Thursday September 30

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Thursday September 30

Morning All, sunny, 61° and the coffee is hot. Hello, Sarah thanks for dropping in. Glad you are having your eyes taken care of. The drops are a pain but worth it. Just household chores today, get the mail, empty trash and a walk outdoors. Lettuce and kale plants are loving the cooler temps. Martha, do you deal with this much rain all the time or just in the fall. Didn’t buy the puppy bow tie because I thought he was 10 months old when he is only 8 weeks old. Daughter said taking cre of him is exhausting. Lol. Lots more sorting and shredding to do so will get the day started. Be safe

Good Morning,
Shirl, does your daughter have an inside pen for her puppy! I found it is a sanity saver! They come in various sizes and can be used inside or out. I was able to connect it to Emma's crate in the first picture below. But for puppy stage I put down a vinyl coated round tablecloth, added a piddle pad, food and water bowl and a little bed. Of course depending on chewing some things might need to be removed! If not enough room for this she could use a baby pen. I had to keep the set up even when Emma really didn't need it because my Miniature Poodle was convinced he could eliminate her and even now at 4 she lets him boss her around.

I'm so glad I saved it as we are on a Havanese wait list and 'expecting' Oct 13th :) :) Yes we have no sense!

BJ, she does have an inside pen and he doesn’t like it yet. Lol He sleeps in his little crate on her bed at night. He weighs about a pound so really needs the pen or he would get lost in the house. Also needs the pen for his and daughters safety.

Wonderful to see you back here Sarah! Also great that your eyes are getting the attention that they have needed. I remember you sitting at Nan's a couple of springs ago longer than you wanted partly because of the cataracts effects on your vision getting home to Alabama.

Nothing much exciting happening around here but everyone seems to keep moving, progressing and trying to live the good life. May your improved sight help you keep moving, too! I know that you have folks that would love to visit with you down in Florida this winter. Jump right back in here and share your "ity bity news" as you make it through your days. Big new is also strongly supported!

Around here, Lark and Audrey are still practicing for their local performance trial in a little over a week. They are both working on their Rally Excellent title. Jane just gets to lay around for a few weeks and wait her turn. Hopefully I get to go pick up the RoadTrek this afternoon. It is getting upgraded appropriate wiring and fitted out with a new Blue Ox tow bar that isn't ten years old and rusted. The eleven year old Honda is excitedly waiting for her opportunity to go traveling again. I think of her as a supped up trailer capable of carrying kayaks or other toys and equipment to support fun with the added advantage of being great to drive around sipping gas.

Good morning, chilly here today but will warm up to the 70's, I love Fall. Love the chilly mornings and the not so dang hot afternoons. I dont like that it is getting darker so early in the day but I better get used to it as November 7th we lose even more....oh well. I dont usually go out at night anyway so that part of it wont bother me much.

Nothing much else going on here today. Cannot believe tomorrow is October already. I just dont know where September went.....sigh. These months are flying by, and I used to think the weeks flew by but anymore it is another month every time I turn around.

Putting a small roast in the crockpot this morning for dinner. That will do for a couple of days. Then going to make that potato 3 ingredient soup for the weekend. It doesnt make a huge amount so I like that part. Might make my triple berry cobbler this afternoon. Will share with my old neighbor and my next door neighbor......if it turns out well LOL I am not a baker, I like to fix meals but not bake but this recipe seems very easy so will try it.

Tina have fun at your dog event and hope you get your Roadtrek back today.

Mornin' ladies~~~
Another beautiful day in the Chitown burbs. Keeping busy with visits to Dad and some minor purging of things. Found a stash of towels that will go to the shelter were I adopted my heart dog Molly. Still miss that silly girl. And liquor! Unopened bottles too. Maybe my cousin or his son will take them.

Shirl~ I got a giggle about the puppy getting lost in the house. Maybe he needs a helium balloon so find him. But it may scare the bejesus out of him. I've seen videos of people tracking turtles and hamsters that way. Maybe just a bell on his collar?

