Thursday September 2

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Thursday September 2

Morning All, it is 67°and sunny. Yesterday was a scary day. Tornado watch from noon until 10 pm and torrential rain off and on all day. A tornado touch down in Annapolis but haven’t heard of any damage on the shore. I received a warning on my cell but it disappeared before I could read it. Tried everything to retrieve it but no luck. If there is low humidity will open all the windows. Hope Peggy and Sharon were spared problems too. Be safe

Good morning Everybody,
Shirl, thank you for your concern. I am fine here in Hartford; just heavy rain. Sometime during the night I received an alert on my phone of possible flooding. Today the sun is shining. Enjoy. Peggy

Good morning. Thanks for the concern Shirl and happy to hear both you and Peggy made it through the day yesterday. We had a steady rain from early hours of the morning until about 5 pm. I did have a small amount of water in my basement but not very much. The areas south of me seem to have taken the brunt of it. I don’t know for sure but imagine our town had flooded roads on the north side of town. I sure wasn’t going to venture out to see! On top of it I was up pretty much the whole night before since my brain wouldn’t turn off and I was sitting in the kitchen with a cup of tea and saw a mouse in Rascal’s empty bowl! So changed the batteries in the trap and reset it. Checked it yesterday morning and got him! I hate doing it but sure don’t need the critters in my kitchen or house. Yuck! I need to double check the storage areas in Lola to make sure they aren’t coming there too. I’ve already removed any food in the cupboards and whatnot so hope that discourages any mice. So other than all that I think I’ll just take it easy today and do a bit of work out in the yard to clean up any debris from the trees. Cool autumn temps today but supposed to get in the 80’s within the next few days. Good to see the sun today though and so grateful that we didn’t have what was others had from this storm. Have a good day and stay safe.

I've been worried about you Easterners. I'm glad you two have checked in and hope Sharon does soon.

Last I heard yesterday was there'd be one room to clean today, so I'll have a itty bitty work day. No hurry as if I go early they'll be late check outs. If I wait, they'll have left early. That's the way it works with one room. Lol

I'm trying to figure out why I awoke with a splitting headache overnight. Probably weather related, but nothing I can isolate. I still have it, but not as bad.

Yay, Sharon posted as I was writing.

I hope Ida has left the country. I didn't get to mow yesterday because we got an inch of rain. It's not suppose to rain today but it's overcast so who knows. I think my thermometer on the front porch is going crazy. It says it 106 and the one on the back porch says it's 92.

I have a pretty good list going but don't really want to go to Walmart. I guess I will have to because I need cat food for the house cats. They will be bugging me if they run out of food. The last time I passed our Walmart they had completely torn up the gas station. If they rebuild it I hope they make it easier to get into.

A day late on my check-in. Glad to see that all have made it through Ida’s ferocity, as we did here with just heavy rain. I heard from Paulette, and she said the same.

Now I’m looking forward to some cooler weather in the coming weeks so I can get outside and work in my gardens. I have weeds galore after all the daily thundershowers and bands of rain from Ida. I did manage to get my front lawn mowed today...it’s small so doesn’t take long with the battery-powered mower. Even so, I was overheated and sweaty, needing a shower when finished. I can’t take the heat and humidity combination very long.

My butterflies don’t mind the weeds among the flowers. They are flourishing and multiplying. I released 3 new Monarchs today and have 22 more in chrysalis that will emerge in the coming days. Monarchs are the only ones I rescue and put in a protective enclosure to make their chrysalises. There are many black swallowtail caterpillars and chrysalises in the butterfly garden. One of those emerged today also.

That’s my itty bitty news.

Hi ladies!

I'm so happy that all of you on the east coast were spared from Ida. I'm so glad we don't have to worry about that anymore...that's not saying we couldn't be hit in FL, but our home in MD was in a flood zone and flood it did.

We almost have our casita the way we want it. Once we get a glass curio cabinet for my bells, we'll be done.

Your casita looks so homey Irmi. You must be so relieved to have the home in Maryland in the rearview mirror and to be on to your new life in Florida in your new “Home Sweet Home.” Congratulations!

Glad to hear no one had any serious problems with the storms. I cannot believe that some areas had over 8" of rain!

And I have some good news! First, after multiple calls and messages over the past month, with no responses, I found out that the new awning and slide toppers I ordered in March through the Fleetwood customer service center in Decatur, IN, are in. They were supposed to be in and installed when I was in the factory service place in late June!! Also, the service manager, who was the person who finally called me back after another call, said they will install them first thing on Tuesday morning, as in this coming Tuesday! So I just have to drive 3 hours from where I am now in Sandusky, OH, to Decatur on late Monday so I can spend the night in the RV customer lot at Decatur. The service people start at 6 am, so you have to be in the office and have your rig unplugged and slides in by 5:45 am!!! (Can even do some laundry while I am there since they have a free laundry room.) Will also stay there Tuesday night, unless I try to get an early start to Ohio in late afternoon.

Then Wednesday morning, I will get back to Aurora where my son lives, in time to get to the dentist for a cleaning at 1 pm. It will be tight, but I will make it. Then to Berlin Lake about 30 miles away. Other good news is that a rain jacket I ordered from LLBean and had to reorder a bigger size will arrive Tuesday, so can pick that up at my son's also.

And finally, I had a Zoom meeting this morning from a PA from my pulmonologist, and they have decided that the little something in my lung that I have had for a few years is stable, so no biopsy or additional PET scan is needed. Will check it again in a year.

So, all this means that I can head to Gettysburg and Florida on Sept 11, assuming my mattress arrives next week as promised. Whew!

Judy, you have lots of great news. About time, eh?

Irmi, your place is looking so homey, your kind of homey. Love it.

looks like it is all good for you Judy
loving the looks of your casita Irmi
so glad that all is well with those in the pathway of this hurricane
I happened to watch the national news tonight usually fixing supper but tonight I just put in some pot pies that were
cooking while it was on.... the pictures of the flooding in NYC was amazing...hard to realize that that much rain and water can happen while here in the west we could use that rain perhaps not in the amounts that it came... although we did get some today like maybe an 1/8 of an inch  enough that the decks were wet
made banana bread brownies... I really like them mom never says so don't know if she does or not... it's been a really cool day almost tempting to wear the flannels pj's to bed tonight more because of the long sleeves than the warmth of them...
did some Swedish Weave and my rows on the baby afghan ... new skein pulled out the center to get started and I swear it was 1/4 of the skein came with it... such a mess took forever to get it untangled but I finally managed it... :o
Liz I am sure that watching those butterflies are soothing to watch... regardless of what type they are... I love watching the hummingbirds coming about they flit all over the plants next year I will have to get some more plants that are more the types that bring the hummer's in... and there is another bird that has been majorly around for a few days think it's some sort of swallow...
saw of FB that Nan's niece died... so sad

Good evening!

Beth, sometimes headaches can be caused by dehydration. Have you been drinking enough water?

Strange how the east side of the country is drowning in flooding rains and the west is burning up from drought. One extreme to the other. :o

Decent weather here right now. Below 100*, with low humidity and a light breeze.

Irmi, your casita looks very homey. I love your curtains!

Getting to bed early tonight. Had my last PT session today and that wears me out quite a bit so I am tired tonight. Also got my hair cut before going to PT so the back is nice and short again and feels so much better!

One more work day before a long weekend! Anyone have plans? I will just stay home and try to find some motivation to get something done around here. It is looking messy again.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
