Thank you Sheila. For this one, I remembered seeing some pictures from China or Japan in a distinctive style. They were done in all black paint and were of sharp crags, cliffs and small pine trees that looked like they were growing out of the rocks. A while back I tried to do something similar and the mountains were a complete fail. The trees came out OK. So for this I decided to do a more traditional mountainside and will try to master the Chinese/Japanese style of the mountains later. I also made the trees taller, more like the pine trees we have here.

Yes Barbie, this is very simple. I would guess it took about 25 minutes to complete - 15 minutes of which included letting the mountain dry before adding the trees. Sometimes simple is better. :)

Sandi, I really like ALL your pictures. They are so calming, simple, not busy like so many pictures. Seems like they all tell a story.

I appreciate the positive comments. I tend to lack confidence and they help me to keep trying to improve.

I saw a picture of a reverse silhouette of a basketball player in a magazine so I decided to see if I could create a similar effect for a ballet dancer. One of my granddaughters is taking ballet and I think she’s very talented (Grandma speaking, but she’s NOT biased). I think I’ll frame it and give it to her for her room and hope it might encourage her to continue her study of ballet.

When I posted the sunflower, Velda mentioned her favorite flower is the iris. So I thought I’d give it a try.
