Temp dropping Tuesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Temp dropping Tuesday

Postby Colliemom » Tue Sep 21, 2021 11:21 am

Just barely short of noon here in northern Michigan. Cloudy day with rain showers and falling temps. Fall officially arrives tomorrow and we have rain and50 degree temp predicted Along with some wind, so will definitely feel like it. NWS mentioned yesterday that we are 4 to 6 weeks away from seeing our first white flakes

So this week will be a good time for me to catch up on stuff in the house. Two new end tables to assemble and all the stuff from my trailer needs to be sorted and stored in bins or wherever I decide I want it. Hanging on to it for now till I see what the future holds down the road here. Sent the dishes and a few other things with the trailers new owner to get her started. I have some space in basement storage shelf area, now that the trailers grill is gone, so a little reorganizing coming up down there.

Cheryl, I’m so sorry to hear about your dad. But glad there is a DNR. I have that spelled out in my POA for Health Care, which being set up, signed and notarized is legal and binding, so hospital must follow it. Dr.and Patient Advocate as well as my self have copies. I hope you get some help finding a place for him to be comfortable and cared for. Having gone through Hospice with mom, I know how great they are. Also know how hard it is to be a caregiver and the toll it takes on one. As others have said, take time for yourself too.

Martha, nice to see somebody else likes Polo shirts besides me. I too need to get some. . Ordering is on my agenda this week. Looking at Lands End p, but have never ordered from them. I buy my stuff from L.L.Bean. But have most of the colors they have right now. I have some for when. I want to have a nice shirt to wear and some for everyday wear around the house and those are wearing out.

Need to get changed here and head to town for Audiologist appt. thought feedback issue was solved, but nope. So will have it checked again. Not the aid, either tube or mold I think. So have a nice day all.

Good morning Sue and the rest of you!

Sheila, my golf cart is still not charging so just sitting there for now. I should have thought to put the cover on it over the weekend since now it is covered in dust and grass! Will have to give it a bath and then cover it after that.

They have been scalping, weed whacking, blowing, etc out there all morning. I can see my car is covered in dust and grass too. Good thing I didn't go wash it over the weekend when I got gas! I will have to get my leaf blower out there after work to clean off some of the debris from my deck, driveway, patio, etc. (I bought that little leaf blower at the flea market in Q a couple years ago. Works great for small jobs!) I still hear a lawn mower out back right now. I though they were done with that area. So more mess coming  . I will probably be sneezing for a few days now.

Off to work soon. Have a good day!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Good afternoon sue and all. Made it beck home about noon today. Took time beforehand filling gas and propane tanks so it’s all ready for storage and winterizing. I got everything out and all I need to do is cleaning but I can do that later on. Supposed to get heavy rain here with showers tonight into tomorrow and maybe more on Thursday so wanted to clear things out before it starts. Now I need to get out and mow the yard since I didn’t manage to do it before I left. Lola ran well and seemed to do everything I needed her to do! Had a nice shady site and up a bit so I could observe what was going on from the comfort of my chair! Rascal did some good and some not so good. He loved our walks but thought I didn’t walk far enough! He just doesn’t understand I do it for his own good. I could tell in the evening how he was moving how worn out he was. He just doesn’t have the strength in his back legs to do what he wants. Makes me so sad.
Cheryl, was trying to catch up here and I’m so sorry for what you are going through with your dad. Hope you are able to find a solution. COVID has sure made things difficult. Sue, I think fall is coming here too! I think this approaching storm may be the turning point! Oh, never saw or even heard any elk this trip and I didn’t want to try to get through traffic or find a place to park. This is when I do miss my RoadTrek! So that’s about it for me. Need to get outside and mow! Have a good rest of the day!

Sheila, remember way back in the 50s when people sometimes had fans attached to tops of doorways? They were just regular small circular fans, but were screwed to door jam top or ceiling just in front of door. I suspect that you and your mother are short enough it would not hit your head, especially if it were put in the corner. Adult kids could duck!

It is cooling off here in eastern Virginia. Last couple of days about 81 and upper 70s rest of week, but important thing is lows in low 60s and 50s. I hate having the AC blow directly on me at night.

Had a good day yesterday at Jamestown, but a lot of walking from entrance to site and museum. I told rangers they needed a shuttle for older people or people using canes and walkers, of which I saw many. The sun also made it warm, and my back was killing me all day, but it was worth the trip and I enjoyed the museum. Now I need to get back to posting photos from Gettysburg and Jamestown before I head out to Colonial Williamsburg tomorrow. I am headed to Kill Devil Hills out on the Outer Banks for two nights--Thursday and Friday. I really need to come back here again for a longer period to spend it on the Otter Banks. Then Sunday will be on the Blue Ridge Parkway for a few days. Looking forward to that.

Weird thing is puzzling me. Campgrounds in Florida are completely booked--except there are tons of spaces at Ortona South, which is a COE campground. Gorgeous, paved spaces with water and electric on a dam with a lock on a navigable river. Big draw is watching boats go through locks, fishing, and family of otters that live along a tiny stream in campground. So why are at least half of spots available today for March 21??????? And about a dozen are available for earlier than March 21, but still in March. Is it COVID?? Something wrong going on at campground??? December through early March are completely booked at Ortona, so this does not make sense. Ditto for Midway campground along the Tamiami Trail. It is 75% empty for March?? It has only electric, but it has paved sites. It looks like not much to do here in the middle of nowhere, but this is one of my favorite campgrounds. There are alligators and birds in the big ditch along the highway, plus a visitor center with more birds and alligators about three miles west, and believe it or not, an art gallery half a mile away. You can also take a tram or ride your bike at Shark Valley about 12 miles east, but I guess you have to know these places are there. Can do airboat rides, also.

