we had rain today as well and predicted for the next few days... nephew believes that will happen so he had his wife stop by and turn off the sprinkler system... but the chances of rain isn't that great I might believe it if it was 95 or so but less than 50 percent I don't know that it is anything to worry about especially since I think the system doesn't come on till Monday but perhaps I am not recalling correct.. thought it was Monday Wednesday and Friday but I again I am not sure if I remember that right...
Irmi am so glad that you sold your house so quickly when we put ours on the market it went like in a day or two.... so totally shocked us and we were so not prepared... but looks like you are...
glad Anita that your are getting rid of the stuff you desire to do... guess if I want a ride in the sling I have to come to you
hopefully Barbie that you can get some freedom from the pain in your shoulder /arm...
it was a do nothing day as many of mine are but that is what it is... tomorrow need to go to store get some stuff for supper
dd and sil are coming hadn't planned on that when I went to the store earlier in the week... if I knew how to utilize that steak in the freezer I would use it but still haven't figured out what type of steak it is....
you have a great day

So much news. Irmi congratulations on selling your house so fast!! I plan on selling ours 'as is' when the time comes but I supposed that might be left up to the person appointed to manage things. We have no children or family who are close. If we do have to move to a smaller place will probably just have someone come in and set up some type of sale. No one wants the 'stuff' now that we collected over the years. I'm sure you are very relived to have it finished!
Marda I always wanted to ride a horse along the ocean!! You sound as though you are really having a good time. Martha the credit card companies are pretty careful, if they see an unusual charge they call or if someone does make charges they will cancel the card and remove the fraudulent amounts, at least that has been our experience. I don't pay in restaurants with a card if they take it away from the table. I also try to use cash when I can. If I buy online I pay with Paypal whenever possible. There are places where you need a credit card for like reservations, seems like cash and checks are becoming obsolete. My older brother and my cousin go to the water department or other local places they get monthly bills from instead of mailing a check!
Thankfully it has cooled off here and they are promising rain. The humidity on Thursday topped out at 80!!

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks this summer is hotter for a longer stretch than previous years! I feel so bad for you gals up north getting our southwestern heat. Most years here in So. Calif. we will get 2 or 3 days of 100's but it will then drop down for a few days. We have been over 100 every day for months this year! Late yesterday afternoon it got very gray out and wind picked up whipping my wind chimes. Temp. dropped into low 90's and I think even into 80's, so I took my glass of wine out on the patio for the first time in months! It sure looked and felt like a storm was heading closer and it was especially darker out Barbie's way, so I hoped she got some rain. Sorry to hear she didn't. Wonder where the storm went?

I encountered what may become a trend with the ATM and cash thing. I recently took a bus/train tour for the first time in over 1 1/2 years and twice we were in places that were cashless. You had to use a credit card for anything. No cash accepted at all. Even if you just wanted a bag of chips you had to use a credit card. This occurred on the part of the trip that was on Amtrak for dining car as well as snack bar! The other was the ocean side amusement park of Santa Cruz. Everything was cashless. I wondered if they were just using COVID as an excuse because they didn't want the hassle of dealing with money, or were they concerned about theft (perhaps not on the train, tho - where would you escape to?).

I have been using my ATM card like my own personal banker for just about everything. I don't feel totally safe doing that, but I pay for everything I can with the debit function and withdraw money at the machine inside a local supermarket or go to the bank itself where there are 3 machines inside. Yes, I know using debit means the bank doesn't cover the loss if someone steals your card and they do cover the loss if you are using the credit function. However, in the last few years I've noticed that register clerks never ask for picture I.D. like they are supposed to do but my debit card needs a passcode to use. Would be harder for someone to use it. Wonder what our future will be like? Eventually use our thumbprint?

Evie, I would love to hear more about your train adventure! How far up the coast did you go?
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
