End of another month

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

End of another month

Postby asirimarco » Sun Oct 31, 2021 7:59 am

Good morning to all - We are in San Carlos, Sonora, Mexico for our 5th day. Here longer then we usually stay. Had to get out awning fixed when a piece of the metal mechanism just broke. Had a welder come out. He took it apart, took it to shop and repaired it and reinstalled it.
Also re-welded the front light bar on the Jeep and removed and replaced a couple of brackets for the safety cables US100. The awning piece was a real challenge - so all done. Internet here is pretty good so I wanted to stay to watch the NASCAR races this weekend. Beside our next two days of driving will be long ones. About 300 miles each on some not really good toll roads. This is a three day weekend - Day of the Dead, so don't know if we will leave tomorrow or Tuesday. Bill is wanting to get to Mazatlan.
I had a trip/fall here. Not bad. But landed partly on my little finger, makes typing hard, it is still pretty sore if touched.
It is still pretty warm here in the day but cools down a lot at night. And last night was very humid. Ick.
Just thought I'd check in. Hope you all have good weather and safe travels.

Morning All, sunny and cool. Road outside apartment was closed for 24 hours do to flooding at high tide. We faired better than the western shore of Maryland. Kayakers were paddling downtown Annapolis since there wasn’t a walkway. Businesses flooded, a real mess. Carol, you and Bill have had more than your share of problems this year. Hope this is the end of it. Karen, if you bake an apple crisp on your free day does that mean I have to eat it all today? Retailers have ruined holidays. If I watched Christmas movies for two months before the holiday I would be too sick of it to put up a tree. Thank goodness for Amazon Prime video and Britbox Sheila, hope everything is ok with you. Beth, pie, yum. Be safe

Yikes, I'm on sugar overload. I just bought 2 pieces of pie, a piece of something called cowboy cheesecake and a gigantic cinnamon roll. I ate half the cinnamon roll for breakfast. Hopefully my hosts at today's stop take 2 of the other pieces off my hands! I'm now just hanging around as I told them I wouldn't arrive till early afternoon and it's only mid morning and a 30 minute drive! Keep me away from the sugar!!!!

Now I want pie. lol What makes Cowboy Cheesecake different? I decided to start writing down what I eat. That seems to be the only thing that will stop me from eating something, if I have to write the calories down. We will see how long that lasts.

Another problem with Mr. P. Yesterday he started throwing up. Today I am trying to feed him and wait at least an hour before I give him any medicine. Sugar's favorite cat, the one that walks with us, has been missing for 3 days. I don't know where these dodo go off to.

The weather is beautiful and it's up to 78. It's suppose to be warm until Thursday and rain again. I might go fishing.

Shirl, sorry your area is having flooding. That always makes such a mess. I don't know how anyone stands 2 months of the Hallmark Christmas shows. My sister always wants to watch that if the satellite works when we are camping and I want to throw up.

I think of you, Martha, every time I watch a Hallmark Christmas movie! I haven't had Hallmark in years, and I love the decorations and settings more than the story. I have done the writing down and counting calories. Need to start that again, but with cooler weather, I am already feeling the need for comfort food.

Pie and cinnamon roll! Yum! Shirl, flooding is such a mess. I don't think it happens around here, but there are plenty of places in Washington that rivers overflow often.

The Moderna booster hit me! I was ready for a nap before my 2nd cup of coffee yesterday! Took the nap eventually and then kids asked if I wanted to go for a ride. Leaves are going to be gone soon, and the river was really rolling! Another nap, chills and face felt flushed. Had to have a blanket. Okay so far, but I told the kids I'd watch football at home just in case. We also got the Sling seat unstuck. :)

I decided against apple crisp, I can’t be trusted. Maybe in a couple of weeks. I know what I shouldn’t eat so don’t weigh myself or write anything down. I can now tie my shoes without cutting off my breath so am on the right track. Martha, they make me nauseated too. They don’t even know how to kiss.

Ty is having fun with the 3 dogs here. He's ignoring the horses and the chickens are fenced off. I was given a couple fresh eggs. Yum. I gave the owner the cowboy cheesecake and one of the pieces of pie. She'd never heard of cowboy cheesecake either so immediately cut two small pieces for us to try. It's delicious and hard to explain. It's cheesecake in a pastry dough with an apple cinnamon glaze. At least that's the best explanation I can give. I would get it again! She thinks the dough is the reason for the cowboy designation.

I'm invited to join her and several neighbors to pass out treats at dusk. I'm already forgiven if I don't join them. Super nice lady. Her husband is out of town but a daughter, daughters husband and granddaughter are around.

Cheryl, I honestly don't know if I've ever gotten a tetanus shot in my adulthood.

