Not So Sunny Sunday Morning

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Not So Sunny Sunday Morning

Postby Colliemom » Sun Oct 10, 2021 8:32 am

Morning everyone. Day 3 of trying to stay off my foot. It’s still swollen but doesn’t hurt as much. To compound matters, my knee is out of place a bit now too  I’ve had that happen before. So tomorrow morning, will call my Chiro and get up there to see where we go from here. I think we need an ex ray, but will see what she says. She’s the bone doc. I really need a different Walker, one of those you can keep your knee on and not walk on the foot.

Tina, you had quite the adventure there, but nice of the gentlemen to figure it out despite the weather and get you on the road. BJ, sorry about the vehicle breaks. Fortunately my truck has a garage and I live in a zero crime area. People leave stuff out all the time. Cars, trucks, landscaping, boat, jet ski and travel trailers and nobody bothers them. We have a neighborhood crime watch in this sub and signs posted as such too.

Peggy, hope you get to MX this winter, although last I heard the border was closed, but I don’t pay that much attention really.

We are in peak fall color now and unfortunately I can’t drive right now with my foot, so guess I will have to pass on it this year. Although there is a ton of fall color all over the ground in my yard right now

Nothing else new here,so guess I’ll get cleaned up a bit. Took a sponge bath yesterday, ad I’m a little leery of doing the shower with a bum foot. My kitchen is a disaster area and house needs a good vacuming. Might have to hire a housecleaning service  Now if there was such a thing as a riding vacum  I need a robot to do the dishes. Naw, I’ll get on them today. Can sit in a chair at the sink. Actually, maybe I should use my wheeled office chair or maybe not. Decisions, decisions.

Good morning Sue. Could you put a waterproof chair or stool in the shower to sit on? Hope your knee is OK. My wrist hurts today from the work I did yesterday. Should have wore my wrist brace overnight. Don't want to wear it today while working in the dusty mess since it will get dirty. Will just have to be careful with it. Like they say, getting old isn't for sissies!

Just laying here with Lola trying to get motivated to get up and start working before it starts getting hot out. Sunny but not much breeze. Cooled off the house nicely overnight anyways.

Have a good day no matter what challenges you are dealing with! :D

It is cold and rainy here today also. Got my electric throw out and the dog is curled up in the recliner beside me. Might just stay here today. Got my dark chocolate hot chocolate K-cups delivered yesterday...perfect timing. Since I lost my Nuwave Oven in the fire I wasnt going to replace it but saw one on Marketplace for $40 so I jumped on it as they are over $200 now. This one is brand new still in the box so I was pretty happy. NuWave Pro Plus, just like my old one I got for $99 when they first came out I use my Air Fryer the most but this is good for larger volumes of stuff and for roasting a chicken. I might have forgotten how to do some things but it came with all the documentation and a dvd LOL Then there is always Youtube.

Good grief Sue you must have really buggered that foot up. And now your knee hope you can get if to healing soon. Yup you need one of those walkers that your knee rests on. At least for a while. Barbie is a cleaning dynamo LOL I cut down my tomato plants yesterday and still need to cut up the squash plant then my garden will be put to rest ha ha

Think I will just loll around today, yup that sounds good.

Not so cool here today! Was only out on the deck for about 20 minutes and had to come in to cool off! Even had my giant fan out there blowing on me! Deck is cleaned off. Found about 12 cat dishes out there! Why does someone with one cat have 12 cat bowls (plus 4 more in the house)???? :? Some of them are needing to get tossed. Will see if my neighbor needs any.

Just watching the church service on YouTube now.

I think I will not get as much done today as I was hoping :( . I will just keep plugging away slowly with lots of cooling breaks...

It is sunny and warm here. It's noon and I never took anything out to cook. I have been in slow motion all morning. My arm bothered me a lot last night and I never would get up and take some Tylenol. I finally got up this morning and took some. I must have gone back to sleep because I don't remember what was on Sunday Morning.

I need to find something to eat so I can go mow. I like to mow in Maurice on Sunday because there isn't as much traffic.

Sue, be careful trying to get around with the sore foot. My son fell. I tried to get him to go to the hospital but he is so hard headed. I wonder where he gets that. He got an appointment with a doctor but it isn't until the 19th. He needs one of the things you can put your knee on. He was using an office chair to get around on until I brought him the walker. I had bought one of the walkers with a seat and big wheels for Harold and he never got to use it. That will help him get around better.