Have a good day ladies.

Cheryl, now you have me laughing. Puppy attached to a balloon and a string attached to daughters waist. Little guy wouldn’t be lonesome, he wouldn’t be underfoot and could see what’s going on. Would just float along side her. There is a cute collar with a little bell but if I were a one pound puppy it would get on my nerves.

Hi ladies!

Like lots of you, I can't believe this is the last day of the month. We have spent the past two weeks (not everyday) scrubbing the patio on our property. It needs to be power washed once a year and we are trying to clean it ourselves. The condensation from the a/c's on the motorhome build an algae that is like glue once it starts growing on the pavement. We just about have one side done and need to move the motorhome to do the other side. In the future, we'll be doing this no less than every six months. It is back breaking work.

Shirl, Teddy had a jingle bell collar for Christmas and by the end of the day, he had chewed all the bells off. But for a couple hours, we always knew where he was. The idea about the helium balloon is so funny!

I don't think I've mentioned that less than a month ago, Steve bought a Big Green Egg barbecue (https://biggreenegg.com/). He has made us some of the best meals that we have eaten in years. Since he bought the large one, we have plenty of room on it to cook or smoke a meal for friends. He's having so much fun with it.

Although it seems like we just did a roll call last week, I will try to chime in tomorrow with my itty bitty news.

Shirl, it seems like we have the rain all year. It has been several years since it was dry enough to have a burn ban. I can remember several summers that the pond was way down and I was worried about the fish. That had to have been over 20 years ago. Today's rain just got here. I managed to get the trash burned and the dirty cat litter dumped before it started.

I found some beef ribs when I went to town yesterday so I put them in the slow cooker with the onions. Where is the recipe for the 3 ingredient potato soup? I think I remember seeing it but don't remember where. Someone had made potato soup for the pot luck at the campout but I didn't think it was very good. I use to make potato soup that was nothing but potatoes, milk and butter, lots of butter.

Sarah you will be glad you got your eyes operated on. I had gotten to where I was afraid to drive at night. I still don't like to drive at night but I can see better at night.

I would be afraid I would step on a 1 pound puppy. When Sugar got sick from eating the dead bird I put up a fence between the dining room and living room to keep her off the carpet. I never did take it down. Sugar has the kitchen, dining room and utility room and the cats have the rest of the house. I put a bar stool so the cats can jump on it to get over the fence. It probably aggravates Sugar that the cats can come and go and she can't. I feed the cats in the bathroom so I don't have to worry about Sugar eating their food. They use to have to jump up on a portable table to eat. People that come in the house probably think I'm crazy. My son says I'm a "Real Pip."

I have some towels that I think abut bringing to the local shelter every time I come across them. I'm still POed at them because they wouldn't pick up the dog that pulled me down and drug me. I'm luck it didn't break my arm.

Yesterday I stopped at the drive thru daiquiri place to pick up a margarita. I put one in the refrigerator and drink on it all week. They were on sale for $6 so I got 2 and put one in the freezer. I think I have some eggnog in the freezer. I need to start using it for coffee creamer because it's almost time for them to start selling eggnog again. Christmas will be here before we know it.

Martha, Karen posted that potato soup recipe on a morning coffee post. I had to search to find it. So after I post this, I'll find it and copy the recipe and put it in the recipe room for easier finding later. Karen, I've got those potatoes on my next grocery order. I'm looking forward to making this.

It was 32 degrees when I walked Ty this morning. Brrr. Upper 60's, sunny and nice now.

