Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Mornin' ladies~~~
I've been reading and keeping up with everyone, but it's been a busy week and my brain is all over the place lately.

Glad you had some nice time outside Shirl and had a chance to meet your neighbor and pup. Martha hope giving Mr P medicine is easy. I was going to suggest liquid meds, so hopefully he won't fight to much. Beth hopefully you will be on the road as planned with good weather.
I have no comment on air fryers since I rarely cook. But I should eat a bit healthier, yea, that's not gonna happen. Gram always said something gotta kill you, so you might as well enjoy what you eat. lol

Good thing I already knew I would be off the road when Dad passed. I make a run to Goodwill every day except on weekends, but it doesn't look like I've done anything! So far at least all the clothes are gone as well kitchen things. But the house looks like a tornado hit it. I find something that I need to look through 'later', so there are piles everywhere.

This week I had to get some of my own things accomplished. Trailer was winterized on Monday and went to the inside storage place yesterday. Met Tuesday with the financial guys that Dad and I use. And Wednesday was a meeting with Dad's lawyer. While selling my house and hitting the road, I was in an easy legal and financial situation, but now things are complicated. Three trusts are involved! I'm still planning on living on my pension (no SS taken yet), and my small estate will remain with charitable donations. Trouble is now I have to figure out what to do with what I've inherited, when I don't have heirs. Right now I'm thinking of my cousins children because I remember being in my 20s and 30s, paying for college myself and trying to save to buy a home.

The only things decided so far is Dad's condo in FL will be sold at some point and the house here in Illinois will be sold too. I thought about keeping it, but although it perfect for aging in place, and is structurally and mechanically sound, estimates are over $200K to update it with AC, etc.

OK I'm rambling on and on and on, but you get the idea. Have a good day ladies.

Good morning, having my first cup of coffee after taking Emma out and feeding her. No rain right now and it actually feels good outside at 53 with a breeze. High will be 58. Supposed to get some rain showers today but we shall see. Have a few things on my chore list for today, dinner is planned so I just might have one of "those" days. Works for me.

Have to head south to Medford on Wednesday for my eye doc appts. But will come back on Friday. Then have to head back down 10 days later for my Rheumatologist appt. But will stay a bit longer to visit with my friend and see who else we can visit. There are no specialists here in Roseburg so I either have to head an hour north to Eugene, or south 1 1/2 hrs to Medford. I like my docs in Medford AND I have a great place to stay so would rather go south. And I would have to drive to Eugene 2 days in a row, this way I can just drive and stay for the couple of days I need to.

I cleaned out my walk in closet in my bedroom yesterday and now I need to make a donation run. I got quite a few clothes after the fire that people gave me and I had lots of winter clothes in my storage unit that survived. BUT some either dont fit, or dont like them anymore so off they go.

Cheryl hope you will get everything sorted out both stuff wise and legal wise soon. But if you are stuck there for now just take your time it will all work out. I bought more beets the other day so will put them in my Instant Pot then will skin and cut them up for dinner. I am trying to eat out of my freezer before the stuff gets too old. So cube steak and beets for dinner. The problem in my freezer is I have lots of frozen "goodies" in there and since I am on hiatus from goodies I have to work around them ha ha

Cheryl, I hope your legal stuff goes smoother than mine did. I don't know what was wrong with my lawyer. They dropped the ball when they didn't send me the Judgment of Possession for over a year and never told me what I should be doing. I think I have everything fixed except one of the Sugar Mills. Harold had a very small interest in some land where someone is growing sugar cane. They sent two $10 checks in his name. I have been putting off calling them. I think I'll just send the checks back with a copy of the letter I sent in June. I hope I don't have to go through the Dept of Agriculture like I had to in this parish. I'm not even sure which parish the land is in.

I need to clean out my closet because it's a fight to hang anything up. I need to throw away the shirts I keep wearing but won't go to town in. Every time I put one on I think I'll throw it away instead of washing it again.

Mr. P did not like his morning medicine. He was foaming at the mouth. I will have to feed him first and give that medicine later so he will eat.

