Heating Up Wednesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Heating Up Wednesday

Postby Colliemom » Wed Aug 18, 2021 8:14 am

Good Morning from sunny northern MI. Been having some beautiful weather here, but supposed to get pretty warm for next few days. Till Sunday at least. Bit muggy they say. Fortunately these spells are short lived. See you gals on the east coast are having some wet weather.

Shirl, want to wish you a Happy Belated Birthday. Glad you had a nice day Anne, thanks for the Fire updates. I like you have always been interested in the natural scope of things. In my case it’s Weather. I enjoy reading posts from our local National Weather Service office here. . Always very informative and I enjoy virtual or in person weather classes and talks. I spend so much time outdoors that I have de pveloped eloped a “feel” for the weather. I can sense changes in seasons and even daily weather just by being alert to things other don’t even notice. Little subtle changes in the wind types of clouds, minor temperature changes, atmospheric changes etc. It’s a fascinating science.

Carol, that was quite shocking news about your motorhome. Thank goodness somebody was alert. It almost smacks of an “inside job”, being a “gated community” and a supposedly secure storage area.

Spent most of yesterday giving my trailer a good bath, especially the roof. After having had an invasion of gypsy moth caterpillars chewing up tree leaves and their poop all over the place, the roof was a mess. That stuff doesn’t come off easy. Used Simple Green, Mold Armour and a long handied scrub brush to get it off. But it’s all nice and clean now as is the rest of it. I was tired by the time I was done. Getting to a point where I don’t like getting up on ladders anymore.

Had some work done in my yard yesterday as well. Area behind my shed cleared to use as a dumping spot for yard waste since I am selling my lot that I currently use for that. Also had an area cleared next to my house to get rid of piles of pine needles, leaves etc. being cleared over the years. The guy who did it uses a big machine that grinds and mulches up all that stuff and leaves a fine layer of composted stuff behind. It will settle down in time. Once the weather cools off again, I will rake up the bits and pieces of wood and roots and get it all nice and smooth, then nature can go to work growing ferns, grass or whatever. My fall project to keep me outside till the snow flies.

Payday todsy, so off to town on errands and pick up a few things at the store. So guess I had better get going here. Have a nice dsy everyone.

It is another cool morning 51°, love it. Supposed to heat up to 83 today. Perfect weather. I will get out later this morning and patch the aluminum hole in my shed roof, then will finish painting it. It is one of those red barn storage sheds..........ugly. Not in the greatest shape but just need to store a few things inside so it works. Will paint the whole shed as I am not a red barn kinda gal unless it IS a barn. My house is grey and light grey so pretty soon so will the shed be the same colors. Then will work on organizing the things in there as I have to be able to find things. I also have a battery operated motion light to put up, when the door blows shut it is pitch black in there so just need to find a place to attach it. After the paint dries will put up my 3rd security camera for the carport, then that job will be finished.

Time to get dressed and will shower when I am finished with my chores. Breakfast can wait a bit as it is way to early for me to eat. Need a second cuppa java now.

Thunder and lightening, rain and chilly. What a difference a day makes. Shouldn't hit 70 today or tomorrow. I'm waiting for a break in the rain to get Ty out and walked. Will probably be watching for these breaks all day. I have a feeling I'll really be a bum today.

I did get an email last night from someone interested in talking to me about a job for next summer. Hmmm. I will call to get more details as it's a store (my preferred job) and with pay and a site. But I've convinced myself to go east next summer and it's still west. Ha, it's just a fact finding call, but getting me seriously thinking about next year.

No rain on the roof, I best hustle Ty out.

I don't know who was chasing who but it sounded like a stampede this morning. Rascal was the first one I caught and put him out. I wish they would let me sleep. It was raining when I got up but looks like that has passed.

I remember what I need to do in Lafayette, look for eye glass frames. Didn't go early enough to my meetup meal to do that. It was at the Latin Restaurant that we ate at once. I had a Patacon with brisket. It was very good. They fry plantains to make the outside of the sandwich and fill it with meat, lettuce, tomatoes and avocados. The sauce they use is so good. It looks like it might be mayo and avocado. Darn, now I want another one. lol I am going to look at Walmart for a piece of brisket to cook. The local grocery store only sells them whole and they are about $75. Sometimes Walmart has a piece of brisket that is only about 3 pounds.

