Pleasant Saturday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Pleasant Saturday

Postby Shirlv » Sat Sep 11, 2021 10:03 am

Morning All, another low humidity day. I planted kale, lettuce and herbs yesterday. Felt good to play in the dirt. Saw a video of a container plant that had a tomato cage and a very large plastic trash bag covering a plant. That will work nicely on the balcony and I might have fresh veggies all winter. Of course Amazon has large pricy trash bags but I will research that item more. Had a notice stuck in the door from management. Someone in the complex has or has been exposed to Covid. Not sure if it’s true or their way of trying to encourage mask wearing. Martha, I use DirectTv/stream, if you have WiFi you have tv. Would think it would be convenient when traveling. It isn’t any less expensive but doesn’t need boxes or antennas. I usually watch on my IPad although I can watch on the smart tv. I sit the iPad on a lap desk while in the recliner. Old timers way to watch tv. Lol I’m really searching for something to post. Be safe

Good morning, Shirl.

Glad you have (maybe) found a way to grow fresh veggies all winter, sorry to hear about someone's (maybe) Covid exposure in your complex.

Shirl, please don't worry about what you post. I very much enjoy reading your "dailies". I actually think the (isolated) life you are currently living probably isn't a lot different than most of our lives on here. (LOL - although Barbie and Sheila's seem a bit more "exciting" than most  ).

I'm sure it encourages all of us on here to know that you are "dealing with it".

If you can do it, all of us can. :D

So please keep those posts coming.

Thanks.

Hello, Ladies,

Catching up to do - BJ, what a lovely card! When I saw it was your birthday, I immediately thought of the card you would get. Karen, you have indeed been a trooper over the last year. Totally different circumstances, but I can somewhat relate. Irmi, your casita is very nice! Shirl, hoping the weather starts cooperating with you! Beth, you have two exciting summers ahead of you! Barbie, I fear these shoulder issues will plague us! Interesting talk about squash and a reminder to think about using spaghetti squash again.

My FB memory came up today from 10 years ago when we had a gtg with Beth in Pennsylvania! That was also when I had to change my travel plans to New England with aftermath of hurricane coming north.

I get motivated and then something goes wrong and I lose it. I had dinner with the kids Monday and a PT appointment yesterday. Shoulder is much better although a little sore after a good PT workout. We had a slight rain yesterday - like Velda, every little bit is welcome. They are enforcing assigned parking here as of yesterday with one site per apartment unless you are in a garage (mine isn't ready yet) or undercover parking. I sent my car home with the kids when Monica got off work yesterday. Garage is to be done by October 8 - we'll see.

Good morning, nice and cool here this morning, but will be in the low 80's but I can definitely live with that. You all will be happy to know I got my shed painted finally. I still need to do the trim but that is with a brush so no issues with a breeze.

Shirl I dont know about you but I love reading what everyone is up to, so I dont care if it is real newsy or just how their day is going. So keep on posting gal. I dont have much going on today which is good because I am not feeling the motivation right now, maybe later or maybe not at all ha ha Anita sounds like you are getting settled in your apartment. Our circumstances were different but we were both starting over so that is similar. I am pretty well settled in and it feels good to not have so much on my agenda and not waiting for all the deliveries, the send backs, the put together furniture LOL Irmi sounds like she is getting settled also.

Anne, I would have lived on the edge and eaten the ice cream ha ha ha

Karen I’m glad you posted. Was afraid you got hit in the head by the shed door. Watching YouTube again and going to plant a pot of tulip bulbs. Think I will need a tulip or two by next spring. :)

I feel like all I take about is how many rooms I have each day. That's how exciting my days are. Lol I agree that I'm fine with everyone's news or non-news as the case may seem. Everyone here is complaining that it's too warm. I'm ok with the weather now. Today low 80's with upper 40's overnight. I love the night time temps. I do feel wasteful turning the heat on in the morning only to need the AC a bit later. But this body doesn't handle the cold when I get out of bed. Love it for sleeping, though. Ty is still sleeping under the covers so I know he thinks it gets cold overnight. He's so cute. He got up during the night and was sleeping on the top of the bed and all of a sudden he was nudging me to pull up the covers lol.

Anita, hopefully they'll have the garage ready before winter arrives.

Well. . . I have about two boxes of these cones left in my freezer - maybe 24 - 25 cones total.

I have resolved NOT to order any more once these are gone.

Of course, once these are gone and I'm hungry for ice cream again. . . all bets are off. Heh. 8-)

Life is too short not to eat ice cream. Youngest daughter texted me asking about dances of the 50’s. Had to search YouTube to send her a video of The Stroll. Oh! My! Does any one remember The Stroll. Really Good Times. :D

Posted on wrong day, so redoing this:

After my slide topper awning had been properly fixed yesterday, I took a two-hour nap. Woke up about 1 pm and relaxed rest of day. Stayed in their parking lot last night and slept in this morning, so I feel much better. Since i had abandoned my campsite to go back to Decatur, I had no place to stay tonight, so the Ohio Turnpike was my choice. It is really handy when you are on your way someplace and are just looking for a quick place to stay for one night. Cost is only $20, and it is really not that noisy because it is away from the big trucks. If I had not already planned dinner, I could have gone over to Panera, which is always a nice treat. Maybe I will pick up a sweet roll for breakfast at Starbucks tomorrow.

