Morning. Sunny here this morning. Rain and storms later this evening and tonight They say. Biggest threat below me again. High around 80 than a nice cool down back into 70’s for rest of week and into next week.

Thought I would share this article with you. There was a similar one in my local paper yesterday too. Awhile back I posted a link to an article on the PM-2 that is referred to in this article. Puttery day today. Working on the deer. Didn’t finish yesterday. Wound up doing some yard work. Need a few things from the store but nothing urgent. Maybe I’ll get my truck back Friday, who knows. More than likely, next Monday.

Decided to sell the lot to the neighbors. Ball is in their court now. They are thinking it over. Have to make sure it will fit what They want to do. Pipeline easement cuts some ground off on one side as far as being able to use it. Lot is on a curve in the road, so lines are kind of angled. And he’s leaving Saturdsy for 3 week backpacking trip in CO.

Guess I had better get dressed and get this day moving. Never know where it’s going to go.

Son and grandkids are out for a walk down the beach. I slept in a bit and don't like to walk with them because they go too fast. Also, Verizon signal is weak and only works part of the time, so I am taking advantage of it while it is working.

I am listening to all the news about masks and am going to start wearing them in stores, also. I am really glad that it is legal for companies to require masks of employees--especially hospitals and other medical facilities. Way back in December, it was staff that brought in COVID to my aunt's memory care facility in Georgia. And even then, only half of the staff ever got vaccinated. That seems absurd to me. The other POA, Tonya, went for a visit there in person a couple of weeks ago. She is fully vaccinated, but right now has a horrible cold and has lost her voice. Started antibiotics yesterday and is getting a COVID test today, but it would be lousy if she caught COVID from someone at the memory care place. All residents ARE vaccinated, by the way.

And who wants to go into a hospital for surgery or treatment and not know if the medical person taking care of you has been vaccinated. Yes, some people cannot get the vaccine and some people who are immune-suppressed do not properly develop antibodies, but the rest of the people should not be taking care of patients if they are not vaccinated!! At least, I don't want them around me, even if I have protection from the vaccines I got!!!

Oh, and is it anyone's business if Simone Biles drops out of part of the Olympics?? I am getting tired of news people criticizing her. Her mental and physical problems are her own business. And would they do that to a male competitor???

Good Morning All, weather is same ole, same ole. Judy, I agree. I just sent a long rant to BF Edith. I said things I can’t say here but needed to get out before I exploded. My age group carry smallpox vaccine scars and there is no smallpox. Duh! Still dealing with breathing issues and not sure if this the new normal or I can do something else to improve things. Will try walking the hall again. Think I need an attitude adjustment. Be safe

What really seems absurd to me is the fact that the pandemic is being treated by a very great many here in the U.S. (I am reading that only a little more than half of people eligible for the vaccination have rolled up their sleeves) as some kind of "political issue" or "government take-over of freedoms" issue, rather than the public health issue it really is.

Not sure where we go from here. . . but it is worrisome, to say the least.

I think we are all upset and extremely frustrated right now with the rapid return of Covid. Since the threat has returned it just multiplies any other stress we are dealing with and dashes our hopes of normal, and then the news comes on!!!!!!

I agree with Karen we are going NOWHERE!! And like Anne said it isn't being treated like a public health issue.

Maybe there should be some type of a restriction on who can get the vaccine and see how many change their minds and demand it!!

Good morning gals!

My shoulder is in a lot of pain this morning. I will have to re-arrange my work station since I was doing too much reaching and continuous movement with my left arm yesterday. I was doing so well up until now with it! Doesn't take much to mess it up. I have been using the ointment and icing it all morning and now took a strong Ibuprofin I got from my doctor. Will have to slow down at work and baby it today.

Sue, I read that article and that makes a lot of sense about the smoke increasing Covid. Not good news tho with so many being exposed to the smoke now. California is now requiring all state employees and health care workers to be vaccinated or get tested weekly.

Back into the heat again. But another monsoon system is supposed to arrive this weekend which will cool the temps down and bring more rain (hopefully!).

There was a small orange kitty walking up my driveway yesterday when I was pulling in. It might be the young offspring of the big orange cat I have been trying to trap. He/she ran off when I got out of my car.

I felt a small earthquake this morning. It was centered just 2 miles from me but only a 2.5. It just made my bed shake a tiny bit.

Yeah, I wholeheartedly, 100% agree - unfortunately.

I am sometimes (often?) accused of having a "negative outlook" on things (I will admit that I am a "glass half empty" kind of person, rather than a "glass half full" type), so I do try (mostly) not to go too far down the negativity rabbit hole when posting on here. . .

But I find myself often thinking "very bad thoughts" (I'll leave it at that) about this entire situation. Luckily - and thankfully - all of my close and extended family members are all on the same "abundant caution required" page as I am. Makes things a tiny bit easier.

I, too, will be continuing with the "small bubble" thing as well.