I think I will go mow in Maurice this afternoon because there is a chance of rain tomorrow. I finally finished the chicken and brisket. I think I'll make the crawfish and artichoke bisque. The recipe makes a lot so will have to freeze some.

I don't know where our fall weather is. It was 95 yesterday.

Morning all. Cheryl, sounds like you are making some progress, slow but sure. I was fortunate, living with my dad, that we took steps to make sure everything was in order for a smooth transition for which either of us passed before the other. The house was in my name and all accounts were in joint or had Transfer on death in place. I just had to do a short probate due to oil and gas well royalties, but that was all. I know well, that “what to do with my finances etc” after I’m gone, being an only child as well. I have no family other than cousins, and we are all getting older too, plus not that close. I don’t know any of their kids etc. so decided our Community Foundation here would be the best way to go. They do an excellent job of disbursing funds to whom ever you designate to receive them. Some choose scholarships, some choose charities, some choose conservation type organizations, some The arts, some cancer centers and hospitals, local causes, areas of greatest needs, whatever you wish to support. You can do more than one. You name the Foundation as your beneficiary and the amount of your estate you are giving them in your will or trust. The money is invested so it will continue to grow and allow a certain amount to be paid out each year. Ours is called a Legacy fund and we can put any name we wish on it. In effect you are leaving a living legacy behind. They did an outstanding job of helping this community during the pandemic last year. They are great.

Karen, was just thinking the other day, that it’s about time for your trip to Medford. Beth, hoping for good traveling weather for you. Shelia, hope your family steps up to the plate so you don’t wind up being the only one taking care of mom. Martha, glad Mr. P is doing well. Barbie, love your Halloween gourd. Shirl, nice way to meet your neighbor. Glad you are enjoying sone nice weather too.

Fall definitely arrived here on Thursday afternoon. Highs are only in the 40’s and lows in low 30’s. Been a little frosty but not much due to cloud cover at night or early morning hours. Wet snow has been sighted as well. I didn’t see any right here, but some in the area did. Nothing unusual for this time of year. I’m loving this weather. Flannel shirts and wzrm jacket time.

My foot is much improved. Still a little swelling and achy, but no big deal. I can wear my regular shoes now and also boots. Taki g dogs for daily walks now.

But today is woodcraft time. Ordered some Thanksgiving and Christmas patterns and am heading to the garage to trace the outline and cut them out of the plywood I picked up the other day. Then will bring cutouts in the house, put primer on, trace the full pattern on and start painting. Plan is to put them out a sub entrance as am removing the fall decorations after next weekend. Also will decorate my ladder and bench by the garage. So guess I had better get moving as morning is almost over.

Morning All, cloudy and cool this morning. Still trying to come up with something interesting to do today. Skimming headlines on the IPad doesn’t do much for my mental attitude. No wonder I search for recipes. :) Waiting for a package delivery today. Deliveries just recently being handled by Amazon drivers. Their tracking shows a picture of package sitting on the porch. I have mentioned before how I hate this gas stove. The smallest burner goes from almost invisible flame to hot as he*#+. Expecting a new small fry pan since my old one went in the trash. Doesn’t take much to make me happy, new fry pan and cute pjs. :) Be safe

Can I make a suggestion for what to do with your money after you are gone? One really needy group is foster children who age out of the system. These kids, through no fault of their own, end up without permanent families. Once they turn 18, in almost all states, they must leave their foster families and set up housekeeping on their own. They can go on welfare and get small scholarships for college, but mostly, they just go out and get a job and try to support themselves.

When I worked for a company in the 90s, one of the things we did at Christmas was choose a foster child to buy gifts for. We would be entirely responsible for picking three items from a list of six the kids would give us. (We could choose more than three, but had to wrap them as three so each kid got an equivalent.) We never knew more than their age, sex, sizes, and general reason for going into foster care--often it would be abuse or neglect. I often chose an older kid, and the lists were often quite sad. These are not kids who asked for electronics--mostly the ones close to age 18 would ask for sheets and towels and kitchen things to start their solo lives. A few would ask for winter coats and clothing, as well. I remember buying dishes, silverware, etc. for these kids. Often, I would tuck in some candies or nuts.

