I find this sad

I was just on FB and saw a post in one of the groups I belong to:
"Curious where everyone's favorite place is? We have been full time for 16 months and haven't hit a spot that we would want to return to."

I looked at other messages from this person and know they've been to Yellowstone, the Grand Canyon and Zion to name a few places. I realize we don't all like the same things but to be full-time for 16 months and no where they'd want to return to. I simply can't see how that's possible.

Please tell me that all of you are more like me and just keep adding places to return to to your lists.

I wonder what they are looking for??? there is a page that I belong to basically people asking questions about their upcoming trip to Jackson WY and surrounding area's including Yellowstone.... and hear so many people say how they are looking forward to their return how sad they are to leave
their is so much to see that I don't know how one can see it all in one trip... I do have a sister in law and brother in law to try not to repeat places as they want to see more or they did now they are pretty much at home due to health but they did see a lot when they were traveling although never rv'ers

I absolutely would return to many places and just a few I dont have a desire to go back to for whatever reason. AND I am not fulltime. Each area of the country I have been to has some sort of beauty or appeal.

I don’t have my RV any longer, but if I can figure out how to do it, I’ll go back to Grand Canyon and take the mule ride to Phantom Ranch for a third time. In addition, every place I visited in the 58,000 miles in 7 years that I traveled would be a place I would visit again. There’s something wrong with those people who posted that. Perhaps they should give up RVing, but there may be nothing that makes them happy.

Beth, that is sad.

I had wanted to travel to Yellowstone and Craters of the Moon (LOL - a place in Idaho, not in outer space) since I was a child. My (ex) husband was never into traveling for pleasure, maybe it was because he traveled for business so much. I was married nearly 30 years, and (you got it) we never traveled together much, certainly not to Yellowstone or Craters.

I was finally able to make the trip to Yellowstone and Craters of the Moon in 2018. I drove from Northern California to Yellowstone (and back, of course) solo, just me and my Big Joe (I know that for you full-timer ladies, a trip like this would just be pffft! But for me it was quite the adventure).

Yellowstone and the surrounding areas. . . well, they broke my heart. Were I younger, with fewer entanglements, I would move there in a second. The beauty of Idaho, Montana, Wyoming purely took my breath away. To speak of those places is to weep.

I long to go back, but probably never will. I will never forget this magical trip so long as I live.

Thanks, ladies. I can't imagine a life where I wouldn't enjoy and want to return to so many of our wonders, from small towns to national parks, even to the big cities that I mainly avoid now (mostly because of traffic, but each still has so much to offer). I think they must be unhappy people.

That is really sad! To not be able to see the breathtaking beauty in nature is a very sad thing. They surely are not in touch with their spiritual side (not talking about religion, but that inner connection and appreciation for the beauty of nature).

I find it hard to answer, 'What is your favorite place?' and I get asked that often. So many places I would go back to and so many I haven't even seen. Since our cruise was canceled, BFF and I tried to come up with ideas of places in the States we could go. I suggested Yellowstone and she has no interest! Then again, she likes Vegas and that's not my cup of tea - been there.

My most recent "favorite place" is Homolovi SP because they repaved the campsites and made them much bigger. I also like the views of the grasslands from that place. However, I have a lot of favorite places I like to go and also have difficulty answer the many people who ask me what my favorite is.

I wonder if they were commenting on the campground or the national park as a whole, or even the weather or crowds? Surely they cannot be criticizing the scenery!!

However, I wonder if they were making some bad decisions in selecting places and campgrounds. I am reminded of my friend who went to Las Vegas with a friend about 10 years ago. She was very unhappy and did not enjoy the city because it was so hot in July! In addition, her friend wanted to just grab fast food, while she wanted to go out for elegant dining.

Maybe these people stayed in electric-only or even no-hookup sites, and they really are full-hookup, hot tub, and activities people, but didn't check out the campground amenities carefully before they went??? Did they expect peaceful places and not know there would be crowds in the summer? (Like my friend who did not know how hot it would be in LV in July.)

This reminds me of the people who ask for campground recommendations on a forum without specifying what they like in a campground. After a few campgrounds, most of us experienced campers know what we like and don't like in a campground, so maybe they just somehow did not realize the differences between campgrounds or even what they really wanted.

Beth, how about asking her what she did not like about GC and Zion. It would be interesting to know.

Well, I did contact her. She said she didn't dislike most of the places, enjoyed many. She complained about how busy Yellowstone was. Then she said they'd just rather go to new places. I kind of understand better now, but still can't figure out how no place has left them wanting to return. Maybe that'll change.

And I know many of us like different things. I don't like paved parking lots, for example. I actually prefer sites not paved and more rustic. But that won't make me like or dislike the area, just my decision on where to stay lol
