Saturday, Sept 18, Dance Day

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Saturday, Sept 18, Dance Day

WOW! I didn’t know Dance Day existed….back in the day every day was dance day! On the down hill stay of animal care for family. Man I used to do this every year, but this year I am feeling every minute of my inactive lifestyle! Need to fix that and soon. We have a cool front that is to start arriving this afternoon. Will take a few days to get here. Then night temps in the 60’s and day in the mid 80’s. I definitely need to hit the road and see if I can snitch another long sleeved shirt. I only have one with me - what was I thinking? Obviously either nothing or that 60 & 70 were not cold! Let’s pick the latter.

Planning on seeing Martha on my way home if something doesn’t blow in from the Gulf. Looks like two nights on the road. Getting a tire replaced Monday, then I think I am ready. Well, got to load up. Take care and be safe.

Dance Day? They continue to come up with all kinds of “days” it seems! But dancing through the day might be an uplifting way to spend ones day! I went out to the RV yesterday to sanitize my fresh water and decided to check under the hood and all. Levels all good but she didn’t want to start! I used the emergency start and ran it for awhile, shut down and decided to try again. No luck with any of it. So I have the charger on it now and hope I can limp into the auto parts store and have them check all 3 batteries! Memo to self, not good to not take a ride once in awhile! And guess this heat has been to much for the batteries. I’ve kept myself housebound for way to long. Went looking for the paperwork on the batteries but pretty much knew they’re out of warranty and happened to decide to check my registration and current insurance card. Registration there but insurance card no where to be found! So jumped in the car at 4:20 and ran to the insurance office less then half a mile before they closed. Did I mention I need toner for my printer? Nice lady printed a card for me so made sure to get it right out in the right place! Young Son would be sure to be told if one of the other troopers stopped me no I didn’t have it and he would give me heck! So it was just a comedy of errors yesterday! It was suggested to me that maybe this trip wasn’t meant to be but darn it, I’ve been waiting for this one last jaunt before winterizing and reservation was made last September! Okay, that’s my rant for the day! You can laugh now and I’m sure I will someday! Hope you all have a great day!

Afternoon All, the weather is same ole. On a positive note I think the heavy traffic is over for the year. Sharon, you took care of what needs to be done so go camping and enjoy yourself. Birdie, I hear you. I’m looking forward to cooler weather so I can walk outside again. I walk in the air conditioned hall during the week when most people are at work. I can’t wear a mask, breathe and walk at the same time and many tenants do not wear a mask. Fall crops are still alive in spite of continued heat. Guess walking back and forth with jugs of water is exercise. :) Will try to find something constructive to do today. Be safe

Sharon, the coach batteries should be good as they started it when you used the emergency start. But it doesn't hurt to have all checked. I laughed about your scrambling looking for your insurance stuff. I believe I have all mine saved on my phone just in case, but like having the insurance cards in my glove boxes.

Tomorrow will be a zoo here cleaning rooms. Busiest day on a couple months. Fingers crossed that I don't get any total slobs (had a pretty bad one today, but only 3 rooms, so wasn't a big deal like it will be with a bunch of rooms).

It's been raining off and on this afternoon, sometimes drizzling and sometimes a downpour. I need to get Ty out sometime so listening for a stop then I'll not go too far if I think it might be starting again.

Good afternoon. Came home today from Medford, was raining moderately when I left but 35 minutes up the road the rain almost quit and I could see patches of blue sky. A few more miles and it totally quit and was a very nice drive home. Not much traffic and never rained on me again. I was very happy to see the rain but dont like driving in it much with all the overspray. Sprinkled here for about an hour but I dont really call this RAIN.....yet. We are going to be 86-90 on Friday so fall isnt here in this neck of the woods yet.

Got my eye appts out of the way for another 6 weeks. Had fun with my friend, we BBQ'd steaks last night so had a really good dinner. I helped her with a few small projects while I was down there so all in all it was a very good visit.

Going to check out a few recipes this afternoon and see if I can find something different to fix for a change.

Sharon I just print my insurance cards and policy from their website. I have copies in my car and house.

Good afternoon!

I do believe it is happy dance day here! Several teen boys clearing the unlandscaped area of debris - dead grass, construction garbage, branches etc. I hope this means there will soon be sod! Their work is harder because they don't have many wheelbarrows so are doing a lot of back and forth walking with handfuls.

