Let's start our day with a good morning here.

And Now It’s Saturday

Postby Colliemom » Sat Oct 16, 2021 8:26 am

Happy Saturday all. Woke up this morning to a much less swollen foot and my normal walk is stsrting to come back, but, I am going to continue to baby it for a couple more days, walk around the house, exercise it etc., I feel that by Monday, I will probably be able to drive again :D As much as I would like to get outside and do some stuff, I’m not gonna do it. I think we are supposed to have some Lake effect rain showers on and off anyway. But I am going to run the vacuum in the house and change my bed today. Velda, thanks for the explanation on the x-rays and hairline fractures.

Interesting how some like beets and others don’t. I loved beets as a kid. Mom never had to worry about me not eating them when I was young. But for some reason, I don’t eat them anymore and there realltvisn’t a reason for it. Just out of tbe habit I guess. I never cared for Pickled Baloney though, but my dad did. And yes, it’s still around. Kogel is a big name here in MI, their hot dogs are very popular.

Closing on the lot went smoothly yesterday, so that’s done. In fact, the lady that conducted the closing was the same one who did it for me when I sold my house and bought this one that I currently have. She was working for a different title company at that time but got laid off on that job because I think the title company is no longer here. So we had a nice time chatting for a little bit. She is really good and extremely efficient at her job. Now neighbors can start toward their dream of anew house on a much more tree shaded lot away from the expressway too. They won’t be building till next year, but I think they are going to get the lot cleared yet this fall before the weather changes. They also are getting their house ready to go on the market soon.

I mentioned yesterday about my neighbors taking me under their wing, they sure did yesterday. The one couple who have been doing a lot of things for me, took my can of recycles up to the bins and got rid of that for me and he cleaned up the leaves in my front yard yesterday. Another neighbor down the way bought me some chili and fresh homemade bread, the neighbor who did my leaves texted me around supper time to say They were making BLT’s and would I like one, which I passed on, cause I had the chili. But to top it off, neighbors across the street were having dinner at their house with his brother and wife who live across the little lagoon here from them, and the ladies sent the guys over with a big plate of chicken, mashed potatoes and corn, some French bread and another plate with 3 big pieces of carrot cake :D I’m so blessed to have great neighbors, I made French toast with the bread this morning along with some sausage and Michigan Maple syrup. Saved the chicken dinner for tonight’s supper. Getting spoiled here. Not going to want to go back to cooking

I guess I should get up and move around a little bit here. Going to hop in the shower and then do a couple of things for a bit and then sit down and rest the foot for a bit etc. You all have a nice day out there.

Good morning ladies. I’ve had a crazy October so far so hoping it all slows down and maybe have a better end of the month. I’ve been at least reading everyone’s posts but just commented to myself. I took a run away day yesterday and wandered through the countryside and managed to find sunshine and summer like temps! Pretty crazy for the middle of October! Today is change day with rain and much lower temps. It was amazing how green everything was still was. Even the mountains are still green with a bit of yellow here and there. Poor trees are all confused. When I left yesterday my driveway only had a few leaves on it and by the time I got home it was covered again so I know what I’ll be doing after the rain stops and it dries out some. Today I need to take advantage of an inside day and get some work done inside. Never ending but needs to be done. I mowed the other day so again wondering if that’s the last time for the season. Crazy to be mowing and raking leaves all in the same day!
Goodness, so much going on with everyone here. Sue, hope you can get back to being outside doing your thing. Glad your closing went smoothly. And great to have neighbors like you do. Judy, good that your bloodwork was good. I’m still working on mine and need to have more tests done the end of the month so will see then if the changes I’ve made with my diet has helped bring the numbers up like I hope. Interesting conversation about beets yesterday! I, for one, love them. And especially like “purple eggs”. There pretty common around here and I even make them sometimes. Not something I grew up with but have developed a taste for them since living in this part of the country.
Barbie, good that you get full time hours where you work. I look forward to following Carol and Bill on their trip to Mexico. I got my booster last week so now have that plus the flu shot taken care of. Luckily, other then a sore arm I didn’t have to any reaction to either one of them. But still being careful where I go and when I go. Still not comfortable in any crowded areas. So that about catches me up! Seems several of us have been dealing with aging parents. I lost my aunt last week and realized there is only one more aunt remaining of that generation which puts my sister, cousins and myself into the older generation now! A sobering thought! So with that I hope everyone has a great weekend!

We had a front come through last night and it got down to 63 and it's only 64 now. My neighbor was bringing me to get the truck in town so I put on a long sleeve shirt. When I got back I had to change. I was sweating. I think I will have to continue to wear summer clothes with a jacket. My house is well insulated and it never got below 75 and I don't have the heat on.

I have a friend that is at a pet adoption event in town with a foster dog. I think I'll go visit with her and see the pets. No adoptions for me. I should bring a cat. lol My cats all seem to be happy with their life on the farm. I'll see if my son wants me to go shopping for him. He hurt his foot and ankle so isn't getting around too well. His doctor's appointment is Tuesday so hope he finds out something.

