it’s Thursday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

it’s Thursday

Postby Colliemom » Thu Sep 16, 2021 6:56 am

Good Morning all, It’s Thursday again and time marches on. Seems like we just had Labor Day and there’s only one more week of Sept. left before we start pushing into October. Fall is definitely settling in, here in northern Michigan and the U.P. Although we are supposed to have another burst of summer weather this weekend for a few days. We are having our morning fogs now as well as 40-50 degree nights and 60+ degree days. The fall color show is starting to appear in the U.P. And I see a branch here and there once in awhile down here. Reports from the western U.P. Is that fall color is mixed with some area rather drab and others more vibrant. Due to drought and heat in that part of the State.

My big news is that I sold my trailer yesterday. A nice older lady from one of the small towns about 30 miles east bought it. She is so excited. I’m really happy for her. Hasn’t picked it up yet but plan to do so possibly Friday or the weekend. She Has start from scratch getting it outfitted and I may leave my dishes if she wants them. I don’t need them at the house here because I got plenty. They are Corel they will be better for keeping in the trailer. Going to go through my stuff and see what I have that are duplicate parts, cute RV dishes towels etc. and leave some of it in the trailer. Sort of a house warming gift so to speak. But I am keeping my water hoses, my surge protector, my extra 30 amp power cord and all that stuff because that stuff is too expensive to just give away. Especially since the water hoses are brand new good quality, as is the surge protector. Karen, I decided to sell the trailer because I am getting tired of pulling a trailer around and dealing with the expense of keeping the thing in good shape and so forth. I don’t want to get up on ladders anymore to have to wash my roof and all that and I’m not using it as much as I was. I’m not saying that I am quitting camping or RVing, I’ve got a plan in mind and will see how it goes by next spring.

Beth, where are you planning to spend the winter? You have so many things on your plate, I’m losing track of where you are headed any more

Need to get out and go pick up some stuff from the grocery store and run couple errands, cut my grass and go through my camping stuff, get the title and bill of sale ready to go etc., so will be a busy day. Gues I had better get going on it. Have a nice day all.

Morning Sue and All, Sue, good news about the sale of your trailer. For me it was a relief and very sad. No news, just hanging out ar home. Anita, on the website for grocery pickup there was a place to check that I would be given a choice of substitutes then I would get an email of items so that I could approve or deny. Some substitutes were better than what I ordered. This is a short post because I went back and deleted all the really dumb things I typed. :) Be safe

Another cool 70* morning in east TX. Finished the big guy feeding. Need to feed ducks, but waiting on their announcement. Will be meeting a friend for lunch today. Have a slow leak on one of my RV tires, so have that to deal with. Haven’t figured it out yet. But need to work on getting something done with that this pm or tomorrow. Still haven’t decided to head for Florida on a north route or try the south route. You can’t always believe the news reports. I find I need to call the businesses directly. Hope to see Martha on my way home. Need to see when I will leave here and what is laying around out in the Gulf!

Sue, congrats on your trailer sale. Hope the land sale goes as smoothly. Shirl you should have a nice fall/winter produce section. Best of luck on getting them through. Beth keep warm!

My neighbors tell me I am missing a hoard of Black Swallowtail butterflies that have gone into chrysalis on my fennel. I just had another friend take some babies over and drop in the fennel. They may be chrysalis by the time I get there or not.

I got my fall flu shot last Saturday. I normally get it in mid September as it takes about 2 weeks for it to be ready to fight for you! Expect to get my booster C19 in mid October. That will be 8 months. Now isn’t that all exciting.

Have fun, be safe!

Too tired to post last night. Update: Picked up my mattress, but box turned out to weigh 70 pounds instead of 50 pounds. I had the guy put it in a shopping cart and managed to roll it into side door of motorhome and slid it in. Got set up at new state park campsite, then took 3" old memory foam topper from old bed, cut it into two heavy pieces and put it in nearby dumpster. (Thank heaven dumpster was nearby.) Finally grabbed old mattress and managed to move it into "hallway" across from my bathroom and left it there. Then dragged incredibly heavy, new rolled-up mattress and tipped it onto bed platform. Then cut off plastic and it popped open. All this was really past the limit of my strength but did it anyway. Got mattress in right place and put bedding on it. Whew!

So, I still have mattress in hallway across from my bathroom and leaning up against bunk/dinette. It is too big for dumpster, so first task today is to call around and find place I can take it. I am willing to even pay someone to take it, but it can stay where it is for a day or two.

I was going to go to Gettysburg today, but have postponed that until tomorrow. Mattress is nice, but a little too firm for me, so I will get a 1" topper for it. It is very lightweight, which is what I wanted, but without bedding, it tends to allow the lift mechanism that gives me access to underbed storage, to lift it up! A think topper will solve that, I think. Had a fairly good night's sleep, but muscles sore today.

