like there is in the refrigerator?? Anyway, I tossed out a couple of things and put a couple of other things to thaw in the refrigerator so I can eat them to get rid of them. I had cleaned out the refrigerator last week, so I now have a clean top and bottom to my refrigerator!

I had some of the thinner plastic bags, so put one thigh in each and them four in a larger freezer bag. Worked out well and one package is freezing, while the other is in the refrigerator. I did not want to overwork the freezer, so will freeze those tomorrow. However, now that I have eaten the leftover rice and turkey leg from two days ago, I need to go get an ice cream bar for dessert!

I posted this on yesterday.....geez forgot what day it was. So moved it over here.

Good afternoon, chilly day today but the sun is out now but still pretty chilly out. Took my neighbor phone shopping today. He did not have a heart attack at the price. He is pretty tight BUT we found a phone at his current carrier and with his discount $104 so he was super happy. Ordered a case for it on Amazon for $12 so he will be all set. Had to set up some things on his phone for him. He only reads his email, makes phone calls and rarely surfs the internet on the phone so this is perfect for him.

Not much else going on here today. Kind of a lazy afternoon now. Leftover meatloaf for dinner so I am all set. Going to make a cup of cocoa and see if I can watch a few more episodes of Hearland.

I didn't do much today. The temperature went up to 84 so I washed the camper which I didn't get done yesterday. I used a different soap from the last time and I didn't like it either. I keep writing the name of soap people recommend and can't find them. Someone recommended a soap for fiberglass boats and there is a marine store in Lafayette. You think I'll remember that when I go to Lafayette.

Judy, glad you found some turkey thighs. I need to start looking at the different stores for some. I have never seen them at Walmart. The local store I found them at last year has changed hands. I'll have to check the Super One. Every year I make 2 batches of cranberry sauce and freeze it. I just opened the last of last years sauce. I haven't seen any cranberries for sale yet.

I was having trouble with my phone at the campout. I needed a 6 year old to fix it for me. My phone wanted to connect to Wifi and not use the cell signal. I kept messing with it and it finally started using the cell signal. Don't know what I did. My tablet uses Verizon and there was almost no Verizon signal. Of course, the campground Wifi was useless. The local state park has good Wifi.

I had meatloaf for dinner too. I have one more slice of meatloaf in the freezer and then I will have to make another one.

I am past due for a visit to the dermatologist. I finally found one that would take medicare over a year ago. They told me they would call me in a year. Yea right. I have the date of my last doctor visit on my desk and keep thinking I will make an appointment.

When I got home Sunday Inky and Mini Moo weren't around. I didn't see them all day yesterday. Inky finally showed up about 5:00.

Martha, you need to go to a supermarket that has butchers on staff and a real meat counter. The thighs will not be at the customer meat counter, but will be next to the chicken. The reason for needing butchers and a meat counter is that they receive fresh turkeys, cut them into parts, and put them next to the chicken. The problem with Walmart is that their meat almost certainly comes cut up already.

So try any of the big chains. I did not do all my shopping at Publix, just the thighs and a few other things I forgot the other day at Walmart.

Carol, that is a gorgeous photo! The sunset photo is beautiful too!
The older Jeep Libertys have issues with the windows dropping down into the doors. One of mine did that. The part that breaks inside the door is plastic and it is replaced by another plastic part so it will keep breaking. I found the part on-line that a guy makes out of metal so I ordered that and had it put in. Is your window dropping down like that?

I am a white meat kind of girl. No dark meat for me, thanks. I got a pre-cooked slice of turkey breast at WM. Last year I did a whole turkey breast and didn't care for it. Hoping this is better and easier.

When I got home from work today, I saw the family of kittens playing in the road just down from my place. It was daylight too! With all the action going on around here, I am surprised they are out and about like that. I saw the orange tabby I had caught. Also one of the calicos which is adorable! Mom cat (also orange tabby) was there too.

Got most of the deck cleaned up before dark and got two card tables from a neighbor to use for my "free" sale on Friday.

I stopped at Taco Bell for dinner, forgetting that I have fresh corn on the cob at home and wasn't hungry enough later to make that. Hope I remember tomorrow night before the corn isn't so fresh anymore.

Starting to cool off some now. Had my bedroom window open all night and probably will tonight too. Was down to 85 for a high today. We opened the big doors at work for awhile. There are no clear windows at work (all painted black to keep anyone from looking in, so was nice to see daylight and get some fresh air.

Sheila, how are you and your mom doing?

Have a good night! (9pm and I am already in bed! ).
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Barbie I'm in Jackson and Mom is in Lander at my brother's house... her COVID test was positive so tomorrow they are going to give her some infusion that reported help with the COVID not sure what she is doing different if anything since I was there... she had a slight cough and was really hoarse and sleeps a lot even for her it's a lot also her feet are really swollen nothing to do with the virus I'm sure but something we are really concerned about... she isn't walking much as I am sure that it feels weird to walk on balls... not sure what to do about the swollen feet actually have no idea... my sister in law thinks if she moved more that would help but when you are fighting two or more things what do you do???
one of my brother's called her tonight but wasn't sure what she was saying so told her what I knew had to do with the house next door... then I told him that mom tested positive he replied back mom didn't mention it I said when did you talk to her? he said tonight I said perhaps she didn't think about it or didn't want to worry him and reminded him that he holds things back from mom... it's a fact he just replied back okay I am hoping when my brother takes mom in for the infusion he will think to ask about her swollen feet... guess we will see...
moved a couple of boxes one was a bread maker that mom has never used... doubt that it was even taken out of the box... makes it really hard to know what to give her I know that the Swedish weave I gave her not sure if it was last year or year before is sitting in a box on her bed.. even the gift cards are residing in a purse...she gave them to me to use so they are now in my purse  not sure where I will put the bread maker perhaps some place handy and use it some time..
question on the air fryer... well not question but it almost sounds like you need more than one if doing more things in it for a meal... like how do you do veggies and meat for two in it???
need to find a place to get pellets for the pellet stove..
sort of a mystery I was looking out the window on to the deck and realized that the grill had been moved so called niece and asked if they did she didn't know and would ask her husband when she could then I remembered that daughter and son in law had been here thought maybe they did not really thinking they did but called and asked but no they didn't and asked if it was the wind thought doubt that it was that but a possibility so niece called back they hadn't moved it and then asked if the propane tank was still in it will look tomorrow... just weird as really to move it the wind would have had to come from a strange way and wouldn't it have moved it in an angle not just away from the railing quite a ways makes one really wonder. think it will get moved to the storage shed and then that locked up... I am betting that the house gets alarmed to some extent...
my smell is returning not totally back but smell some stuff
you all have a good day