Good afternoon. Been busy putzing around the house. You know clean out a junk drawer, then have to figure out where to put the stuff, then put it in another junk drawer LOL Exercise in futility today. Did get my kitchen floor vacuumed and washed.

I am due for my tetanus also but I get the TDAP shot. Tetanus, diptheria and pertussis. Because if you are around kids you should get this shot. It was required when I was nursing so I will just get it again to be safe. I dont want to get pertussis either. Figured I had enough vaccines for this year LOL so will get the Shingle, second Pneumonia and TDAP next year.

I dont write down anything but I do use the My Fitness Pal app to log my food. I also have it on my laptop. I like that I can just enter it myself or scan the UPC code and it does it for me. It helps me to see what I am eating and how I am doing on calories, protein, fat, carbs, cholesterol, sodium. It also links with my fitbit so that I like. You dont really realize how many calories are in some foods and how quickly they add up. I am weighing myself every Monday. Going to be scary tomorrow as I wasnt real good in Medford ha ha But I am back on track now. Shirl I want to make some apple crisp so will find the recipe for one on One Dish Cooking then I am not tempted to overeat. They have some super dessert recipes on there but I have to watch the calories. I also dont use sugar I use Pyure erithrotol sweetener. It is granulated kind (also have the confectioners) ZERO calories or carbs. And to me no after taste and I can use it for cooking and in a cup of tea.

I occasionally watch a Hallmark movie but dang all they have on now are Christmas movies and I cant do that. So glad I have lots of choices. I like Pluto and Tubi for the older shows, otherwise it is Netflix Hulu or the Roku channel which I am watching a series on now. I am only on Season 4 and there are 14 seasons LOL I may never finish it in this lifetime.

Did not post yesterday because I was driving and also ended up with only about an hour of sleep the night before. By the time I got to Eastbank COE campground late afternoon, I was literally staggering and very hungry. I managed to hook up electric and grab some food before going to bed. Slept about 12 hours. I don't know why, but once in a while, i end up not being able to sleep at night--usually it occurs when I have a busy day the next day, so I suppose it is stress or something. This has happened for a lot of years. About 20 years ago, I had to travel two hours to a factory site and teach technical writing on my feet for 9 hours, trying to sound somewhat like I knew what I was talking about, and then driving back home again. I made it, but not a good day. I tried sleeping pills a long time ago, but they gave me nightmares, so I don't take anything any more.

Anyway, doing much better today. Been sorting through some stuff and trying to do some cleaning. I went out only briefly to take the trash out, but wore long pants and long sleeves and put a mosquito net over my head! A few days ago, I went outside at dusk, which I should know better not to do, and got a head full of mosquito bites on my neck, face, and head. I wish my hair were thicker to at least protect it, but I now have about 6 bites on my scalp, not including the 2 on my left ear!!! Maybe a wig instead of my mosquito net so I don't look so much like a silly explorer??? I have no idea why bugs like me so much.

Anyway, enough of my whining. I am heading tomorrow to Grayton Beach SP on the Florida Gulf in the panhandle, so hopefully the breezes will help. Cleaned out my refrig, washed the shelves, and have a long list of groceries needed. I need to focus more on healthy things and less on junk food. I also need to do a better job of eating on driving days instead of skipping food and being so hungry at night.

Well, I tried...
I checked Google for Urgent Cares around here last night. One near here doesn't take my insurance, one isn't open on weekends, but found one about 15 miles from me that opens at 9am, so I got up and drove out there. Nope. They are no longer in business! So I stopped and got a chocolate covered donut (that cures everything  ), and since I was in the area, I went to my church for the 10am service. I am getting disenchanted with this church lately. The new minister is very much into the science part of spirituality and talks a lot about Quantum Physics. I am totally lost on all that. :?

I got home in time to do two haircuts on my friends, Debbie and Dave. Afterward, I talked to a neighbor across the street who just came back from Washington for the season. I met her and her husband a couple years ago (pre-Covid). Very nice people. I am giving her a haircut tomorrow after work. She told me I can use their golf cart any time I need/want it and gave me an extra key for it! Her husband had a stroke just before they left here when Covid started. He is doing much better now.

My finger is much better now. No swelling, pain or redness at all now. The last tetanus shot I got was before moving to Phoenix about 5+ years ago. I got the combo one, the TDAP, I think. It covers whooping cough, which was a thing back then in AZ and CA, and since I was working around kids, it was a concern for me.

The park is having a yard sale on November 12th. I will have to see if I have enough stuff ready for that one. Otherwise, I can wait for the next one on Dec 3rd. They are having one every month this winter, I think because there are so many new owners here now, and when you buy a place here, it comes completely furnished, so most new owners want to get rid of that stuff and get new stuff. Lots of remodeling going on around here too. Just found out that you need a permit to get a new HVAC system installed. Well, no one told me that last year when I got mine and nothing was said about it afterward. Maybe it is a new requirement.