Shirl, now we are going to wonder what you deleted.

Sue, congratulations on selling you trailer so fast. If my sister didn't camp with me I think I would go down to a van camper. I'm getting tired of driving the one I have and it's only 28 feet long. I brought it to the shop on the 7th and it seems like they started working on it today. The shop owner called me to ask me some questions this morning. I thought our next campout was this weekend but it's next weekend. If they don't have to order parts I might get it back in time. If I can get a reservation. There are so many people displaced from the hurricane that the campgrounds are full.

Birdie, hope you can get your tire fixed. I lucked out a couple of months ago. I always check my tires before I head out and one was low. There was a bolt in it that just happened to be on top where I could see it. I stopped and got 2 new tires. My back tires were 5 years old so 3 weeks later I got 2 more. I figure I'm good for 5 years. 70 degrees sounds good. It only got down to 77 last night and now it's 90. I was thinking about walking when it was 80 but I wasn't dressed and I messed around too long.

Judy, you had a work out. I'm glad you finally caught up with your mattress. A 40 pound bag of cat food is about my limit.

I don't know what I'll do today. Probably the usual nothing. The radar shows scattered showers all around but it hasn't rained here yet.

Sue, I can’t believe you are finished with camping. Not with your love of the UP.
Judy, what an ordeal. And Martha, My weight limit is 15 lbs. Although, that is nothing.
Beth, you might say you are picky, but I don’t believe it.
Karen, sounds like you enjoy Medford.
Now Sequoia Nat’l Park is on fire. Unbelievable.

Good morning!

Sue and Judy, congrats on things going right! :) I remember cutting up a foam topper. Birdie, decisions, decisions! Shirl, I wish we had the option to approve substitutions. Instead it's same brand, different size or different brand, same size. Hope your family aren't hit with bad weather. My weather app has a hurricane icon when there's a threat so I follow that to keep tabs on the South.

Got up early to go for bloodwork so I could come home to have coffee and breakfast before PT. Then got a call that therapist isn't going to be in - again! I see the doctor Tuesday so will leave the next step up to her. Shoulder goes from good to bad. A chilly ride at 47 degrees, but only a couple of miles. It has become cold weather way too fast and now days of rain predicted.

Enjoy your day!

Yes, it is, unfortunately, Lyn.

It would be a very great tragedy indeed should these ancient - and magnificent - old Giant Sequoias burn. Some of them threatened by this fire are estimated to be more than three-thousand years old.

I pray that they might be saved.

I am working on a fire update on this fire (the KNP Complex Fire), as well as on the other major fires in California that have continued to burn for a very long time, now. The Dixie Fire ignited on July 13, more than two months ago - and, as of this morning, it still continues to burn.

Will post the fire update to the KDP fire (with photos) in the "More New Fires In California" thread (https://womenrv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=18948&start=60) a bit later today.

However, the links leading to the updates are updated daily by InciWeb, so the information under these links remains current day-by-day.

Good morning (afternoon for those of you east of here)!

Nothing too exciting here. My shoulder has been feeling really good for the past week or so, thankfully! However, now my left knee has pain. Am using the CBD balm on that now. At my age, it is always something.

Went to sleep around 12:30 last night and didn't wake up until 11am this morning. Not sure why I am sleeping so much lately. Maybe the stress of worrying about money.
Yesterday I was feeling pretty down all day. After work, I felt like I needed some retail therapy (I know, not the best idea when dealing with money issues  ). I had to stop at WM for a couple things so I made myself a deal that I would buy one thing for myself that was at least practical. I found a beautiful bath robe that is teal with tan faux fur around the collar and opening in front. It is soft and fuzzy but also very light weight (don't need a thick heavy one out here). I have been looking for a new bathrobe for awhile but never finding one I liked. So I bought this one. :D I love it! So that perked me up and I didn't feel too guilty about it!

Sue, I can understand not wanting to do the trailer thing anymore. I got tired of the hitching and unhitching. Now I just want to get in, turn the key, and go. Maybe you can find a nice used Class B or converted van for your occasional trips.

I feel so bad about all the fires all over. So much of California I want to see yet and it is all going up in flames! Every year gets worse. So sad!! Of course, not to forget about all the people and wildlife being affected and losing their homes and lives in all this as well.

My limit with lifting things is about 15-20 pounds at the most. I can barely lift a small box of kitty litter now. And that is with my good arm.

I also need to get my flu shot soon. Maybe next time I go to WM.

