Friday 11/12

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Friday 11/12

Postby BirdbyBird » Fri Nov 12, 2021 11:15 am

Morning still here in Ohio. Jane will continue to get ready for her weekend shows. I will continue to move slowly, run errands, read a book and make sure that I set the alarm for o'dark hundred tonight so that I can arrive at the show site by 7 am and find a grooming spot inside for Jane's equipment. Too cold to groom out side this weekend.

Lark went for a chiropractor appointment yesterday afternoon. She got some manipulation, some electrical stimulation and Cold Laser. Lark has had a stitch in her giddy up since Monday. The Dr. has worked on humans for 38 years and on animals for 16.... He works on horses and all sorts of critters. Lark isn't dancing on table tops yet but then I reminded her that her jumping around at the back door is probably not good for healing. She goes back on Tuesday for a recheck.

Remember that the imaginary Chef is working again this morning. Order whatever you want and enjoy it with your morning beverage......

The sun is shining and it is a great day here to run errands!

Good morning Tina, and fur kids and all who follow! ! It's bright and sunny here in Northern California, though I heard there was fog overnight in some areas. It's 61° and cool in the house as its been extra ventilated as the kitchen floor has been removed and reveals areas of mold where water leaked during the flood a week ago. My pantry is now empty and working on rest of kitchen amd dining area, in preparation to move furniture out so floor can be replaced. Massive decluttering needed and in progress. I'm going to dress and try to get early to Curves.
Hope you and tne fur kids have a good weekend at the show. Hope the rest of you are busy having fun and enjoying travels or whatever you are doing.
At 07 this morning I could hear the wild Turkeys in my yard! They sure grow up quickly! They are maybe 50% bigger than a month ago. Some have distinctive colors so I know who is who, but, nope I haven't names them.

Good morning, Tina and all else. Happy to hear you are back to showing pups, Tina. Reminded me that it’s about time to schedule Rascal for a chiropractor appointment. Any relief I can give him I’ll take. Sue, love your decorations! And for sharing with your neighbors and us! I’ve been busy trying to stay on top of the leaves but I think right now it’s a no win situation! I’m still amazed at how many leaves are till hanging on to the trees and are still green. We had rain and strong winds last night so a whole new batch on the ground.
I decided to tackle the leaking toilet upstairs finally yesterday. Everything went fairly smoothly but now I have to somehow get the whole thing to line up with the 2 bolts and it’s heavy. I need some more muscle power and not quite sure how I’m going to accomplish it without messing everything up. How do I get myself in these fixes? I’ve always said I’m good at taking apart but getting it back together is my problem! Guess I don’t know my limits! So I walked away from it while I try to come up with a solution. Another cup of coffee might help!
So that’s about it for my news. Hope you all have a great day. Stay safe.

Cloudy and rain supposed to be coming in soon. Guess we are in for many back to back storms. Well we need it, like I keep saying, so I am trying to keep a smile on my face when it is pouring LOL Now they are threatening us with floods. A big rockslide closed one of the highways to the coast just north of me. And so it starts.

Good to be home. I went to the store and loaded up on some much needed items. There were plenty of empty spaces on the shelves but I got what I needed. I did score a couple of turkey thighs which made me very happy. I didnt want to buy a turkey because I get tired of it too quickly so will cook one of these and save the other one for later. I picked up a package of fish for dinner as all I have in my freezer is salmon and a package of scallops that I was going to have for Thanksgiving but now it will be turkey thigh.

Sharon I had to do a work around for installing one of my outside lights yesterday and I had to do some serious pondering. BUT I prevailed and it is working great so fingers crossed you can figure out something also.

Hope you have a second toilet, Othersharon! How about trying to stick some strips of wood under the toilet so you can move it around to position it to fit on the bolts. You could tip it to put them under it, so you would not have to completely lift it up.

I am trying to find a trailer hitch company in this area to make some adjustments to my bike rack. I have not ridden my bike much this past year, first because of the bad scrape I got when I fell in early January. Second, because I have been a little afraid of falling again, and third because I need paved roads or sidewalks on which to ride it. Bike and I do not do well on gravel.

Anyway, new rack is attached by a hitch connection that is 6" higher than the old one. This means I have to lift the bike higher, which is very, very hard for me, when I get it off or put it back on. It also sticks out farther than it needs to, so I called the manufacturer and asked if I could put a different connection on it to make it more level and slightly lower. They said they had put it higher so it would not drag going up a hill, but my old one did not drag, so it should be OK. Just too high for me as it is. I will ride it more often if it is easier to get on and off.