When I get gathered up I think I will call the tire place and see when would be a good time to come in. I want to replace the other two tires on the motorhome and I should be good for 5 years.

I need to get pruning shears. I dropped the one I had when the wasps stung me and the mower found it. I hate to think what the blade looks like after all the things I have run over.

BJ, my sister had the procedure on her face yesterday. They put one of those frames on her head and after wrapped her head up. Her granddaughter posted a picture of her on Facebook and everyone thought she had brain surgery. They told her that it could take 6 months for her to see a difference. That doesn't sound very good to me.

Do you know what procedure your sister had? There are several but it sounds as though they cut the trigeminal nerve with Gamma Knife radiation. Hopefully she will get relief sooner!!! I'm having an MRI done next Thursday which will be sent to a neurosurgeon in St Louis to read. Right now my pain isn't as intense and I can eat ( instead of making all my food drinkable) some soft foods. I had a few potato chips the other day and they tasted sooo good!!. I'm eating anything I can to try and gain some weight back.

Good thing I took Ty when I did. It was only sprinkling but he peed and pooped in record time. A couple hours later he needed to go out again and he peed up a storm. I knew that would happen as he usually pees at least twice first time out. Meantime the storms keep coming. 2nd time out we walked to the river sites. The river was really low. Today it's over it's banks. And we're still in a severe thunderstorm watch for a few more hours and much of tomorrow and a flash flood watch until 8 am Thursday.

BJ I've been working hard at losing the weight I gained the last few years. Now it's at a standstill. Interesting how eating can be a problem both waysv and frustrating for both of us.

I called the manager who emailed me about a job. I've been offered it but need to think it over. It's got pluses and minuses. I need to weigh them.

I'm glad to see that Utah and parts of Nevada and Colorado are getting some substantial rain! I'm sure it will help the animals, as well as people. And as far as the potential job, see if they will negotiate some of the negatives. After all, they approached you, so obviously want you for the job. Sometimes it is worth negotiating, but in your case, maybe that job is just not worth it.

I once got a job offer while I was retired, sitting in my motorhome and looking at the ocean at Gamble Rogers State Park. Almost made me spit out the food I had been eating because they had found a 20+-year-old resume of mine. As I was laughing after finding out about the old resume, I told the lady on the phone where I was sitting at that moment and that this must be a very poorly paid job if they had to go that far into the stack of old resumes!! Then she told me it was with Ford in the IT training group, which is exactly the job I had held for 7 years and had left three years earlier! I could tell her who the manager was and what the job was, which even she thought was funny. I immediately emailed a couple of my old co-workers about the you-gotta-be-kidding job offer.

Was planning on going outside today and working on cleaning out one of my underneath storage areas, but it rained so hard, the ground is still full of puddles, so it will have to wait. Tomorrow, I leave for Aurora, but have a booster shot scheduled for 10 am! Yea.

Judy, I'd probably love the job. But I've been thinking that I'd go east next spring and this is in Montana near the western entrance to Yellowstone. It'd be nice to work for pay one more summer. So. Hard decision.

Rain has been gone for a couple hours. It's expected back in a couple hours through tomorrow afternoon. And the cooler weather gets cooler lol. High tomorrow 63 and the low tomorrow in the 30's! Then back to more normal. Whatever normal is anymore.

Had to drive thru a dust storm on the way home from work tonight! Barely any visibility on the freeway! It is really windy here at the house but not as much dust right here, luckily!

Sue, will your neighbor be building a house on that lot?

Karen, at my park, our sheds have to match our houses. I like red barns but yours will look much better after painting to match.

Beth, I hope you can make a good decision about the job.

Sounds like the wind is dying down now. Good thing!

The recall election for Gov. Newsome is in about 3 weeks. If he gets voted out, he could be replaced by a republican who is a conspiracy theorist and wants to undo all Covid restrictions and protections. That would be a disaster for California.

I start cat sitting for Lily tomorrow morning! Can't wait! I hope she remembers me!

Have a good night!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
