Was wide awake at 3:30 this morning and couldn’t go back to sleep. Decided to check out the forum. Did a post and lost it. Nuts. Played my Word game and went back to sleep. Up and at em now.

Gosh Beth, you are going to have a hard decision to make. Working in West Yellowstone would be a great spot for the summer but then you haven’t been east for awhile. Too bad you didn’t have a job offer out this way, then you would have something to compare it with. Going to be a follow your gut instincts and your heart. And your pocketbook.

Barbie, yes, they are going to build a house. Actually the plan to have a BOCA modular like my current and past houses built. They want to move from their current house at the end of the road, but don’t want to leave the neighborhood. They are right next to I-75, a narrow lot, hardly any trees or backyard. Was okay for them as newlyweds but now the girls have graduated from high school. Time for something better. There are 4 lots for sale around the road here, but they butt up against a motel turned into apartments and they don’t want that. So they approached me. We talked about it, set a price and now will go from here. They are excited to be able to fulfill this next stage in their lives. Her parents live on the road here too. It’s a win win situation. My house is 75 feet from the property line and they by deed restrictions have to build at least 20 feet from the line, so plenty of room between us. I will be selling a 1.6 acre lot and will have 2.2 where my house and outbuildings are.

Looking at a warm a bit more humid day today, so not getting into much. Smoke is supposed to filter in again, which does help keep the hot sun tempered a bit. Has only been around 81 past couple days. So I will run the vac and take a ride down to Grayling. Did do a little work on my newly cleared area next to the house, but will leave it for cooler weather. Once I haul off some stuff I raked into piles, will let nature go to work. Need to start concentrating on getting ready for upcoming camping trip.

Judy, you seem to have a rain cloud following you around First it was too much rain in OH, then rain here and now back in OH.

Suppose I should get my day started here. Hope you all have a good day. Stay safe in the storms, fire smoke areas and whatever else is going on out there.

Morning Sue and All, hot and humid on the shore. Went to Bjs warehouse store yesterday for a few special items. It isn’t as nice as Sam’s Club but it is closer to me. Came home put groceries away and then checked Accuweather. A tornado warning in effect until 8pm last night. I can not imagine me pulling to the side of the highway and laying in a ditch. Scary world out there. No plans for today or traffic weekend. Was going to write a comment about Carol and the rv but thought better of it since I am becoming a cynical old bat. Having a hard time keeping my glass half full. Be safe

Good morning Sue, Shirl and Everybody who follows. It has been awhile since I posted, but I have been reading. First a belated birthday wish for Shirl. I can’t believe that you are 85! You go girl....
Sue, you live in a special place for sure. Nobody wants to leave your neighborhood. Glad you were able to provide that couple with options that enabled them to stay. I remember when you bought the house next door.

Carol and Bill, what a surprise knock on your door. You weren’t getting much security for your money. Hopefully your RV can repaired as good as new.

Last May I was so optimistic that the virus was getting under control, and I made plans. How little did I know. Last week I camped at a four day Bluegrass Festival at a fairground here in CT. The musicians were so happy to be playing for a live audience again. Everybody social distanced, and since I had my Roadtrek I didn’t need the showers or porta potties. Now I am home and self isolating for the next 23 days. That’s when I leave for French Polynesia. My nerves are shot. I so want to go, but I’m worried...

Good morning. We had quite a rain yesterday, pretty much the whole day of it thanks to the tropical storm coming up from the south! More rain due to come in today too. Wish I could share it with all of you in the west. Our Comcast service went out yesterday bout 3 and since I have their triple package I was pretty much without any form of communication. Thank goodness I never tied my cell phone to them! I called and got a message that there was an outage in my area so at least was glad it wasn’t just me! They said a couple of hours but turned out to be closer to 11 hours. Just glad it wasn’t the power! So was a quiet evening with a book! I’v never gotten into using my cell phone for streaming and whatnot so didn’t have a clue so missed the news but will catch up today! Probably not such a bad thing for one day! Beth, you have quite a decision facing you but you’ll do what’s best for you. So not much happening here! Just “normal” everyday things! Not much different then every other day! You all stay safe and have a good day!

