Wednesday October 6

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Wednesday October 6

Postby Shirlv » Wed Oct 06, 2021 8:55 am

Morning All, cloudy and rain predicted. My eye appointment was in Easton which is the closest town to me on the shore. #1 daughter drove since I would have blurry eyes. We had lunch at a new Italian restaurant, The Spaghetti House. Food was good and I managed to get food from plate to mouth without a problem. So much for avoiding flour. :) Have been cautious about restaurants and gatherings but the isolation has been going on for a year and a half and I am really tired of it. A couple of errands this morning and then staying home for a few days. Be safe

Shirl, you remind me that I need to find some frames I like before I lose the prescription card the doctor gave me. He called me the other day to give me the results of a DNA test. Something he wanted to do because of the condition in my left eye. The test didn't show anything. I had already forgotten about the test. I have looked at frames on line but I want to see them in person. I am happy when I have someone to eat out with but like you, try to be careful about going to restaurants. On the news yesterday they were warning of a super spreader wedding last month in Abbeville that exposed 150 people to covid. They didn't say who's wedding it was but with all the information on social media it probably wouldn't be hard to figure out. There have been several funerals that I wouldn't go to.

I called the hospital to see if I could make an appointment for a booster shot. My second shot was in March so it's been 6 months. I got a voice mail so hope they call me back.

I was digging in the freezer yesterday and found a container of Crawfish and Artichoke Bisque. I forgot how good it was. I will have to make another batch when I get some of the food out of the freezer.

I finally got around to measuring the seats in the motorhome so I could order seat covers. It aggravates me that they put that cheap fake leather that peels. One of the rv supply sites had some that I think will fit. I kept looking around online and found the same seat covers for sale at Walmart for $30 cheaper. When I placed the order they wanted to apply two gift cards with $32 to the order. I don't know where that came from but I'll take free money. So instead of costing $40 they were $26 each. Sure hope they fit.

I waited too late yesterday to start mowing and it got dark before I finished. No telling how many skips I have. There were a couple of areas I didn't get to. I had mowed a lot of the area that was overgrown and now it's too wet again. I need to go get Sugar's medicine at the vet and probably pick up cat food for the outside cats.

Morning Shirl, Martha and all who follow. Today is Ty's birthday and the lucky boy is about to head to the vet for shots, etc. Then to Walmart for a pickup order. Then maybe a scenic drive. Temps are heading way down next week, so I may not be going anywhere unless it's a necessity until leaving. I'm really glad I finally filled my propane and hope it lasts through this cold spell that's coming. (It's already dang chilly, but worse is on the way.) When we get home, Ty will get a new toy that I can watch him destroy lol.

Happy Birthday Ty! Enjoy your new toys!
Our temp was 91° Monday, in 80's Tuesday, and predicted 70's today with possible showers coming. I'm not holding my breath on the showers ! but 70's after such a long hot summer is more than welcome.
I have a list of chores today. Hope I cross most off. One I'm not fond of is climbing ladder and taking down air return filters and washing them in shower then setting out to dry, before climbing again to put filters back in place. Mel was always in charge of that amd Chris can't climb, so it's my job now ... Will be interesting to see how bad they are after weeks of smoke over summer. I already changed the downstairs micron filter ( which is a royal pain as it wants to get caught coming out and new one in).
We got our flu shots yesterday and we don't recall being completely exhausted after a flu shot, but we were both falling asleep by 10 last night! Arm not even sore that I notice, have to see how my energy holds up today. Then got notice re boosters last night from Sutter Health where I got my Pfizer last Feb and March, so need to get to the web page today and see when and where.
Time to think about a pot of chili! Found a couple new all meat recipes including one where you make your own Sazon spice mix to avoid the MSG packaged mixes have. Now I recall why I bought Achiote powder last year, it's for that spice mix.
Gotta finish the morning cuddle Mandy session she makes sure I get, then painting class at 10, followed by Curves.
Have a good day all.

Good morning. We had rain yesterday and overnight but only cloudy and damp right now. High today will be 61 YAY Sweatshirt weather, I love it. Going with my old neighbor to run a couple of errands he has to do and then we will go to lunch.

Finally got air in my tires yesterday after trying for a couple weeks. Everytime I went to the tire place they were so busy I didnt bother them. The cold weather always makes my tires low in the cool so had to air em up. Good to go now. Still need to take the car in for tire rotation and new windshield wipers but will just check them out as I drive by and if not busy I will pop in and get er done. Also made it to Spectrum yesterday and officially CUT THE CORD. I think it will work out just fine. Cancelled the TV but of course kept the internet. I really dont watch that much tv but I like a few shows and the news. I record several shows as some are on later than I stay up. After trying both Youtube tv, and Hulu I went with Youtube. The beauty is if you want to change to something else you just cancel it. You can go back and forth LOL as often as you want.

My neighbors are going to cut their tv off also and asked me over last night to show them how some of it worked. They do have Netflix and Amazon Prime because their daughter has them on her account so they already know how to stream and have a ROKU stick but havent used it much. Their bill was going up to $217 and they have a tv, phone, internet bundle with one DVR and one cable box. I am going to be saving $45 so I am happy.

Happy Birthday Ty. Where has the time gone. Emma will be 5 this January. Good grief she was just a 2.4lb 10 week old puppy when I got her. I have to get my flu shot next week also. Already had my Covid booster so I am good in that area. Martha I need to clean out my freezer also. Cleaned the fridge the other day so time to move to the freezer cleaning.

