Saturday October 2

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Saturday October 2

Morning All, Another nice autumn day. Traffic on the island is back to manageable. Since there is only one road to the bridge any accident will cause a log jam but that is true anywhere. Went out to the dumpster yesterday and a young man was wiping down his car. I suggested he clean mine too but he just laughed. I had bought and stored a bucket, mop and car wash in my daughters shed so I could wash my suv. Since I couldn’t breathe in the humidity that didn’t happen. Sooo hopped in the car, went to daughters and washed it. I am so out of shape just sitting around that little effort was exhausting. Will make that a weekly chore. #2 daughter sent me a video of the 8 week old puppy awake at 5am. Beth and I tried to post it but no luck. He is a cutey. Be safe

My motorhome needs washing. I should have left it out when I got home and maybe the rain would have washed some of the dirt off. Once I put it under the RV port I don't want to move it again.

I'm bored and would like to go to town. Saturday is not a good day to do that. I should go in the truck and get some mulch for the rose bed. The pot my mums were in was falling apart so I found a pot and repotted them. I think I'll buy another pot of mums if I see some that are nice. The ones at Walmart aren't very big. I think I really do have catnip growing in the feed container. There are flowers on the plants and I see the outside cats smelling them. I picked a flower and the inside cats went crazy over it. The fire ants are moving up the hill because of all the rain. I need more poison before they move in the house.

I finally gave up on the company I talked to about my roof and called someone else. They sent someone yesterday. They have to order the metal so will see how long that takes since everything seems to be in short supply.

Hi there...
Oops, looks like I missed posting on Rabbit day.
It's nice seeing what everyone is up to.

So sorry about your dad, Cheryl. I agree with the others, you took good care of him & now it is time to take care of yourself. I'm sure he is at peace & will watch over you now from a better place.

Been busy here... My little guy is very active & has started having a 2-year old attitude. The preschool just notified us that he can start in Dec 3 days a week. My DIL is a little worried about him starting so soon, but I think he'll do fine once he gets used to the new routine.

October is going to be busy too. I'm going to Kansas City for a co-worker's wedding. When I arrive back, my daughter is coming home from France for a few weeks so we're getting the other kids out here for a get-together.

Then in Dec, I'm going to France to spend Christmas with her, her hubby, his mom & grandpa. Should be a trip of a lifetime. It'll be nice having private tour guides who speak the language. They are excited to show me their country. I do hope they approve the booster for Moderna before then but I also plan on wearing my mask - especially in crowds or around his grandpa.

Well, I've got to get moving & get this place in order.

Hope you all stay well & enjoy the fall before winter sets in.
Take care,
Catherine

Well. . . I am looking forward to enjoying "the fall". . . if it ever gets here. October 2 today, temps here topped out at 100 degrees (again), with only 12% humidity. At least it's a "dry heat" . Temps probably remaining about the same into the end of next week.

At this rate, I don't know if my area will ever actually make it to "winter" this year.

I guess I shouldn't complain. I'm still picking tomatoes and strawberries; with new cantaloupe and butternut squash ready to pick in another week or so.

Velda, like you, I noticed that "a chance of rain" is predicted for, maybe, next Friday. It sure would be nice, but I'm not holding my breath.

Good afternoon/evening.

Catherine, I just watched Kansas State football game (they lost) and thought of beautiful fall weather in Kansas. Of course, they aren't in the mountains! I'll get used to it. Also, how exciting to have company and then Christmas in France. Martha, I really hate fire ants! Went to Disney World with my toes all bandaged up! Shirl, kids said I could wash car at their house and then mentioned their hard water.

I really did a dumb thing today. Replacement piece for desk has been sitting here for quite awhile, thought I'd wait for winter to tackle it, but I decided today was the day. Got the desk apart, opened the package and yep, they sent the wrong piece! It's suppose to be the main desktop, but they sent the smaller top (it's a 'L'). Kept thinking I should go open box, but I didn't.

So after this week, we will have 50 degree weather.

Just a quickie!

Good news. Linda has been moved out of intensive care today, but still in the hospital. Everyone's prayers are working.

Beth, I didn't check on here after you posted yesterday and haven't been on FB for a bit so I just read about Linda. Glad she is out of ICU! Whew! Scary! :o i will send her a text message. She is supposed to be coming out here in a few weeks for the winter. That will probably be delayed now depending on how she recovers.

Have been very busy today! I did a super cleaning job on my bathroom and bedroom. I rearranged my bedroom and closet, and put a shelf in my room that I had in the kitchen, to used for my books. I needed to move the shelving unit anyways since I plan to put a cabinet where it was in the kitchen. It kind of fell apart but managed to salvage three shelves which is the right height I needed under the window anyways. I will have Dave put the cabinet together for me so we can get it in there soon.

I had planned to do the kitchen but that didn't happen. Twice today, while I was cleaning, I started getting a little light headed and nauseous so I rested, ate something and drank a lot of water. I am thinking I am a bit dehydrated. Later I took out the trash and recycling and worked outside for a bit. Now am just resting for the rest of the night. Tomorrow will be the kitchen cleaning. Am also decluttering and getting rid of more stuff as I go. Oh, and laundry tomorrow too.

