Labor Day Monday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Labor Day Monday

Postby Othersharon » Mon Sep 06, 2021 11:28 am

Afternoon ladies! Just after 12 here and sunny and bright outside. Definitely a fall day with bright sky and cool temps. I love days like today and just try not to think about what’s to come! Brrr! Had dinner with oldest son and family yesterday so no plans for today. Just labor outside doing this and that. Lots of weeds to pull. I think after the rains come they multiply! Got a few things done here in the house earlier so now that it’s a bit warmer it’s time to get out in the sunshine. Still need to get bags to the project so when the leaves start following I can refill them! Of course a walk for Rascal when we do that. That’s about all my no news is good news for me today! I hope you all have a great day and stay safe.

LOL. Lucky you. It was 107 degrees here at my house yesterday (a bit of a surprise when I went out to check the thermometer, because it wasn't predicted to get this hot). Probably be quite a bit cooler ('cooler' being relative. . .) today, might make 103 - 104.

Autumn is no where in sight here, but I DO like to "think about what's to come": namely (hopefully!) cool temps (LOL - maybe all the way down into the lower 60's at times!), a bit of rain (which won't be coming for several more weeks yet); with an end to our on-going fires I am looking forward to smoke-free days.

Sounds lovely where you live. I forget - what state are you living in?

Heh. I am living in a poor-ish state of mind at the moment.

Not much going on this morning. Thank goodness I mowed yesterday because it has been raining all morning and looks like there is more to come. At least it's only 73 which is nice for a change. When I went through town I noticed that the gas stations that had gas Friday were out. I think I'll start bringing a gas can with me so I can get extra when I find some. `

Rascal's mother Sadie had been missing for a week. She showed up yesterday skinny as can be. I was looking for her this morning but don't see her again. I think some of the other cats are mean to her.

Guess I'll go dig in the freezer and see if there is anything I feel like eating for lunch.

Afternoon All, another low humidity day. I tried sitting on the balcony but the traffic started backing up and I could smell fumes. I have read stories about old people shaking their fists and cussing traffic. I think I have turned into one. Don’t want to embarrass my children so came inside. I placed the Walmart order for tomorrow and made a list of plants to buy at a local nursery. Don’t feel like fooling with seeds since I only have containers. If I were allowed to hang a sheet of plastic balcony would be a little green house and I could sit out there all winter. I still have the little heater from the RV. Hummm! :) Buy a plant, you can talk to it all winter and no one will think you are talking to yourself. Be safe

Martha, I could eat cardboard for dinner if I have apple pie for dessert.

Good afternoon. Another super smoky day and it is heating up outside. Tomorrow I saw it was going to be 98....yikes. I am so ready for it to be Fall. My favorite season. Then I like late spring when it is time to plant lots of fun things. The rest, not so much.
So I got it together really early this morning and was at the grocery store at 7:30. I have been threatening to go for a couple weeks now. I finally have a couple of recipes I want to try so needed to get a few of the ingredients. I want to make chicken stir fry but didnt get the fresh veggies for that as I have other things to cook early this week. I'm having hot dogs for dinner tonight, made a small potato salad to have with it and I have ice cream for dessert LOL Just a nice quiet day. I would have finished painting today but really needed to get to the store. So maybe tomorrow if it isnt breezy in the morning because it is right now but we shall see. The storage shed is not going anywhere and neither am I for a while so I got time to paint.

I have finally gotten to my laundry! I should have done it on Saturday tho. Today it is 112* with a dewpoint of 71* so feels like a horribly hot sauna out there! One more trip to the laundry room to fold and pack up my laundry and get it home to put away. Got my AC running cold in here today!

Lola saw me moving my suitcase around (from my trip 2 weeks ago) so she is pouting. I need to find my step ladder so I can put it away on the top shelf in my closet so she doesn't see it anymore.

Went to fill water bowls outside with the hose and it burst. It is one of those flexible hoses. I love them but they don't last long. Need to put that on my list of things to get.

...forgot to send this so I am back to finish...

Got my laundry done. Just have to put it away now.

Also decided to make tuna salad. I started cooking the pasta but noticed it wasn't getting very hot after awhile. I looked under the pan and no flame :o I shut it off and turned it on again. Flame came on for a couple seconds and quit. I guess that means I am out of propane  . My only gas appliance is my stove/oven so I don't go thru propane very fast. I think I filled it just after I moved in here 2 years ago. Will have to bring the canister in this week to get filled.
So anyways, since I had already started making the tuna salad, I wanted to finish it, so I brought the pot of pasta over to my neighbor's house and finished cooking the pasta there. Now it is all done and in the fridge. I told her I would bring her some later.

So now two things I need to replace. :( Hopefully nothing else quits or breaks on me today.

Yikes, Karen. Went out about 4:30 to water my mums, seemed warmer that I expected it to be. Checked my thermometer - 110. One-hundred-ten degrees. In September. Ugh. A bit smoky outside as well - icing on the cake. :?

I, too, am SO ready for autumn. It is also my favorite season. Hope it finally gets here. I'm starting to think we might just go from summer to spring this year, and just skip autumn and winter altogether. :(

We had autumn for a few days last week. Now we could got 90 again the next couple days. Nothing like many of you are experiencing, but when sunny, it's too hot to be outside and there's little shade here. At least nights cool off which you aren't getting in California.

it has been quite the day... so ready to saw I accomplished something which I did
two loads of laundry vacuumed fixed supper took garbage out good think I didn't leave it for my dd to take down... she is working in town this week but didn't finish her laundry till 8 so will be over after work since the garbage is picked up tomorrow it needed to be down to the street by morning so goes out the night before... glad I did it as I had given thought to leaving it and letting her take it out in the morning...
Last night was working on my afghan and realized that I had issues some I'll over look but then there are others that just can't be over looked... so tore out 3 rows got them back in tonight ... went and got my phone from the charger and saw that I'd missed a called from my son in law he was towing his new to them TT and had major leaking going on tranny was leaking oil was leaking so it's either going to a shop or it's going to be traded in he had found a truck to tow their TT with so they are thinking that they can use my truck for trade in or whatever and then use that truck it's a 350F (my husband would roll over in his grave he wasn't a Ford man at all but then I'm not buying it right) they have a car that my grandson uses but he will be going on a mission soon so won't need it I will just have that car for my use... hopefully it will work... so tired of breakdowns but it's lasted me 5 years long enough to get it paid off and a year longer :o the Journey will cost less to drive
but I will have the trailer paid off this week... something going my way...
and just had my cup of hot chocolate!!!! put a mint truffle in it and oh so yummy...
so glad this day is over
oh and I did get caught up in that Murder She Wrote and stayed up to 12

Sheila, if you trade in your truck, what will you pull your 5th wheel with? Or did I miss something there? You are going to Q this year, right?

Barbie if it can't be fixed at a good rate and with it being diesel that isn't going to happen :o my son in law just bought a TT so he needs something to pull it and is willing to buy a big enough truck to pull the 5th wheel as well as his TT so unless it's something doable they will buy a truck and pull me down and back up I will have use of their Journey (a type of car or SUV) so unless something happens I will be down I'd rather be on my own because I don't want the marathon trip and they would do...
guess we will see didn't hear back today to see what the shop said