It's about to top out around 100 degrees here again today.

you know that there are days that are a total waste and other days that are worse...
this was worse... don't know what I did other than knit on a dish cloth read scriptures and watched a pod caste... made supper and put two rows on the new afghan those first rows go so slow think it cause nothing to hang on to  Once I get the border on I will decide then what color to put on next...
it's been a sleepy day for mom that is about all she has done...
we had breakfast for supper... have had this recipe in my "folder" for several years but never made it till today... it's called
Raised Pancakes... you put together warm milk, sugar, salt, yeast, flour, egg yolks, and melted butter together cover and let raise till doubled and then fry.... it was really quite good... and cooked the bacon in the oven so easy to do it that way
it is cooling down not liking that thought at all right now I wish that I had my heated throw
I think my grandson headed back to base today... sure wish as I text him that "I'd gotten a hug" he gives good hugs... but I don't think he will be there to long as he is getting a medical discharge...
doesn't look like I will make it to the wedding tomorrow as still no baby :( so guess I need to send a wal mart order to my dd
I don't like having to have them shop for me but that is the way it is...
I lucked out in the drop issue when I had my cataracts removed in that the place that did them did a compound of drops in one that was so much cheaper than the three types of drops..but glad Sarah that you got one done and not long till the next one!!! much better but even though I can drive so much better at night I still don't like to but not because of the lights just don't like to...
I plan on making some coconut shrimp as the recipe sounds good but it's labeled as a appetizer... so what would you serve with it I think shrimp is one of mom's favorite foods
I like the Simply something juice like orange juice or .... as well as limeade they had a new one out a watermelon .... not getting it again not sure what about it but didn't like it...
Rabbit's again huh???? doesn't seem possible
you all have a good day

I used to love to drive. . . daytime, nighttime, morning, noon. Anytime! These days, I'm with you Sheila. I can drive at night, but I really don't like to, and avoid driving at night whenever I can.

Don't know what it is, exactly. . . maybe it's just that one needs to pay "more attention" and to be "hyper alert" as to what is going on around you in the dark. Driving in traffic, on the freeway, at night, in a big city that is unfamiliar to me. . . just no. Won't do that again, I don't think, so long as I can possibly avoid it.

This reluctance to do night driving comes with age, I think - and maybe also too much imagination.

Getting ready to say "rabbits" here shortly!

We got some new weed for work today. I could smell it all the way out in the parking lot! It was really strong! And messy! By the time I was done at work. I was covered in it! Good thing I didn't get pulled over on the way home. I actually could have been, since my gas tank was almost on empty and I was heading to a gas station but when I got there, it was swarming with cops with their lights on! Wonder if it got robbed? Anyways, I had to make an illegal U-turn right there to get off the service road and head back to find another gas station before I ran out of gas. I guess they were all too preoccupied to notice.  . Finally got gas and headed home in the dark.

I just saw the forecast here for the next week. Mid to upper 90's until the middle of next week and then the highs drop down to the low to middle 80's! That will be SO nice! I can finally work on the outside of the house and inside the porch without getting overheated!

I think it might be another quiet season here. The US won't open the border from Canada until at least the end of October. It keeps getting changed later and later. The Canadians are not happy.

Lola is doing much better now. I will just keep her on her dry food from now on. The canned food just messes with her sensitive tummy, etc. I had gotten a prescription for special canned food for her from the vet, but she went thru it so fast, it was costing me almost $70 per month for it! Can't afford that! It sure fattened her back up in a hurry tho! She was down to 5 lbs at one point when she was so sick a year or so ago.

Need to get motivated this weekend around here. Getting behind on regular chores, besides the other projects I need to get back to. Been slowly working on my Halloween gourd. If this small one turns out good, I will make a larger version of it. I am learning from my mistakes on this smaller one so hopefully, the bigger one will go more smoothly and less fixes to it. I just need to take the time to do things correctly. I get impatient and start cutting corners. :( Good thing I don't build houses, bridges or high rise buildings! :o

All the medical personnel out here have been told they need to get vaccinated or they will be let go. I think that is a good idea. I sure don't want an unvaccinated nurse or doctor working on me! :o

Let us know how that potato soup recipe turns out. I like recipes that have less than 5 ingredients! :D

Have a good night and don't forget to say "rabbits"!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Boy, I'm sure with you on that one, Barbie! Although I think the anti-vaxxers out here will probably create a rumpus.