It is quite cool here, but even though the radar has shown rain over us at times for the last 24 hours, haven't seen any! Some of the fires got rain which is great news. I sorted our box of keepsakes into separate boxes yesterday and hung 3 pictures!! One is an embroidered prayer my grandmother gave me in the early 50s. The other 2 are small crewel - I bought the kit, couldn't get the hang of it so Steven did them!

Birdie, glad you are having some visits and wishing you a safe trip home. Nice reward, Beth! Martha, my cousin's daughter got an Australian Shepard and I feel so sorry for it. They live in town and that poor dog never gets to run. It needs a job and would protect my uncle from my aunt! Beautiful dog.

Haven't accomplished much today so better get at something!

Dust Day for me! :o

I wanted to get up at 7am to get started on the porch but didn't make it out of bed until 8:30. Got started with junk and boxes and got them all cut up and put in my car. Got the trash and took it all to the dumpster. I brought a tension shower rod I found in the porch, with me to hold up the lid on the dumpster to save my shoulder from having to hold it up. It worked great! Got it all dumped and then decided to take my leaf blower and try to blow out as much of the dirt and dust in the porch as I could with that, even tho there is still a lot of bins and boxes out there. I had on a mask all morning and then eye protection while using the blower. Large clouds of dust blew across and out the windows and open slider. It is still dusty in there but not nearly as bad as it was. Had to take a shower right after that since I was covered from head to foot with dust and dirt! I can still feel some in my eyes. I have all the windows open out there for now. Will do more sorting and cleaning tomorrow morning and then get the windows closed before the end of the day since Monday is lawn scalping day. Hoping I can get all the windows shut. I know one is stuck open. May have to call Dave to come help me with that tomorrow.

I talked to the owner (the wife) at work about increasing my hours again. She said that business has slowed way down lately and they can't give me more hours right now. She suggested I look for another part time job and said she will adjust my work shift to work around hours for the other job, if necessary. I need to do something soon. I don't make enough extra per month to cover my taxes and registration tags in November and December. I might check with a couple temp services around here on Monday and see what they have available that I might be able to do.

Am taking a break now, had lunch and watched a sad Gunsmoke episode I hadn't seen before. Now I will start on the bin full of papers here in the living room. And do some reading later. I am way behind on my books I've started!

Have a good day!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

I haven't been dancing today but thinking about going fishing if it ever cools off. I better find a can of off if I go.

Sharon, hope your battery problem doesn't keep you from going camping. I carry a battery charger/starter in the motorhome. I probably should have some jumper cables but if I can get the generator started I can charge the engine battery.

I'm bad about leaving my insurance cards on my desk so started putting them in my wallet hoping I will remember to put them in the vehicle. Not many times that I forget my purse. I should take a picture of them. If I ever got stopped I would probably be so nervous I couldn't find them. I have only ever been stopped by the police twice. My boss and I were going to a seminar in Florida in a rented car. The cop said he stopped us because we had paper plates. I didn't know what he was talking about. It was because the car had one of the cardboard temporary license. Guess he thought we were hauling drugs. The second time I was coming back form Texas where the speed limit is usually 70 on roads that should only be 55. When I got to a long bridge the speed limit dropped to 55 and I was probably going 60 so a cop stopped my sister and I. The little renewal tag that goes on the license was in my purse and not on the license. I had to get out and put the sticker on the license and he gave me a warning. Speaking of that, I think I have the sticker for my Honda in my purse now.

Anita, I know better than to get a working dog now because we have had so many over the years. The reason we had an Australian Shepard was because the wife of a friend of Harold's in Texas told us if we didn't take Tinker Bell there was going to be a divorce. Australian Shepards are hard headed and she only did what she wanted to. She was a sweet dog and ended up being mostly a pet. My son was about 7 and he would hook his red wagon to her and throw cookies so she would pull him. That was a family joke for a long time because she almost pulled him through a barbed wire fence. Sugar is a heeler but I don't think she ever worked cattle. She doesn't pay any attention to the cows. About as close as she ever comes to hearding anything is me. She will walk back and forth in front of me if we aren't going the way she wants to go. Yesterday the weather channel was showing rain over Washington, Oregon and Northern California. I was hoping you all were going to get rain.

The last time I went to Walmart I found a frozen dinner of Butter Chicken. I had only had that once at an Indian Restaurant. I had that for lunch and it was pretty spicy. I am use to spicy but it was almost too spicy.

I have received 4 messages from Whitney Bank that my card is restricted. I don't have a card with Whitney Bank. I keep blocking them and they change the number by one and send it again. GRRRRRRRR I guess they find people that will respond to their crap but I wouldn't even call them back if I had an account. It is really easy to block numbers with my new phone.

