It’sFriday again!

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

It’sFriday again!

Postby Colliemom » Fri Nov 05, 2021 7:57 am

Morning y’all. First week of November is almost over. Month going by way to fast. I’m busy with my Thanksgiving wood cut outs. Want to get thrm done, so I can put them out. Will finish up small details on first one this morning and thrn start another. Have two more to do. But these are smaller and can do both at same time. Have another pattern coming in mail today. They take time to do, as once I trace the outline on the plywood and cut it out, I then have to trace the entire pattern on the cutout after I put primer on. Then I can start painting. But the weather hasn’t been that great to be outside, so this is keeping me busy.

We have lost almost all the snow from the other day and it will be gone by day’s end probably or tomorrow at latest. Thrn I can go clean up the leaves that came down past couple of days. Should get another piece of plywood and cut my Christmas patterns out while it’s mild out. Have enough left from current project to do the one coming today.

Got my Covid booster and flu shots, so that’s taken care of. No issues there. Arms didn’t hurt either unless I touch the spots. Trying out a new hearing aid as my current one is 5 years old and needs a repair. I’m impressed with this one. Same brand, just the latest next generation of it. It’s either pay $450 for repair of old one or put that toward new one as have been setting money aside for a new one, since I bought the last one. Technology just keeps improving.

Shelia, sounds like your mom has a bit of determination once she found out she was being released. Hope she keeps improving. Best of luck to you and your family. Karen, don’t cha just live it when power goes out and thrn comes back on after you get all ready to leave and have to do a quick get ready before it does. I’ve got an assortment of lanterns, batteries etc. here too and even oil lamps. Heat and water are the critical things with no power here, especially in winter. Knock in wood, have not had that issue since I’ve lived here, but want to be prepared much as I can. Been toyi g the generator issue around. Shirl, good luck with the tulips.

Need to get moving here. Time’s a wasting. Things to do before I get back to my project. Have a nice day all.

Morning All, still sunny and cool. Sue that is the best kind of snow, beautiful to see and melted before it gets ugly. Planted 25 bulbs in the pot so fingers crossed. Got a video of Luca the Yorkie this morning. He races down a dark hall to fetch a tiny flashing ball, races back to daughter and drops it at her feet and waits for her to throw again. He is so tiny it’s hysterical. He is my service dog. Haven’t a clue what I will do today, will just wing it. Be safe

Good morning all. Sue, as beautiful as the picture is I’m glad it wasn’t here! We are getting super cold nights right now, it’s only 32 out back now and it’s this late in the morning! I pulled the snowblower to the front of the garage so I’m as ready as I can be. I bagged up leaves in the driveway the first of the week and I think there’s twice as many there now! So tomorrow I’ll get out there and start again! Today I have workmen fixing the main chimney on the house so kinda need to be available since they are coming through the house to the attic. I can’t believe this whole thing. I stopped over at the electric store last Friday to catch up with them and ask about converting the lights in my kitchen to LED. We visited for awhile (husband worked there for awhile before he passed) and I mentioned about people not getting back to me. Bruce said he had a fellow that does masonry work for him and he’d have him stop by to look at it. Monday afternoon the guy was at my door! We tentatively said a couple of weeks but he called yesterday and asked if he could do it today! So I was happy to say yes! Bruce gets it done!! Small towns have advantages! Bruce and his wife were super to DH and have been to me ever since. So anyway, plans for running today are on hold but that’s okay! Amazing what I’ve gotten done while I waited for them to come! I had to get up and moving earlier then I usually am so already got some housework done! But I don’t see me making a habit of it! Again I’m enjoying reading about everyone’s adventures be it at home or traveling. So guess I need to go vacuum and call housework done for the day! I got a package of burger out last night to thaw so now I need to decide what I want to do with it. I’ll think about it while I vacuum! Have a great day.

It got down to 46 last night and is up to 52. It's suppose to be sunny but that hasn't happened yet. It looks like almost all of Florida is getting rain. I walked down the road and back after I fed the outside cats so I could get away without 4 of them following me. Two days in a row. Hope I can keep it up.

Four of the dumb butt cats had a rat cornered in the back yard and kept playing with it. It must have made it to the tall grass because they are now sitting along the fence looking that way.

Not much planned today. I told my son I would meet him at the DMV office just in case he has a problem. I don't know if they are one of the places that won't take cash and he doesn't have a credit card. When we went to the Tabasco Plant the gift shop and restaurant would only take credit cards. I pay cash if it's one of the places that wants to add a service charge. If you renew things online with the DMV they charge 8%. It's bad enough that things have gone up so much.