I don't know which charity handles these kids, but "aged out" foster kids really are needy. They might get a college scholarship or a federal loan, but it often does not pay for everything and seldom will pay for living expenses. It would be nice to see a trust set up for these young people in your local area for needed items and possibly college expenses.

I got sleepy early last night and was in bed by 10pm! (why can't I do that during the week?). Slept til 9am this morning.

I did a haircut on another lady here in the park yesterday evening. She and her husband are really nice. They full-time in their RV but spend the winters here for several months. I gave my card to the lady next door to them who came over to ask about getting a haircut. Looks like I will be busy this winter!

Went to feed the kittens last night but never did see them. I put food in the bowls and then sat quiet on the deck of my neighbors house and waited until dark but they probably wait until after dark to come out.

It was cool overnight but no wind so I put a fan in the window to pull some of the cool air inside. Was very comfortable all night.

Need to get busy today with finishing up the deck area that still has some misc stuff left over from when I was cleaning out the porch. Since I cleaned up the porch, Lola has no interest in going out there now. Go figure!

Have a good day!

Will be cloudy here off and on today, rain tomorrow, heavy at times, they say. I put off my treadmill yesterday, so will jump on their shortly and listen to a podcast. Will gather another load for Goodwill, then spend time watercolor stamping and painting. Handyman got a lot done this week. New LED lights up in my room. Bark spread in several areas in yard, plus work on 2 rear decks that needed a replaced rail and sand and seal. When I have his attention, he gets a lot done. Amd we have an established list, so I don't have to follow him around, he decides and gets busy. Other than yard, which will be ongoing, most of the big projects outside are almost done, so now, room by room, we will be repairing and updating inside. Little things, that, when done, make me happy. My most anticipated one, is, my sunroom on east side, facing morning sun. Mel just never finished it, in 30 years. It's insulated and sheet rocked and wired, but never completed taping and texturing nor trim around windows or ceiling fan installed, and floor is painted plywood. Sean will do all of that finishing, and install flooring of my choice and I will move table and chairs in that I've dreamed of sitting at in morning as I drink a cup of tea, looking out over my property.
That covers my weekend. Tonight I'm making clam chowder. Canned clams, as we don't get fresh in stores here, though we are only about 100 miles from the ocean. Found a recipe last year that we enjoyed, which starts with sautéed bacon! Can't go wrong if it has bacon, right?! Soup sounds good on a chilly rainy night.
Have a good weekend everyone. Judy, I love the idea of Supportimg those foster kids as they age out, but setting up and administration of a trust is expensive and would burn up funds. I think it would be better to find a established church or community based charity already set up to funnel funds through, so they pay the admin and maintenance fees and more of your money actually gets where you want it to go.

same ole same ole
although I think mom ate better she had tortellini with meat balls and complained that there wasn't enough meatballs...
that is a good complaint I think and she did eat them all... which is a plus
should have gone to the store but didn't so guess I will have to do it on Monday am going to need milk bread and whatever else sounds good... decided that a peanut butter sandwich would taste good remembered seeing a jar in the cupboard so drug it out noticed it was out of date but oh well while eating it thought it just taste not right decided after burping it up a few times that it tasted rancid so when I got home I tossed it away... another jar in cupboard has a good date on it and never been open it's crunchy which is not my favorite... but at least it won't taste funky
did get a piece of chicken out of the freezer not sure what I will do with it.... that is if it's thawed out enough... there is noodles and Alfredo sauce problem is that it's way too much for me... and tomorrow is my 51 wedding anniversary maybe I'll eat in the hospital with mom will see about that...
so settled in to Christmas movies one I wanted to watch it came on at the same time as 48 hours which is what I wanted to watch but I choose the movie...
now it's ID
you all have a great day

Sheila, I ate some outdated peanut butter once and got terrible food poisoning from it! I was really sick (in the bathroom) for 24 hours straight! I always check the dates now.
