Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Wednesday September 29

Morning All, feels like fall, temps in the low 70’s. Placed a grocery pickup order at Food Lion for today. Argued with myself because FL is more expensive but is 5 minutes from home also a safer drive. Think I will stop by the local pet store and see if I can find a bow tie for the new puppy. Lol I did move the file cabinet into the closet. Rearranging the closet consisted of shoving the hangers to one side. :D Now slowly organizing papers, going to be a lot of shredding going on. Be safe

Morning Shirl. It is kind of chilly out this morning 49 and we will be 71 later so I like that kind of weather. I think our rain event is over for now the next few days just show partly cloudy.
I am going to go to Walmart this morning for a few things, I also want to make that Potato soup tomorrow so need the Potatoes O'Brien. The other store didn't have them but I also need a few other things. Decided I would get my flu shot next week as my old neighbor wants his too so we shall go together and then maybe go out to lunch.

Everything is still wet outside so guess I will start doing some organizing in my office also. I have papers to file and I have things to shred so just might be a good day to do that before I end up with a big pile to shred.

Quiche again for breakfast here, with some avocado and the last of the tomatoes. Then will take a quick shower and head to the dreaded Walmart LOL

Good morning! The sun is out this morning so hope the rain is over for a few days! Actually heard thunder early yesterday morning but then the sun sorta came out later in the day. But definitely fall temperatures. I got a call from DIL of good friend yesterday morning telling me that he had passed away early hours of the morning. He was 86 and not been in good health for some time so wasn’t totally unexpected. But still hits hard. I thought about it and realized we’ve been in each other’s life’s for about 49 years. We met them in Holland and have had a friendship all these years. We watched our kids grow up together, marry and have our grandchildren. Definitely family by choice. Now I’m the only one of the 4 of us still kicking! Makes me feel old! So today I need to get some outside chores done and take advantage of the nice weather. Cool but loving the sunshine! I’m still waiting for the furnace guy to call me back. Always hurry up and wait for callbacks. So frustrating. Good grief, didn’t mean to bee a downer this morning! Beth, good that you made a decision that is good for you! Nice that you had choices! Sue, loved the pics of what you’ve done with the outside of your property. I think it’s about time for me to pull the snowblower from the back of the garage and make sure it’s ready for what’s coming! Not sure how many more times I’ll need to mow so can’t put the mower in back yet! Usually just change one machine with the other! Need to put the plastic “windows” up soon on the back porch too. Time to put chairs and other yard things away for safekeeping from the snow. Hate doing it but the seasons move on even if I’m ready or not! I got my flu shot the other day and I was surprised that I had a bit of a reaction to it. Had one day of just being really tired and feeling yucky. But that was all but more then usual. Lyn, hope you are feeling better. I’m glad I had the 2 shots for it awhile back. Barbie, hope you hear something about your job situation soon. And all the new homes are looking so nice! Enough rambling for me. I really need to get busy and get something accomplished today! I’ve been kinda lazy the last few days and haven’t gotten much done! Hope you all have a great day.

Anne, I've worked Amazon 3 previous years. As I was making less money this summer I thought I'd do it again, but can't imagine it, so cancelled both the job and my RV park reservation for that time. I'll be even more frugal than normal this winter and make it back next summer. I also cancelled West Yellowstone and she was very nice about it. Velda, I have no problems with Amazon and don't want to admit how much money they get from me. I also don't find the job something I'd be able to do full-time year round, but part of that is age. All factory work, to me, is hard and I give credit to those who do it. The few winters I did it, the money was worth it for the short time frame. What can I say, I'm getting older lol. Amazon thanked me for letting them know I wouldn't be coming and said I'm more than welcome back another year. I do try to never burn bridges.

Sheila, I emailed you about when you think you'll get to Q? It's possible I could come by there for a week or so early November if you'll be there by then.

After that I'll head to my place in Benson for a week or so with a stop on the way to see my audiologist, then on to where I'll going in Texas for the majority of the winter. I'll get there earlier and leave a tad earlier to go see Karen... Who hopefully can take me late March instead of early April. Karen????

Hopefully that's the end of my changing plans for this winter and next summer lol

Good morning!

Karen, I imagine you have seen YouTubeTV and NBC are in negotiations that might not be looking so good. Shirl, I hear you about which grocery store. I order groceries and other things from Walmart that are delivered by FedEx right to my door! I just bought canned pumpkin, spices, baking soda with making pumpkin bread in mind. Have a bunch of other non-grocery items on the way.

Rather dreary week, but next week looks good in 70s. Monica was on a field trip hike last week and had some beautiful fall color photos.

Have a good day!

Anita, yes I did know that about NBC but it doesnt bother me much as I dont watch that much on it or its affiliate shows. I am still on my trial so we shall see over the next couple of days. I can always cancel it anytime even if I keep it for a couple of months and decide I would rather have HULU. Decisions decisions.

Had to go to two stores to get a few of the things I was looking for today. Such a pain. They are pretty skimpy on some things in the stores right now, but my pantry is full so I shouldnt have to go for another month except for salad fixings and/or dairy. Have to have my eggs LOL

My booster a month ago just gave me a sore arm and maybe a couple of hours of maybe a tiny fever. Only problem was that sore arm lasted almost a week--much longer than original shots. However, I see that as a good thing because it means my body is reacting to it and boosting my immunity! I also got a flu shot but had them give it to me in my other arm.