Tomorrow, I will spend with my son and his family, and then head east to another turnpike RV place for the night, the one almost to the PA border. Got a nice state park planned for Monday and Tuesday, then on to Gettysburg to stay just past there at Codorus SP for three nights. Then on to a week in Williamsburg, VA. Staying at a very expensive commercial campground, which I usually do not do, but got a weekly rate and can drive to Jamestown also from there.

Anyway, also got a Blue Beacon RV wash today and picked up a few groceries--like sugar and lemons for my iced tea!

I got my mowing done to get ready for the rain that we are suppose to get. It seems like all I talk about is mowing. That's my exciting life. They are still watching an area in the gulf and don't know what it's going to do. I went to town in the truck to fill it up with gas and 4 gas cans. One station I passed was out and the one I went to had bags on some of the pumps but I was able to get what I wanted. I stopped at the store to get eggs and found some peach ice cream. I still have half the Coconut Pie ice cream left but am tired of that. I only eat a half cup at a time.

Judy, you have been busy. I wanted to go back to Williamsburg because my trip there was too fast and we didn't get to see it all. Don't know that I will ever make it there again.

The only thing I remember about the Stroll is the name. I'll have to look on line. I wish I could remember the line dances I learned. A friend and I took lessons one time.

There is a lot of traffic on the road tonight. I wish I knew how to set up a camera so I could see outside at night.

I'm always afraid that what I say is boring as it's just usually a typical day...
Shirl what is a low humidity to you? Just curious as us in the west most places don't get much over 25 % unless it's raining or been raining... because of the long winters here to get tomatoes we use what is called oh sure awww here it comes.. Walls of Water... it's open at the top and bottom but has cylinders that you fill with water they heat up in the sun and provide warmth through the night...
we did go to the pot luck came back with a small amount of cole slaw and 1 piece of cake because of over indulging at the party we didn't have supper but did indulge in root beer floats found it tasty been such awhile since I've had one...
added my 3 rows onto the baby's afghan and a couple to that over sized pot holder to put under a hot pan I'd finish it if I would just sit down and work on it... need to work on the dish cloth... I want to have at least 4 for her I think I have one plus part of one  still a ways to go I have the yarn to work on an afghan when I get to Q and one more will finish my catch up then I will start on the grandchildren have 2 of the 14 done... they were wedding gifts... no one getting married soon though... did get a wedding invite for my great niece Oct. 1 it's not that far away should go but evening and not sure how I would get there it's over in Idaho... night time and I'm not sure I trust mom's car to go that far... it's the pass I am not sure about... but when you consider that I drove over 2 thousand miles round trip to go to a nephew and hour and half isn't far (one way) but I truly don't know her very well and I wanted to be with my husband's family on that occasion ... guess we will figure it out...
will hope that you have the garage before winter Anita... I just don't want to be here for winter
I would like to go to some of those sites Judy enjoy them for all of us

The last time I was in Gettysburg my kids were maybe 7 and 10.

Last time I was in Williamsburg, my oldest son was 10 months old and in a stroller. Not walking or talking yet, but a handful and very good at yelling. He was so loud in building tours that my ex and I had to take turns staying with him outside while the other went inside. Intent of expensive tavern lunch turned out to be a disaster!!! All in all, it was a memorable trip, but I can remember little of what I actually saw. I’m sure some of you had similar experiences. Thought it was time to revisit without babies!!!!

I love ice cream but get tired of the same flavor before I get done with the carton. Peach ice cream sounds wonderful! Schwan's used to have that and it was so sweet and creamy! They don't offer it anymore. :( I bought stuff for strawberry shortcake the other day. Have had a couple bowls of that today. Yum! I put the strawberries over angel food cake slices instead of those cheap soggy cups they sell for it.

I actually kicked butt on the living room today!! :o I worked for just over 4 hours straight going thru everything, organizing it all into different bins (by category) and also ended up with 4 garbage bags of trash. Now I just have to go thru each bin tomorrow and decide what goes and what stays and where to put it. My gourd stuff is all in one area but I will need to get that all organized too, but that will probably be another day. It feels good to get that much done! I found things I was missing and things I forgot I had. Then will be the porch project (once it cools off some)! That is a whole 'nother disaster area, mostly due to the thick dust and dirt that has collected on everything in there from the wind. Everything is coated with it. I am thinking of just using my leaf blower while wearing goggles and a mask to blow it all outside! Once that is cleaned up and organized, I need to keep the windows closed except for when I am out there and want to feel the breeze.

I have a couple haircuts to do tomorrow at noon. I can use the extra money right now. Need to get propane and gas before Monday.

Tuesday is the recall election here. I sure hope our current governor stays in office. The guy who would most likely get voted in if Newsome loses the recall, is really far right. Besides getting rid of all Covid restrictions, he wants to get rid of sex education in schools, and make abortion illegal. Great combination there! God only knows what else he will do! Crossing my fingers and toes for Newsome!

Anyways, gonna read here for a bit and then go to bed. Wore myself out today!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