Otherwise, just sitting around inside today and trying to make some phone calls about RV storage for when I go to UK, getting a geriatric care manager for my aunt, and some other things I have put off for too long.

Store was sold out of turkey thighs yesterday, but they promised they would have more by tomorrow. Will head there early Sunday, when I leave here. I want to freeze several, if I can find room in tiny freezer.

Just an update….I managed to get the toilet in with some wiggle and juggle! So far it’s not leaking so hoping that’s good! I went with a different wax free set after talking to a very knowledgeable young lady at Lowes last night. She said she has it with all 3 of here toilets in her home and hasn’t had any problems. Judy, I have 2 toilets downstairs so other then when I got up last night and had to go downstairs that wasn’t an issue! Just a pain in the middle of the night. Thank goodness for how to videos! So of course I had to vacuum and scrub while I was at it so a few minute job turned into an all day affair! Karen, does anything ever go easy? Just wish I had paid more attention when DH did some of this stuff around the house! Now to figure out something to eat for dinner!

Glad to hear you had a spare.

When my son lived in a one-bathroom older house in Cleveland, he wanted to redo his bathroom completely. So, he installed a toilet in the unfinished basement on top of a drain clean-out. So, for a couple of months, if you were asleep upstairs, you had to go down two flights of stairs and use the toilet in the basement. No walls or curtains or anything around the toilet, so you just had to hope no one else came down while you were there!!

Also, I asked that question because I once had a plugged toilet in my motorhome. It was midnight, and I posted HELP! on this forum and got a quick answer to stick something down there and try to break up the clog. (It was freezing and raining outside, so no way did I want to run in the dark to the restrooms!) I was panicked at not having a second toilet, but got it unclogged fast. Whew!!

well somewhere somehow I did it.... that stupid cold was Covid after all :( :( not happy about it at all
best part is that while I tested positive today since the on set of symptoms was so long ago I'm only in isolation till an hour from now... to be honest I truly didn't think it being more than a cold... so even though I could lawfully go tomorrow morning the kids or at least the two that have voiced any opinions say I should wait till I'm totally over the "cold" I had to go through a temp scan at the hospital never indicated I had a fever no chills or than it's cold so if I'm cold it's cause it's not Arizona temps  no aches none of the stuff that they asked about other than I did lose my sense of smell that happened earlier in the week but my nose is so stuffed up that truly thought it was that and that is so not abnormal for me... usually stuffed up... been going to get a Navage see if that would help the nasal passage but haven't made it to the businesses that carry it... so guess I hang out here for a few days ... then well call the health dept see if they think I need to do another test oh it was a rapid test that I did today that tested positive still waiting on the other one...
then my brother called and my mom had a day of sleeping didn't even get up for meals did get up to go potty then back to the chair and to sleep he was concerned enough he called a dr he knew who stopped by guess all checked out and he thought the problem was a build up of meds in her system.... not sure what he recommended doing though... but he was really concerned enough that we called other siblings and made them aware of her day... I too am concerned about her just don't know what the future will bring or when it will bring...
so the day was a bust I'm all packed and no where to go so guess I will unpack I watered plants and my thanksgiving cactus is looking so pretty ought to take a picture of it tomorrow... and vegged out on tv
you all have a great day

Hardly anyone was at work today so was very quiet with just 3 of us. Time went fast tho. I did leave an hour early since the others were leaving early. I figured it would give me more time to get stuff done at home. I guess the new boss lady will be in on Monday to tell us what the big exciting plans are!

Left work and stopped at Home Depot to return the cat trap. Then went home and went thru my emails, etc. Then fell asleep and slept for about 4 hours! Thought it was morning when I woke up! Not sure why I am so sleepy lately. Maybe still getting used to getting getting up and going to bed so much earlier :? I had plans to get more cleaning done this afternoon but obviously that didn't happen.

Tomorrow I am going to Linda's trailer. She didn't want to go up to Oak Glen so we will check out some parks near her that are having huge yard sales this weekend, then have a cookout at her trailer. Will also give her a haircut.

I am going up to Oak Glen on Sunday with a lady I gave a haircut to a few weeks ago here in the park. Apple season is coming to an end soon so I want to get up there. I guess the trees there are turning really colorful right now so I want to take my camera with. It is in the low 90's here and the low 70's up there.

Judy, what will the geriatric care manager do?

Better get back to bed soon! Have to get up early tomorrow.

Barbie, a geriatric care manager supervises or monitors the care of an elderly person when the family needs help. We would use one to check on my aunt in her memory care facility to make sure things are being done that we are told are being done! They are usually RNs or social workers with a certification in geriatric care management.