Good afternoon ladies!

Sorry I missed the roll call on the first, but I was busy that day.

Sue, I loved the picture you posted, but that's as close as I want to get to snow. Beth, I'm looking forward to your adventures with your friends as you're traveling to your next destination. Carol, have fun in Mexico. BJ, I hope you get good results from your MRI and start feeling better. Barbie, enjoy the weekend off with hopes of accomplishing what you want. Martha, I too, try to walk every morning and the incentive of meeting friends that also walk makes it easier. But today was a wash out so hope to get in some extra steps tomorrow. Shirl, Karen, Anita & others, I love your conversations about food.

My sister from Daytona Beach came with friends on Tuesday to visit us. She lost her hubby a year ago last month and has been a mess the last year. But we had a good visit and I was doing lots of meal preparations on Monday for their visit. Yesterday, Brenda from our forum also came for a visit and saw our new home for the first time. We always have a good time with her when we get together and are looking forward to some adventures while she is here in FL.

Continue staying safe.

I just got back from dropping off the RoadTrek so she can get her new refrigerator installed. Dog show weekends with out a frig work fine but I think that traveling for a couple of weeks at a time, I might get tired of peanut butter. Concerning the topic of food, you know that I am famous for avoiding cooking. Unfortunately now that winter has begun to show up I may have to heat some things up or, gulp, cook things. My go to stand by the last month or so has been buying macaroni salad from Krogers, small cans of tuna or chicken, sweet relish. Add to that a hard boiled egg and suddenly I have a tuna salad. The mayo in the macaroni is more than enough. I eat less macaroni salad this way, because a little goes a long way and only use the small cans of tuna so I end up with one serving. I don't have to use any "will power" not to eat a whole bowl full.

My current dilemma is having to decide by November 19 whether or not I want to work the spring scoring season at the testing center. Sadly, I don't think I have the stamina to sit in a chair for eight hours and score or supervise. I know that I don't want to work any of what I consider the marathon contracts that go on for 6-10 weeks. It may look like I have an exciting busy life here running around with my dogs but the truth is that after every trial or show, or any day long commitment, I come home and collapse and it takes at least one full day to recover. Minimum. I don't sleep well consistently and as many of you also mention from time to time, my body does not respond enthusiastically to early rising. Sigh. I think I might respond that I may be available for one of the shorter contracts later in the spring. I can do for a short time what I don't want to do for a long time. The smaller states have fewer students at each grade and their tests don't require the same length of commitment that Florida's do. Guess it comes down to the philosophical question of balancing Time and Money. My STRS pension can carry me through and support some adventures but there is no longer a pot of investments to fund the really big travel ideas. Like many, choices will need to be made. The way my body have been talking this past year, it will not be ignored. Somehow spending hours a day sitting in front of a computer working on someone else's project and not working on any of my own, seems as if I am throwing valuable time away....even if I am getting paid for it. The money will be worthless without Time...... So maybe small adventures have their own appeal. We knew going into all of this that we can't do it all but I do think it is important to enjoy what you can!

Pondering completed for the day..... off to clean out some closets, read a book and take a nap with the dogs. Lark said I should take her for a walk in the sunshine but hands and body say it is too chilly to be comfortable. I am back to living in multiple layers and warm Alpaca sox here in Ohio.

Another rainy day here today. Just a constant drizzle not a storm. We need it so I am happy....for now LOL Got spareribs in the crockpot for dinner and then can make some pulled pork sandwiches. I didnt want to buy too much as I am leaving Monday for Medford for a few days so will shop when I get home.

Sue is keeping busy, me not so much today. Been surfing the sales but so far nothing has grabbed me. Which is a good thing. So did a little housekeeping and threw in a load of laundry. Big doings I know LOL Tina do what your body tells you that you can do without setting yourself back. Baby steps. Well think I will see what is on the tube. I have been happy with cancelling Spectrum tv and going to Youtube tv. So far so good, I dont watch a lot of tv but I do have several shows I like to follow and they are on the local channels so needed something as an external antenna doesnt cut it here. I used one when I first moved in before cable was installed and I got about 9 channels so it sufficed for then as I really was too busy to watch much anyway.

Shirl the big gardening news here is my silly Christmas cacti are blooming. I tried to go repot the poor neglected things and they are in bloom so repotting will have to wait. Apparently they dont know when Christmas is LOL

Anyone hear from Carol? She has been posting on her blog every day, but has not posted since Wednesday morning, so hope she posts tonight that she has arrived in Mazatlan.