Rough day driving today, and I almost bailed out of Blue Ridge Parkway around 2 pm. Each day has been about 100 miles, but first day was Sunday and a lot of traffic and all scenic pullovers filled with cars, so no stopping. Second and third days were much better because fewer curves and much less traffic. Today was rough because elevations were higher again and curves tighter with steeper ups and downs. My arms were really getting tired and I was getting bored because it just seemed like more of the same driving.

One thing to know is that the parkway is slightly narrower than newer roads, and it has NO shoulders at ALL!!! Plus, they do not trim the tree branches and bushes well at the sides of the road, so my rig got scraped several dozen times by low-hanging branches and bushes that needed trimming. Literally, branches were sticking out past the pavement edge, and hanging down. At least they were not thick branches, just leafy ones, so I did not notice any serious damage. There are no trucks on this roadway to "trim" branches like there are on most roads. Also, when another car came towards you, you had to stay in your lane, and with a wide vehicle like mine, it was "hit the branches" again because you could not go onto a shoulder. Several times even my windows got hit hard. No doubt they have skipped trimming things this year.

Also, there are places on the parkway where people have cut corners too close or run off the road on the outside of a curve, so their solution is to put stone curbs!! These are sometimes rounded, but also sometimes squared off. Height is only about 3" and width the same, but it you hit one of the squared-off ones, you could easily blow a tire. (I did that once in Scotland in 2003.) Not fun at all for the driver having to watch out for all of these things. I would not drive this again in anything but a car or a smaller Class B!

Because of some low tunnels coming up, I was planning to get off the parkway tomorrow on route 296, except a lady heard me asking about it at the registration booth and came over to tell me "No, Way!" Earlier today, she and her husband had taken that route getting onto the parkway and damaged not only the side of their big Class C, but also the truck they were towing. So, I am going back north 15 miles to take a shorter and more direct route into Ashville, NC, so I can get on the Interstate. Whew. Tomorrow, I will tell you about the campgrounds and teeny, tiny camping sites with curbs on all sides!

doesn't sound like I will pull the 5th wheel over that road Judy... although I still want to drive it how may miles is it?
did the last load of the laundry... and drum roll  I trimmed the fringe on all three afghan's ... so they are totally and completely finished yea!!!! and started the next one... I hope that I chose the right color to start with my niece picked out dark sage green, heather grey, a burgundy, and a lavender so choose the green for the border... I didn't want the green and the burgundy next to each other sorta don't know where to put that lavender :o I always worry about the placement sometimes all the way through the afghan...
Beth the one problem about your choice of jobs is this.....you won't get any Huckleberry Ice Cream and that is a shame...
I hope it works out so I will be in Q at the time you can be there.... part of my problem is that even though I gave notice as to when I want to leave and we all agree Mom shouldn't be on her own no one can take over till later in the month like couldn't they have told me sooner??? at least I would have known.. and it takes away from my opportunity to spend time with my kids which they both have had the opportunity to be with family so I could build myself up to a burn... and yet they are both understandable reasons just what was so hard about letting me know weeks ago??? and what happens after they return??? I still don't know but we should hopefully be able to talk it over at mom's birthday I think they will both be here....
finally had my tuna fish sandwich tasted so good
you all have a great day

The blue ridge parkway is 469 miles. The year I drove on it I started out in Front Royal, VA on the Skyline Drive which is 105 miles and runs into the Blue Ridge Parkway. I forgot that you can't get off at just any place. My intention was to stay on it all the way to Asheville because I wanted to go to the Biltmore. When I got to Roanoke I had enough and cut over to the interstate. I stayed one night at one of the campgrounds and there were Big Class A's at the campground. I can't imagine driving it in a Class A.

It rained all day yesterday and until noon today. I was bored so went to town. We are suppose to have rain for the next week.

Last night I opened my bedroom windows and had a nice cool breeze blowing thru all night. Slept like a baby! So wonderful! I needed that!

I called the lady at the employment agency about the cannabis job. She said they filled the positions already but will let me know if/when they start doing interviews again! Really? I just spent $62 for nothing! So now I am back to square one. :(

Then I got to work and it was just me and my friend working (besides the receptionist). Apparently, our manager, who quit last week, neglected to order more weed so we ran out. The morning shift left early, leaving some sealing and boxing of packages for us to do. Luckily, we stayed busy until 5:30, so left just a half hour early. Hoping we have work to do tomorrow  . I am worried about this job ending, since they are so slow now.

I have been going thru Craig's List jobs, and the other big online job search sites but there isn't much of anything I am qualified for. Mostly restaurant, medical and trucking jobs. Or jobs that want experience I don't have, being bilingual, or lifting heavy things. Am getting nervous about upcoming expenses. Just got my Jeep registration...$200 due the first week of December. I will need to pay $300+ for my property taxes in November. :( No wonder I am grinding my teeth so much lately!

I hope I remember to say "rabbits" tomorrow night after midnight. I need all the luck I can get right now.

Off to bed. Not sure if it will be a good night to open the windows again since there is no wind tonight. I could put a small fan in one of the windows to pull the cooler air in, I guess. Will see...
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
