so very pretty... do have a question for Pat if she see's this when we drove through SD saw some sunflower's (fields of them) that were a lot shorter than what we normally see sunflowers a new breed? a reason for them being shorter?

Sandi, your work is really lovely! I used to paint some with water colors and have seen those type of brushes and wondered how they would work. I imagine they take a bit of a learning curve.

Sandi, as usual beautiful painting. I would think the new brush requires excellent coordination so very challenging. But you are up to the challenge.

I've owned and used water brushes for years. They are only good for certain techniques as its easy to get too much water, but can be useful. I'll be looking forward to see how they work for the style of painting you are doing. My current watercolor stamping I cant use them at all because it requires a very dry, just damp brush.

I did not use the water brushes on the sunflower painting having discovered exactly what Velda described when I tried them first on the “Birds on a Branch” painting. Not sure if I’ll use them much. It takes a completely different type of watercolor painting than I’ve done so far (perhaps subjects and landscapes that don’t require the detail I’ve done to this point). However, I may still try some different effects in the future when they will come in handy. It’s fun to expand my venture into watercolor painting so I’m glad I have them to explore different techniques.

I’ve found painting is an excellent way to save on groceries. This morning I made a latté for breakfast. Late morning I started practicing and trying to think of something to paint. It was about 1:00 when I decided on a subject and got started. I finished about 4:00 pm and realized I missed lunch and it was time to think about dinner. Having fun and saving money too.

Too hot to go outside with the pups since it’s headed to about 105°today. Good excuse for some more practice painting.
