First Monday in October

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Spent the day filling tubes with pot and I get just covered in it! I wear a lab coat but it still gets all over. I smell like I have been rolling in it!

Beth, the job I am interviewing for is the same pay but is full-time. It is unfortunately, just as far to drive as where I am working now so I use up a lot of gas driving back and forth each day.

I had gotten my mom into a really nice health care facility that was on the lake that I grew up on. It was a very expensive place and had a lot of the wealthy people from around the lake area (including the Pillsbury family) living there. My mom had no money but was on Medicaid and they were required by the state to have so many beds available for those on Medicaid and she got in that way. I remember her first day there, she was seated for lunch with John Pillsbury and one of the Cargill's. She complained that all they talked about was who had more money and toys! It was an excellent facility tho and she got the best of care there so we were really lucky with that. My dad stayed there for his hip replacement rehab and he was such an awful patient that when I tried to get him in there a few years later for transitional care, they wouldn't take him. The next time he needed transitional care, I talked them into taking him, promising I'd tell him to behave better! They reluctantly accepted him. He was on better behavior then. When my mom was there, they loved her! She was so nice and easy going and never complained about anything (not that there was anything to complain about, altho my dad sure found things!)

Martha, I have been putting my hair cutting business cards in the laundry rooms here so maybe I will get some calls from that.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Yes Barbara, first gas cars were on road 1893 and a few battery cars before that. This portrayal was people born starting mid 1800's and talked about their lives concentrating on 1890-1920 or thereabouts and what it was like to transition to cars as 1800''s came to a close. Most of these important community members had some type car by 1918 when flu hit. They talked about how much easier house calls got for Dr and his wife, also a Dr, once they had a car with actual headlamps vs trying to drive a horse with buggy in dark to emergency calls. One gentleman had run a horse drawn bus service and talked about buying his first motor driven bus (and his building is still standing today).

Velda, I would have really enjoyed that tour. Fascinating.

Beth, one of the interesting aspects to the tour was how they showed how the various people knew each other and were connected. I've lived in this area over 35 years and never taken the time to know local history. It's fun learning why certain streets carry certain names. We can have fun exploring our "own backyard"! And today in a message, after writing to the group who put it on, I got a thanks and a list go fun other local walking tours available !

Judy, I don’t know if it’s too far away for your aunt, but I recommend you checkout our Good Samaritan Center in Dowling Park, northern FL. It has a five star rating, and I know patients receive excellent care here. https://www.acvillage.net/resources/acvs-nursing-home-receives-5-star-rating/
Maybe you could stop in for tour on your way to Florida.

Thanks, Liz, but for legal reasons, we have to keep her in Georgia.
