Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Martha, most of that cost is probably shipping. A jar like the one Amazon shows should cost about $10 or a little more in a grocery store! If you ever get to Michigan, especially "Up North" Michigan, go into a local grocery store and look for the jars sitting on top of the meat counter! Should be easy to make however, just get some ring baloney and add a vinegar and water mixture, plus some pickling spices.

Also, a screen dryer vent cover might be dangerous because lint would stick there and might be a fire hazard. You would have to clean it out weekly. One of my cousins had a vent fire in her laundry room about 15 years ago, and it really smoked up her house. Luckily, no structural damage, but had to repaint the entire inside and replace some furniture.

And, birds certainly can be dumb. I had one that kept trying to build a nest under my porch in my old condo. She was a terrible nest builder, however, and more sticks would end up on the porch than in the nest. And every year, it would eventually fall down, with or without eggs in it. But every year, the same bird would be back to try again!!

Good afternoon. You all made me laugh with your nay and yay beet stories LOL I have had pickled beets with whole eggs in the jar before. Also my grandmother used to make pickled eggs but I dont remember being too keen on them, and I love eggs but guess I ate them. Martha I dont know how to describe the taste of beets LOL I like to buy them fresh, eat them when they are hot with butter and salt. I prefer to cook them in my Instant Pot as steaming retains most of the vitamins and nutrients. BJ I have never roasted them as I like how easy they are to peel when they come out of the Instant Pot. They are super good for you too. I buy them in a can also to put on my salads (sorry Anne).

Fiber: Beets are high in fiber. Fiber can help you control blood sugar levels, maintain a healthy weight, lower cholesterol and stay regular. Nitrates: “Beets contain nitrates, which help widen blood vessels,” That can help with blood pressure and may also improve athletic performance and brain function.
“They're definitely a superfood.” Rich in antioxidants and calcium, iron, magnesium, and fiber they have a high concentration of vitamins A and C
Beets are a root vegetable with many health benefits. They are packed with vitamins and nutrients like vitamin C, fiber, and potassium. And eating beets can increase your energy level, boost your brain power, and improve your immune system.

Carol have a safe trip to Mexico. I miss Mexico very much but since my life has changed so much no more Bucerias monthly stays. I may get there one day again. Martha BBQ sounds really good and we have a decent little BBQ stand here in town and I also bought a pack of ribs to be cooked at a later date. Right now watching my calories so keeping things simple. Small cube steak and cauliflower for dinner. Sunday will be my treat day and I will have whatever I want within reason. I have a treat day every week. Keeps me on track.

Karen, I think everyday must be treat day for me. lol I had part of the BBQ for lunch and a brisket sandwich for supper. Out of leftovers so on to something else tomorrow. I like pickled beets, just seldom think about having some. Sometimes they are a side at the deli and I will get them then. Around here some stores sell pickled quail eggs. Harold would buy them all the time. At the last campout someone had made deviled eggs out of pickled quail eggs. That looked like a lot of work to me.

I went and paid for the truck and picked up the keys. I will have to find a ride tomorrow to go pick it up. They said they drove the truck several times and the warning light cleared itself. They think it was bad gas. I thought that it might be since all the gas stations were out of gas so often after the hurricane. It probably stirred up all the trash in the tanks.

OMG, Barbie. I have always despised beets - even the smell of them makes me feel like I want to erp.

  The smell of beets always reminded me of the smell of seaweed in our lakes during "dog days" when the humidity was high and the weeds were taking over the lake in August. Ugh!!
I feel the same way about spinach and sauerkraut! I guess to each their own! :D

Well, GREAT NEWS!!! My boss said I can work full-time now! Yay!!! I will be working 7am to 3:30pm from now on. So I need to quickly get in the habit of going to bed by 10pm!

Also got a text message from another lady in the park wanting a haircut. Will fit that in this weekend sometime.

Found ants in my kitchen this morning! :o They are so teensy weensy tho that I thought they were a tiny beetle but I took a close up photo of them and when I zoomed in on the photo, they are actually minuscule ants! So on the way home from work, I picked up some Terro Ant Bait. My neighbor was having issues with them a week or so ago, so I should have known they would soon pay me a visit too. Probably came thru my kitchen window. The screen doesn't fit real tight, altho as small as they are, they can probably fit right thru the screen!

Lola is loving being out on the porch again. Now she can actually spread out on the rug out there and lay in the sunshine!

Have a good night
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

got to the hospital and mom was sitting up in the chair... PT was still there told me that she walked to the door and back again... good job MOM!!! I notice that she is getting around in the bed better at least getting out of the bed... until yesterday she hadn't had a BM then guess she had a big mess today before I got there so glad I was running late... and then again so guess she is making up for lost time... :?
going to have a meeting next week with the PT and whoever else mom and myself as well as brother via phone.... He will be in Utah with dd as she has some tests next week I am hoping that the thought will be that if she continues as she has been she will be projected to leave in a week or so after meeting... not sure what to do my dd asked who would visit her if I leave soon so made me feel guilty then I found out that my sil that is going to drive me down can only go every other weekend so the next one I won't be ready for and the next one after that will be around the 6 th of Nov... basically would go down and set up and drive back a few days later cause of his schedule wouldn't be able to leave after that till mid Nov... I hope he doesn't think that 4 days is going to be long enough to drive down and back up yes in a car he could but towing and it's almost a 1000 miles according to google which I am willing to bet they checked it's 904 miles and only 13 hours away that one doesn't make since at all... it's 4 to SLC + 4 to Saint George + 2 to Vegas + 4 to Q well not to different just it takes me 3 days and at least 2 nights from Ogden so 4 and 3 if I don't dally in Utah... he did hook up the 5th wheel to make sure clearance was good...
I like beets but forget that I like them and so don't get them often although if in a salad bar and they are there will put them on my salad... bet there is a jar of pickled beets in the trailer's fridge unless someone took them out... when you roast them do you take off the skin first? had a salad one time way back when that had raw beets in it totally different and was so very good...
Sue glad that the foot is doing better... or will be I've heard that a bad sprain can be actually worse than a break...
wow a Murder She Wrote I don't remember so unusual
I wish I could get warmed up it's supposed to warm up but will see if it does... there is a thing going around FB targeting different areas that is so true talks about first fall followed by first winter followed by second fall and on actually quite true
hmm pickled bologna not sure about that but then I am not sure I like picked boiled eggs either and to devil quail eggs that really sounds so time consuming
I guess I need to go lock up the house
you all have a good day

Barbie, great news about getting full-time where you are. Judy, I'm not a bologna fan so I'm not interested lol. For those discussing beets, I'm okay with them but don't search them out. Funny how we all have such different tastes. I'm enjoying reading all about the bologna and beets, though.

Sheila, more good news on your mom!

I love all the posts today but know I've forgotten things I wanted to respond to.

Work's been busy yesterday and today. My feet and back were killing me yesterday. Today feet were better and back marginally better, so I'm looking forward to tomorrow being easier. I've been wearing different shoes (been too cold for my Crocs sandals). Those sandals support my feet better than the expensive shoes. Today I put in my good arch support into these shoes that I supposedly shouldn't need them in, and big difference. Helped feet and back. And after work I changed to my sandals .. temps weren't as bad this afternoon. We actually got back into the 50's. Yay.

Shirl, it could even be on a hinge at top and metal should be impossible for birds to lift, but could be raised for inspection and or cleaning.
