Sunday September 19

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Sunday September 19

Morning All, up early, enjoying morning coffee. No news just opening the kitchen. I have a cricket in my herb container. Now why would it fly up to the second floor and eat in my garden. I chased it away but it was back last night. Judy, glad you made it to Williamsburg without mishap. Spent sometime yesterday shredding paper. Don’t know if the shredder sound carries and is annoying so will do a little every day. Time for another cup. Be safe

Morning Shirl and all. Nothing exciting here this morning either. Sun is shining, supposed to be in 70’s I think, maybe 80 but after tomorrow we will head I to to fall weather they say. Much cooler temps and Lake effect rain showers. Fall color is starting to show a little here and there. Mostly in a definite yellow hue in the trees. We are a good two weeks from peak color around here, but once the cooler temps arrive, things will really start progressing.

I took a ride to the northeast side of the state yesterday, to check out this Apple/cider mill place I hear about. Took the dogs with me. Wasn’t overly impressed with it although thry make wood fired pizza and seems everybody was ordering it. They also Have bakery with all kinds of delectables, everything apple of course. I had some apple crisp, wasn’t bad. Wasn’t impressed with the cider though. I’ll head over to my favorite place the NW side later on. They make the best cider and baked goods as far as I’m concerned. But it’s was a nice drive. On the way home we swung by Aloha State Park and walked the campground. The dogs love that, so many smells to check out. Saw a couple beautiful red leaved trees and some others on the verge of turning yellow.

My trailer rolled out of here, off to other adventures with it’s new owner on Friday and I rolled off to the bank, as she paid me in cash and I didn’t want to have all that money in the house over the weekend. I actually feel a sense of freedom, not having to take care of or maintain a trailer anymore. Am now deciding on how I want to proceed with the next stage of my plan. I’m also looking at a resort in the UP to go spend a few days, but not committed yet. Delta is on the loose up there as is around here, so might just stay home, although most of my exploring avoids crowds. And I’m outdoors.

Guess I should head for the shower and see if I accomplish anything today. Need to make an online order to LL Bean, Lands End and one other place. Time to replace some wardrobe around here. Also need to do a load of laundry and change my bed.

So have a nice day everyone :)

Morning Shirl and Sue. I am up early also having my favorite coffee of the day, you know that first cup. Gives me a pulse and a blood pressure LOL Got home yesterday from down south. Didn't do too much so today I need to get some housekeeping chores done. Laundry, vacuum, put stuff away and basically tidy up the house. I am not fond of clutter and right now I have some clutter I need to deal with.

Still not sure what to have for dinner, will have to poke around my freezer and see what tickles my fancy. I have a few do ahead meals in there so might just end up putting a dent in them.

The big news is we still have a light rain falling off and on. I will take it....better than nothing. We need like a week long storm with a couple of inches but I know that isnt in our future as it is warming up again this week. Hopefully just the last hurrah of summer.

Well off to get the laundry started then my second cuppa joe and the chores can begin LOL

Good morning all. Yesterday is over and hoping today brings better vibes my way! I ended up getting a new battery for Lola yesterday if for nothing else but peace of mind. I didn’t realize how long I had had the old one! How time flies! So it really didn’t owe me anything. House batteries (deep cell) were okay but need a good run to get them up to a good level again. Good idea to take photo of insurance card! But, yes, I still like to have a paper copy in the glove box! So now just load last minute things and we should be ready to roll! Shelia, I feel for you. It’s not easy being a caretaker. Been there and done it. Sue, apple cider is popping up around here too. Maybe the end of next week I can get over to my favorite market and get some. Depends on the weather! It’s a pretty drive and I’d rather do it on a sunny day. Rascal finally has an appointment next Friday to get groomed. At last! He sure needs it. It was interesting earlier this morning when I heard a whole flock of birds carrying on. Enough that I went out back to see what was going on and was just in time to see them chasing the hawk! He must be hanging around the area and they don’t like it! Now it’s quiet again with just the normal bird sounds! Judy, glad you were able to get to Williamsburg. Strange that the beltway didn’t have a lot of traffic but then maybe people decided to stay home or avoid it so it was good for you for whatever reason! Hope you can get rid of the mattress decorating your hallway! Okay, time to go get showered and get my day going! Hope you all have a good day.