Barbie, you sound like me with all the cat bowls. I haven't counted the ones on the carport but probably at least 10. I was missing one that the raccoons probably tried to carry off. My sister said I would find it when I mowed and I did. I ran over it.

Hi all,

Yep, Sheila, Sadie will stay at my son's house while I'm gone. They have 2 dogs too. The first 5 minutes are chaos then they settle into a happy co-habitation mode. I typically take her kennel there in case they want to use it - mostly to give her a haven from Jordi & the other dogs. I feel bad that they'll have her over Christmas but I'd rather her be there than somewhere she isn't familar with.
Glad to hear your Mom looks better - sitting up in a chair has got to be better than staying in bed all the time. & Wow! so many birthdays to celebrate!

Tina, what an experience... glad someone helped get you going again. I HATE car trouble & probably wouldn't have handled it as well as you did.

Barbie, you're on a cleaning streak! Want to come to my place for a bit? And glad you're getting to sleep with the windows open at night. I finally turned off the fans that I use to pull in cool air in since it's a little too cool for Jordi inside in the mornings. And yikes on how far you have to drive to work each day.

Sue, hope your foot gets better soon. You're our energizer bunny so this must be especially tough on you.

So sorry about your friend's granddaughter getting bitten, Anita. Hopefully she recovers quickly & the same for your friend. This must be just as traumatic for her as the child.

Lyn, I'm looking for books to read on my 11 hour flight to France so I'll take a look at that one. And yes, there's no place like home...

Well, I've got to take back some things that I bought yesterday & clean out the car, so I'd better get moving.
Take care,
Catherine

My work day is done. Just had lunch. Will walk Ty shortly then time to dump and fill my water tank since the cold temps are about to become the freezing temps. High possibly only 32 on Tuesday :o We won't talk about the lows. By the weekend things should be back a bit better. My furnace will be working overtime.

Sue, I feel for you. You are not at all used to being unable to go go go! Hopefully you can get this managed.

I've had carpal tunnel for years in my right wrist. Now it's also in my left wrist. My right hip has problems and my left ankle. Yep, aging keeps on happening. Luckily it's not stopping me from most things, except doing a lot of the hikes I wouldn't have thought twice about only a few years ago.

Ty must have heard me type that he's due for a walk. He's at the door talking to me lol. I'll be a good Mom.

Sue, when you do decide to take a shower, call someone before and ask them to call 911 if you do not call them back in a set period of time--just in case. I did that when I had my knee replaced.

I have been busy every day for the past week touring different facilities and visiting my aunt. I am worn out from trying to keep her distracted from thinking about my uncle and crying all the time. She keeps forgetting he has died and wants to know where he is and why she can't see him. If she finds out he has passed away, she gets angry that no one has told her this before and asks why she couldn't have seen him before he died. Hard to visit with her. A few days ago, I found a huge down comforter in a big bag in her closet and opened it up to find it full of feces. Could have been there for months. Lied to my aunt and told her I had to take it to cleaners, but really put it in campground dumpsters. Also at the bottom of that big bag, I found two full sets of sheets and some extra pillowcases, so I washed those in the campground with detergent and a little bleach. Folded them up and took them back.

Yesterday, we started to go through her overfull purse, which she hides in a cardboard box in her room. Found 7 pairs of glasses in it! May have been more, but did not make it to bottom of purse. Had her try them all on, and managed to swipe 3 pairs by putting them in my pockets and turning them into front desk when I left. Would have liked to take more but could not. Aunt is very possessive. And she does not remember what her stuff looks like, so she picks things up she thinks are hers. Will be up to other POA to try to do more to get rest of glasses. Might tell caregiver to go through her purse while she is at dinner or in an activity. Who knows how many other pairs of glasses are there???

Had a slight sore throat last night, so did not go to visit again. Tomorrow I return my rental car and Tuesday, I head to Valdosta GA for four days and then to Fort Clinch. Am looking forward to getting going again. Did all I could for aunt, so time for me again. Dumped my tanks today and did three loads of laundry! Also slept in a lot this morning--really needed the sleep.

Beth, I had carpal tunnel surgery about 5 years ago. It took a long time to heal, but between that and the finger on the other hand that I had trigger finger surgery, my hands are in better shape and less painful than they have been in 20 years!!

Judy, my carpal tunnel has never been bad enough to warrant surgery. It was discovered early and I've always been able to control it. It's just frustrating that it's now in both wrists.

Whew! I am beat!! What a long busy dirty day!