Arrived at campground in Williamsburg about 5 pm today. I looked at everyone's suggestions and decided that since I was close to Gettysburg, that I would take the western route, sort of. So at 10:15 am, I headed down to Leesburg on the road from Gettysburg. Only problem is something I experienced a few times and need to remember when planning travel drives, especially long ones--the weather was sunny and gorgeous and the temps were moderate, so everyone seemed to be out for a weekend drive!! Roads that are no doubt fairly un-busy on a weekday, were packed and it took a long time to get through some towns with stoplights!!

It took me two hours to drive the first 64 miles, so after listening to the radio and realizing that the protest group in DC was a lot smaller than they had feared, I cut over to to the beltway after all. Not busy at all, but had problems with one tollbooth that wanted either an express pass or $3.25 in coins only, believe it or not!!! People with the express passes were zooming past, while those of us who were out-of-towners were stuck in a line trying to figure out how to pay, and not being able to back up!! No credit cards accepted, except after reading several of the signs, i realized you could just drive through and they would bill you. One young man in front of me could not speak English and was completely lost because the sign was only in English!! He was walking around to other cars making gestures and holding up a bunch of dollar bills, trying to get help on what to do. I tried to tell him it was OK to drive through, but he did not understand, and finally an attendant came from the nearby building and gestured to him and told him to drive through. I luckily had the change and dropped it in the bucket, but DC has a ton of people from other countries and even more coming in from out of town, so this kind of exact change requirement and signs only in English do not make sense. The signs should at least be in at least 4 or 5 other languages!

The short piece of the beltway was OK, except about 5 miles south when I got onto I-95, there was an accident which messed up everything for a while. And just past Richmond, VA, on I-64 there was a several mile long backup, but luckily on the other side!!!! My side did just fine. Whew!

So, relaxing and had some dinner, so I feel a lot better. Need to remember to take Advil earlier in the day on such long drives so my back does not hurt so much.

Anyway, my back and shoulders are still sore from lifting and managing my old and new mattresses. The old one is still in my "hallway," but the campground owner is going to try to find either someone who will come and get it or a place I can take it.

actually made the cookies today... they are so good... working on doing a baby doll afghan for the great granddaughter so worked on trying to decrease the pattern down hopefully I've made it big enough at least the row going across that has the drop downs worked out after some undoing some of the rows... thought I had left over yarn so planned on using it went to get it and couldn't find it then remembered that I took it home the last time I was home... so using some of the yarn I have for the next afghan because it is for a doll doesn't have to be as big so think I can get by with just one skein hopefully and usually I buy more than needed so hopefully it will all work out in the end!!! we can only hope...
I told mom about the appointment for the infusion so she gets all quite and then asks me if I am doing the same for me as I am for her.... what?? she was wondering if I am making dr's appt for myself... I said I don't need and infusion and that I am just follow what I am told ... she replied back sure they aren't here to defend themself really upset me so I said that if she didn't want the infusion I'd cancel it and she can tell brother and sister in law why she isn't getting it... so then she is still upset I guess she made the comment that she ought to go put the cookies away (I'd put them in zip lock bags) I said there wasn't room in the freezer inside she said what about outside I said they have been turned off (I truly thought they had been knew that they had been emptied) so she gets up later and takes herself out to the garage to check the freezer's find them empty but still on... she was not happy to say the least when she came in she said I made be 94 but I still have my mind and I totally agreed with her... but also told her that the stuff in the freezer wasn't good that things freezer burn after awhile and I know that some of the stuff in them where 15 years old... she hasn't had a great night I feel bad for her my brother should have told her that they emptied them up I was using the calculator on the phone and she said what are you texting them and telling them I am upset I said no was on my calculator trying to figure out how many stitches I need glad that is what I was doing
I am so glad that I have just about 3 weeks left I need a break I think we shall get over this have pretty much had cookies and ice cream did I say the cookies are good????
I hopefully have the cards where they need to go one came while I was here so sent it with dd told her where to put it so hopefully it is there... now I'm not sure if it was the truck or the 5th wheel's
Safe travels Birdie and enjoy your visit with Martha hopefully the weather won't cause you troubles...
my phone is sure having issues so slow at times and it's pretty new... my youngest was trying to tell me how to do something but it totally didn't make sense to me...
hopefully Anita that the sod will be laid soon I'll bet besides it's being an eyesight it's also dusty...
you all have a good night