Cold today, and had planned a bike ride, but putting it off until tomorrow. No rain here on the panhandle, but I slept in and did some sewing repair to a couple of things and then have just been lazy. Aunt fell again on Monday because night staff forgot to take her to the bathroom early in the morning, which I had been promised they would do. All of her falls in the last 4 months have been due to getting up early on her own and walking to the bathroom or sliding off her bed as she reaches for her walker. The solution was to have staff get her up an hour or two earlier than normal and take her to the bathroom so she does not fall. Also having problems because caregivers are putting towels over the toilet grab rails!!!! One of these days she is going to break bones or hit her head, and we are really furious. This memory care facility is about $2,000 per month more than the others in the area, so we should be getting much better care for her!!

Got some vacuum cleaner bags via Amazon, so need to go outside and get my vacuum cleaner and do some vacuuming. Canister vac is an off-brand, and it has taken me 6 months to find replacement bags!!!

I'm at tonight's Harvest Host location... A diner in Tucson. The place is adorable. And I never heard of it before with all my time in Tucson! Even middle of the afternoon the place is hopping. I'll have dinner and possibly breakfast before leaving in the morning. They have an area in the parking lot for reserved Harvest Host guests. Before I could go in and check in, someone was coming out to move cones and direct me in. People who don't like city noises wouldn't like it here. Me who loves being in the middle of nowhere also loves something like this. I'm guessing it'll get quiet over night. But it is Friday lol.

It's hotter in Tucson than it was in Phoenix. This is quite unusual. It'll be a bit cooler in Benson and drop more there next week before I leave. Nothing drastic.

I wanted to get an oil change for the rig today. Nothing worked out, so I'll have to see about arranging it in Benson.

Judy, I'm hoping Carol gets her butt back in here, also. Maybe she's just celebrating too much!

Judy and Beth, Carol had posted that construction cut the internet cable at the campground and she might posted for a few days. Hoping they arrived safely.

Carol just posted on her blog that they are now in Mazatlan. I imagine she'll be back on this blog soon. At least they made it without too many problems or breakdowns!

Good evening gals!

With all the sleep I got caught up on yesterday, I felt much better today. Everyone was leaving work several hours early today but I managed to hang in there and work 7 hours. Got a text from Linda that she is in town now. We will be getting together on Sunday. It has been quite a few years since I have seen her!

Will be busy tomorrow getting caught up with cleaning around here. Have been too tired every day to do anything lately. Will have a couple of energy drinks for breakfast and that ought to get me going!

Glad Carol and Bill made it to Mazatlan. Now they can relax!

Beth, did you meet up with Linda yesterday?

Judy, is there any way you can move your aunt to a different facility? Sounds like she is just an accident waiting to happen!

Tina, I hope you can make a good decision about that job. Having just started full-time at my job 2 weeks ago, I am already having a lot of back pain and getting exhausted by the end of the day now. I have to just deal with it since I really need the money. I would go back to part-time if I could survive on that.

Shirl, having such a tiny doggie as your service dog is hilarious! Someone here at my park has a mini Yorkie too and they are so adorable and teenie tiny!

I must be getting used to going to bed early now since it is before 9 and I am already tired and ready for bed!

Have a good night!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

mom was awake most of yesterday and asleep today more than she was awake... and her pain level is higher today even if we didn't ask what it was you can tell by how she isn't walking and the ouching as she walks or stands so little to no progress today on the mom front...
boy was it windy last night... one of those had I been in a trailer would have been wondering if it will remain up right...
you know how there are some things that bug a person??? yep we all have them mine is leaving the cupboard doors open... hate it and they do a really good job of leaving them open never understand why people don't close them after getting whatever out... :?
this will be short as there wasn't much to done today to relate too..
glad that Linda has made it as far as you Barbie
I didn't read the article as it didn't apply to me personally but think I saw an article with headlines indicating that leaves left benefit the ground... that maybe reason enough not to rake up the leaves...
What did you decided to do with your hamburger was it Sharon? and 25 bulbs wow that is a major amount of blooms you will have to post the pictures when they bloom
so is my Christmas cactus / Thanksgiving cactus/ Easter cactus not sure which one it is but by far the most blooms I've ever seen on it and darn but I am going to miss them so aggravating... I combined two in one pot and sometimes part of it blooms and then other times the other part blooms and then maybe not... but this time bugs over the whole cactus both of them
might have to have niece go over and take a picture some time while I am gone...
you all have a great day