Catherine, spending Christmas in France sounds so exciting!

I am also looking forward to fall and winter here, unlike those of you in the north. Will be nice to get the porch all cleaned out and usable so I can spend cool evenings out there. Lola will love that too. That reminds me, I need to put together her cat door soon too.

Martha, catnip grows SO fast! I planted some once and it went crazy! Unfortunately, the cat I had at the time didn't really care for catnip so I just pulled it all out.

Sheila, I wonder if the baby will now be referred to as "Little Dude" for a nick name as he grows up? What do you use in your tator tot hotdish? I use cream of mushroom soup and a can or two of mixed veggies mixed with the hamburger. Do you put cheese on top of the tator tots? I don't but have had it that way and really like it. Everyone seems to make it a little different. And what is Mexican hot chocolate? I also had that Good Sam insurance when I traveled out here with my trailer 4 years ago. It is a good deal if you need your rig moved and there are a lot of other benefits that come with it. I swear by their Roadside Assistance program as well. They really came thru for me in Bozeman, MT when I had issues with my Jeep there.

Need to get my dinner figured out now...
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Had kind of a busy day today. Made a couple of dishes in the kitchen for do ahead suppers. Made a blueberry cobbler but I didnt care for it too much, too sweet so threw that out.

Laura stopped by for a bit today on her way to Medford to see her family, always good to see her even for just a short time. I am still on my Hulu trial but have decided to go with Youtube TV instead. If I dont like it long term I can cancel anytime, no contracts. Have to go to Spectrum this week and cancel my TV package, but of course will keep the internet. I just dont watch that much regular tv except for the shows I like to follow and I usually record them to watch later. Otherwise I stream most things.

A friend posted this today and I thought it was pretty funny so thought I would share with you all.

Today I was in a shoe store that sells only shoes, nothing else. A young girl with a tattoo and green hair walked over to me and asked, "What brings you in today, I looked at her and said, "I'm interested in buying a refrigerator." She didn't quite know how to respond, had that deer in the headlights look.
I was thinking about old age and decided that old age is when you still have something on the ball, but you are just too tired to bounce it.
When people see a cat's litter box they always say, "Oh, have you got a cat" I just say, "No, it's for company!"
Employment application blanks always ask who is to be called in case of an emergency. I think you should write, "An ambulance."
The older you get the tougher it is to lose weight because by then your body and your fat have gotten to be really good friends.
The easiest way to find something lost around the house is to buy a replacement.
Have you ever noticed: The Roman Numerals for forty (40) are XL.
The sole purpose of a child's middle name is so he knows when he's really in trouble.
Did you ever notice that when you put the 2 words "The" and "IRS" together it spells "Theirs"
Aging: Eventually you will reach a point when you stop lying about your age and start bragging about it.
Some people try to turn back their "odometers." Not me.
I want people to know why I look this way.
I've traveled a long way and a lot of the roads were not paved.
Ah! Being young is beautiful but being old is comfortable.
Lord, keep your arm around my shoulder and your hand over my mouth.
May you always have:
Love to share,
Cash to spare,
Tires with air,
And friends who care.

ok while I am thinking of it I keep seeing the term hot dish.... Barbie you just used it is that the same as a casserole? I've been assuming that it was...but not positive
watching a Murder she wrote show suppose to take place in Jackson Wy... pretty funny the things that they will say about the area... like going up to the top of the Teton's for the view hmmm not sure that is a doable   ... why don't writer's do more research??? especially about a actual place???
so glad to hear that Linda is out of ICU and hopefully doing much better...
I wouldn't be surprised if Little dude fits for a long time ... we do know his name now though so asked what he would be called not straight answer...
coconut shrimp didn't happen tonight ... twice a year we have a church wide conference on Saturday night there is an evening meeting forgot about that and was afraid that it would take me longer to prepare it than I had.... I like to do hand work while listening so started a new dish cloth tore it out as I got distracted and started decreasing when I should have been increasing so then I decided to make a scrubbie it's the same pattern just a different type of yarn I made it a bit too big though but thinking it will be ok... so that is finished just suffice it that I am a slow knitter... didn't use work on my afghan though...
there is a new commercial out that I look at it and shake my head and wonder where they come up with stuff like that and why.... it's for Uber Eats only know that because there is something that says it.... :o
Caroline a trip to France that just sounds fun and to have locals taking you around even better...
that was a fun read Karen...
oh Barbi this was the first time I did a tater tot casserole this way they cooked the meat/onion/garlic put in pan topped with a can of mushroom soup then green beans (i did both corn and green beans) cheese and then the tater tots didn't have as much as I would have liked then was rooting in the freezer and found probably the amount I was lacking  she put the cheese under the tots so they could cook crisp... I really liked it... and have had it all mixed up with cheese on top as well but I think I like this better...
you all have a great night

Sheila, "hot dish" is a midwest term for casserole. For the tator tots, I bake them a bit first to get them brown and crispy, because I usually make the dish in a crock pot. I will have to try it with cheese next time!

You didn't mention what Mexican hot chocolate is... :? Sounds like it would probably be spicy!