John is having some minor surgery next week and the surgery center has advised us to wear masks when indoors in public space and to avoid large crowds because of the increase numbers of those with the variant. We have a group of people at our church who still believe that Covid 19 is no worse than the common cold and is really a political issue but when I ask them to tell me when was the last time 600,000 people died in one year of the common cold they just shrug their shoulders and avoid answering me. My doctor said that until every one is vaccinated we will always have this disease around. My sister and daughter in law both had reactions to the vaccines and have been advised to not receive the booster.
Our feral kitties are slowly venturing out. Several evenings ago that sat at the entrance to their safe place and watched, keeping a good 15 feet between us and them. But when John made a move that looked like he was venturing in their direction they swiftly ran to cover. Last evening one Grey kitty was sitting on the back step to the house when I opened the door she hid in the peony bush. John put a cat treat out on the patio, then we sat very quietly at the table visiting in hushed voices. She popped out of the bush, snatched the treat and ran back to her security in the pole barn. I guess we are making progress.
Been horrible hot and humid and no rain. Our location is in the severe drought portion of the state. All I do is drag a hose from one flower garden to the next. Then the next day I water the vegetable garden.
I have been hungry for some old fashioned food so the other night I made stuffed green peppers, stewed tomatoes and glorified rice for supper. Tonight we are having porcupine meatballs and Waldorf salad. I am going to buy a toaster oven/air fryer so we can make baked foods without heating up the house.
Two young men from our church have started their own business restoring old cars. We are going to see if they can do some work on the Shasta and paint it.

I believe that people have a right not to get vaccinated, and many people cannot get vaccinated, but when someone affects the health of the rest of us, then society has to set rules for interactions, such as wearing masks and being tested often, and maybe even being identified as unvaccinated in some situations, such as medical care. I can limit my shopping and my socializing, but I cannot limit situations when I have to get health care or visit a dentist, etc. The problem in hospitals and other health care places is that you cannot tell who is vaccinated or not. I like that some places like my dentist office requires employees to wear masks, but I still cannot tell who has been vaccinated or not.

Good news is that Pfizer posted today that their research shows that a third shot substantially increases protection. I would like to see similar research by an organization that does not sell vaccine!

I was feeling good about shopping and such, but I am going to be much more careful about where I go and wearing a mask in public, indoor places from now on. I wore a mask the other day to a large grocery store, but almost no one else was wearing masks. I'll bet a lot of people will start wearing masks again. I have quite a few leftover KN95 masks and will try to find some N-95 in medical supply places.

Shirl, I like the small pox scar reference! My brother is being a wise acre about waiting to see what ailments we end up with. I told him we survived various vaccines - polio, small pox, mumps, measles, chicken pox. I'm not happy with him. I think we are all probably headed back into our bubble - mine wasn't very big to begin with.

Monica and I just went to Wenatchee to get my phone put on their account and then to Hobby Lobby. Wow! that was fun! Stopped at a jewelry pawn shop and she sold a bunch of loose gold and diamonds - guess I need to do that. Smoke from up north is coming into Wenatchee. We also drove by the results of the big fire we had near here - unbelievable.

Barbie, didn't you have physical therapy for your shoulder? Did they give you exercises to do at home?

Shirl, I think I have a bad attitude. It doesn't take much to piss me off. I took the paper that the electric company gave me to the notary. They didn't even look at what was attached to it or my drivers license. They just stamped it and said that will be $15. Brought it back to Lafayette. The lady told me it might be 4 weeks before I see a change in the bill. All of this has triggered the accounts to be looked at by their engineers. I have 5 accounts, the house, the RV port, 2 wells and a motor on a field pump. One is listed as commercial and doesn't have a big enough transformer so will get charged $25 extra. I guess until the transformer is paid. I think it must be the field pump. That pump is only used when there is rice planted and that's not happening this year because of the storms last year.

I stopped at Target. I hadn't been in there in over a year. They are sure busy in there with workers pulling carts all over the store. Must be getting ready for back to school. Went to Ross but didn't see anything I needed. I'll be glad when they quit selling women's jeans already faded or with holes in them. There is a new, big wine store in that shopping center that I have been wanting to go to. I ran out of steam before I got to the wine store. I don't need wine anyway. I noticed there is a new Sears Home Store. I had never seen that before. There was a big Sears store in the mall but that closed probably 5 years ago.

Rita, that's the way to tame wild kittens. When they associate you with food they will get braver.

I was happy yesterday because we went all day with out rain and then it rain an inch over night. It hasn't rained today but the weather man says we might get some in the morning. I will be glad when it drys up some.

talked with my granddaughter and she is good with not having decor on the box... we decided that way it could grow with her ... not just feel like it's high school... but think I will put one more protective coat on it...then we will call it good...down to 14 rows on the afghan estimating next week early I do two rows a night so seven days
tomorrow think I will do laundry if I keep saying it one day it will happen
I made baked chicken nuggets way to many ... and onion rings for supper forgot about the fresh corn in the fridge so we had frozen corn

Stepped out front door about 11:15 to go to Curves and smoke was pouring into the area and temp was 92°. Checked AQI when I got home an hour later and it was 160. By 3 the AQI was 262, with dense stinky smoke in the air. Temperature reached 102°. I made Sean, the handman quit and come in the house to make list for next project as air was not fit to breathe. First significant smoke event this year. Then after sun was going down, wind changed and smoke quickly left. AQI now down below 30, in green zone! Hope smoke does not return. I have 2 layers of filtration in my house- electrostatic filters in the 3 air returns and a HEPA level filter in place where returning air enters AC. So indoors is safest place for me! If smoke returns, I'll stay inside.

Today on local NBC news they had a story about a guy who was formerly a anti vaxxer! He's in ICU with CoVid and now speaking out about how stupid he had been and how everyone needs to get over it and get their vaccine! A little while in ICU should convince most you would think!
Spent evening catching as many different Olympic events as we could. Women's mountain bike race was interesting.
Watched our US men advance in beach volleyball. And heard we got gold in my new favorite-3x3 basketball.

Anita, yes, I was doing PT but pretty much done with that. I also do exercises at home when I remember. I haven't had any pain lately so I forget to do the exercises for awhile. I am doing them again now tho. I got put on a different job today and was able to rearrange the supplies I worked with, on my table, so I wasn't using my left arm too much. So far, not too sore tonight.