Bad smoke and low 90's here again today. Normally a drop to low 90's is very welcome and great to be outside in, but not with air so bad. I had to go to Costco yesterday, as tuesday they had been out of the organic air chilled chicken legs my spoiled girl eats (after trying a differently handled chicken in early 2020, and her getting so sick she cost me $1200 in vet bills, I'm not playing around with other chicken!). So I got out my new KN95 masks, which I ordered after recommends here, and drove through the smoke and Yay, Costco had it back in stock, so Stormy girl is good for another couple weeks. Last night she dined on an appetizer of air fried loin pork chop bites she mooched off me (how do you resist those big golden eyes staring at you from her designated seat on a side table?!, followed by her chicken leg embedded with vitamin powder at her leisure! Mandy, who has never preferred raw as her main course, meanwhile, keeps me entertained with the game of which variety canned food do you think I want today! Gotta love these 16 year old entertainers.
I'm staying in as smoke increases from the now over 60,000 acre Caldor fire which began last Saturday morning. Cause has not yet been mentioned, but it's in extremely brushy, steep terrain, difficult to get to, much less cut lines, so a lot of air drops, both helicopter and fixed wing , being done. I hear the jets and prop driven bombers go by. I had to take my ventolin this morning but one puff does trick and I'll stay in with doors and windows closed, until air improves.
I'm working to make Mel's desk my watercolor painting station and have just a few more things to sort (gotta make sure none of those unmarked disks are precious photos, then I can finally play with my new watercolor stamping and painting.

And I just turned my little electric heater on lol. This is crazy. They had to close off the lower campground until the river goes down more, especially since we're still getting some rain.

I have no idea if I'll make the right decision. Of course I can wait too long and the decision will be made for me. Haha. Right now I'm leaning towards Montana. Tonight I'll probably lean the other way. I know I'll be better off when I make a decision, either way, and accept it.

Sue, I love hearing about your property and this sale. It's nice that you know the people and know they'll be good neighbors.

Had an appointment at 11 at the Pharmacy, got my Booster shot. The pharmacist told me he has no idea what kind of reaction will come with #3. Whatever it is I know I will just push thru it, heck maybe nothing. Glad that is over.... for now anyway. Who knows what they will come up with next. Will still be just staying home hanging out. I have more painting to do on my shed and another couple of repairs but figure I wont get into any big projects until I make sure I am feeling fine. So planning on Monday to get back to it.

Despite all the fires around and updates from Anne we are smoke free....YAY Saw the big almost full moon last night. Missed all the meteors last week but no big deal.

Was just reading how all the satellite and cable companies are losing so much money as people are cord cutting right and left. I have cable but just the basic plan, and the internet thru Spectrum. I do have several streaming channels I watch. Some free and some I pay for.
My problem is I like the local channels as I watch quite a few of their shows but maybe next year I will give up my cable we shall see. If it keeps going up I will be giving it up for sure.

Lunch time here so I need to go forage thru the pantry and see what I will have for lunch. Salmon patties on the agenda for dinner.

I "cut the cord" almost 11 years ago, after a week or so (and with more and more programming stream-able) I adjusted, and don't miss it. I have NEVER looked back!

At that time, my monthly cable bill was $75.00/mo for mostly stuff I never watched, and had no interest in watching, and the monthly rate was constantly increasing. I'm guessing that the monthly bill probably is about $125 now - at least - for what I was getting then.

Even then, $70/mo spread over a year's time ($900!!) would pay for a good vacation in my van!

I have used Roku since I did the "cutting", Roku seems to have more and more content added on there every day.

NO monthly fees, but you can add "pay" channels if you wish - I have never added any pay channels, the free stuff is more than enough for me. There is enough free programming online these days that one could watch 24/7 without paying a dime.

Also, recently coming to streaming, is a new service that does a stream of local and network stations. I added the service to my Roku selections a couple of months ago - have gone in once or twice to look at local and network programming, but they are now so uttlerly CRAMMED with ads that I just couldn't bear to watch the programming for more than a few minutes, and just went back to my usual Roku channels.

Anyway, it looks like there is a node out of Portland, you might be able to stream programming from this node:

Karen, when I got rid of the satellite, I used Hulu. I paused it this summer when shows weren't on, but started again so I could watch football Saturday. Turns out Hulu and Samsung TVs don't get along and Hulu turns off - a lot! Someone had mentioned YouTube TV and it seems to be a good choice so far. Both get local channels. Think it's $70 a month which is cheaper than cable here.

