Saturday Sept 4th

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Saturday Sept 4th

Good morning Everybody from cool and sunny CT. I think it’s going to be a beautiful day.
So much for the best laid plans of mice and men—-the trip to Tahiti has been cancelled once again, just one week before departure. Will this Covid virus ever stop??? This time the Aranui Cruise is offering a full refund or an upgrade if we reschedule. I don’t know if I can take another year of waiting and hoping….
Enjoy today, Peggy

Saturday September 4

Postby Shirlv » Sat Sep 04, 2021 8:39 am

Morning All, it is 64° and I am loving it. Yesterday sat on the balcony first time in forever. It’s a holiday weekend so staying home. I have been eating prepared dinners out of the freezer so have not even cooked. Pretty boring so nothing to post. Found a young Japanese couple on YouTube who bought a horrible old dilapidated farm and proceeded to renovate it. The young man got his chisel stuck and I have no idea why but it struck it me so funny that I was belly laughing. Think I have been alone too long. :D Making up a Walmart order fo next week. I have never been able to pick out a good avocado so will see if Walmart pickers can do better. Want to make Sandi’s egg rolls. Irmi glad you and Steve are home and the casita is beautiful. Being bored is much better than what many people are dealing with so I will count my blessings. Be safe

Good morning a cool and crisp might even say a bit chilly day. 49° kind of smoky out until tomorrow when the wind shifts they say. They say we should be 89° today but we shall see.
Had a busy day yesterday. Had 6 loads of red mulch delivered and spread in my yard. It looks super nice instead of those yellow wood chips!!!! Found a great fellow to do it for me, the same fellow that removed the moss from my roof and replaced the boots around my pipes up there. He is not a landscaper per se but he did a super job. Didn't skimp on the mulch cover and cleaned it all up so I dont have to. Lots of shoveling and spreading but I love it.

Still need to finish painting that dang shed but last week it was either too breezy, or I had other projects being done, roof and yard. Too cold this morning to get out there but since we will be warming up will finish it this week. Today will putter around the house, need to use the big vacuum again and try to get rid of the dog hair. Emma goes for a bath and nails on Tuesday so that will help. Clean the bathrooms, flatten all the cardboard I have piled up and get rid of it. Still need to go get groceries but I had to go to the bank yesterday so I picked up a few things but not much that was on my list. Just immediate needs.

Staying home this weekend, other than an early grocery run tomorrow. I dont like doing much on holiday weekends, too many idiots out there so best I just stay in.

Good morning to all. From another 107 weather day. Going to be a really hot day Sunday and Monday. On the lake it will be close to 110! Too warm to get out and do anything except real early in the morning and the town is full of people already. Covid cases were going down, we'll see what happens after this weekend.
Gas prices are up to about 4.20 around town. Sams and Costco are about 3.50 so the lines are LONG! Our RV probably won't be repaired until near the end of this month. When we bring it home hopefully the weather will be cooler and we'll be able to get in it and give it a good cleaning and sanitizing...
We got out 4 sided inspection report. Guess I worried about a lot for nothing. All we have to do is trim a couple of bushes out on the side of the garage. No mention of my artificial flowers on the patio or in the window boxes. And didn't get dinged for the Jeep being parked sideways in the driveway. Hope this manager stays here for a while.
A daughter of a friend of ours is getting married in December so might try to make a quilt for her. Give me something to do.
Glad to see no one was caught up in that horrible storm. If only weather could change coasts for a few days.

Sorry to hear about the cancellation, Peggy. Also, both days and nights have been cooling down here in northeastern Ohio, which makes me happy as well. Best thing is not so many of those little gnats or whatever they were that were driving me nuts. Big flocks of them during the day made it easy to breathe them in, plus they came inside and landed on food and liked to flit around my face!!

The problem with my granddaughter's insisting on being at home for her birthday is that I cannot stay in their house driveway overnight and i had used up my 14 days at the local state park. I had made my plans a couple of months ago after I checked that they would be at the condo in Sandusky for Labor Day weekend, so made reservations at a state park near that. The condo is 112 miles from their regular house, meaning it would take me a two-hour drive just to go to get birthday. Same thing happened in California for Memorial Day this past summer--I confirmed they would be in Napa and made plans, and my absentminded son forgot, so they made other plans with friends. Guess I need to keep reminding that son, at least. I ended up spending Memorial Day weekend alone in Napa, then left a day early to head to Nevada.

Basically, my kids make plans on a much shorter basis than I am able to do. So, when they change them, it messes me up. Plus, there is no way you can make new reservations for a big holiday weekend at the last minute. So I am here at a state park near their condo by myself. Will be over there tomorrow and part of Monday, however. Just have to take what time I can and try to be flexible. Just heard from my son she opened my gifts. I am making frosted cookies today for them all. Got the dough ready so need to bake cookies and then frost them. Going to enjoy doing some reading also.

Starting a warmer streak tomorrow for maybe 5 days. I'll be so glad to see last off 100° weather for this year! Big Caldor Fire, they are slowly gaining control of, so hopefully soon we will be done with smoke for now. Hope to get boxes cut and to recycle then convince son to gather the rest of his soda cans so I can take him to recycle those , then still need to get stuff to Goodwill. All In hopes of allowing myself time to paint this evening ! I want to do some fall projects.
That's about it for us for today.

Much cooler here with a little smoke haze.