Made the potato soup last night. It was pretty good. I did thin mine a bit with some milk as I dont like super thick soups. Not sure if my packet of country gravy was too large for it as it was the only one they had and was pretty big but hey, maybe they are all that size. Anyway it was very tasty. I took a container over to my neighbors as there was just quite a bit and no room in the freezer ha ha It is their anniversary this weekend and they are going to the coast on Friday just for the night, so I am going to watch their dog. She is the cutest little Pom about 4-5lbs, Emmy is her name so I can just holler at Emmy and they will both pay attention LOL Emma and Emmy ha ha She sleeps in her crate at night so will just take her home to feed and go to bed.

Better get busy here and get my butt in the shower.

Good afternoon ladies!

Beth, I am elated that you know what you'll be doing for the next season. Shirl, I'm so glad you were able to spend lunch out. Martha, you spend an awful lot of time on the mower. Karen, I was thinking about you this morning when I saw states with mandatory vaccines in hospitals. I saw in NY they were advertising $ 200 an hour for traveling nurses due to the shortages.

Nothing new here as we've been bleaching/cleaning the patio on our property for the past two weeks. It's back breaking work but we think we're almost done. On a good note, the weather is glorious.

I made the potato soup this afternoon and find it to be excellent. I won't put the cheese on it though. I will make it again. It'll be good in the next few cold days.

Ty got his shots and was good at the vets against his own wishes lol.

I have doctor's and dermatologists appts made for my week plus at my casita. I'll hold off on my flu shot until I get there also. Hopefully I'll be able to get my booster Moderna shot then, too.

I agree with Irmi's comment about the time you spend mowing, Martha. I do not miss that. Or shoveling.

I do seem to spend a lot of time mowing or worrying about when it will be dry enough to mow. I'm afraid to even ask what it would cost to have someone do the mowing. I think anything that keeps me moving is good.

Irmi, could you put something to catch the water from the air conditioner so it doesn't make such a mess on the concrete?

I went and got Sugar's medicine but didn't feel like going to Walmart to look for the potatoes for the soup.

Poor Ty, had to get shots on his birthday. The Boston Terrier we had could take the squeaker out of a toy so fast. Sugar isn't interested in anything unless it involves food. All the things for hard chewers she can go through in a few minutes. I have to be careful about what I give her. She is having a fit in the back yard. She can probably smell something. She would have make a good hunting dog. Every time we walk she will try to track something she smells.

I got to work today and there was just the receptionist and the owner there. Apparently, the manager has Covid so the morning crew left early to go get tested. My coworker friend I work in the afternoons with didn't come in because she got injured playing pickleball this morning. The owner wants all of us to get tested. We have all gotten vaccinations but my manager hung out with a friend last weekend who he knew had Covid, but my manager didn't think he could get it since he was vaccinated.

So now I need to try to get in somewhere in the morning for a test before I head to work early since I need to leave there by 1pm to get to the interview by 1:45. I will have to be really careful until I find out. I would like to get a rapid test but they cost too much ($150). The receptionist was trying to find a store that had the home tests but every place she checked was sold out.

Monday is Columbus Day and work is closed that day. Not sure why they need to be closed for such an insignificant holiday. I need the money more than I need the day off.

I found out that the owner of where I work, just sold the business. Supposedly, the new owners want to expand the business and hire more workers. If I had time to wait around for that to happen, that would be great but I need full-time right away. If I get this other job, I will let my current manager and owners know that I will come back to work there once I can get full-time hours. Hopefully, they can let the new owners know that.

On a more positive note...it will be in the 80's all weekend and the 70's early next week! Yay! Finally!

today was not a normal day nor was it a welcome day...
I usually go to the bedroom about 11 do the before bed stuff look on FB for a bit and then read... my book of choice was a Debbie Macomber book so enjoy hers... got into it and looked at the phone to check out the time saw it was 2:00 so thought hmmm 1 more chap well 1and 1/2 chapter's later I heard something followed by something so I grab my glasses and go out to check on mom found her on the floor by the dining room table since she was in a lot of pain I opted to call 911 and have EMT's come and check her out if they felt like she could get up then we would do so... instead she ended up at the hospital and still is the MRI found out that she has cracks in her pelvis.... in lots of pain which is expected.... the Ortho said that she probably will be in the hospital a couple of days then probably into a rehab type of place.... they said that it usually takes 6 weeks to heal from this not sure if all that time is in rehab or what but he did said that he didn't think that I could take care of her by myself for a period of time... so guess we will have to figure out what we all can do ....
will she recover from this she can I am sure but will she??? she turns 95 on Sunday
I am so not sure what the future will bring for me...
do I still want to go to Q yes I do but will I not sure at this moment guess time will tell
I did come home and rest for a bit but am tired think a cup of hot choc is in store
you all have a good day

Oh Sheila, I'm so sorry. And those type of injuries are much harder on us as we age. Hugs to you and hopefully you and the family will figure out what's best in the next few days. I know you'd love to get to Q, but maybe it will happen, just later. And maybe not this winter.

Sheila, so sorry to hear about your mom! Good thing you were there and awake tho. Doesn't sound like she will need surgery so that is a big plus. You will have to just take one day at a time and see how things go. Have you thought about her going to an assisted living place? Or maybe in-home care when she is able to go back home. You will have to talk it all over with your family after you see how she progresses. (((hugs))).

Barbara , I heard a news tidbit today that several million rapid over the counter CoVid tests were pulled in a recall this week. That may be why hard to find. Something about inaccurate results!

Sorry to hear about your Mom taking a spill. At her age recovery could be a longer road. Heck we just dont bounce back quickly like we used to when we were younger.