Good Morning, I had planned to go have my new phone set up but woke up feeling ''unperky" so will wait. Lunch and a nap will probably be soon. Apple cider does sound good I will have to go to the farm store tomorrow to see if they have any yet. Also persimmons are ripe so will definitely start looking. A friend has three trees that I hope I can beat the deer to. I'm still really nervous about tomorrows MRI and will be glad when it is over. I rather expected them to cancel as there are so many covid cases in the area. There was even an article in one of the Chicago papers about how bad it is here and if anyone needs an ICU bed the nearest is a 5 hour drive, if they have an ambulance available to take you. The county I live in is the only one where people have been the most receptive to the vaccine and mask wearing. The rest of the areas vaccine numbers are very low and the covid rates and deaths are extremely higher. Another reason for my concern about the MRI is I know that many of the nurses/staff have not been vaccinated and some are not wearing their mask as they should. I am assertive enough though if someone isn't wearing their mask I will ask them to put it on!

Sue I know you are both relieved an a bit sad about your trailer. I'm sure you will find other adventures when the time is right.

Sue, your trip sounds nice. Sugar would love it if I would take her somewhere. Still holding out hope for next weekend. I looked up polo shirts on Land's End web site yesterday. My favorite shirt is a polo and they are hard to find good ones in the stores. I probably don't need more clothes but like to look. My son is wanting some lined jeans. No more cold weather than we have I wouldn't wear them. For some reason he stays cold all the time.

Sheila, hope your family comes through for you and you get a break. I know how brothers are. My sister and I had the full responsibility of taking care of our mother.

BJ, hope your MRI goes well. I have only had one on my knee and only went up to my shoulders in the machine. I think they would have to put me out if I had to have my head in there. It is hard to believe that there are medical staff that won't get vaccinated when they see what is going on. There was something on Facebook from the hospital where my sister lives. The ICU is full with every patient having covid and 0% being vaccinated. I should share it to her page. Her doctors have told her to get vaccinated but she hasn't . With her medical problems I doubt she could survive covid. I am going to get my second pneumonia and flu shot tomorrow.

I was late getting my dinner in the oven. I am cooking a turkey thigh and the last squash I have. I'm not sure what it is but put butter and brown sugar on it. It's probably the kind you make soup out of but squash soup doesn't sound good to me. I went and sprayed the tall grass on the corner so maybe we can see someone coming. It aggravates me that I'm the one that does it when my neighbor has a spray tank on his 4 wheeler. They are in just as much danger of someone hitting them on that corner as I am.

There are scattered showers on the radar but if we don't get any rain I might mow some later.

I just lost my whole post - guess computer thought no one needed to read it!

Shirl, we are pretty soundproof here. I did ask upstairs neighbor if the bass from my sound bar was rattling their floor. Guess not.

Sue, nice drive I'm sure. I live in a large apple producing area and never thought about cider!

BJ, hoping your MRI goes smoothly and personnel are careful. I think a MRI will be next for me and hadn't given the machine any thought - just want answers! The unvaccinated are certainly filling up hospitals and paying the price.

Sheila, my 92 year old aunt is 'suffering' her son's retirement. She's always been independent so his insistence on chauffeuring her is not to her liking! He's probably more of a road hazard than she would be - he drives soooo slow, always has. You'll be on your way soon!

Couple of football games to watch so will do chores during commercials (which there are way too many of) and at halftime.

Just a quick pay to say I'm missing apple orchards. Last fall I stopped in Wisconsin early October and went to the apple orchards in gusts Gays Mills near where I lived for several years. I love going there in the fall. And my sister ensured me yesterday that she's heading back there soon. She gets lots of apples and makes all sorts of things. Fresh apple cider from the orchard is the only time I get and enjoy it.

Shirl, crickets are supposed to bring good luck, according to Asian tradition.

