Happy Saturday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Happy Saturday

Postby Bethers » Sat Aug 14, 2021 9:22 am

And a very Happy Birthday, Shirl! I hope you have a grand day! (I hope you're ok that I wished you your birthday here in morning coffee instead of a new thread on the general room. I know you're on this thread daily. :) )

I need to get ready to head into work but just don't want to lolol. And Ty is still curled up under the covers. If hate to disturb him. Good excuse, right?

Here's wishing everyone a wonderful day.

Good morning Beth & Karen!

Happy birthday Shirl!

Beth, I hope you had an easy day at work. Karen, enjoy the luncheon with Laura & Claudia.

We're having friends over today to play some card games and have dinner with us. Baby back ribs are in the crockpot and I'll make homemade macaroni & cheese, green beans with bacon and a plate with sliced tomatoes, onions & cucumbers. I cheated and bought Reese's ice cream cups for dessert.

Enjoy your day!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHIRL!!!! I hope you enjoy the day and that the weather is perfect.

Karen glad to hear the air has improved and you are off on an adventure. Irmi, your day sounds fun. Beth I'm with you I got a slow start to the day.

It has been crazy around here this week. Emma's trainer, who I made a co-owner several months ago, took her to her wellness appointment Monday and the vet thought Emma's spleen felt enlarged. The x-ray wasn’t clear so an ultra sound was scheduled for Friday. I asked her NOT to tell DH until Thursday. I would have waited until after the appointment but Emma had to spend the night with her as the appointment was so early. The ultra sound was clear so we are all very relieved!! DH is so attached to Emma I just didn't want him worrying on top of the sadness of Mitzi passing.

It has cooled down here but still too humid for me and so far not much rain. Rain is in the forecast but of course that is yet to be seen! We have so many leaves down in the yard it looks like fall.

Off to find something for lunch although I just finish my cereal that was delayed due my nap.

Good morning!

Happy Birthday, Shirl!! Hope it's a grand day!

Karen, I am so glad you and Laura get to meet Claudia - she's a kick! Happy your air is better - we are at 141. BJ, good news for Emma! Beth, who needs an excuse to not get moving? Yummy menu, Irmi.

Got my hair cut yesterday and the other errands weren't very successful. The sewing center had a new person - very nice but still learning. I ended up ordering a serger from Amazon after much research. Decided to put patio planters on hold until spring. The hibiscus my BFF brought is doing quite well out there. Monica and I went for mani-pedis - person doing mine was running late, but I got to relax in the massage chair. Call this morning that a small part is missing for my headboard and footboard, but they will bring the rest Monday still. Anxious to have the tv off the floor!

The Sling friend in Florida is Covid free after 2 weeks of he**. He'll need recovery time and has some lung issues. They didn't know friends hadn't been vaccinated and apparently the guy was a carrier. Plus, Phil got his shots back in January.

Everyone be safe and have a good day!

HappyBirthday Shirl! Hope you have a great day and something special for dessert !
Air is moderate here and temps on rise after a cooler day in low 90's yesterday. Karen so glad your air improved.
Karen, enjoy your lunch and meeting new friends.
Irmi, enjoy those ribs! I recently discovered if I put ribs in Instant Pot with scant amount liquid and pressure cook 25 min, then brush with sauce and brown in Air Fryer, they really are good. I used a little liquid smoke in the IP which helped flavor them too. Since I haven't found anyone who can fix my smoker yet, I have found ways to have some foods that I was using smoker for.
Have a good day all. Stay safe!

I woke up at 7:30 this morning. Rolled back over and fell asleep until 11:30! :o

Need to get up and get going with the list of things to do today. Finish the gourd and finish packing.

It is cloudy today with no wind. Haven't heard about rain in the forecast tho.

Happy birthday Shirl!