Time to get ready for work...
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

The saleslady at Brad and Hall called me this afternoon to find out if the mattress had arrived. She made the mistake of asking me how I was. I told her I was recovering, and that I wanted her to know that I could never recommend that anyone buy anything from Brad and Hall.

I then lit into how I was sore all over from trying to lift the 70 lb package I had been told would weigh 50 pounds, and my struggles to get it into my motorhome and then back the bedroom and onto the bed so I could unroll it. Also, about having to struggle at age 78 to remove the old mattress from the bed platform and store it in my "hallway," and how all this could have been prevented if she had done her job properly. Had my mattress been made on time and sent to my son's house as promised, he could have done all the heavy lifting, etc.

Then I told her that I once worked in customer service, and proceeded to list what she should have done that would have prevented this. (I spoke in a calm voice, which amazed me.) Told her she should never have given me a 2-3 week incorrect delivery date without checking with the factory, and that she should have been routinely checking at least once a week on the status of ALL her orders to make sure they were on schedule, etc. And how she should have been talking to the factory and given them my Sept 5th original deadline and my Sept 10 final deadline for leaving for Gettysburg. I said she needed to make major improvement in communication or she would lose a lot more future orders from customers. I told her that the key to satisfying customers is setting realistic expectations and doing what they promise.

She was apologetic, but I told her that her mistakes affected people--that they were not just things that affected her and the company. For example, people make plans based on delivery estimates or promises, and people like me end up going way out of my way and pay physically for her and the factory's mistakes.

Actually, I am pretty proud of myself for speaking calmly and clearly explaining how she screwed up, without being angry!!!

Congrats, Sue, on the fast sale. I hope when you're ready you can find something perfect for you. Martha, when I quit workamping, or shortly after, I want to downsize to a van or smaller b or c again where I can travel without a toad again. The problem is the cost of those van campers! It'll be a couple years, you all know I have jobs the next two summers. Hopefully some used ones will come on the market and the market will become a buyer's market by then.

Judy, good for you. But she should have offered you a discount even now after your talk. I promise I won't purchase from them. I had trouble when I purchased my mattress a few years ago, but nothing like your problems and all things I expected.

Anita, maybe the doctor can recommend someone else for your pt.

Shirl, don't delete, love it all.

Judy I do appreciate someone who can be the adult. I think that some Customer Service folks discount the angry irrational customer but the calm one is the one to be respected and feared. Sorry that your pain came back BJ. You were sounding hopeful and beginning to to eat again.

Health wise I have some better days than others and some days to myself anyway I still resemble a slug. But just like last year before the Gallbadder and pancreas blew up…. In hindsight I can pull out issues that were probably symptoms but I had never been over 70 before so how do you figure out what is a real symptom and what is normal for an older body?

The dogs do motivate me to keep moving better than anything. We are leaving in the RoadTrek again tomorrow for a UKC dog show in NW Ohio. I had the propane filled yesterday but I guess I will be camping without a refrigerator. It is the original one and 20 years old so I will check it out next week and see if it is just operator error but if not replacing it with something functional won’t come as a surprise to me or the pocket book. Oh and I also went on line an found my favorite campsite down on Dale Hollow Lake in TN, was available for three nights in the beginning of October so I took it.

In my mind I have worthwhile projects I could dedicate my time too, but I try to celebrate short lists of accomplishments each day ( some shorter than others) and then allow myself to read or research random dog things or train some one for a little bit and say enough. Thank goodness I am retired and no one but the dogs have expectations for me….though my daughter does cheer me on and she encourages Lark to keep me In shape so I can still keep up with her on at least some shorter hikes when I visit NC.

as I read how Shirl deleted cause she thought it boring I thought no don't delete so glad that all are with me so Shirl read our lips
DO NOT DELETE!!!!
I should know better than to leave something undone .... mopped the kitchen floor left the bucket for the floor to dry so I could dump the water down the sink (if I'd been thinking would have tossed it outside but wasn't thinking) so preceded to sit down and waste time later mom got up to go I assume to the bathroom when I went out to the kitchen the water was dumped and the mop on the deck... it's doing things like that that hurts her back... and I should have known better!!!
besides doing the floor I cleaned out the microwave and bathroom...
not sure what is what with my phone couldn't get on YouTube today Facebook nah if it had comments couldn't read them pictures couldn't see them and coloring was something else finally turned off the phone for awhile somethings worked better although I still couldn't watch what I wanted on on You Tube... don't know if the internet is super slow cause at times it says I wasn't hooked up to the internet but should have been unless I did something dumb who knows not me... although I had been able to send text would need to be on internet to do that right?
went way over board for supper ... chili dogs I know again??? well left over's so no more hot dogs for awhile...
Sue that was quick work very glad for you
glad you got your mattress Judy but I sure couldn't have done any that you did