My dad lived on an apple orchard for a few years when my parents divorced and I spent the summers there (I was about 8 when he moved there). There was another family who also lived there and I became good friends with 2 of their daughters. We had so much fun on that farm! :D Those memories are the best of my childhood! There is a small town of Oak Grove just northeast of LA at the base of the mountains that is known for their apple orchards. I had planned to take a day trip up there last year at this time but the Apple Fire hit that area and the whole area was evacuated. I would like to go up there this year but not sure I can afford it right now.

They just found the remains of the young woman from Florida who disappeared in Utah, and her fiance showed up back in FL without her. I knew he was guilty when he refused to cooperate with police and now is missing in FL. So tragic for her and her family! :(

I woke up this morning just in time for church. Luckily they had the sound and wifi working today. This new minister is really good but he gets a little over my head sometimes talking about quantum physics. :?

I got up after that and went out to the porch and removed 5 throw blankets, 2 chair covers, 2 beach towels, pillow cases, a couple of Lola's small blankets, and a comforter that I had stored out there that were covered in dirt and dust. I brought them to the laundry room and washed them all. Now need to decided what to keep and what to get rid of. I always say, you can't have too many throws, but I think I may have too many now. That made a big dent in the mess out there! Then I closed all the windows and was able to get them all completely closed! Yay! Still have a lot of boxes and bins to go thru but it looks so much better now! Not so overwhelming to clear out the rest of it now. At least I won't have more dust and debris blowing in there.

Tomorrow I will contact one or two temp services and see what I can do there, before I head to work.

Have a good night!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

before I forget cause I do that so easy... Barbie the young women's body was found here in Teton Ct in the Bridger-Teton National Forest...by here Wyoming  they had been in Utah but when she went missing it was here in Grand Teton National Park .... I've also have wondered about his "innocence" as if you are then why not talk even if it is with a lawyer present... it's lucky that they found her body there are wolves and bears out foraging trying to put on weight for the winter at least I would assume that the wolves would be putting on more than normal...
it was my normal Sunday to church home had visitors so after they left went to have "breakfast" at 12 when the door bell ran and it was the bishop so chatted a bit (he was just checking to see how mom is) so I thought to ask if he knew how to turn on the pellet stove I thought I'd done what the brother said to but guess I hadn't so checked things out got it to running but we sure don't feel in in this part of the house... it was just us for supper... I got involved in something not sure what it was about 6 mom asked what we were having for supper... oops the potatoes were baked so tossed the chops on and just had to microwave the corn (reheat) I don't know it seems like to me that stuff in the microwave don't stay as hot I much prefer cooking on the stove... if I was in my trailer I'd make me a cup of hot chocolate but it's after 11 sorta late perhaps.... I usually try to go to the bedroom around now however with chat I get on the computer later on Sunday and I did get a nap... needed it
so I will go one more place and then off to the bed room got to play at least one game...
you all have a great day

Sheila, our little pellet stove will drive us out of the bedroom, even on low. So we place a fan facing out the bedroom door, facing down the hall, which pushes heat towards rest of house. You might try that.

my mom is so used to having it cooler read that out and out cold!!!! that it doesn't really phase her me I am cold and will admit it of course she is wrapped up with a blanket not that she is cold mind you she just likes a blanket over her that is almost a quote of what she said to a friend earlier...
as to the fan it might work but I'm not sure that the angles of the door would allow it... and then the fan would add to her electricity bill... :o and even while in the same room as the pellet stove it doesn't seem to put out that much heat I was somewhat surprised

Sheila-because fans do not heat, they use very little power. Not sure what you mean by angle of door? I just set a fan on floor near doorway blowing direction of where I want heat to move. Not a big fan, just one to direct air flow. My battery power Ryobi fan with rechargeable battery runs 6-8 hours on low.

the pellet stove is in "the new section" at the far south end in a corner so it's angle is to me off in way it projects... then there is a dining room then the living room with the entrance to it at the west part of the dining room so lots a space for it to heat before it even gets to the living room... hope that makes some sense

Yes, it makes sense. I can tell you our pellet is in master bedroom, not lined up with door but more facing room. When I run it and face a fan in doorway, down the hall, the air goes down a long hall, makes a L turn down another hall, then left into living room. I have seen temp go up 3-5 degrees in living room using one little fan. Worst that can happen is no increased temp, but if it works, it works