Haven't heard anything about this season's putters league. I can't be in it since I am working days now but I have all the scores from last year's players that they will need to figure out handicaps for this year. I will have to see if I can contact someone who was in charge the year before.

Apple Crisp, cheesecake, and pie! Oh my!! I haven't made my apple crisp for years. It is SO yummy! :D Maybe I need to make some soon!!

It sure doesn't feel like Halloween today. I don't even have any chocolate around here to eat!

Shirl, glad you didn't get too flooded where you are. Maybe you need to get a kayak!

Carol, always something! Hope you get to Mazatlan soon and can get settled in there for the winter without any other issues.

I will try to remember "rabbits" tonight or tomorrow morning. I should be fast asleep by midnight tonight since I have to get up before 6am tomorrow.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Anita, my sister said her son got sick after his Moderna shot and missed some work. She thinks that since she had covid she doesn't need a shot. Just hope she doesn't catch it again.

It looks like waiting to give Mr P his medicine is working. He didn't throw up today. And Sugar's cat showed up for supper. They just want me to worry.

I had a tetanus shot and some other shot the health unit recommended when we were cleaning up from the hurricane in 2005.

There are so many urgent care places around here but the few times I have been to one with my son they are just about useless. The local hospital has opened 2, one behind the hospital and one at a town 5 miles away. There must be a lot of money in telling people that they can't help them.

I bought Sketcher's yesterday can't tell you how often I've seen ads for them since
I posted Friday night then immediately went to play a game...came back before I left internet for the night and I wasn't there can only guess that someone posted at the same time as I did and I wasn't there to catch it... then yesterday went to Idaho Falls didn't get home till after 11 I didn't even come into the living room.. was so tired and still stayed up till way late.. you would think I would resist the temptation of FB and those drama things or two chapters in a book I'd not even opened .. but no so it was way late as normal hopefully tonight after midnight I will say RABBITS can use it...
no nap today by the time I read scriptures watched a pod cast and talked with the daughter was time to go see mom... was so stressed Friday I took a bill to send off for mom was going to [it a return label on it and stamp drop it off at the post office. but forgot was meeting dd in Wilson to go over to Idaho Falls it saved her a bit of a drive... hate actually leaving the car there maybe if it was mine but it was there when we got back to it... ;)
don't know how mom's day was yesterday but today it wasn't as good as Friday I don't think it's so hard to judge... we have sorta a goal of her being discharged on Weds. that is if we get all of our "ducks in a row" need to call my brother tomorrow see what in deed his plans are.. I did talk with my eldest see if she is ok with my visiting her for a couple of weeks need to be back probably after Thanksgiving so I can get some stuff done... I took some stuff out of the trailer I wanted my books in hopes I think that I will get some of them read more there than I remembered not reading quite as much as I did at home tv is a distracter  but at home I would read a book on the couch then go to bed and read another book in bed so now I've only got one going at a time... :? if we are on the same page brother will take mom to his home and then bring her back down when they take niece to SLC in early Dec around the 7th I think then I will have her until in Jan... what I am hoping for is that perhaps I can work it out that I can go to Q for 2-3 months if brother doesn't mind keeping her for a few... we will see however I found out that my granddaughter is in a musical in Feb but think I will drive back up for it if in deed I did get to go down if not then I will work it out so that I can go down for the musical ... she is also going to be in a play end of Nov... plays 9 characters lots of lines so one of the plus for not going it's her senior year and haven't seen her in but a few plays.. maybe one or two... so happy that I can see them... or at least hope to..
as to Hallmark guess what it is on.... and on Christmas but it's not on as much as when mom is here I get to see what I want to and fill in areas that I don't have something I want to see either with hallmark if it's a 2 hour block if not then perhaps it will be can't think of the name of it darn but can't help but wonder what happened to Stabler??? or I watch who done it on ID can really get caught up in it ... and have to wonder about how they come up with a sentence like today a 16 year old stabbed 63 times and died he when caught years later only got 20 years for 2nd degree seems so low of a sentence and out soon early... just don't understand that at all but a lot I don't understand
got so frustrated dd told me that my son in law had been putting mail in her bin that was for me like 4 months worth she gave it to me yesterday was so tired and knew I couldn't do anything about it... so didn't open it today it was for the anistiliolgist and from a collection place... so irritated they could have given it too me any time or forwarded it anything but put it in a bin of one who never looks in it... so need to makes calls tomorrow and hopefully I can pay them and explain and they will call off the collection people so irritated!!!!
well you all have a great day