Monica and I played tourist in the local shops yesterday. Nice to have cooler weather once in awhile.

I'm still in pajamas. Shoulder has been so sore, it's hard to get anything done. I haven't done much but cook and do dishes - which now need to be done again.

Anita, that's what's making it hard. I get emails and phone calls and ignore them. This is a great location and a job I'd like. So, yes, I'm leaning towards taking it.

Judy, the location is in Montana, but if I go and there's huckleberry ice cream, I'll give it a try.

The closest major stores are in, I think, Rexburg, Idaho. I think Sheila would, maybe, be able to meet me there occasionally. That would also be a bonus.

Got up this morning and went to check on Lily. She was hiding under the bed. I just talked to her a bit before I left. Hope she will remember me and come out soon!

It was surprisingly comfortable outside this morning! No humidity and probably in the mid 80's. The wind has died down now.

I headed off to work awhile ago and when I got there, my manager was standing outside talking to a couple of my co-workers. They had state inspectors come in before noon to do their planned inspection (which we knew about) but I guess they found some things they weren't happy about and were still there so we were told to go back home for the day. I know the owners and manager do a good job of keeping everything clean, organized and on the up and up there, so am not sure what they found to their dissatisfaction. So anyways, I took the scenic route back home along the main road thru all the towns, rather than the freeway. Stopped at a 99 cent store and picked up a couple things before heading home.

I put out the cat trap this morning on my deck with tuna in it and tied the door open just to get the cats used to going in there again. The tuna was gone when I got home so I put more in there. I have been seeing the small orange kitty on my deck a lot lately so am hoping I can catch him/her tomorrow night. I will leave food by the opening under the house across the street for Spooky so he doesn't come over and get in the trap. I really want the orange kitty, but will take any one I catch that I am not sure about. I saw a large Siamese come up last night.

I remember when I was in West Yellowstone, every shop had Huckleberry everything! It actually is a good flavor! I bought a few Huckleberry snacks.

I have basic cable included with my HOA so I just pay for internet with Spectrum. I don't watch much TV other than HGTV, TLC, and the Travel channel. I wanted to get an upgrade for the Golf channel but they wanted an extra $50/mo for it! (you get all the sports channels with that package which I don't need).

Now I guess I will find something to do around here since I have the day off. Will go check on Lily again in a couple hours and see if I can entice her with some kitty treats I picked up at the 99 cent store.

I have been weighing all my options for tv. I have Hulu, Netflix, Philo and Amazon prime is just a bonus. Also quite a few of the free ones like Pluto , Peacock,Alibi, etc To sign up for Youtube or Hulu where you get the locals would be around $65 Internet 200 mbps and tv thru spectrum is $140 Their internet alone would be $70 so by the time I factor in all the other ones I would be paying more than I am now because we know Spectrum goes up all the time. So I will just hang tight for now. I have Samsung and Roku tv's. I love my Roku and even more now that they got the SpectrumTV app back.

Sorry, Beth, but I meant West Yellowstone by "WY." Did not think of Wyoming. Montana also has "Wheat Montana" a bakery with fantastic pastries and croissants. Love their almond bearclaws!

Anyway, I also got my booster shot this morning, so my arm is a little sore. Long drive today, and stopped by my son's house. Let myself in via the garage, and then shouted "I'm here" when I entered the door to the kitchen. Dog is a long-legged and very friendly Springer, so when she heard me, she raced into the kitchen, skidded on the wood flooring, and hit the kitchen cabinets. Wish I had a video of it! When she greets you, she knows not to jump up, so she puts her paws on you and then rolls over on the floor.

Going to go back to their house tomorrow to work on sorting through the stuff I have in their basement. Need to reduce amount and consolidate. Probably won't get there until noon because I am tired and achy after shot and long drive today--will sleep in.

I just got notice my Verizon bill was paid today. Since I am no longer with them, I couldn't see the bill or my account online. Getting through to someone when you no longer have their service was quite an ordeal. Learned I have a $8.13 credit. I have to request they send it. I asked how I could get through to someone without the hassle. I can go to a Verizon store and have them call!
