Last Friday of August

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

I am pooped. Eddie, the guy that has cattle here, came this morning and put the tractor, bush hog, 4 wheeler, welding machine and mower up on the hill. My son came and we moved the motorhome and truck to Maurice. I have a few more things to put in the old house in the morning. Will watch the weather and see how soon I need to go to Lafayette. You should see all the traffic. All the campers, boats, tractors and expensive equipment are headed North. Only saw a few trailers with cattle. I bet in the morning there will be a lot on the road. You can't get into a gas station unless it's out of gas. All my vehicles are almost full and I have a loaf of bread. I don't know what people do with all the bread they buy. I hope there are some gas tankers coming in tonight.

Birdie, give us a call when you head to Texas. I might still be in Lafayette. Who is babysitting your cat?

Sue, it will be interesting to see how the divided classes work out. One of the parishes North of here only made a week of school and there were so many cases of Covid they had to go to virtual learning.

I'm not happy that my new phone is so big. The button that turns it off and on is in an area that I keep turning it off when I'm talking to someone. It doesn't show that there was a call or a message unless I turn it on but it will kind of vibrate when I pick it up. Peggy, I'll have to see if that's how I can block calls on mine. I guess technology will keep dragging us along kicking and screaming. lol

Then again the masks in class rooms only work if they are used all the time.

Wouldn't you know it! I received an email today asking if I'd be interested in a position for next summer at the park in Maine I was hoping to be at next summer before I accepted the West Yellowstone position. My reply was to ask if they'd consider me for the following summer. I know they won't commit to that now, but fingers crossed.

Life sure is strange.

Good late evening!

Birdy, what a pleasant surprise hearing from you this morning!

Martha, be careful, stay safe! And don't share that loaf of bread!

Just finished up my pizza from last night. I put a couple slices in the microwave for lunch and they weren't very good, but tonight I put them in the toaster oven and they tasted as good as the fresh baked slices were last night.

It is still hot today, mid teens. But the smoke is gone. Can finally see the mountains all around. The sunset made our mountains behind me a beautiful deep red color. So pretty!

I noticed on the way home that flags are at half staff including the ones here in the park. I didn't see any national headlines that would indicate why but I checked the local news and the only thing I found was a young local man in Afganistan was killed today so that is probably why. So sad :(

There was a 4 year old in our county who died from Covid. He had no underlying conditions. Another tragic event.

Need to get some cleaning done this weekend. Got nothing done last weekend so I plan to drink a can of V-8 Energy tomorrow morning and see if that gets me moving! I really need a haircut so will do that in the morning too. Gotta get it done! Maybe it will take two cans!!

Off to bed!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

had to get up earlier than normal to take mom to the doctor said she is doing well... and he will make arrangements for her infusion (it is to strengthen her bones I believe) afterwards we went to early lunch one place was so full no parking to be found so went to another place because of their parking but decided that I don't like the backing out of the handicapped spot we won't say how many turns I had to make to get straightened out  the thing is they have a back out spot that for some reason they have closed off with plants and something else if they don't want it used at least put the plants in a ways so one can back out easier... picked up the mail then home masks are required in many places now the post office being one of them... saw some flags at half mast wondered why then while eating saw a post on our family chat about one of Jackson's own being killed in the bombing turns out his grandfather is one of mom's neighbor's and his family has been living there for a time due to a fire at their home his wife is expecting very sad for sure... mom's slept most of the day just now waking up a bit oh she has been up to bathroom and supper and back to sleep so she probably won't sleep tonight... I sure will tired...
it is chilly I actually put on a sweat shirt over my PJ's for the long sleeves I think

It totally and completely baffles me that parents are protesting at schools against masks, in-person learning is starting up all over the country, with un-masked and un-vaccinated younger kids all streaming back to school

I mean, what did the people in that parish think was going to happen? Isn't anyone paying attention? Parents, politicians, teachers, school officials, anyone? Not just there in Louisiana, but pretty much everywhere!

Frankly, it stuns me that parents seem so anxious to hurry up and put their children at risk!!! What IS that about, anyway?? I'm SO glad that I don't have school-age children.

I just read online that a local high school here will not be requiring masks, which isn't particularly surprising, because where I live is pretty much a "mask-free zone" anyway, and has been since the start of the pandemic.

I'll be interested to watch to see how long this school remains open before it shuts down when a bunch of people - students and school officials alike - start to get sick.

I'm thinking hey might not even make your week, Martha.