I looked up where beets are grown and they grow in the Northern states. I will probably never see fresh beets for sale here.

Good morning. Kind of a chilly morning here 42 but will warm up to 73 this afternoon so definitely need to layer my clothes. Been making out my to=do list for this coming week. Nothing huge on it but just some things I NEED to take care of. Doing some kitchen prep today. Been doing well eating the right things, I weighed early (supposed to be Monday) and I have lost 4lbs. Now I am not lulled into a false sense of accomplishment as I know you can lose up to 5lbs the first week. But I am encouraged ha ha Sunday is my cheat day so not sure what I want yet. Nothing fast food. I dont eat much fast food anyway or lots of processed foods. I enjoy cooking, just nothing fancy, has to be basic. I will weigh every Monday but not sure if I should after cheat day Sunday LOL No, I am not going to go crazy, just one meal that is higher than normal, I am thinking chicken, mushroom fettuccini alfredo. We shall see.

Martha I wouldnt dare go to a pet adoption, I am just sure I would come home with something. No bueno. Barbie congrats on you working full time and at your place of choice. Bill and Carol getting ready to head to Mexico, wish I was going with them.
I am actually not going anywhere ha ha only in my mind and online. I have plenty here to keep me busy. Dont need to head south for my Doc appts until the 26th.

I dont care much for baloney so I am pretty sure I wouldnt like the pickled kind LOL I have had a fried baloney sandwich and I dont mind it that way. My problem is I am not picky about "normal" foods. I pretty much eat anything. Like some things better than others but over all there is only 1 food that just cannot pass my lips......cottage cheese. I never use it even in a recipe because I can taste those little curds in my mouth LOL I like Ricotta cheese in my recipes in place of cottage cheese ha ha ha Okay I seem a bit food oriented lately so time to get to work.

I got up fairly early this morning to do a haircut on a lady in the park here. Her dad lives here and her brother and SIL just bought a place here. She lives in Oregon and is just renting here for now. We got along really well and chatted for about 3 hours!
I have another haircut to do on Tuesday after work on a lady here who is also renting a pad with their RV.

I got ant bait for the itty bitty ants in my kitchen. I put a couple outside and one near my sink. I realized that there is a gap between the hole in the bait container and the countertop and with them being so tiny, I figured they needed a ramp to get up to it, so I used a toothpick as a ramp and they were using that all day!

I ran some errands, got air in my tires (they were all low) and stopped at the Great Clips at WM to say hi to my old manager and buy some shampoo. Got out of WM for less than $9 !!! :o

Been lazy the rest of the day tho. Just reading and napping.

I looked at my paycheck from last week and with commissions on my work, I am making almost $18 per hour. I should be getting almost an additional $1000 per month take-home pay now. That will really help a lot! Need to pay taxes and registrations (car and house) soon.

Lola seems to not be feeling too good the past couple days. Need to watch her for a bit :( She is pushing 18 years old now.

It was quite a bit warmer today, low 90's, so had to turn on the AC in the house and the car.

Tomorrow, I need to get up early and clean up the rest of the stuff on the deck. Just misc left-over stuff from last weekend. Hopefully, I can finish my gourd project too. I worked on that a little today.

Sue, can your neighbors send me some food too? Sounds so good! I need neighbors like that!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Root veggies grow well up in the north even here in Wy
today mom no longer has the catheter in so now after a week plus of not having to get up to go she has to remember to give the nurses a call and they so need to respond quickly... so far it's been ok but....
she walked to the bathroom and had a shower... they have her sit up in a chair for her meals but the CNA that put her in the chair didn't get her sat back in her chair... not sure how to achieve that better... she is just so short... and the area's are so confined but she is doing so much better still hurts but the level is down to 4-5 I am getting really irritated with family members though... I went to check her phone to see if it needed charging I had charged it on Friday it was still fully charged... so no one has called her... about to the point of telling them you want an update call her!!!!
I text my brother and told him that mom said she hadn't gotten her property tax statement he had looked for it last weekend saying that it should have come so finally asked mom and that is what she said... he text me last night that it had been paid by someone... who knows who and I may have said something about this in the post last night don't recall timing... I should have reread my post
Glad Sue that you foot is getting back to normal and Barbie so glad that you are able to be on full time now knew there was something I wanted to comment other than what I did and that was one of the things...
I am sure that there are other things that I should have as well... sure have had the munchies... not sure why...
had hoped to go see the new baby tomorrow but haven't heard from dd to tell me if she is going to come get me...
so guessing not although she has bought a digital frame one of those that people can use the link and up load new pictures to it so would think that she is planning on bringing it to me ... then to get it hooked up so that mom can see it and it can do what it needs too... really tough when the only one that can go into see her is the least tech people in the family...
I turned on the tv last night thinking it was 12 it was only 11 still didn't turn on the light until after 3 :o
you all have a great day

Sheila, can they put a little cushion or pillow on the chair behind your mom so she can sit back on that?