I am worn out already, and it is only mid-afternoon. Went out this morning and dumped 4 small bags of trash, dumped my tanks, drove to post office and dropped off two important letters, went to Meijers and did some grocery shopping. Then came back and before I opened slides, I went quickly through one of my 9 outside storage areas. Actually one of my storage areas is my "dirty" sewer hookup area, so nothing stored there, and one is my "clean" bin where I store hoses, cleaning liquids, chocks, and other things needed for cleaning and hookups. I still have 5 other storage areas to go through. Found stuff I had forgotten I had, so tossed stuff that I have not used in a long time. It is a hard decision on some stuff, however. For example, I have a shop light with a heavy outdoor cord that I used a couple of times for putting some heat in one outside area that might freeze when I had to spend a October and November in Ohio a couple of years ago. I don't think I will really need it again, but I might end up loaning it to someone in an emergency, so I kept it.

I am trying to really be ruthless to get the extra weight out of this stuff. You may start out with a new and relatively empty RV, but we all know how stuff accumulates over the years. I have lost 40 pounds over the 9 years on the road, so I have dropped at least one size, and maybe two sizes, depending on the fit of shorts and t-shorts. I am tossing out all of my larger t-shirts because they just look baggy on me. I found two pairs of the largest size in storage, so I tossed those. I also have a lot of the smaller and the smallest size shorts that I need to try on. But from now on, things either fit or they get tossed!!

OK, now let's see if I stick to my new principles and my energy holds out! Just finished putting groceries away and going to relax for rest of day. I have laundry to do but will get to it tomorrow. Only thing left to do is bake the roasting chicken I bought. That will last me several meals!!

Thanks for the birthday wishes. My mind bounced between “your older than dirt” and “hot damn you made 85”. Was a quiet day, well wishes, phone calls and the brave daughter who fought the traffic to bring my favorite crab cake dinner. Had a Dove ice cream bar for desert. I have lived a long time, seen a lot and hope to see our country come together and conquer this virus. That would be a great birthday present. Be safe

Had a great visit with Claudia. We had a good lunch at a little diner in Eugene. Was pretty easy for Claudia to get there. We did lots of chatting and just getting to know one another. I enjoyed meeting her very much. Velda she is the one from Louisiana and I told her you said hi. It was fun finding out we have met many of the same people.

Picked up a blended Mocha on my way home so most likely wont need any dinner tonite LOL It is 94 here and the smoke is way worse than when I left. It was pretty bad in Eugene and as I got closer to Roseburg on the way home it never disappeared. BUT was still only 107 here which is waaayyyyy better than the other day and it really doesnt smell smoky so I will take it.

Not a darn thing on the agenda for the rest of the day. Well I might program my new remote to my tv and see if it works but other than that nada.

I have been working hard on the gourd all afternoon. I drilled tiny holes at the ends of the cracks and filled them with wood filler. Then went outside to spray a sealer on it. I found the one glossy sealer spray can I had but it came out all spritzy and foamy. So I had to run to WM to get a new can. I started spraying the gourd and the first stuff I sprayed started to bubble a little. Then I noticed some tiny hairline cracks towards the top. Nothing I can do about that at this point. I just sprayed a few more coats of the new spray on it and let it dry in between each coat. It is nice and shiny now. Then glued a wood base on the bottom. Let that dry, then glued on the trim around the collar at the top with the tassel. Now just letting it all dry well. It actually looks pretty good! :D Just hope it all holds together! Will take pics later before I pack it up.

I will leave tomorrow around 9am, drive up over the mountain to Temecula, then stop there for lunch at my favorite place, Epic Wings. Then head to Escondido and see if they will let me check in at Motel6 early without charging me extra. The wedding is a 2pm with dinner and reception following.

I am thinking about checking out early on Monday, heading to Carlsbad for my ocean fix for a few hours, then heading up to Julian (old gold mining town) on the way back. Have lunch there, check out some cute shops, and then head down the mountain back home. May as well take advantage of being out there for a mini vacation! :D

Finished up the spaghetti for lunch. It was so good and lasted me for 5 meals!

It is very humid out today and now the sun is coming out so making it hotter and steamier. I checked the oil in my car and it is at a good level. Need to get it washed before I leave. I don't like to travel in a dirty car. I cleaned out the inside today as well.

Busy day and it is barely 4pm and I didn't get started until almost noon!