Weird when available campsites makes you worry something is wrong, right???

I spent today in Bryce Canyon NP with my visiting friend Tom. We will not talk about our stop for breakfast at a little cafe recommended to me for their burgers which I'll never have after being charged $40 for 2 breakfasts of scrambled eggs, bacon, 1 hash brown patty (probably from the freezer section of Walmart) and a slice of white bread toast that was almost toasted. Oh, Tom had a cup of coffee and I had water. What a rip off. We had lunch at a food truck parked at one of the view points in Bryce and spent less than half our breakfast total.

Tom and Ty are both napping. It's nice to have a visitor, but napping on my sofa means my living room and kitchen are both out of bounds. So Ty is sleeping on my bed and I'm here, also from my bed.

It was upper 20's this morning. Brrr. Beautiful out now and i don't see hard freezes happening again this week. At least not now. We know it could change.

Happy Tuesday.

Good afternoon/evening!

I had my annual doctor appointment which amounts to not much. Surprisingly, my shoulder has felt pretty good since Sunday afternoon so we are at 'wait and see'. Once again I have been lucky to find a doctor I really like! As I went to the Sling after, someone spoke to me by name. I had no idea who he was! Without mask showing a beard and with a baseball cap, I finally realized it was the physical therapist! I then took a fun loop ride in the hills and along the river in the canyon on a beautiful day stopping for a few groceries.

I updated my iPhone and now iCloud is holding my photos prisoner! I have Googled and done everything but reset the phone. GRRRR.

Evening ladies! On day one of my trip home. I landed in Lafayette and had dinner with Martha. It was so nice she came all this way! Too bad we aren’t closer together. Her kitties could teach my kitty about life in general. Just turned off the generator and have a battery operated fan going. I hope it will do for the night. Should be in the upper 60’s in the morning and if I am luck the travels will be under optimum conditions. I haven’t figured out if I will drive the 250 or the 350 mile drive tomorrow. A lot will be dependent on if Baton Rouge is a 2 hour or 3 hour city tomorrow. I hope it is a lil city, but you never know when someone is in a hurry to get to their accident ahead of you. I am scheduled home on Thursday! Hopefully I will be early enough to free Ms Eve from the boarders. Wanna bet, she is gonna be mad at me.

I am pooped, but if I hit the sack, I will be awake at oh, dark thirty but don’t want to drive in the dark early morning. So I shall attempt to stay up. Have a great evening and be safe.

Judy, I would also like to spend time at the Otter Banks! I love otters! :D

I came home from work and took my leaf blower to my neighbor's and blew out all the dust and debris off her deck and steps for her. Then started on my deck. On a little table out there I have a glass globe with little lights inside that I like to turn on when I sit out there. Well, I forgot it was there and hit the table with the air from the blower and that thing hit the deck and shattered in a million pieces! I finished the deck and moved down to the patio. There was a plastic gallon of distilled water there. I went to move it and as soon as I touched it, it literally exploded with water everywhere and little pieces of plastic all over! :o I guess it was out in the heat and sun way too long! Then I accidentally aimed the blower on a large pot of dirt I had plants in last year. Dirt everywhere!!! I cleaned all that up and started on the driveway. After getting a lot of the dust and grass blowing back up in my face when I blew into the corners, I finally got done! Whew! I guess I shouldn't use a leaf blower after a tiring day at work! I took a shower right after and the bathtub was just filthy after I got done! My eyes feel gritty and irritated as well.

Need to find something for dinner and then probably go to bed early.

Here are some photos of the mess...

after...they mow it right down to the ground. They will reseed in a couple weeks for the winter grass.

the streets are a mess while they are scalping. They clean this up later.

Birdie, it was good to see you. It's been too long. I'm watching the news and you will probably have a front coming through about midnight with some wind. Hopefully tomorrow you will have clear sailing. They are talking about temperatures in the 50's in a couple of days. That will be different.

I can pick up my motorhome tomorrow. I will have to call in the morning to see if I can get a campsite. I might be out of luck at this late date.

Anita, ATT wouldn't transfer my photos and contacts when I got my new phone and I wasn't sending them to a cloud. A friend told me how to move my pictures to my computer. I am slowly rebuilding my contacts. There was a lot on stuff of my old phone that I didn't need anyway.

Beth, your pictures at Bryce Canyon were beautiful.

Sue, I ordered a couple of shirts from Macy's website on sale. I'll let you know how they are. I hope they aren't the thin material most clothes are made of now.

went for a "few" things chiefly because we were out of milk so picked up a few other things Dot's pretzel sticks were in but not the original flavor.... so didn't get it but Beth have you tried the one that said something mustard? I really like the original flavor as does mom... don't know what is going on at the store but so often this summer half and half has been out today there was just 2 containers.... of fat free half and half Shamrock brand so more expensive but we do enjoy it with our cereal ... stopped to Aces to get light bulbs but the one for the table lamp I got was way to big and I still think the bulb I got was too dim although brighter than the one I took out it's LED was told that they usually are brighter and that for inside I'd want soft light hmmm perhaps he was wrong and I wanted the other type... oh well either will do something else or will get used to it... suppose to cost only a 1.00 a year and last 22 years... like we will be around to see right ???
other than that didn't accomplish much at all other than read some magazines trying to find a recipe that I wanted to try have yet to find it....
need to get gas before the end of the month my gas points are up to 40 cents off per gal so want to use them lol
you all have a good day