Barbie, thanks for thought on CBD balm. Someone gave my daughter some and I had forgotten about it. Had another good PT session so doing better. With new exercises, I'm learning what motions I can use without damage. After 2 weeks of babying it, I think some house cleaning better start today! :)

Peggy, sorry about your trip! I imagine my trip to Ireland will be a no go even tho it isn't until next June. Imagine I'll only be shopping at the nearby Safeway, but I did place an order to be shipped here with Walmart with a little big of everything. TV technology certainly passed me by while I was on the road, but I'm catching up! :) Ordered dvd/cd player. Love the sound bar.

My cooking is hit and miss, but I found a Zatarain's gumbo mix and added Andouille sausage to it. Spicy but good!

My chuckle first thing this morning was the squat, 'wide' man walking his bulldog! Talk about resembling a pet or vice versa! Amazes me the size and number of dogs some of these people have in an apartment.

Karen, I'll trade you some rain for 49 degree weather. It's 99 here. I cleaned out the rose bed and finally cooled off. My arms look like I lost a fight with a wild cat. I still need to rake up the yard but that is going to have to wait.

Peggy, sorry your trip got cancelled again. The way things are going I don't even want to go camping. The Louisiana group has a campout planned for September 16-19 but I never did make reservations. I haven't heard if anyone is planning on going except my sister. The only reason she wants to go is to eat a restaurant up there. I am putting my motorhome in the shop again on the 7th so don't even know if I'll have it back.

I haven't been cooking either other than maybe cooking a piece of meat in the air fryer. Yesterday I had some gumbo out of the freezer. It's too hot for gumbo but I'm still trying to get the amount of food in the freezer down. I might cook one of my turkey thighs tomorrow.

I am waiting on the guy from Directv. I hope he shows up because I'm tired of the programs on the channels I can get.

Days are mid 70's to mid/upper 80's here with nights in the 40's. At some point I've been having to turn on my heater before getting up. Great sleeping weather so I'm not complaining. Busy weekend here with families and atvers. One kid terrified Ty on his bike so I'm watching for when he's around. I thought I had Ty calmed down and the boy on bike appeared flying behind our rig as we were going in and Ty jumped and I had a foot only partially on the step. Down I went. Luckily only bruises. Ty and I just got a good walk in while most aren't here.

I made pizza again last night. I'd already decided I would not repurchase umthe crust I bought again. It came in a 3 pack and was the last one. I tried something a little different than their directions and I was pleased. Now I'll probably try them again. The crusts are a little too big for my tiny air fryer, but I trim them down and they work. Easy meal.

I agree that I won't go shopping this weekend, so I'll do a Walmart order for a week from Tuesday and stock up on things that should last through the following week when a friend will be coming to visit. Looking forward to that!

Peggy I'm sorry about the trip cancellation. I know you were looking forward to it. :(

After a couple of absolutely perfect days the weather has changed! Today it has rained on and off all day and has just been depressing! I did go out and get some fresh sweet corn, rhubarb jelly and zucchini bread at a local farm store. I made lentil soup with smoked sausage in it for dinner and it was really good. It was a soup kind of day.

Peggy so sorry your trip was cancelled again!

haven't heard of someone being able to buy Rhubarb jelly before BJ used to be one of my husbands favorite jelly's that and grape... bought grape made Rhubarb lol
so sorry Peggy that your trip has been canceled I am hoping ours won't be one would hope that in a year all this will calm down or at least we pray that it will be...
I was able to get 2 more skeins of yarn that is all they had... the other had pink running through it.. very vivid pink this has purple which you really have to look for (I hope) as it's for a boy
did go to the grocery store got the stuff to make that recipe that was posted.... they had two smaller chickens for 2 for 10 hopefully it will be enough... as I want to try this recipe if I can find it again for chicken taco's will see
found a place for my plant that has been residing on the pellet stove just in case mom decided that she wants to start it up and the plant that I was rooting some had enough root to be replanted so did that had one vine that was still in need of roots... so it's still hanging out in the glass container. did notice that the plants need to be let alone for a bit the one of mine on the stove top was full of water... it has a reservoir and it was full  and the plant that I planted some of the vines into was pretty moist so guess I will need to hold off on watering for a few days...
will take the remains of those chickens and make soup later in the month... some days are for sure soup days although I'm not sure if that is one of mom's favorite meals me I love soup...
you all have a great day

Late again tonight! :o

I got a few things done around here but didn't get started until 3pm. Got the trash and bottles taken to the dumpster but still need to get boxes cut down that are in the porch. Too hot right now for that. Also need to get to my laundry. I have two more days to get stuff done, as long as I don't get too lazy.

Tomorrow I will work on the living room and get my gourd stuff organized. Then I need to work on the porch sometime in the next couple weeks before they scalp the lawn. That makes such a mess and I need to get the windows closed in the porch before then. Some of them are stuck so I need to work on that.

I was reading an RV blog today and a woman had asked a question about what type/size of rig to get for her 11 cats. She is really leaning towards a travel trailer and plans to keep the cats in the trailer while towing! I responded to that, insisting that is NOT a good idea! I would never put an animal in a travel trailer while driving! I wouldn't even want to ride in a trailer myself! Yikes! (and this lady is a veterinarian!)

My neighbor showed me a text message from her daughter that she got from someone she knows. This guy is looking to interview a single retired woman who travels in her RV, for a commercial of some kind. He is looking for someone out in this area (southwest states) and wants to do the interview at the end of this month. I thought of Linda but she won't be here that soon. Beth, would you be interested? I can send you the info I have. Anyone else? He did mention there would be money involved to whomever he interviews.

Peggy, that is so disappointing that your trip was cancelled, especially at the last minute like that. :( I would love to go to Tahiti someday!

Karen, we need photos of your yard...

Sheila, can you post the recipe for the banana bread brownies, please?? :D
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