I think I have a bigger mess now than when I started! :o I must have made some progress tho since I have a big heap of stuff on the patio to take to the dumpster tomorrow and have about 15 empty plastic bins that formerly had stuff in them. I reorganized the things I am keeping, labeled the full bins, and cleaned bins and plastic drawers as I went thru them. Such a mess of dirt all over everything! :o The deck was nice and cleaned off last night but now it is completely full of empty bins, full bins, and bins of stuff for the thrift store. I started cleaning the porch. Still have my love seat and gourd stuff in there but am working/cleaning around that for now. The window sills and tracks are full of dirt that I am having to brush off, vacuum, and wipe down. No wonder I am having trouble opening and closing those windows! I wish I could just power wash the whole thing in there!

I have 3 bins full of tools, hardware, tape, glue, etc that I will have to go thru again later to get rid of a bunch more of that and organize what is left. I found a bunch of my sewing stuff so once I get my sewing machine out of the storage unit, I can find a new home for all that.

Another long day tomorrow of cleaning the porch and getting it set up the way I want it and putting away the stuff I am keeping, and get rid of the stuff I am not. I knew this was gonna be a long, difficult project which is why I have put it off for so long. It will be nice tho, once it is all done. Will still have my shed and the storage unit to go thru and organize later. The storage unit is only 5' X 5' and barely half full so that won't be too hard altho there is even more dust and dirt in there than here! :o

My wrist is hurting quite a lot today. I did put on a brace for awhile until it got too wet and dirty. I also wore my knee brace, so I must have looked like a sad case to the neighbors! Will wear a better wrist brace to bed tonight with some CBD balm rubbed on first.

I will be glad to get back to work on Tuesday so I can relax a little! I have a few haircuts to do this week so that helps with the money. Need to get some quarters for laundry.

Oh, I also found a tiny bible that has my grandmother's name printed on the front of it that she must have gotten when she was very young. The date inside is in the late 1800's! And it is all written in Swedish! It must have been with my mom's things I took when she passed.

Have a good night!

Today was my mom's 95th birthday... so stayed and had supper with her we both had steak... was quite good more than I normally pay for steak but then I usually pay for steak but it was good and thought it would be good for her to have company while eating. doing much much better today although I didn't see her move or being moved much... guess it is Sunday so maybe that is why.. she was moved to another room one reason given was she is going to be in the switch bed program so will be in hospital for awhile longer then she was in the hall that they use when they have lots of Covid patients... and didn't want her in that area in case of a new rise in the Covid patients... and she is closer to the nurses station... but as I said she was much better eat well better than in the past couple of weeks.. more alert will see how she is doing tomorrow
hopefully will catch up with a dr... couple questions I want to ask like why she needs to keep going to oxygen they take her off it and when they check it again it's down again... wondering if it's something she will need to be on when sleeping
we would need to look into the one that works from the air don't know the name of it but it would be easier and cheaper than having to have a tank...
I am going to see if one of my dd's will come get me Friday take me home and then on Saturday take me to see my great grandson... would love to meet the little dude lol it would mean not seeing mom on Saturday will be back that evening hopefully not too late to see her but if so will be there Sunday
dd and son in law as well as my granddaughter came over came about 10 so we watched the meeting on zoom and then fixed veggie beef soup tasted really good when I asked if they could stay sil asked how long it would take said an hour took just that ... guess my truck even in it's shape is worth 15000 I paid I think 12 or 13 for it 5 or 6 years ago... so this is what we decided to do they bought a truck 3500 diesel so they are going to tow the 5th wheel down I will follow with car that I can use it has a life time warranty on it so just a 100 dollar co pay to get it repaired if needed... the down side to this is that if I travel it will mean my staying in a motel or do a bed in back of the Journey... I might make it to that gtg in Texas...
just realized that it is after midnight need to go to bed literally not much time for all I do yet this show I started watching on ID is telling about an old murder in SLC in 1977 wonder if they found the murderer don't remember at all
mom's birthday cake was good made a lemon poppy seed cake was really moist...
you all have a great day
sheila
oops question sil was wondering what to do to winterize it just in case never done it yet know sorta the more important things but don't remember what the pink stuff is called would you let me know either on here or a text would be good as well

Sheila the magic “pink stuff” is the RV anti-freeze. NOT automotive anti-freeze. You have a lot of planning and then execution of things! Good luck. Saying prayers for your mom. She is kinda spunky!
